Re: Us seeks to make organic farming illegal (true)
Ya a definite conflict of interest. Monsanto is extremely evil, with huge controls on the farmers that use their seeds because of all their patents on the genetically changed seeds. And who knows the health risks the governments have risked by allowing the altered seeds. There wasnt much study done on how the altered food we're all eating has affected us. Monsanto essentially bribed the governments into doing it. And quelled all dissent about the health risks. Sure, the seeds are higher yield and resistant to pests, but at what cost? Farmers had to buy into it to stay competitive with each other. The altered food essentially created a two-tier food system. Thosa who have no choice but to buy the altered food because of their budget, and those who can afford to buy the 'real food'. A loss of organic farming would eliminate all options for healthy eating. Though the best option is to grow your own food. Even if you only have a small plot of land in your backyard, or a section of your balcony, a community garden plot, or an acre, it's worth the effort to stay healthy. And therapeutic to garden as well. And also you cut down on the pollution since the food doesnt have to be trucked miles to the supermarket. Also, there's no pesticides or fertilizers. I've been growing my own food for 2 years now. Each fall I've blanched and frozen vegetables and made my own pasta sauce. It's March and I'm still eating the frozen food. Healthy frozen food. Go start your own vegetable garden! Just make sure you buy organic seeds or organic starter plants.
