Has anyone seen the ads on TV for the 911 commemorative silver coins being sold now that are made with metal recovered from Ground Zero?
What I'm wondering is if they are radioactive.

There was silver in the World Trade Center? I heard there was a gold heist before the 9/11 event.

So, is silver being made into an alloy with some metals from the WTC?

Frankly, I'd rather buy US or Canadian silver dollars for my money.

haven't seen an add for that in over a month, the adds come back about twice a year here in Texas.

These ads make me sick. Just more 9/11 exploitation by greedy, careless bastards.

AGREED, I wouldn't buy one even if they where worth something.
And I doubt that the folks who died that day/911 ever saw a penny.

The rule of the thumb with coins is that if they are not minted by the U.S Mint, they are worthless relics. I suppose you could make a case for the Franklin Mint but otherwise, worthless relics.

Not necessarily true Humble Janitor. Many valuable coins are made by other entities. The majority of my coins are made by other than the U.S. Mint. They are still gold, silver, and platinum, regardless of where they were stamped.
