When you can have compassion and forgiveness for all that is you have come to realize that you are in the center of your own universe where the fine line that was once put between " good " and " bad" do not exist anymore for Love integrates both parts into Oneness with all that is .

It is a saying that your worst enemy is your best friend and that the pain that you carry is the Love that you withold. I understand these in the Light of the above. There are many ways to adress darkness : you can fight it , you can fear it ,you can defend yourself against it or you can run away . All these are steps in the process of consciousness's growth and as such have their own value .But ultimately you'll have to integrate it through Love and compassion and see through your Heart , the soul's heart , that in your opponent there is another you.

Love Always

My understanding is that " the dark comes from the same place as the light" thats a quote from Yoganada.
We are in the university of evolution of consciousness.
Basically duality is a missunderstanding caused by faulty perception, its a question of linguistics.
If we picture everything on a sliding scale rather that good and evil we have at the top of the scale for example un-conditional love diminishing till we very little love, there is a change from loving everything and everyone ( but not neccesarily condoning actions, discression not judgment is needed) to a very limited love where only ones own actions are loved.

There is a different quality from the top of the scale to the bottom.
ie in the case of water, steam, liquid, ice, still the same basic but different. Hot or cold arent opposites just different states of the same.

We fix an abitary point and call it warm according to out prespective, to an eskimo warm would seem cold to a person living on the equator.

We look for pleasing experiences, in actual fact we are just experiencing, the ego labels it, acceptable or otherwise. There would be no spiritual growth if all experiences were pleasant. (that seems to be a paradox)

I had to hit rock bottom in order to begin the spiritual quest through a 12 step program. Was that rock bottom a gift or a curse?
At the time it seemed horendous, life was not worth living, but without that experience there would not have been the growth that I have been blessed to witness.

We think in terms of good and evil till we realise that without these experiences we would not learn of love and compassion, when we experience unconditional love then we can transcend duality which is ego based. Judge not etc.
Jesus said. "Judge not for they know not what they do" basically they are spiritually ignorant. If they knew better they would do better.

Its a very complex subject which I cant do justice to.
Dr David Hawkins gives the best and clearest information that I have read in books of his like "Eye of the I"

It really helps to realise that the brain is still basically the product of evolution from reptillian to animal to human, the front cortex is a recent addition, so basically we still have the animal survival nature which is the ego saying, my needs wants and desires come first.
The ego is not the enemy it was necessary for survival.
In reality the ego is just buying into the "me" story in the head.
I am not the movie that I witness.
TRUTH is eternal unchanging.
That which looks through the eyes is the same before birth, after birth, after the demise of the body.
Unconditional love puts others wants and needs first so the ego is transcended at that level.
What is done for the "other" is done for the "self"
No soul is superior to another, some have just evolved further.

Thats my understanding as of Now.
