An odd situation.
A dumptruck was parked on the tracks.
An Amtrak train hit the dumptruck.
Members of Congress were hurt.
This came after the State of the Union address. Coincidence? Or something else?

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. -- A train carrying members of Congress -- including House Speaker Paul Ryan -- to their legislative retreat in West Virginia hit a truck Wednesday, multiple sources told CNN.
An aide confirmed Ryan was on the train and is fine. Separately, a congressman on the train told CNN most of the staff and members on the train are OK.
The Amtrak train left from Union Station in Washington earlier Wednesday, and was carrying members of Congress, as well as their spouses, some family members and aides to the lawmakers.
Rep. John Faso, a New York Republican, who was on the train that crashed, said he was able to see the truck that hit the train, and that he was told that injuries were expected from people in the truck, not train.
"There was (what) looks like a tractor trailer carrying trash that was hit by the train," Faso, who said he was in the third car of the train, told CNN.
"I think everyone on the train is OK," Faso said. "I don't know that for sure, it's a long train. But most of the concern is for the people outside."
One GOP source was unsure how many members of Congress were on the train or how many people were injured, but said there were injuries.
That source said members "hit the deck."
Republican members of Congress were on their way for a retreat at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, starting Wednesday and ending Friday. Vice President Mike Pence, who was not on the train, is scheduled to speak to members later Wednesday and President Donald Trump is scheduled to address the event tomorrow.

Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona told The Washington Post that there were three passengers on the truck, with one dead and two injured. Flake said he and other lawmakers carried one of the injured truck passengers to an ambulance with local medical personnel.
The Amtrak train crashed with the truck in Crozet, which is west of Charlottesville, at 11:20 a.m. local time.

Nebraska Reps. Jeff Fortenberry and Don Bacon are both safe after an Amtrak train carrying dozens of GOP lawmakers crashed into a garbage truck en route to a retreat in West Virginia.
Forteberry's family was also on the train, he tweeted: "Jarring, but everyone OK on train."
He added that someone on the truck appeared to be seriously injured, possibly dead. "A number of Members of Congress who are doctors tried to help," he tweeted.
It was unclear if other members of Nebraska's federal delegation were on board.
The crash happened near Charlottesville, Virginia. The train was carrying members of the House and Senate, plus some family members and aides, en route to the Greenbrier resort in White Sulfur Springs for a three-day issues retreat featuring appearances by President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.
Oklahoma GOP Rep. Tom Cole said he felt "a tremendous jolt" when the accident occurred at about 11:15 a.m. EST, nearly two hours after it left Washington.
He said the train stopped quickly after impact. He said several GOP lawmakers who are doctors got off the train to assist, including Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, who was also at last June's shooting of Republicans at a baseball practice in nearby Alexandria, Virginia, and treated some of the victims.
Other doctor-lawmakers who helped included Reps. Michael Burgess, R-Texas, Phil Roe, R-Tenn., and Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La.
Cole said the front of the train hit a vehicle that appeared to be a trash truck, which he said was torn in half. He said the accident apparently occurred at or near a crossing because he could see railroad crossing gates.

update - FOX news has Rachel Campos Duffy's wife reporting that there are NO injuries on board, contradicting Rep/ Chuck Fleischmann's tweets.
FOX then got Fleischmann to report via phone. He reports that the train is now being pulled back to it's starting destination, where the people on the train will be transported by BUS to their retreat. Pence and Trump are scheduled to meet at the retreat within a day.
Roger Marshall reports that there were people with head injuries on the train.
The train was running at about 70 mph when the impact happened.
According to Brad Byrne, this retreat is an ESSENTIAL MEETING, where the upcoming year's agenda will be developed.
VP Pence tweets, still heading to the retreat. (That this won't stop him or others to proceed ahead).
Dr Marshall reports that the first person had a crushed airway (no pulse), and they tried to work on them to keep them alive (but failed), then they went to work on the second person, and managed to stabilize them, where they were transported to a local hospital. No word on the 3rd person from the trash truck such as why they were there stopped on the track.
This is not the first time this sort of thing happened. TWO years in a row, there have been 'accidents' on getting to the retreat.
Jeb Hensarling (Texas) reports at least 2 people (reps) from the train were transported to UVA Health Systems (hospital). There were two Amtrak employees also injured.
Jeb reports that he will do the retreat. That this retreat is essential for planning the business needed for the upcoming year.
Back at CharlottesVille, VA its a scene out of 911 - police are everywhere, from state police, capitol police, sheriff's and local police. Security checks everywhere.
1:38pm the train (more than a dozen cars) is arriving at CharlottesVille. A convoy of buses sits in the parking lot.
Words being used by the congressional members - "We WILL be doing the People's Work"..
Railroad investigator says, no warning lights were flashing (when he saw the train moving out from the crash site), but/and this particular location was in a relatively hidden spot, on an uphill incline, treelined,and on a curve and the Amtrak engineers would have had a hard time to see a vehicle on the tracks at this location until it was too late. (John Hiatt railroad investigator). Hiatt also said there is no logical reason what-so-ever that this train should have been moved until the preliminary investigation was completed. He felt it unusual that the track was cleared so quickly and declared safe to move the train.
Michael Burgess (R) Texas contradicts the Rail Road investigator.
Burgess says the gates were down, lights flashing (how would he know that?) One could assume that crossing gates would have been destroyed during such a crash.. ? If so (gates) why was the dumptruck on the track around the gates? Contradictions are starting to build. He also contradicts the speed, saying it was only 50-60 mph. How would he know that?
Burgess says it's just an accident, no conspiracy, nothing sinister there.. (1:54 pm in an interview live with FOX)
hmmm... "move along, nothing to see here"... now where have we seen that before.. Could we assume the earlier congressmen and their families are being told to shut up and let the appropriate spokespersons explain it all.. who would be telling them that if such is the case, why the contradictions? Those injured spoke out early and probably accurately. Burgess says he was not injured, just sitting at a table talking to other people there.
Fox news reported on-site at the Amtrak station in CharlottesVille, VA reports that the feed going back to the networks IS being delayed by 20 seconds, so it is not actually LIVE but is being censored, monitored..
News helicopters are flying over the crash site. SWAT members are starting to converge all over the Amtrak Station.

There are NO crossing gates seen in the recent google-earth satellite views of the accident site, but two light poles indicating a train may be coming can be seen on the sides of the road. Now it is possible that the gates are very thin and relatively invisible from Satellite views not able to cast a shadow.. If they were down, it would be easy to drive around them. In an early live view from FOX on the ground at the crossing, one cannot SEE any gates, but possibly a mechanism on the flashing lights poles (without any gates attached). Were there gates damaged? Were there no gates but the mechanism there? Unknown at this time. Subsequent "views" of the scene NOW show a gate across both sides of the track. The SIZE of the GATE(s) appear to "change" in whatever news agency is reporting on images at the accident scene..
There appears to be a very small pedestrian style of gate as shown by live Fox news cameras on site. Such a small gate does not seem like it would warn a truck to not cross. Another suggestion presented to me, was there a gunman in the truck telling the driver to stop on the tracks? Conjecture, hard telling at this point.

The current images (allegedly supplied live images from the ground by a FOX news reporter on-site), show the "gates" to be DOWN and about 6-8 foot long.. The above image (still image) shows much LONGER GATES.. Again a strange anomaly in all the images.

Update-
Rolling back Google Earth to 2009 there is less foliage, and there CAN be seen large crossing gates (up at that time), and notice the WHITE trash truck (?) towards the bottom right. That seems to match the "dumptruck" in the crash images for today..

Just pure evil at work. The repubs have been given another message. Shooting Scalise and assaulting Paul wasn't enough. An en masse message now. The manchurian candidate in the truck is of course dead but who cares, the point is the message to the repubs loud and clear, do not support your president.
On top of that now Wray is saying he opposes releasing the Memo. Don't know if he overrides Trump in this regard or not, but man, we barely get 24 hrs of a little optimism that these demons just don't quit. Hope the repubs hold on but I can see them being scared now...
The elites want their one world government at all costs, the modus operandi - repub betrayal, race and gender tyranny, etc., etc...

Is it time for patriots whether alt or mainstream to start talking about who the dems, rogue intel and media serve? Fox news will call it the 'deep state' but is it time for people to start talking about the ruling class families who own the banks etal and their desire for one world government?
So much talk of corruption, corruption but it's filters to the minds of most americans as accusations that one party throws at another and I don't think gets much deeper. It's chancy for people more mainstream to start talking like Alt hosts but maybe it's time? Will the average american just register this as a coincidence?

No,.. Wray doesn't over-ride Trump: it's Trump's & Trump's decision alone. I consider this a deliberate attack on the GOP's (thank God they weren't in an airplane!). FOX NEWS reporting members are continuing the journey by bus. (Don't give up Helene, rumour has it the decision as to WHEN the Memo is going to be released will be TODAY)... ie within the next 5 days

Congress-Woman Meme Walters in car number 6 reports a "jolt", saying obviously we hit something.. She says "we saw trash every where", and eventually the train came to a stop. Then the next thing she knew doctors from on the train were trying to get out of the train to try to help those in the cab of the dumptruck. She says she says she intends to go to the retreat at the GreenBrier.
It is noted that not ALL republican members of congress were on that train.
Possibly looking at who was NOT on the train might be an interesting study..
For instance, Congressman Tom Garrett (R-VA) was not on the train. Indiana Reps. Luke Messer and Todd Rokita were not on board.
Scalise was not on Wednesday's Amtrak train, Stephen Joseph Scalise is the current United States House of Representatives Majority Whip and representative for Louisiana's 1st congressional district, serving since 2008. Scalise was wounded in June when a gunman opened fire on Republican lawmakers practicing in a Washington, D.C., suburb for a charity baseball game.

Amtrak said in a statement that the train came into contact with a vehicle that was on the tracks at 11:20 a.m. in Crozet, Virginia, outside Charlottesville. Amtrak’s statement said “There are no reported injuries to passengers or crew members” as of noon
National Transportation Safety Board says it “is launching a Go-Team to the scene of the Amtrak accident in VA. More information will be released as it becomes available.”
US Capitol Police said congressional officials, including the USCP, are on the scene and are working closely with partner law enforcement agencies in response to the incident.

A train carrying Republican lawmakers on their way to their retreat at the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia hit a truck, a GOP staffer on Capitol Hill confirmed to the Washington Examiner. One person was killed in the crash, according to the White House.
"The President has been fully briefed on the situation in Virginia and is receiving regular updates. There is one confirmed fatality and one serious injury. There are no serious injuries among members of Congress or their staff," said White House press secretary Sarah Sanders in a statement.
"Senior administration officials are in regular contact with Amtrak and state and local authorities. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone that has been affected by this incident."
Most lawmakers on the train were reported to be OK, though some on board sustained injuries. The train was also carrying members' spouses and staff members to the retreat in White Sulphur Springs. A spokesperson for the Congressional Institute told the Examiner one lawmaker was taken to the hospital and a GOP aide said that lawmaker was Rep. Jason Lewis, R-Minn.
A House GOP aide said Lewis had been taken to a local hospital to be treated for a concussion.
"I'm fine compared to, tragically, the truck drivers," Lewis said in a statement to the Examiner.
A spokeswoman for Amtrak said two of its crew members and a second passenger were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Amtrak did not identify the second passenger.
The accident occurred in Albemarle County, Va., west of Crozet, Va., and is currently under investigation.

Here's the front of the train, a ways further down the track, heading west, toward West Virginia. The portion of the train showing in the earlier images on this thread is, I believe, the tail end of the train, that had almost passed through the railroad crossing before coming to a complete stop.

From my distance, I won't call this a "false flag".
I think it was an attempt to wipe out the REPs in Congress.

Greenbrier Train Crash
The day after the State of the Union address, which was widely applauded and well received by the American public, and the day before the Republican FISA memo was to be released by the White House, an Amtrak train - carrying numerous GOP representatives, and their families, and including the Speaker of the House Paul Ryan - narrowly missed being derailed. The amount of injured has been bumped up to 70. The freight train was carrying diesel fuel.
As of noon local east coast time, the Amtrak train folks say 59 mph at the time, not 80.. And that injuries are now 116 taken to the hospital. 2 dead, Amtrak employees.
At 80 mph on a curve not designed for speed, a train could easily fly off or the track could split (destabilize from it's supports).. High speed tracks are specially designed, and one can see the amazing speeds that the Japanese Bullet trains travel..
But an Amtrak train is another story.
Congress has been witholding budgets from AMTRAK, as early as 2005/6 and a major 'stink' in 2015 happened.

I updated the above post with some history on Amtrak, who put the 'wheels in motion' (Nixon), and the 'track record' of derailments, and accidents of the Amtrak carrier system.
To be done, a cross-correlation analysis of political parties in power (both in Amtrak and Congress/Whitehouse), and budgetary manipulation to see if there have been conspiracies, or just "innocent" accidents.

I think it was warned.
Helicopter surveillance saw the truck and warned the engineer.
I'm guessing truck was kitty korner between the crossbucks with the back end (dumpster lift hydraulics boom) facing the oncoming train.
Train hits boom, spins truck around and rips body off the cab, leaving the cab at the crossing. Train drags truck body down the tracks until the body rolls off down the embankment.
Question is, if truck tried to run crossing, why didn't occupants flee cab when getting stuck, unless train hit the truck just as it was trying to run the crossing.?
Have to figure, though, if aerial surveillance sees truck and warns engineer, the truck had to have been there for a while, so why didn't occupants flee?
If the truck was there as a plant, the only sense I can make of it is that the occupants were patsies, i.e., they were told they were only going to force the train to stop, on the idea of an antifa protest.
I don't think surveillance would see a truck headed towards the crossing and tell the engineer to brake, assuming the truck would stop on the tracks. However, it could be that the access road was closed and any traffic was regarded as a danger.
Key is how fast does an amtrak train usually go through there, and how fast was this one going. If this train was slower, then why?

Anderson said CSX owns and controls the Columbia Subdivision tracks where the crash occurred and is responsible for overseeing the dispatching of trains and signal systems.

He said he did not know the reason for the signal outage. Anderson said the Amtrak train would normally travel on the main line track, not the section of the track where the collision occurred.

The issues included lack of authentication protections, systems using very old operating systems, and hard-coded passwords for remote access.
There are also worrying design choices in the trains themselves, such as having entertainment devices for customers and engineering systems on the same network, meaning that accessing the former may lead to a compromise of the latter.
What a trophy for a hacker? If they managed to hack the Amtrak lines, especially causing Congress (Reps) harm.. Is that insidious or is that what happened?

The UK rail network has been infiltrated in four major cyber attacks over the past year according to cyber security firm Darktrace.
Darktrace, the private firm responsible for the cyber safety of a large part of the UK rail network, hasn’t released much information on the nature of the attacks, or who was behind them, but has said they seemed to be exploratory rather than disruptive in intention.
This has, however, raised some fears for passenger security as experts say that hackers infiltrating the system to cause damage to the rail network is a real possibility.
"Sergey Gordeychik, a security researcher at Kaspersky Lab in Moscow, told Sky News that as well as being able to gain access to harmless things like information boards, hackers could access larger computer management systems that control tains and signals.
"Gordeychik said that if malicious hackers “have enough knowledge, then they can create real disaster related to train safety.“
"Dave Palmer, the chief technology officer of Darktrace, told the Telegraph “In an era of imperfect defences and increasingly complex networks, determined threats can always get in. Today, all businesses can be affected, regardless of size or sector.”

The Sobig computer virus was blamed for shutting down train signaling systems throughout the East coast of the US. The virus infected the computer system at CSX Corp.‘s Jacksonville, Fla., headquarters, shutting down signaling, dispatching and other systems at about 1:15 a.m. EDT, CSX spokesman Adam Hollingsworth said (#2).
Impact:
The Sobig infection resulted in a slowdown of major applications, including dispatching and signal systems. As a result, passenger and freight train traffic was halted immediately, including the morning commuter train service in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area. The virus disrupted the CSXT telecommunications network upon which certain systems rely, including signal, dispatching and other operating systems. (#1)
According to Amtrak spokesman Dan Stessel, ten Amtrak trains were affected in the morning. Trains between Pittsburgh and Florence, S.C. were halted because of dark signals and one regional Amtrak train from Richmond, Va., to Washington and New York was delayed for more than two hours. Long-distance trains were delayed between four and six hours.
There were some residual delays in Amtrak service from Washington to Richmond, Va., and points south, ``Most of the delays are in the 15 to 30-minute range on trains that travel through CSX territory,’’ Stessel said. (#2)

Maybe CSX didn't really fix the problem and that CSX (the maintainer of the switches/signals) had been hacked with a backdoor just waiting for high value targets to pass thru the system.
This potentially looks bad.
(Note to Bill - this may be the smoking gun in the system, CSX's 2003 infiltration lain in a backdoor.. Considering the quantity of high value targets that travel from NY to DC and throughout the Amtrak system.. Possibly folks looking up more of the origin of the creators and deployers of the Sobig virus would help background research.. B.)

A few days ago, "Q" cryptically alluded to this also in reference to (then) upcoming false flags with a symbol for 2 x parallel train tracks...

tracking back, in 2000, 3 years prior CSX was having switch and signal problems.
Here is the coincidence.. 3 years prior to SoBig, SendSafe was being deployed. Testing out apparently how to create payloads transferred by email to target computers.
3.4 Conjecture: Send-Safe and Sobig
The Send-Safe software appears to have direct links to the Sobig virus.

Within two days after Sobig was released, an estimated $50 million in damages were reported in the US alone.
China had reported over 30% of email traffic had been infected by Sobig, equivalent to over 20 million users!
After interrupting freight operations and grounding Air Canada, Sobig went on to cripple computing operations within even the most advanced technology companies, such as Lockheed Martin.
Sobig was so virulent that on November 5, 2003 Microsoft, in coordination with the FBI, Secret Service, and Interpol, setup the Anti-Virus Reward Program.
Backed by $5 million from Microsoft, the program offered a $250,000 bounty for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the Sobig author.
As the one year anniversary of the Anti-Virus Reward Program bounty for Sobig approaches, we felt this was an appropriate time to publicly release the current state of our Sobig forensic investigation.
Appropriately, the authors of this document have chosen to release it anonymously for many reasons, some of which are:
• By releasing the information publicly, we hope to increase tips to law enforcement concerning the Sobig authorship and spur efforts toward apprehension of the malware author(s);

Ibragimov himself is the author of Send-Safe, a bulk mailing tool product that was explicitly
designed for sending unsolicited email (spam).

• Advanced knowledge: Ibragimov has demonstrated an advanced knowledge of Sobig outbreaks.
• The releases of Send-Safe coincide with Sobig releases;
• New features in Send-Safe coincide with Sobig features;
• A specific spam group that use Send-Safe was observed relaying through Sobig-infected
systems as much as two weeks before the official outbreak.
This same group has been observed using specific versions of Send-Safe prior to public release (using pre-released software);
The time that the group was observed using Sobig (prior to public announcement) corresponds with the Internet Storm Center recording an increase in port scans for Sobig-infected systems.
• Necessary (coding) skills:
Based on the attributes and overall functionality of Sobig, the developer would require the following skills:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Visual C++;
• Self-compressing executables;
• Email and spam;
• Proxies.
Ibragimov has demonstrated these skills and knowledge: Send-Safe is a spam tool designed to send email using proxies, written in Microsoft Visual C++, and self-compressed. (Ibragimov developed Send-Safe)
• Source code access: Sobig and Send-Safe share a common source code base.
• Unique source code creates unique opcodes within the executable code.
Both the Sobig and Send-Safe software share large sections of common opcode
sequences, implying the same source code;
The common source code is used to both generate and send email;
• The email headers are unique to Send-Safe;
• Sobig includes code for an email header that it does not use.
This unused code appears in the same order as the Send-Safe executable – and the code is used in Send-Safe;
• Ibragimov has not publicly released the source code to Send-Safe (or any of his other
programs, to our knowledge).
Send-Safe predates Sobig by a few years, indicating Ibragimov had access to the original code base used to develop Sobig;
• Ibragimov has demonstrated a pattern of reusing source code.
Large blocks of opcodes found in Send-Safe appear in other programs created by Ibragimov.
• Plausible motive: As Send-Safe provides a list of open proxies to subscribers, there is a clear financial motive for Ibragimov to have created the Sobig worm.
• As Sobig opens additional ports, this provides more open proxies for Send-Safe subscribers.
Based on these items that have been identified, we contend that Ruslan Ibragimov, or Ibragimov’s development team, authored Sobig in order to support and extend the Send-Safe customer base.

It is logical to assume, there was a variant of SoBig on the CSX computers somewhere which then even if some of the CSX computers were "cleared" of the trojan/backdoor, that some still remained and proceeded to allow for a backdoor. (and could spread BACKWARDS one again into already cleared computers to re-infect; that is part of the network infiltration characteristic of this worm/spyware).
It is my belief the FBI/Secret Service should look at that report that potentially Ibragimov, or Ibragimov’s development team, authored Sobig in order to support and extend the Send-Safe basic code and to then potentially allow for a more current group to have access to the US Railway system.
Russian Hacking? or someone else using an old back door.
Who is Ibragimov ? where is he now, and would he have knowledge of the CSX backdoor hacks?
A dialog thought: I would want to ask our forum member TargeT if he has any familiarity of the SoBig trojan/backdoor system and maybe scratch heads as to the plausibility that someone besides Ibragimov's development team (or Ibragimov himself) would/could have anything to do with current hacking of the East Coast CSX/AMTRAK system.

SoBig it was explained by various anti-virus software companies, had an "expiration date". So ponder this, that "explanation" was focused upon a "fake" section of the code, a "decoy".. designed to spoof anti-virus companies to ignore a "time bomb".. something which would "wake up" eventually, opening up one of the hidden backdoors.. to allow for access.
If one managed to get such a payload installed on the computers, why would a spyware developer just let their access easily "expire"? It makes no sense to go to that effort and then just walk away..
Again, I think there is something very big.. with this CSX infiltration. And where else did So-Big hit?

Update from NTSB and Amtrak - CSX was indeed manipulating the switches manually, moving and unloading freight from the CSX train until about 2:45 am. The switch responsible for the routing of the main track onto the siding was left locked in place by a CSX employee, and there were no SIGNALS operating - the Amtrak train then diverted into the siding, crashing into the CSX train. With "running dark" *no signals operating (something crashed the signals), the Amtrak train should have been running about 49 mph according to rules or less (running in "dark territory"). Initial reports that the train was running 80 mph certainly seem incorrect but the transponders are so damaged, they can't be restored to reveal what the speed was. No signalling equipment was working on the main line, so no reporting could have been relayed to dispatch.
The CSX freight on the siding routed switch SHOULD have been manually switched back to the main track to NOT divert into the siding any main-line traffic. Dispatch had no way to know what that switch position was in with no signals operating.
