The traditional midnight mass in Vatican
which takes place on December 24 every year, will start 2 hours earlier this year, at 22:00 (10 pm). there are some lame explanations behind that( like that the Pope is old and it will take off some burden) I wonder what the real reason is....again rituals, playing with numbers?

Re: The traditional midnight mass in Vatican
I see he was presented with a new timepiece; Probably his handler's? Maybe he's got bigger fish to fry- so to speak It is a bit odd though I remember serving mass back at the monastery with a very charismatic franciscan vicar> right before living the sacristy- he would check himself in the mirrior- comb his hair and then > pronounce- Its Showtime! Church clergy can be quite quirky at times Last edited by giovonni; 12-07-2009 at 06:41 PM. |

Re: The traditional midnight mass in Vatican
My guess: It's meant to throw people off, distract. (Traditions are very deep in people.) If I were Catholic, I would boycott a 10PM Midnight Mass, and just pray at midnight at St Peter's Square, outside my church or at home.
This pope isn't old. He seems quite sturdy, actually. The previous pope was in much worse shape, really physically challenged, and still managed. So, why distract? I don't know. There are protests about PM Berlusconi in Rome, now.* A huge report about sexual abuse was released in Ireland. (I started a thread about it - and lots of orders are coming out of the woodwork to give money to 'victims'.**) There have been top-down 'witch hunts' of nuns in the USA, too. (I'll have to think now where I posted that link or saw the article.***) ________________________________________________ *Tens of thousands stage colorful anti-Berlusconi protest in Rome By Raw Story: Saturday, December 5th, 2009 -- 3:19 pm http://rawstory.com/2009/12/tens-tho...-protest-rome/ Irish Catholic chief, pope to discuss abuse report updated 11:49 a.m. MT, Sat., Dec . 5, 2009 DUBLIN - The head of the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland says he will meet Pope Benedict XVI next week to discuss a devastating report that found the church covered up clerical child abuse for decades...The report was published last month after a government-ordered investigation. It found that church leaders in the Dublin Archdiocese failed to inform authorities about sexual abuse by priests, while police failed to pursue allegations under the belief that church figures were above the law. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34161817/ Irish Catholic Church Covered Up Child Abuse, 720 page Report Says http://projectavalon.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17821 **Irish nuns offer euro128M for permitting child abuse ***U.S. Nuns Facing Vatican Scrutiny By LAURIE GOODSTEIN - Published: July 1, 2009 The Vatican is quietly conducting two sweeping investigations of American nuns, a development that has startled and dismayed nuns who fear they are the targets of a doctrinal inquisition. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/02/us/02nuns.html?_r=1 Last edited by no caste; 12-07-2009 at 06:52 PM. |

Re: The traditional midnight mass in Vatican
Wow you certainly have the story No Caste
I wonder what is being said in the churches now a days.....LOL I dont dare ask my sisters, they already think I'm possessed. I already heard what some of the nuns were doing to the young boys by a very good friend of mine that went with one of these boys that was put in an Orphanage. Not good at all..............horrible stories I also heard that the roman catholic church filed bankruptcy, like they would ever be broke.................thats where China should go for their money The whole world should be protesting this. |

Re: The traditional midnight mass in Vatican
Perhaps the black mass begins in the basement precisely at midnight. See 'Windswept House' for details.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqm2f...eature=related
