I think people work up to that. When I have worked with meditation and teaching someone, I'm happy to get them to do 20 minutes in the morning and night. Few can even manage that! Most fall asleep doing it and that's not the purpose of the meditation.
I meditate now when I feel like it, and lately, I've felt like it a lot, so I do 5 to 10 minutes off n on throughout the day. I am resetting my parasympathetic system often though.
