This video shows how cults and cult leaders will give a lot of truth to get people hooked, and then mix in a bunch of lies for total control.

Nah I'll have to pass... I just don't seem to have the desire to control other people.
![]() As I mentioned in the first post of this thread, this video shows in a rather uncanny fashion the way a large dose of truth can be used to lure people into a web of lies... and how to avoid it. Cults aside, I see this same method being used quite frequently on these forums recently. Hence I'll be taking my leave from here soon, it has gotten a little out of hand in my opinion. Just not my cup of tea as they say. ![]() |

![]() Thanks for the kind words though guys. I get much more enjoyment when putting my focus on esoteric and ancient texts rather then the new-age stuff. Nothing against anyone else, my heart just isn't into the rest. I believe in other life, therefore in aliens. That we are all kin, we're all in one big cosmic body after all, but I really don't believe in the conspiracy that they are here to take us over, or that they created us. We chose to be here to experience this, there are occult methods to connect with our over soul/guardian angel which can prove that. I think greys and reptoids are psy ops, part of project blue book or something similar. Not that I don't think people really seen other beings, I just don't believe they are in control of anything here. Commander Sunni and Bashar are probably part of the ops as an example, they give us so much truth, speak of the importance of love, teach much according to the ancients even, but then mix in some pretty big lies to steer us astray. That being said I'm not going to request an account closure or retirement.. so I'll be around now and then I'm sure, and I'll be checkin the topics here quit often ![]() All the best, now and always! |

You should stay. I still don't know what to really think about the 'alien presence'...regarding whether they rule the roost...or whether human beings are creating the phenomenon. I've pretty much settled on the concept of Constitutional Responsible Freedom...regardless of who the good guys and bad guys are...human or otherwise.
Thinking through how one would start and operate their own cult...might be a good way to avoid being suckered into joining a cult. Here is a video which some have found to be long and boring regarding one particular religious cult figure...namely Herbert W. Armstrong and the Worldwide Church of God. I found the video to be quite illuminating. It all seems to revolve around a central powerful personality who has all the answers...and who discourages challenges to authority and discourages independent thinking. "Just listen to me...and do what I tell you to do." The alternative thinking community is not immune to this sort of thing. In fact...as people become disillusioned with their old beliefs and institutions...they often jump out of the frying pan...and into the fire...and get their fingers burnt...right up to their armpits. true orthodoxymoron some just don't get that they have to doubt and question authority so they can grow up. I d like to help anybody but I m lost in front of those who can't help themselves. What is to say to them ? "Just die you 'll do better next time" ?
sorry for the grim, I'm just frustrated by my schooling. Good morning |

No apologies needed for the grim view. This is a somewhat grim subject. Everyone wants to be an accepted member of the group. They are often told to have faith or to think positively...or to not rock the boat. They are sometimes told that their 'salvation' depends on accepting a sacred text, narrow doctrine, or channeled entity...without evidence or proof.
A certain balance of conformity and non-conformity is essential. Questioning everything is a good thing...and then positively reinforcing the best things is an even better thing. This is easier said than done...but Avalon is a good place to begin. It teaches us to think...I think...therefore I am, I am, I am, I am...I am deluded...yes I am. Sorry. Hi, came here right after reading a bit from the Dulce thread. Like a couple others, I skimmed the Dulce book [see other thread] a bit.
Quote:
Reason I tie the two together is that, in the late 70's I participated in a group (ever notice an "ex-cult" member never calls it a cult? I still don't think we were, really.), and we did experience some channeling from people associated with that area. There was an interesting experience associated with mentally generating, then working with what I can only describe as a pearlesant blue/white energy ball. Using it to practice building and manifesting thought forms. Also there was talk of a large underground cache of gold in those mountains, which, as far as I know remains undiscovered.(Quien sabe) Many fond, and interesting memories from that time in my life. Most subjective as far as they go. One which I always found curious was the time I sat and watched the channeler, a dear friend named Syd, go completely clear. The rest of the room remained completely unchanged, but over about a 10 second period, he went from full physical, to completely transparent, then back. Anyway, thought I'd ask. Fred

![]() I'll check that cult one you linked later tonight. And I agree with what you said, I think we are all knowledge hungry, especially after realizing much of what we've been taught from authority is at best only half truths. So it is very easy to jump into another system of be-lie-fs, especially when lured with good intentions. These guys don't only try to write our future with various conspiracies, but have also written much of our history to make it look so much more believable. The truth is in the my-stories, not the his-story! And they even tell us such in the words themselves ![]() ![]() Fredkc - thanks for sharing that experience, I found it quite interesting. |

Phtha, I'm fairly new to Avalon, and I am just as dismayed by some of the garbage here. Thing is, there are gems in this stuff, and we have to sort through it all. It takes some time, but there are enough of those gems to justify the searching. By gems, I mean info AND people. Please be one of the gems who continue to contribute...tip the balance, eh? Thank you for all of your wonderful insights. Pleeeeese don't leave us.

Thanks lindabaker, and your right there sure are a lot of real gems here, as you say both the knowledge and the people.
Actually I just took a week off from the internet, and don't have a radio or tv, so I forgot that the swine flu even existed until I plugged back in. ![]() I'll be sticking around for sure, but I think its a great idea to take long breathers now and then, to help sort out all that junk mail as they say. All the best2u! btw, one thing I love about Avalon is people here don't seem to judge based on post count or how long we have been members. I've been to other forums where people get the "omg n00b, you only have 10 posts so your wrong." treatment. ![]() It's that damn authority thing again. Quote:
