View Full Version : A Note on Terminology

Hello, everyone. I've been researching the whole esoteric/ET/paranormal/etc. field for a while now (though I am still very much an amateur), and I noticed some potentially disturbing terminology used throughout this forum, as well as other places.

My apologies in advance if this offends; it is not my intention to be abrasive, but instead, to add a drop of water in this massive ocean that is life.

I've seen the words 'resonate' and 'awakening/awake' a lot. I understand, of course, that these have become widely used nomenclature for a reason, but I want to take a moment to remind us that words have power, and subconsciously mold how we think, how we perceive things.

I believe there is an inherent danger in using these words, 'resonate' in particularly, as they sort of close you off. While we are all certainly more aware than we were before our 'awakenings', I feel like 'awakening' has the propensity to kindle one's ego: it implies superiority, in a way. We must all remember to be humble. Even the most experienced or knowledgeable of us humans, really, knows very little.

And as for the word 'resonate', well, I think that word just closes you off. If something resonates with you, then it must be something that, in a manner of speaking, makes you comfortable. It rings bells that have been raised in our minds. Touches on themes in our psyches. To me, if something resonates with you, then you should question it even more. Aren't we all here precisely because we rejected the comforts of mainstream society, the convenient sham so many still cling to? Didn't we all, more or less, face the more insidious, or the more outlandish, head-on, or, at the very least, without total dismissal?

I believe it's important that we continually push ourselves beyond our comfort zones, so that we may learn and grow. And by adopting terminology that we just casually throw around, perhaps, we are putting ourselves more in a box, rather than out of it.

Just my 2 cents. Of course, I'm not saying those words are never okay to use, even in those contexts. Nor am I trying to be overtly negative, or infer that we should view all of these unexplainable phenomena in with scorn or fear. It is simply imperative that now, more than ever, we remain objective and vigilant, and that, dear friends, begins with self-awareness.

These might be a good place to start observing the terms objectively and rationally:

you have to also understand that when someone get a glimpse of something he had not seen before, excitement sets in so much so that more often than not the person considers himself awake. This happens to me too until at some point I began realizing my foolishness in many aspects It was many and disgusting. however I find comfort in believing that at least I now have the opportunity to correct those foolishness.
In the end its only terminology which means that it can have many different meanings depending on who uses it. The thing that I found funny is how people got into the awakening wagon chasing what looks to me something that does not exist. Been there done that and its one of those many F aspects i consider.

Language changes
The identities remain the same

There was a time when 'resonate', an old word, was relatively uncommon in the public vernacular, and used mostly by those interested in the deeper meaning of life, but it became a cliche, and cliches, while rooted in truth, bring a particular visual picture to the public mind which may or may not be accurate usually not. There was a time when 'illuminati' was relatively uncommon in the public vernacular, but it became a cliche. Before that it was the 'establishment'. Last I checked it was 'deep state' but that too will change. All the same thing.

Telepathic people understand that words become irrelevant, indeed fall by the wayside during the experience. Translating on a piece of paper afterwards is often a struggle for such individuals, as they know whatever results will only be a facsimile. They are talking about a particular thing or feeling that everyone understands, but only have the language of the times to describe it.

As we are doing now
