Jim Rogers Buys Land, Starts Farming
I wonder if he is being prompted by the nationalization also.
Jim Rogers Buys Land, Starts Farming By: CNBC.com | 03 Mar 2009 | 05:35 AM ET Commodities are still the best play for the long term, legendary investor Jim Rogers told CNBC, confessing that he has been buying farmland himself. "We're still going to eat, probably; we're still going to wear clothes, probably. Farmers cannot get loans for fertilizers right now. So the supplies of everything are going to continue to be under pressure," Rogers said. He is the director of two funds which are buying greenfield land in Brazil and existing farms in Canada and starting to farm it. The funds are clearing the land, fertilizing it, irrigating it and hiring farmers and, Rogers said, some day will probably sell the land but that is a remote prospect. "If I'm right, agriculture is going to be one of the greatest industries in the next 20 years, 30 years." Re: Organic Farming USA doomed!
Acres USA will be one of the organisations leading the charge to stop this bill. Americans should access that site and see how they can help them. You have some fabulous scientists and organic farmers over there. They need the ordinary citizens support now!!

A Round-Up of Recent News on Monsanto ~ Feb 2009
A Round-up on Monsanto Feb 2009
Video (10:01): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ki1iPiyFQc Links to more articles under the (more info) section on the youtube page. Obama sold out. Vilsack is pro-biotech AND anti-democratic by Scaredhuman Thu Dec 18, 2008 at 05:45:22 PM PST Notice that Vilsack is not only Monsanto's boy in his speaking FOR biotech but Monsanto's boy in character as well in how he has been the planner of laws that undo rights of citizens to control their own communities. Obama is planning an organic garden at the White House but it is clearly only for a false show given his choice of Tom Vilsack to run the USA. Vilsack, according to The Organic Consumer's Association, was named Governor of the Year by Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the biggest pro-genetic engineering lobby in existence. Why? Not for nothing. Because he'd championed local transgenic R&D corporations like Trans Ova, which clones cows. Vilsack was also the founder and former chair of the Governor's Biotechnology Partnership. Vilsack speaks for biotech. He is Monsanto's boy. The Monsanto Connection
Article at http://www.realityzone.com/currentperiod.html G. Edward Griffin's site:
Quote:
by rds2301 Thu Apr 30, 2009 at 11:13:19 AM PDT I recently published an article "Grandmother Scores Huge Victory over Monsanto". The article was a magnet for controversy because I claimed the best way to fight Monsanto and HR 875 was by growing your own food and saving seeds. Linn Cohen-Cole, the libertarian grandmother at the forefront of the anti-HR 875 campaign called me "dangerous" for fostering complacency by encouraging readers to grow their own food instead of send e-mails and faxes...that no one reads. rds2301's diary :: :: The Cornucopia Institute and the Organic Consumers Association has already assured organic advocates that HR 875, the Food Safety and Modernization Act, is only "trying to improve the safety of food products derived from large industrial processing facilities and does not intend to trample organic farmers, backyard gardeners or consumers of fresh local foods." Following the April 3 Cornucopia press release, "Family Farmers Fear Being Run over by Food Safety Juggernaut," organic food activists received a mass e-mail exposing the role of Linn Cole in spreading disinformation about HR 875: Subject: RETRACTION: URGENT! Monsanto Bill to Ban Organic Food: "Monsanto, or one of their proxy groups, is actually feeding libertarian groups disinformation on this bill. The bill doesn't ban organic. When you make that misinformed, but well-intentioned call to your Congressman, you are doing exactly what Monsanto wants—coming across as an ill-informed and hysterical extremist. Monsanto is making a last-ditch effort in this PR war, but they have already really lost it." Monsanto lost it because 43 million Americans, including First Lady Michelle Obama, have risked going to jail for growing their own food! This will help you understand what really happened.... Re: Organic Farming USA doomed!
Even if Monsanto won it (and the problem is not the whole bill, just the ill-defined food production facility - which could be anything) - believe me, if things start to go as HPH shows possible, there's no way anyone could enforce it.
