Default Revolution is Brewing!

Thousands rally with 'tea parties' on tax day,

ATLANTA – Whipped up by conservative commentators and bloggers, tens of thousands of protesters staged "tea parties" around the country Wednesday to tap into the collective angst stirred up by a bad economy, government spending and bailouts. The rallies were directed at President Barack Obama's new administration on a symbolic day: the deadline to file income taxes. Protesters even threw what appeared to be a box of tea bags toward the White House, causing a brief lockdown at the compound.

Shouts rang out from Kentucky, which just passed tax increases on cigarettes and alcohol, to Salt Lake City, where many in the crowd booed Republican Gov. Jon Huntsman for accepting about $1.5 billion in stimulus money. Even in Alaska, where there is no statewide income tax or sales tax, hundreds of people held signs and chanted "No more spending."

"Frankly, I'm mad as hell," said businessman Doug Burnett at a rally at the Iowa Capitol, where many of the about 1,000 people wore red shirts declaring "revolution is brewing." Burnett added: "This country has been on a spending spree for decades, a spending spree we can't afford."

In Boston, a few hundred protesters gathered on the Boston Common — a short distance from the original Tea Party — some dressed in Revolutionary garb and carrying signs that said "Barney Frank, Bernie Madoff: And the Difference Is?" and "D.C.: District of Communism."

Texas Gov. Rick Perry fired up a tea party at Austin City Hall with his stance against the federal government, as some in his U.S. flag-waving audience shouted, "Secede!"

In Atlanta, thousands of people gathered outside the Capitol, where Fox News Channel conservative pundit Sean Hannity was set to broadcast his show Wednesday night. One protester's sign read: "Hey Obama you can keep the change."

Julie Reeves, of Covington, brought her Chihuahua Arnie, who wore a tiny anti-IRS T-shirt. "I want the government to get its hand the hell out of my wallet," Reeves said.

The tea parties were promoted by FreedomWorks, a conservative nonprofit advocacy group based in Washington and led by former Republican House Majority Leader Dick Armey of Texas, who is now a lobbyist.

Organizers said the movement developed organically through online social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter and through exposure on Fox News.

I am always amazed at those who let their political affiliations run them. As I recall, the original bankster bailout occurred during the Republican administration.

Official Statement on Ron Paul and Tax Day Tea Parties

April 15, 2009:

ARLINGTON, VA - As activists across the country hold national tea parties, Campaign for Liberty president John Tate issued the following statement:

"The concept of the modern day Tea Party began on December 16, 2007 when supporters of Ron Paul's presidential campaign came together and raised over $6 million online in one day. The tremendous success of that event led activists in the freedom movement and members of the Campaign for Liberty to begin planning today's Tax Day Tea Parties.

"Success always brings company, and it is very positive that so many conservatives, libertarians, Republicans, constitutionalists and even progressives have come together and joined our efforts. All Americans who are sincere about cutting out of control government spending are welcome to stand with Dr. Paul and the Campaign for Liberty as we fight to take our country back."

Congressman Ron Paul is the honorary chairman of Campaign for Liberty. For more information, visit www.campaignforliberty.com.

Tea Party Victory in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Posted by Justin DeWind on 04/15/09 9:27 PM

We certainly didn't have as many Campaign For Liberty members as the Tea Party in Lansing had. However, we distributed 1500 economic freedom fliers and the equivalent of that in HR 1207 (it also included other bills) fliers. Unfortunately having that many fliers still wasn't enough and we ran out before we were able to distribute them to everyone.

The reception we recieved was extraordinarily positive; people cheered us, asked for our fliers, and thanked us for the work we were doing.

Syracuse , New York - Tax Day Tea Party , Harry's Coverage On April 15 , 2009

http://harrythomas.info
This is some raw footage I threw together real quick . I have over an hour of footage. Bad news is most of it was shot near the podium and the music and speeches were so Loud it was inaudible. I will have to find a way to remove the audio from the MP4s. I used here the most "quiet" footage that was shot.

The David Gay interview was actually the best taken. See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD33DYTgeUY

Wow, lots of participants and "The People" appear to be very hungry for any information...waking up?

Interesting comments from George Ure on the tea party movement on his Urban Survival this morning.

And do remember, he's not a fan of either political party LOL.

Wink Re: Revolution is Brewing!

I am sure this has already been mentioned but Texas just declared sovereignty with the 10th amendment recently. I guess this is a peaceful revolution thus far. However, I hope people do not fall for a violent revolution. This would be playing into the hands of the strategy makers. This would also give a good reason to start Martial Law. This is what some of them want.

So, hopefully these states that are going in their own direction continue to do so in a peaceful manner until some kind of solution has been made. We are witnessing the many changes in the United States. Much of this has to do with too many regulations and overwhelming rules placed on individual states. It is getting to the point that there is so much red tape that it is hard for some states to function. So what is the sovereign count now 23 or 24 states?

Thanks Suriel,

Please see this thread regarding states, including a post (#22) yesterday on Texas, that have filed for sovereignty.

"Lawmakers in 20 States Move to Reclaim Sovereignty" ~ Jerome Corsi

Perhaps, I could have one of the monitors change the name of the thread. I was making an attempt to keep these updates in one thread.

CNN Reporter Blows Up LIVE At Chicago Tea Party!

Posted by boudica on 04/16/09 02:40 AM

Mind you the first guy should have explained the definition of ECONOMIC Fascism, which would have been a more intelligent debate, but she makes a statement that it IS offensive, rather than phrase it as a question, such as "Can you explain what you mean, as some people would find that to be offensive".

Then the poor guy with the baby? You could tell from the beginning she'd already decided she didn't like him or anything he might have to say. He was quoting Lincoln and she starts debating him like it's Crossfire or The Factor or something??? Isn't she just suppose to ask questions and get answers and then ask a follow up, not interject HER thoughts, feelings or opinions, and CERTAINLY not openly chastise this man! No wonder the crowd was turning on her. People know this isn't right! She was basically a anti-protester with a camera and live feed to thousands. And her unprofessional comments at the end and the look on her face are rather like a disgruntled teenager. VERY POOR JOURNALISTIC SKILLS, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

If she hadn't been arguing with the protesters or treating them with open hostility, they might have responded differently, avoiding the whole problem. And even if they did "start" something with her before we see this clip, a professional would have handled it better.

The tea party phenomenon is interesting, although you gotta realize that it is being promoted by desperate neo-cons that have lost power recently. But it is attracting a very diverse crowd. Mostly disgruntled republicans, but also your garden-variety racists, libertarians who hate taxes in general no matter what they are spent on, and the conspiracy folks who see evil in every power structure.

The stuff about Texas is just posturing from a governor who is basically a figurehead (Texas governors have no real power) and some fringe elements in the legislature. George Ure of UrbanSurvival.com had some interesting comments about that today.

From George Ure:

In case you hadn't noticed, the Johnny-coming-lately 'patriotic fervor' which has supposedly driven Texas government to threaten to send troops to the Mexican Border, and now this latest independence talk, seems to have arrived concurrently with president Obama's election to the White House. But where were Rick Perry and his cohorts during the Bush reign? I didn't hear about Rick Perry mobilizing state resources to build a border fence then....

When I see folks out whipping up the 'tea party' sentiment, I ask myself "Is this part of a sincere, ongoing effort that was spawned before the Bushco republicorps lost first sitting at the teat of lobbyists? Or, has it arisen more recently? Pardon my pointing this out, but seems to me that it's more bluster and braggadocio...

Yeah and that's why this tea party nonsense is just that: A partisan attempt by conservatives to stir up their base.

We may be witnessing a Constitution Revolution which draws Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. One possible example of this is Alex Jones...who has been very hard on BOTH George Bush and Barack Obama...mostly regarding Constitutional issues. Ron Paul is another possible example of a constitutionalist who appeals to all three groups. The Constitution Party may do very well in upcoming elections. A sleeping giant may have been awakened. We the sheeple may be morphing into responsible human beings.

I'll believe that when pigs fly and people stop crying "SOCIALISM" and wearing tea bags on their head.

Seriously, drop that rhetoric and we can work together.

When pigs start flying...I'm going to be wearing more than tea bags on my head...and doing more than crying "SOCIALISM'!!

Somewhat unrelatedly...what is the difference between Communism, National Socialism(NAZI)...and Socialism as commonly referred to today?

The commonalities are partially revealed by examining the people and groups who funded(and fund) them. The same people. Corrupt Capitalists!

Ok! Ok! I'll drop the rhetoric! Your people can talk to my people...and maybe we can work something out!
