How many times have you read of people who were lost or injured in an inhospitable country, who would have given their life savings for a glass of water or a hot meal? For purely material investment along the lines of what you are actually asking Ready2BPeaceful. Real estate - buy some elevated land far away from the ocean and any major cities, plant fruit trees and vegetables with organic seeds (use Anastasia's method).

A 'Radiant Zone' safe place will be the most valuable thing.
