True, but it depends what makes the anomaly appear. You can get all sorts of odd graphical anomalies in a photo that aren't a direct image of the actual debris. I'm guessing the shutter on the telescope aren't instant, so smearing is highly likely if something goes by.

Like in this case, the sphere shown is almost the same size as the sun disc, might even be exactly the same size...haven't measured it. The fact that this object appeared and passed out of view in a matter of ~30 minutes suggest it either went by very close to the telescope or it went really really fast (incredibly fast) if it was at about the same distance as the sun itself. This is apparent if you look at videos that contain comets in them, they will usually be visible on 3-4 frames before they are gone, sometimes even more.
