The Foxfire Books
The Foxfire series is an effort to document the lifestyle, culture, and skills of people in southern Appalachia in a mixture of how-to information and first-person narratives and oral history. I think the first one in the series is from about 1929, and they all deal with survival strategies............ The series is from volume 1 through to volume 12, the latest being released a few years ago. I found reference to them, and able to be downloaded, for the first 5 volumes at Scribd. Downloaders require to register at the site, then can download any other eBooks there as well.
