I don't see where $500,000 and up front in cash is a very low price. That is half a million dollars.

Kerry can you get a few more details for us? Acreage, size/type of homes, utility access etc? Just the basics.
Thx! |

Hi Everybody,
I think the property that Kerry is on about are villas in high class neighbourhoods. Even though, I think half a million is a little steep to be regarded as cheap. My eight acre (four hectares) farm here in Brazil cost a little under 7,000 US. It has a simple two bedroomed house, energy, deep pond, space and peace of mind. But even before you think of buying property abroad to live, you will need to get a residency visa. Not always too easy to get. Good luck. Best regards, Steve |

I've looked in to that of getting the residency visa. it is easy, but getting a place to live that is the hard part.

We have purchased a Quinta @ Hacienda San Joaquin, Ecuador. Our purchase price was less than half of the required 500K. A lot perhaps for most of Ecuador but for were we are with S. California Standards used in construction we felt it was a veritable Bargain. San Joaquin is perhaps the Premiere Project in all of Ecuador. We loath to leave this place even for food!! It is such a beautiful place we never want to leave, for any reason... We are in Heaven.

Wow...500k...
This is some favor you are doing Kerry for this person...are they real estate agents? do they get a cut? How does this help humanity? How does this help PA? I doubt many ground crews could afford this... Perhaps the veil of PA has hidden the poverty level of the "Regular joe"" Do you really think 500k is a low price? ..i noticed many have asked this question and Kerry..you do not answer.. i am curious as to the intentions of this thread... |

I was going to ask if that was US dollars, but it appears the currency of Ecuador is US$
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currency_of_Ecuador One lives and learns ! ![]() I guess that US$ 0.5 million wont be worth much soon. A.. |

Do you really think 500k is a low price? Celine
I think it depends who you ask & when you asked. At the height of the real estate boom, a older 3 br "rambler" w/o a view house in SoCal ( where I think Kerry lives) could sell for close to 500k. Many SoCal residents took advantage of that and moved to areas where they could live "larger" (ie buy a McMansion). I had a friend who bought his 2 br w/o a view condo in Remond WA (by Microsoft HQ) for 120k in 2000 and sold it for 400k in 2006. We have always been happy in our 3 br/ 1 ba house and have never had a desire to live "larger". Didn't bother us a bit to make the boys share a bedroom until their sister moved out ![]() It's about priorities for me - not profit. El Last edited by 5thElement; 02-15-2010 at 10:16 PM. Ground crews might think they need to spend that much to get something... this feels like a "favor" for a real estate agent. |

Thanks, Steve A for putting things into perspective. It really must be a high class project. I guess we'll weather the "storm" here in Quebec!

Inappropriate adveritising.... I'm as disappointed that Kerry published this as she is that Bill has published what she resents.
Ahhh, but, we're all subject to our humanity yes? And, it's not likely it would be tolerated that we, the viewers, post here on behalf of someone that we can't verify as being legit or not. tsk tsk, the drama goes on... |
