These are rather older articles but helped me understand the extent of the "secret military networks" that were "left behind" in Europe after WW2 under NATO ( purportedly) and actually began covert actions against their own democratic governments that didn't even know they existed. I believe they are referred to as the Gladio AKA The secret Knife against Communist invasion. They would become guerilla resistance in countries even after they had surrendered to the UUSR. In late January 2008, a secret paramilitary group (formerly?) allied with America was busted in Turkey. Thirteen members of a shadowy right-wing group in Turkey were charged with “forming an armed terrorist group in order to provoke members of the public into armed revolt against the government.”
