sorry, so far, no english translation has been found by me or others i know..
when the author of the book died in 1958 he died in solitude..forgotten
in 1993 a american named "sheldan nidle" brought Hesse`s work back "to the surface"
some smaller bookpress began reprinting Hesse`s book in 1995 ..

The different views of Baphomet:

a very popular belief is, that baphomet is just another name for the god "pan".

it`s been said that the knights templars found leftovers of the decapitated skull of john the baptist in palestine; therefore "baphi-meta" which is "old" greek for "baptism" and "wisdom" lead to the conclusion, that the templars were baptists, worshipping john the baptist.

another way to see it, is the fact, that the templars learned a lot about oriental culture and religion..in short..this suggests, that baphomet came from "mahomet" - a name often used for the goddess "isis". (plutarch found, that "isis" was at times also known as "sophia")

very popular is seeing "baphomet" as a variation of "mahomet" which also means "mohammed". another accepted possibility is that baphomet is a phonetic variation of the arab "abufihamet" which means "father of wisdom" or "source of understanding"... or "baphe meteos" = "baptism of metis" (metis: gnostic goddess of wisdom)

baphomet is a ancient symbol of many cultures and symbolises the wholeness of nature, (all in one, one in all) he is not man or animal, not male or female, not plant or mineral, not black or white...just all in one.

almost far fetched seems the idea, that the bearded head of baphomet represents the face of christ imprinted on the piece of cloth, which the templars are said to have found. this idea receives more weight when we considder, that baphomet written in hebrew and deciphered with the "atbash code" turns into "sophia" (christ sophia) / (sophia: also a greek word for wisdom).

Capereycorn you post an intresting fiding about the followers of John the Baptist. Zechariah and Elisabeth where related to Mary, Mary stay in the House of Elisabeth. Elisabeth and Mary parted ways unexplicably. Nothing else was mention of their relationship. John The Baptist was look upon as a Messiah by his followers. John the Baptist baptise Jesus and a dove appear John the Baptist saw his cousin the crazy one become the awaited Christ. Where these two just cousins ? Zechariah was the keeper of the Ark of the Covenant. Why did John the Baptist say Jesus must increase and I must decrease. These two parted ways, why ? Just a thought from and old soul ?

I`ll have to disappoint you. my main interest was baphomet.. and basically just "good or bad?" silly, really, but you can see what came from it. lots of variations which helped me take a course of action still involving guesswork and hope.
i did come across different info for your inquiry but what i do believe about it can only be wrong, since i did not focus on that.
this is what i think:

ark of the covenant = holy grail (taken back by aliens?)
mary = herzeloyde
jesus = parcival
all the split up`s and "alter egos"= biblical "witness protection program"(protecting the merowingian bloodline - only the vatican knows?)

First off I have to thank you for the other day and say that I am sorry for my tone. You actually saved this thread with your words of reason Christo. Carol, you also played just as much of a major part in this... I thank you both!


Now, I believe Trance AM is dead on with what he says in the ending of his posts about Life. I live my life by that principal because I have no choice...at least morally.
