Front Groups

Listening to Alan Watt's radio talk for May 15, 2009 this morning,I was struck by his statement, "...the United Nations, the big front group that's really run by the international bankers..."

I just learned the term "front group" a couple of years ago. I remember the creepy feeling I got the first time I heard the term. I thought to myself, I have been fooled by these flowery names of organizations. I've been naive...

A Wikipedia article defines "front organization":

"A front organization is any entity set up by and controlled by another organization, such as intelligence agencies, organized crime groups, banned organizations, religious or political groups, advocacy groups, or corporations. Front organizations can act for the parent group without the actions being attributed to the parent group.

Front organizations that appear to be independent voluntary associations or charitable organizations are called front groups. In the business world, front organizations such as front companies or shell corporations are used to shield the parent company from legal liability. In international relations, a puppet state is a state which acts as a front (or surrogate) for another state."

I've seen lists of front groups that are very long lists! Alan Watt often talks about "non-governmental organizations" (NGOs) as being front groups.

Do any of you have knowledge of particular front groups and how they operate?

You can check out Souce Watch for a list of some. This is not all inclusive, and it is also set up like a wiki so you have to take the information with a grain of salt and do your own fact checking to verify the information.

we all have experience. the most obvious 'front groups' are our governments.

Yeah it is...

How about an NGO? Does anyone have experience dealing with an NGO and realizing that it is a front?

Old-Thinker News has a good article dated November 2, 2009 about "GIIN," Global Impact Investing Network, a perfect example of a front.

The pretext is to "help solve social and environmental problems."

This front group will be headed by the Rockefeller Foundation and will include J.P. Morgan, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Al Gore, Deutsche Bank, and others.

The article states, "The GIIN will undoubtedly be used as a public relations stunt for banks and moneyed elites to brush up their stained image through 'socially conscious' investments."

We have members of front groups here on Avalon as well.

I'm sure there are but they're not obvious to me.

Processing the posts on this forum can be fascinating. Even posts from members I have no reason to believe are agents can sound crazy sometimes.

I guess ultimately the important thing is to take it all in and digest it using our abilities the best we can. Keep the nutrients and throw out the waste.
