The Beauty of Numbers
Hey for anyone who is a math nut out there, they may really appreciate this. In the November 2008 issue of Discover, there is an ad for the Scientific American book club (between pgs. 24 & 25). They are offering the "Beauty of Numbers" collection for $5.99 (+ S/H) for membership, with the promise of buying two more books in the next 12 months, where things along those lines may be pointless come a year from now, so take advantage of it!!! You just mail in the card and they send you these books:
e: The Story of a Number Zero: The Biography of a Dangerous Idea An Imaginary Tale: The Story of sq(-1) (Otherwise called i) The Golden Ratio: The Story of Phi, the World's Most Astonishing Number The Joy of pi To Infinity and Beyond Says it's a $140 value. Anyways, I thought people might really appreciate this. These numbers are some of the greatest things one can learn in understanding math, without getting into high grade calculus. I also checked online with the website, but they do not offer the same deal, only the magazine. Enjoy! |
