Saturated Fats
I would like to bring everyone attention to something that affects us all everyday.
It seems to me that we have been mislead to believe that saturated fats are bad for our health when in fact the exact opposite appears to be true. Saturated fats not only appear to be the most important fat for our health but also essiential part of a healthy diet.
The following article gives a great argument in favour of why saturated fats are important.
http://www.westonaprice.org/know-your-fats/526-skinny-on-fats.html
Here are the benifits of staurated fats taken directly from the article above:
•Saturated fatty acids constitute at least 50% of the cell membranes. They are what gives our cells necessary stiffness and integrity.
•They play a vital role in the health of our bones. For calcium to be effectively incorporated into the skeletal structure, at least 50% of the dietary fats should be saturated.
•They lower Lp(a), a substance in the blood that indicates proneness to heart disease. They protect the liver from alcohol and other toxins, such as Tylenol.
•They enhance the immune system.
•They are needed for the proper utilization of essential fatty acids. Elongated omega-3 fatty acids are better retained in the tissues when the diet is rich in saturated fats.
•Saturated 18-carbon stearic acid and 16-carbon palmitic acid are the preferred foods for the heart, which is why the fat around the heart muscle is highly saturated. The heart draws on this reserve of fat in times of stress.
•Short- and medium-chain saturated fatty acids have important antimicrobial properties. They protect us against harmful microorganisms in the digestive tract.
This information is founded upon the work of Dr. Weston A. Price (1870-1948). Dr. Price studied and compared traditional diets with that of modern day diets. The following article summarizes his work. It also has interesting information on "Activator X".

Finally this article outlines many important things about nutrition that you may want to consider.

Of course we've been misled. Studies that show ill effects of sat fats use meat/fats from grain fed animals. Grass fed meat/fat is pure healing at it's best.
Anyway, business always twists the results of studies for their gain. At the core of the studies they use to convince us that sat fats are bad is the truth that they are not. unbiased science has known this for many years.

tea ty for this post....it just amazes me on how big pharma and the media are brain washing us.....you know when we start playing with our diets we are messing around with our dna,as i say the powers to be dont want to us too know this information ,just another controlling issue that we are faced with come dna is on a cellular level and what we put in our bodies has alot to do with the cells that make us live,i would also like to say that simavastins are more dangerous to the body saying as if we had a bad ldl level or an elevated cholesteral level.....control is what this about big pharma doesnt want us to know the truth about saturated levels oin our bloodstreamm....ty for posting this thread again....love light and abundance ....thirdeye...../

As far as I know coconut and a high quality butter, perferably organic cultured butter, will cover all the different chain lenghts of saturated fats (short, medium and long). I found creamed coconut at one of my local grocery strores, it's cheap, easy and long lasting, and the only ingredient is coconut. I eat both of these liberally throughout the day.
I would also like to say that since I introduced much higher levels of saturated fat into my diet that virtually all my skin calluses have disapeared and my skin quality seems to have improved.

For the best info on fats, read Dr. JoAnna Budwig. Fats are one of THE best sources of nutrition. That's why they are called ESSENTIAL fatty acids. And yes, coconut oil was demonized in the 50s and 60s by the newly emerging vegetable oil (processed to death...vile, putrid black oily death) industry. Coconut fats are incredible nourishing. Soooo many benefits!
If we make only one change in our diets, let's change how we eat fats. Eat them raw and unprocessed. Mother Nature insists. And get the proper balance of omegas 3, 6, and 9. There are others in minute amounts, but not worth going into here.

many online stores also have organic coconut chips. taste great and it saves a lot of work. i also added organic butter + cheese made from raw milk to my otherwise vegan diet because it's actually healthy in limited amounts. the most important thing really is to consume the stuff raw, not just fats but also proteins and all the rest. after all, if your own body is heated beyond a certain point it dies and the same happens to all life so if you eat lots of dead things they will inevitably accelerate your demise as well.

Within reason, I believe that if you do the exact opposite the experts, leaders, MSM suggest, you will be doing the right thing.

I agree that raw milk and raw milk products seem to be the best choice, but they have been illegal in Canada for some time now. If you have that option then go for it.

Haibane, thanks for the video but my problem with it is that it seems like they are promoting fast food as being potentially not so dangerous.
Actually, if you take a quick look at most fast food places such as McDonalds, you will see that there is not much saturated fat offered in their food at all. Most of it, by far, is refined sugars and carbohydrates. In my opinion these are the killers as far as weight gain goes, and they just bog down your body all together.
Example:
•Coke: SUGAR, and god knows what else.
•Fries: Potateos(?) cooked in some sort or vegetable oil no doubt (vegetable oil is moslty polyunsaturated fat. Not good).
•Burger: The beef(?) will contain some saturated fat here, but from what I remember it only looks like flesh, which it not so fatty, and the patty is so thin to begin with. Of course, we should also consider sauces.
From this list it appears that a condiment (cream for coffee?) has the highest level of saturated fat among their products.

As someone mentioned, eat most of your foods raw. Heat kills digestive enzymes critical to digestion. The digestive system must have them, so it steals from the internal organs. Primarily the pancreas. Over time the donating organs become exhausted and degenerative dis-ease begins. If you must eat cooked foods supplement with enzymes. Save your organs!

If anyone is interested in enzymes, you may want to look into the superfood bee pollen. It contains over 5000 different enzymes. :thumb:

I eat two tsps of propolis every day. Enzymes and complex B vitamins just a few of the many uses for bee pollen.

Uncooked (raw) coconut oil is the best saturated fat for our bodies.
It actually LOWERS cholesterol (really..).
Saturated fat only becomes a problem when we fry it at high temperatures so it becomes an oxidized free radical that sticks to your arteries because it no longer has any electric charge (read up on biophotons).

We switched back to butter. I don't like margarine (ugh). As for raw foods, I like some and others I have a hard time digesting them. Unless its grind down (especially nuts). I love coconut oil. Even use it on my skin.

Same for me. Butter, coconut oil and for cold use, as in salads, good quality olive oil.
Olive oil with a few drops of lavender essential oil is lovely as body oil.
Coconut oil and olive oil for your face is great. For day and night . LOL......
Have been using it for years ........ and it's cheap !

spot on CONK.
found out about the benefits of enzymes in your raw food diet some years back. as a retired pawpaw (papaya) grower i discovered it and pineapples to be the best source of enzymes to take the load off your pancreas. so i have continued eating pawpaw daily, even though i now have to buy them.
anybody with access to pawpaw as part of their regular diet can check out webb sites on the internet, hundreds and hundreds of sites and benefits can be got from this fruit.
never did swallow that margarine spiel, also - soy, was never meant for human consumption, but, advertisements work, and the more money you throw at that, the more it works.
got a lot of comfort from reading this thread, thank you, contributors ... kev

I enjoy coconut oil as well as olive oil, and I don't skimp when I used it, either. I only recently found out about this stuff myself. I have spent years and years avoiding fat like the plague. Eating more saturated fat did not make me gain any weight. In fact, I lost about 20 lbs this year- not that I was overweight. It was cutting out all of the extra sugar that really did it for me anyway. I also don't have high cholesterol or blood pressure. The fat thing has been a lie for so long. Think of the older folks from the country. They ate high fat meals every day, but they had meat and eggs, as well as milk from their own farms. Everything was homemade. I have found that if I cook with whole foods and avoid all the junk and processed foods I stay thin and healthy. It is the fake crap that is making people fat and unhealthy, not real fat from food.

My parents are 91 and 87 years old. Still living on their own, in total health, as they have always been.
All their live they only used real butter and olive oil. Every morning an egg. Daily fruit and one or two glasses of wine.
That has been their basis for at least the last 50 years.
Further they have always told and showed me that the key to eating a healthy diet is always going to be moderation and variation .

"Unless its grind down (especially nuts). " Nuts, if eaten raw, must be soaked in water for a few hours. I soak mine overnight and eat the next day. Nuts have enzyme inhibitors that keep the nuts almost indefinately. Because of this reason nuts are great long term storage foods. Most other foods do not have these compounds and will eventually rot.
The body uses perhaps hundreds of thousands of different enzymes in it's functions. You don't want inhibitors working against them.
Squirrels know this too. When they collect the nuts in their mouth and take to the nest, they then blow them off to dry. Sometimes they use the hair dryer. Yes, I'm kidding about the whole squirrel thing. ;)
