A film to empower fathers which is (as far as I know) the first of its kind - not only about the physical and emotional needs of baby and father but also the the spiritual
A birth film for fathers. To buy/donate go to www.theothersideoftheglass.com The Other Side of the Glass a film by L. Janel Martin, the Baby Keeper babykeeper@gmail.com 573-424-0997 This is a ten-minute fundraiser trailer for the film, "The Other Side of the Glass: Finally, A Birth Film Series for Fathers" will be in four parts to the film. Part I and 2 are in production. Part 1 will expand upon the information presented in this trailer. It will provide the basic information men and women need to have to make birth safer -- wherever they give birth. It is designed for women and men to present to their caregiver -- midwife, nurse, or doctor; and for childbirth educators, midwives and doctors to show to expectant men and women. Part one presents current research and fathers birth stories, and questions the routine use of interventions in birth, while introducing resources for creating safe and connected birth wherever birth happens. Part two, "His moment ... of Awe"... goes beyond the idea of fathers as the protector and advocate, to how caregivers must advocate for the entire family. Part three focuses on several fathers who talk about how their lives were transformed by the experience of trusting their wife, who trusted her body and birth, and how they are as fathers because of this experience. Part Four is about the pre and perinatal psychology (the period before and until 1 month after birth) and methods of treatment for integrating and healing, and about how we can heal humanity by acknowledging that the human is a sentient (conscious) being. This chapter will focus on the impact of drugs, interventions done without regard for the baby, separation, isolation, and circumcision on humanity, but especially on the male baby. Most of us were born surrounded by people who had no clue about how aware and feeling we babies were. Our experience of birth has not been acknowledged. This trailer triggers a lot of emotions for people if they have not considered the baby's needs and were not considered as a baby. The final film will include detailed and profound information about the science-based, cutting-edge therapies for healing birth trauma. (this is the first cut still being edited) A series of excerpts from interviews with doctors for birth film for fathers,"The Other Side of the Glass." I've been wondering what I could do to help our friends in Australia where the government is trying to make midwifery illegal. I realized that what Australia and the US need (and so many other places where midwifery and women and baby's right are being trampled) is to hear the truth from the doctors who are bravely speaking out. I present "Doctor's Voices" as a way to support midwifery AND the doctors who support the midwifery model of care and reform of our current system.
