Youtube strikes, bans and censorship, with links to backup and alternative sites

Youtube (now owned by the Alphabet, the parent company of Google) seems to be stepping up their censorship of "alternative" sites that don't agree with their views.

In previous months, Youtube was "demonetizing" some sites and some videos, reducing income to some sites.

In the last day, as I write this,Youtube has issued strikes against two Youtube channels that I frequently visit, for (it seems) criticizing the "mainstream" (they wish it was mainstream) news reports, such as from CNN, on a recent school shooting in Florida.

I am creating this thread to track Youtube channels that are, in the view of the poster, being unfairly demonetized, or unfairly getting strikes, bans or removals, and to post alternative ways to find the work of such valued contributors, if they are banned from Youtube.

I would like this thread to be a resource that Avalon members and guest readers can use, to continue to find the work of the contributors they value, when Youtube is blocking those contributors.

Examples of videos with key evidence opposing the "mainstream" story of key events, such as evidence that CNN was helping to script the comments of David Hogg about the recent Florida school shooting, may also occasionally be useful. I saw that video (the uncut version); it was damning of CNN and Hogg; but I didn't download and save it before Youtube censored every copy of it that they could find, so I can't post that on some relevant thread on Avalon, with a link from this thread.

I'd like to ask that we don't get too involved into the discussion of any particular one of the controversial stories of which Youtube is apparently trying to control the narrative. For more detailed discussions of any such story, please link to some other thread, that focuses on that particular story.

Let's keep this thread a useful resource,

for people to quickly scan for channels they might want to follow, despite Youtube strikes and bans,
for people to find other ways to continue to follow the work of such publishers, off Youtube,
for links to key evidentiary videos that Youtube has taken down,
for links to other Avalon threads, discussing in more detail a particular "Youtube banning" incident,
for people to track Youtube's efforts to shape the narrative and control the news.
for alternative websites where such work, especially videos, can be found.

One more thing - please make an effort to see if a particular report that you're making has already been made on this thread, to avoid the noise of too many duplicates. If you see a duplicate and choose to report it, I will consider combining or merging the duplicate posts into one post, if that seems right to me.

CNN interviewed Hogg about the Florida school shooting as part of their anti-gun agenda.

The very high cost of video hosting is the main nut to crack. Google seems to be subsidising it to stay in control of it. Can anyone else pour money into it like they can ?

A couple of months back, I noticed the views actually dropped on one of the videos. Their subscriber count is low, but the information is designed to wake people up about education, religion, government, media and the new age propaganda.

Over the last couple of weeks, their videos don’t show up in my news feed, and the notification bell is unreliable, so I’ve bookmarked their site. Other subscribers report the same in the comment section.

KiwiElf tracked down a copy of a key piece of evidence in the recent Florida school shooting that has been scrubbed multiple times from Youtube. The video shows what appears to be the confused details in an interview of one David Hogg, contradicting the official narrative and apparently scripted. This is very depressing. I listen to Richie Allen's show pretty much daily and I discovered last night that he's been deleted. This is a reminder for me to remember to start getting in the habit of ripping every youtube video that has important info and keeping it backed up safe. I'm also wondering if I should be putting more effort in to buying physical books rather than digital copies that can be removed ....

Facebook is changing beyond recognition for many too - myself included. I only use it to connect with other musicians these days, but still, all the informative posts and articles are rapidly disappearing from my feed and its mainly mindless garbage. I have to look for stuff.

Where does it stop? First its those that question the narrative, next it could be say, the invaluable information and documentaries about our health. For example, there's tons of excellent videos looking at the dairy industry and our health. I recently learned that the dairy industry's profits dropped by a whopping 11% last year as a result of people spreading the word ... So I can see where its going, next it will be huge industries demanding the censorship of anyone who exposes what they're doing to us.

Apologies for rambling but this is a clear path here - first its controlling our perception, next it will be our health, then it could be any content that unites and provides a platform for experiencers ...

Very odd - CNN witness caught rehearsing his lines

My question with this - How on earth did this video ever get out? Someone at CNN is onto something and hates the program, this type of footage does not get out unless someone is pissed. In my opinion, it would not prove the witness is lying, until it got released like this, there's no freaking way this got approved, someone wants the story BUSTED. Relating to this topic, I was wondering if these 'soft bans' or de-promoting certain content is also reflected on the Youtube homepage, where their algorithm recommends certain content for us. Not sure if this is a new trend or has been like this for ages, not really checked before - or whether this is even relevant. But this is what I found.

From the top of the page going down, I see channel after channel I have never visited before. Vids associated with nothing I have ever shown any interest in. Maybe these outlets/channels pay premiums for high listings, I don't know. Anyway, the very first two - top listed and 'recommended for you' are:

1. Bill Gates Chats with Ellen for the First Time - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5NJQiY9AuY
2. Billionaire Bill Gates Guesses Grocery Store Prices - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad_higXixRA

curious much? I've not watched any Bill Gates videos recently, can't think I've ever watched any. I have never even accidently watched bloody Ellen Degeneres.

Below it, MY recommended channels (tailored specially for MY interest! i assume)

- Talk Shows - including Kimmel (never seen it), Stephen Colbert (never seen), Anne Coulter (never heard of), Good Morning Britain (give me a break)

- Dark Journalist - Correct, Youtube got this right

- X-Factor -with vids of various acts (forgive me while I gag a little)

- This Morning, in other words, british daytime TV garbage (nowhere near my radar)

- Sports Highlights, 2 football highlights clips (this is true, I do watch these) 3 basketball vids (never seen, not my sport)

- Fade to Black, Jimmy Church, yup that one's true

- Eminem, the rapper, with 3 Eminem vids and 1 Jay-Z (I have no watching history of this at all)

- Ed Sheeren, a musician apparently, who I have no knowledge of, or interest in

- Indie Music, a vid of a street busker, and 1 vid about Chuck Norris strangely... Youtube must have me confused with someone else

- Entertainment, total randomness, including something about Jennifer Lawrence (who?), and a vid on a food tasting test

- Lionel Nation, has appeared for me recently, and this is an accurate entry on the list of recommendations.

- Software, various computer related videos, Qanon also appears here, so accurate.

- Gaming, various gaming videos, which sometimes I do watch, like latest releases - but all listed games here are not my thing at all, they look like manga type games.

So, most of these are just plain wrong. Now, way down the page, after a further 4 listings, including more football, film trailers, music, another gaming entry, I come to my actual most frequently visited channels of late:

One of the problems is almost total lack of organization and co-ordination in the alt media, but that's no-one's fault. It's just really very hard, as there's no hierarchy or formal leadership of any kind: just a genuine, unorganized, very loose network, basically predicated on personal contacts between colleagues.

But imagine: if all the alt media journalists (and I count myself among them, certainly historically) ALL AT ONCE pulled their videos from YouTube and ALL AT ONCE went to [say] Vimeo, never to return.

That would be quite something.

I think Bill's idea of pulling all alt media youtube accounts at once and going elsewhere is grand.
Maybe the account holders can start by emailing to one person and they then email another account holder with names listed and growing-so on and so forth until the exodus points are clearly decided and executed.
This idea of mass exodus excites me greatly- so often the control over truth is covered in manure. Let's make compost out of it and grow something substantial.

I was mulling over 'Why start banning things?' Invariably it leads to more interest as people are curious to see what was said, banning things tends to raise awareness not squash it.

This list (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-viewed_YouTube_videos) on Wiki pertains to be the most viewed videos, we're talking billions of views. I didn't scan the entire list but it seems to be all music videos at a glance. Why concern yourself with videos getting 40,000 hits when the demographics clearly show most people simply aren't interested?

The “mike m.” video also found traction on Twitter, on Facebook and in stories and comment threads on conspiracy sites. It rose in the circuitous and unexpected manner of a viral video, rather than one that had been calculated to game YouTube’s algorithms by seizing on interest in breaking news or tragedy—it had no catchy headline, no recognizable personality, no vast theorizing. We upload a lot of content to our Youtube channel, hardly any of it is conspiratorial. Most of it is main stream news clips, either politics or finance. After the Parkland shooting there was a young girl who went to the high school who claimed she definitely thought there was a second shooter. She even claimed to have talked to the killer on the morning of the killings, which I felt was both interesting and compelling.

It was uploaded to the channel and received a good amount of traffic, maybe 10-15k views. I don't remember the exact amount.

No big deal right?

Wrong, according to Youtube.

I just got an email from them this morning alerting me to the fact they removed the video from the platform and dinged my account with a "community strike", which isn't that big a deal -- as it only restricts my ability to live stream; but I think it's unfair and I am appealing their ruling because, as far as I can tell, she's a legit eyewitness of the events of the day and even if she was mistaken -- shouldn't her words be part of the public record?

If that is doable, we have a good resource here to plot this. It could be presented as a graph on a time line.

There are over 55,000 Youtube links on the forum.
My present tools require about 2.2 seconds/link to test a Youtube link.
This works out to over 33 hours of clock time to test all links.
I'd guess that it would take me several hours to process the resulting data.

A few days ago I put DAVID HOGG into Youtube Search and after x amount of vids loaded the bottom of the screen showed the usual list of page numbers. I clicked on the last page number and of course more loaded and at the bottom of each page more page numbers listed to select from. I kept selecting the last page number curious to see how many pages were up for this one individual. From memory I stopped around 65+ pages but this wasn’t the end of it.

I also scrolled through each page and apart from a couple of of vids loaded for a Professor Hogg all the vids were for DAVID HOGG on Florida School Shooting.

Today I went to look again. As I scrolled down to the list of page numbers there were none. I kept scrolling thinking Youtube had listed more vids per page, but no end in sight.

I then typed in another name search and there are no page numbers listed after x amount of listed vids either - so it appears the format has changed.

I’m wondering why as this is personally annoying for me as I use the page numbers as reference to go back to specific vids sometimes when researching.

I then scrolled down DAVID HOGG’s search page and there are now loads of David Hogg’s showing up after about 100+ Florida “David Hogg” vids – consultants, lecturers, naturopath, martial arts, preachers, individuals, etc. A big difference from the other day i.e. if if was 10 vids per page x 65 pages = 650.

I ‘m guessing that all the other David Hogg’s out there were more than annoyed and made complaints that they were not going to be found easily with the page number format.

So I get that this new format works better as it is visually easier to scroll for any vid that doesn’t have Florida David Hogg’s face on it as opposed to having to click multiple page numbers.

Just thought I would mention this as it could weigh in on why there is so much “censorship” on Hogg vids that are blocking the pipe, so to speak. Could it just be a temporary “scare tactic” to stop the Hogg tsunami from a technical position and things will return to “normal” at a later date? Or is there a greater conspiracy afoot and they are capitalizing on the Hogg tsunami to implement more censorship control?

Peter Thiel: Google is a great company. It has 30,000 people, 20,000, or whatever the number. They have pretty safe jobs.

On the other hand, Google has 30-40-50 billion in cash. It has no idea how to invest that money in technology effectively. And so, it prefers getting zero percent interest from Mr. Bernanke.

Effectively, the cash sort of gets burned away over time through inflation, because there are no ideas that Google has on how to spend their money.

Speaking from the White House Frontiers Conference in Pittsburg on Thursday, President Barack Obama told the crowd at Carnegie Melon University that the amount of false content on the internet is its ironic Achilles heel. While the internet has given us vast troves of knowledge, it's hard to tell when that information is false. What we need, he said, is a way to measure 'truthiness.'

(Yes, he used the word created by Stephen Colbert in 2010. "I wanted a silly word that would feel wrong in your mouth," Colbert said at the time.)

Obama, though, was using the word sincerely. He wants the Web to be truthier. "We're going to have to build within this Wild Wild West some kind of curating function that people can agree to," Obama said.

His particular concern was the vast web of misinformation on the web about climate change.

"Everything on the internet looks like it might be true," he said. "Everything suddenly becomes contested."

Obama didn't spell out how exactly he'd like to defeat the internet rumor mill. It would be easy for "fact-checking" the web to start looking an awful lot like government censorship. Take China, where authorities have taken to deleting speculation, unverified commentary and false information posted online, a practice that is widely viewed as just another method of the government's dictatorial censorship.

While light on details, Obama said that censorship was not what he had in mind.

"The answer is obviously not censorship, but in creating places where we can say that the information is reliable," he said. "There has to be some sort of way we can sort through information that passes some sort of truthiness test."

Others before Obama have, of course, taken a stance against misinformation, but the web of internet lies has proven hard to untangle. Last year, Facebook announced that it would label suspected fake news with a warning and reduce the appearance of posts with misinformation in the News Feed. But instead of stamping out all the misinformation circulating on Facebook, Facebook is now instead dealing with an uptick in its spread. As the Washington Post recently reported, "Facebook has repeatedly trended fake news since firing [the] human editors" who used to curate its Trending Topics.

So have I got this right? In 2016 the President of the United States (Obama) officially sanctioned the need to find a solution to curb “fake news”. And they want to create places where they can say this information is reliable. Which also means they may want to create places where they can say this information is not reliable.

If they are using the PROBLEM – REACTION – SOLUTION strategy are we seeing this in
effect now?

[PROBLEM] THEM: How do we shut down alternative sites that are getting too close to the truth? [PROBLEM]

[REACTION] Put bots in charge of curation. They knew that non-human editors would cause a surge in trending topics – i.e. truther sites as they have gained significant traction and threat. [REACTION]

[SOLUTION] Time to start banning their choice of fake news on youtube, fb, etc because an alternative has been provided to corral the offenders: Steemit – Launched March 2016 [SOLUTION]

As much as I like the idea of an alternative platform, it is potentially retrograde and needs vigilance imho. Once a herd is corralled it is very easy to kill it.

My concern is what strategies they may have up their sleeve for eventually “poisoning the trough” at Steemit in order to retain the consciousness and viewership of the “general population” whilst pointing the finger at, and falsely discrediting, thousands of genuine truth movement sites who have been “forced” into the corral.

Innovative alternative strategies need to also be considered for solving this dilemma me thinks.

But if not, I hope the people’s consciousness is strong enough to view both platforms instead of boycotting one for the other and in doing so create a non-integrated fringe; just when fringe was seriously being taken notice of.

YouTube has blamed "newer members" of it's 10,000 person fleet of content moderators for a virtual bloodbath of video takedowns, strikes, and account restrictions taking place across a large cross-section of conservative channels.

The Google division announced the new moderators in December, tasked with spotting said fake news, along with misleading or extreme content in the wake of a raging debate over the effect of propaganda and inaccurate reporting after Hillary Clinton's 2016 election loss.

Google essentially responded to the crackdown on conservatives with "our bad," after news of the mass censorship began to spread.
"As we work to hire rapidly and ramp up our policy enforcement teams throughout 2018, newer members may misapply some of our policies resulting in mistaken removals," wrote a YouTube spokesman in an email. "We’re continuing to enforce our existing policies regarding harmful and dangerous content, they have not changed. We’ll reinstate any videos that were removed in error."

Google (and therefore YouTube) is - let's be honest - an awful, hypocrisy-riddled load of old tosh. Whenever you try to use its searches for something, or ask it to translate something, or find an ISP it doesn't like very much, it becomes clear that its staff at a senior level are an unmitigated bunch of censorious liars.

The company badly needs regulating on the data sharing thing (reading the crap it gives out about this side of its operation is like listening to Tony Blair). Above all it needs a serious competitor to give a hefty boot up its jacksie. Kind of like the PC manufacturers and software providers did with IBM. YouTube and Google have become big fat complacent lumps just waiting to be taken apart by a hungry competitor with people having at least a semblance of ethics.

Do we need to be sitting at the edge of our seats waiting with bated breath to see who is banned next? I think we need to put more effort to strengthen the alternative channels. There's a need to make and distribute lists to the public of alternative sites, bitchute, vimeo, periscope, etc. (many of you know much more than I) and start sending them to everyone we know.

I don't like the interface of many of these other sites but then it's change - I don't always like change. Youtube was convenient and easy to see and navigate and some of the others aren't but I and others need to get over our resistance to changing habits and start frequenting the new and real alternatives. Leave YouTube to the Ellen's and jimmy kimmel's and cooking shows.

YouTube’s new moderators, brought in to spot fake, misleading and extreme videos, stumbled in one of their first major tests, mistakenly removing some clips and channels in the midst of a nationwide debate on gun control.

The Google division said in December it would assign more than 10,000 people to moderate content after a year of scandals over fake and inappropriate content on the world’s largest video site.

In the wake of the Feb. 14 school shooting in Parkland, Florida, some YouTube moderators mistakenly removed several videos and some channels from right-wing, pro-gun video producers and outlets.

Some YouTube channels recently complained about their accounts being pulled entirely. On Wednesday, the Outline highlighted (https://theoutline.com/post/3550/youtube-bans-conspiracy-theorist-channels-takes-down-popular-gun-videos?zd=2&zi=7ygjfrvs) accounts, including Titus Frost, that were banned from the video site. Frost tweeted (https://twitter.com/ImperatorTruth/status/968721283176427520) on Wednesday that a survivor of the shooting, David Hogg, is an actor. Jerome Corsi of right-wing conspiracy website Infowars said (https://twitter.com/jerome_corsi/status/968495007463243778) on Tuesday that YouTube had taken down one of his videos and disabled his live stream.

Shutting entire channels would have marked a sweeping policy change for YouTube, which typically only removes channels in extreme circumstances and focuses most disciplinary action on specific videos. But YouTube said some content was taken down by mistake. The site didn’t address specific cases and it’s unclear if it meant to take action on the accounts of Frost and Corsi.

"As we work to hire rapidly and ramp up our policy enforcement teams throughout 2018, newer members may misapply some of our policies resulting in mistaken removals," a YouTube spokeswoman wrote in an email. "We’re continuing to enforce our existing policies regarding harmful and dangerous content, they have not changed. We’ll reinstate any videos that were removed in error."

The misstep pulls YouTube, Google and parent Alphabet Inc. (https://www.bloomberg.com/quote/GOOGL:US) deeper into a toxic political fights over gun control, fake and extreme content, and whether internet companies should be responsible for what third parties post on their services. The episode also shows how the huge video site continues to struggle with policing the service and how difficult it is to spot troubling content and decide whether the material should be taken down.

Gun reform calls since the shooting have sparked a rash of conspiracy theories on the web about the student activists. YouTube was criticized last week after promoting a video with a title that suggested Hogg, the teen survivor of the Florida school shooting, was a paid actor. The clip contained footage from an authoritative news source, leading YouTube’s software-based screening system to misclassify it. After YouTube was alerted to the video, it was pulled.

In the wake of the Florida shooting, Google and other internet companies are facing external pressure (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-02-28/amazon-apple-struggle-to-sit-out-nra-gun-control-debate) to remove the National Rifle Association’s NRA TV channel from their video streaming services. To date, YouTube and other services haven’t pulled the NRA’s official channel.

YouTube’s official policy says that "harmful or dangerous" and "hateful" content can violate its guidelines. If video creators break the rules three times within three months, YouTube terminates the account.

Alex Jones, who runs Infowars and has pushed conspiracy theories about school shootings, is the most outspoken self-proclaimed victim of YouTube. He said this week that YouTube told him his account faces two strikes. On Tuesday, an Infowars article stated that Google was "purging conservative media," claiming that "CNN and other news outlets" were lobbying Google to terminate the Infowars channel.

The SPLC and other program members help police YouTube for extremist content, ranging from so-called hate speech to terrorist recruiting videos.

All of the groups in the program have confidentiality agreements, a spokesperson for Google, YouTube’s parent company, previously told TheDC (http://dailycaller.com/2018/01/19/google-youtube-censorship-demonetize-hate-speech/). A handful of YouTube’s “Trusted Flaggers,” including the Anti-Defamation League and No Hate Speech — a European organization focused on combatting intolerance — have gone public with their participation in the program. The vast majority of the groups in the program have remained hidden behind their confidentiality agreements.

The SPLC’s close involvement in policing content on YouTube is likely to cause consternation among conservatives who worry that they may not be treated fairly. The left-wing group has consistently labeled pedestrian conservative organizations as “hate groups” and has been directly tied to violence against conservatives in the past. Floyd Lee Corkins, who opened fire at the Family Research Center in 2012, said he chose the FRC for his act of violence because the SPLC listed them as a “hate group.” (http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/southern-poverty-law-center-website-triggered-frc-shooting/article/2520748)

It’s unclear when the SPLC joined YouTube’s “Trusted Flaggers” program. The program goes back to 2012 but exploded in size in recent years amid a Google push to increase regulation of the content on its platforms, which followed pressure from advertisers. Fifty of the 113 program members joined in 2017 as YouTube stepped up its content policing, YouTube public policy director Juniper Downs told a Senate committee (https://www.commerce.senate.gov/public/_cache/files/620b4168-3db3-4108-a2d7-334881bca32a/CE50E8316CB3FDFE481B13D2429063D3.downs-testimony.pdf) in January.

Downs said the third-party groups work closely with YouTube’s employees to crack down on extremist content in two ways, both of which a Google spokesperson previously confirmed to TheDC.

First, the flaggers are equipped with digital tools allowing them to mass flag content for review by YouTube personnel. Second, the partner groups act as guides to YouTube’s content monitors and engineers designing the algorithms policing the video platform but may lack the expertise needed to tackle a given subject.

“We work with over 100 organizations as part of our Trusted Flagger program and we value the expertise these organizations bring to flagging content for review. All trusted flaggers attend a YouTube training to learn about our policies and enforcement processes. Videos flagged by trusted flaggers are reviewed by YouTube content moderators according to YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Content flagged by trusted flaggers is not automatically removed or subject to any differential policies than content flagged from other users,” said a YouTube spokesperson, who would not specifically comment on the SPLC’s participation in the program.

The SPLC did not return multiple voicemails and emails seeking comment.

The overwhelming majority of the content policing on Google and YouTube is carried out by algorithms. The algorithms make for an easy rebuttal against charges of political bias: it’s not us, it’s the algorithm. But actual people with actual biases write, test and monitor the algorithms.

As noted above, Google’s anonymous outside partners (such as the SPLC) work closely with the internal experts designing the algorithms. This close collaboration has upsides, Google’s representatives have said, such as in combatting terrorist propaganda on the platform.

But it also provides little transparency, forcing users to take Google’s word that they’re being treated fairly.

The SPLC has faced criticism for its cavalier definitions of “hate group” and “extremist.” The organization stoked controversy in 2015 by labeling Dr. Ben Carson, now the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), an anti-gay “extremist.” After a backlash, the SPLC reversed its ruling and apologized to Carson (http://dailycaller.com/2015/02/11/southern-poverty-law-center-apologizes-to-ben-carson-for-putting-him-on-its-extremist-list/).

The Washington Examiner’s Emily Jashinsky noted (http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/reminder-the-southern-poverty-law-center-is-a-fraud-and-nobody-should-treat-them-as-responsible-actors/article/2631852) last year that “the SPLC’s claim to objectivity is nothing less than fraudulent, a reality that informed observers of its practices from both the Left and Right accept.”

“The routine of debunking their supposedly objective classifications occurs like clockwork each time a major outlet makes the mistake of turning to them when reporting on the many conservative thinkers and nonprofits the group absurdly designates as hateful.”

The SPLC has faced tough criticisms not just from conservatives but from the mainstream press as well.

“At a time when the line between ‘hate group’ and mainstream politics is getting thinner and the need for productive civil discourse is growing more serious, fanning liberal fears, while a great opportunity for the SPLC, might be a problem for the nation,” Politico Magazine’s Ben Schreckinger wrote last year (https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/06/28/morris-dees-splc-trump-southern-poverty-law-center-215312).

Bloomberg columnist Megan McArdle similarly noted last year that the SPLC commonly lumps in principled conservatives (https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2017-09-07/southern-poverty-law-center-gets-creative-to-label-hate-groups) alongside actual racists and extremists and warned of the possibility that tech companies could rely on the SPLC’s misleading definitions.

“Given the increasing tendency of powerful tech companies to flex their muscle against hate groups,” she wrote, “we may see more and more institutions unwittingly turned into critics or censors, not just of Nazi propaganda, but also of fairly mainstream ideas.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a liberal, Alabama-based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization that has gained prominence on the left for its "hate group" designations, pushes millions of dollars to offshore entities as part of its business dealings, records show.

Additionally, the nonprofit pays lucrative six-figure salaries to its top directors and key employees while spending little on legal services despite its stated intent of "fighting hate and bigotry" using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is perhaps best known for its "hate map," (https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map) a collection of organizations the nonprofit deems "domestic hate groups" that lists mainstream conservative organizations alongside racist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and is often referenced in the media. A gunman opened fire at the Washington, D.C., offices of the conservative Family Research Council in 2012 after seeing it listed (http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/06/justice/dc-family-research-council-shooting/index.html) as an "anti-gay" group on SPLC's website.

The SPLC has turned into a fundraising powerhouse, recording more than $50 million in contributions and $328 million in net assets on its 2015 Form 990 (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/990_103116.pdf), the most recently available tax form from the nonprofit. SPLC's Form 990-T (https://www.scribd.com/document/357565292/SPLC2015Form990T), its business income tax return, from the same year shows that they have "financial interests" in the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, and Bermuda. No information is available beyond the acknowledgment of the interests at the bottom of the form.

However, the Washington Free Beacon discovered forms (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/990-10-31-15.pdf) from 2014 that shed light on some of the Southern Poverty Law Center's transfers to foreign entities.

The SPLC's Form 8865 (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/990-10-31-15.pdf), a Return of U.S. Persons With Respect to Certain Foreign Partnerships, from 2014 shows that the nonprofit transferred hundreds of thousands to an account located in the Cayman Islands.

SPLC lists Tiger Global Management LLC, a New York-based private equity financial firm, as an agent on its form. The form shows (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/990-10-31-15.pdf) a foreign partnership between the SPLC and Tiger Global Private Investment Partners IX, L.P., a pooled investment (https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1621547/000162154714000001/xslFormDX01/primary_doc.xml) fund in the Cayman Islands. SPLC transferred $960,000 in cash on Nov. 24, 2014 to Tiger Global Private Investment Partners IX, L.P, its records show.

The SPLC's Form 926 (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/990-10-31-15.pdf), a Return by a U.S. Transferor of Property to a Foreign Corporation, from 2014 shows additional cash transactions that the nonprofit had sent to offshore funds.

The SPLC reported (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/990-10-31-15.pdf) a $102,007 cash transfer on Dec. 24, 2014 to BPV-III Cayman X Limited, a foreign entity located in the Cayman Islands. The group then sent $157,574 in cash to BPV-III Cayman XI Limited on Dec. 31, 2014, an entity that lists the same PO Box address in Grand Cayman as the previous transfer.

The nonprofit pushed millions more into offshore funds at the beginning of 2015.
On March 1, 2015, SPLC sent (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/990-10-31-15.pdf) $2,200,000 to an entity incorporated in Canana Bay, Cayman Islands, according to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) records (https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1537171/000153717116000002/xslFormDX01/primary_doc.xml) and run by a firm firm based in Greenwich, Ct. Another $2,200,000 cash transfer was made (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/990-10-31-15.pdf) on the same day to another fund whose business is located at the same address as the previous fund in the Cayman Islands, according to SEC records (https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1595467/000166075216000002/xslFormDX01/primary_doc.xml).

No information is contained on its interests in Bermuda on the 2014 forms. SPLC's financial stakes in the British Virgin Islands were not acknowledged until its 2015 tax form.

Lucinda Chappelle, a principal at Jackson Thornton, the public accounting firm in Montgomery, Ala., that prepared the SPLC's tax forms, said she does not discuss client matters and hung up the phone when the Free Beacon contacted her in an attempt to get the most updated forms from the group in relation to its foreign business dealings.

Tax experts expressed confusion when being told of the transfer.

"I've never known a US-based nonprofit dealing in human rights or social services to have any foreign bank accounts," said Amy Sterling Casil, CEO of Pacific Human Capital, a California-based nonprofit consulting firm. "My impression based on prior interactions is that they have a small, modestly paid staff, and were regarded by most in the industry as frugal and reliable. I am stunned to learn of transfers of millions to offshore bank accounts. It is a huge red flag and would have been completely unacceptable to any wealthy, responsible, experienced board member who was committed to a charitable mission who I ever worked with."

"It is unethical for any US-based charity to invest large sums of money overseas," said Casil. "I know of no legitimate reason for any US-based nonprofit to put money in overseas, unregulated bank accounts."

"It seems extremely unusual for a ‘501(c)(3)' concentrating upon reducing poverty in the American South to have multiple bank accounts in tax haven nations," Charles Ortel, a former Wall Street analyst and financial advisor who helped (http://freebeacon.com/issues/wall-street-analyst-clinton-foundation-failed-to-file-legally-required-audits/) uncover a 2009 financial scandal at General Electric, told the Free Beacon.

The nonprofit also pays lucrative salaries to its top leadership.

Richard Cohen, president and chief executive officer of the SPLC, was given $346,218 in base compensation in 2015, its tax forms (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/990_103116.pdf) show. Cohen received $20,000 more in other reportable compensation and non-taxable benefits. Morris Dees, SPLC's chief trial counsel, received a salary of $329,560 with $42,000 in additional reportable compensation and non-taxable benefits.

The minimum amount paid to an officer, director, trustee, or key employee in 2015 was $140,000 in base salary, not including other compensation. The group spent $20 million on salaries throughout the year.

The SPLC, which claims (https://www.splcenter.org/seeking-justice) to boast a staff of 75 lawyers who practice in the area of children's rights, economic justice, immigrant justice, LGBT rights, and criminal justice reform, reported (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/990_103116.pdf) spending only $61,000 on legal services in 2015.

Following recent violence in Charlottesville, Va., the group raised a great deal of money.

Apple CEO Tim Cook told (http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/08/27/apple-j-p-morgan-and-southern-poverty-law-centers-hate-list-what-are-gifts-to-splc-really-telling-customers.html) his employees that the company is donating $1 million to the SPLC and would match employee contributions two to one. Cook also placed (http://fortune.com/2017/08/21/apple-donations-southern-poverty-law-center/) an SPLC donation button in its iTunes store. The company is additionally providing a $1 million donation to the Anti-Defamation League.

J.P Morgan Chase vowed (http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/08/27/apple-j-p-morgan-and-southern-poverty-law-centers-hate-list-what-are-gifts-to-splc-really-telling-customers.html) to add a $500,000 donation for the group's "work in tracking, exposing, and fighting hate groups and other extremist organizations."

The Washington Times reported (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/aug/17/hate-group-map-lists-mainstream-conservative-organ/) that CNN ran a wire story following the Charlottesville events originally titled, "Here are all the active hate groups where you live" using SPLC's list of 917 groups.

Brad Dacus, the president of the Pacific Justice Institute, a Sacramento-based group that defends "religious freedom, parental rights, and other civil liberties without charge," was listed on the "hate groups" list.

"Why is the Southern Poverty Law Center doing this? It's simple. They want to vilify and isolate anyone that doesn't agree with their very extremist leftist policy and ideology," Dacus told (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/aug/17/hate-group-map-lists-mainstream-conservative-organ/) the Times. "This isn't about defending civil rights; this is about attacking civil rights."

"I am shocked that CNN would publish such a false report on the heels of the Charlottesville tragedy," added (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/aug/17/hate-group-map-lists-mainstream-conservative-organ/) Mat Staver, the founder of Liberty Counsel, a Christian nonprofit that provides pro bono assistance and representation, which is also featured on SPLC's list. "To lump peaceful Christian organizations, which condemn violence and racism, in with the KKK, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists is offensive. This is the epitome of fake news and is why people no longer trust the media."

CNN later changed its headline to, "The Southern Poverty Law Center's list of hate groups."

"The SPLC is an anti-conservative, anti-Christian hate group that the media have given pretend legitimacy to. One glance at their 990 tax forms is a reminder just what a fund-raising super-power it is," Dan Gainor, vice president of Business and Culture at the Media Research Center, told the Free Beacon. "Its assets are over $328 million in 2015 and went up $13 million in just one year. It doesn't need new liberal money. It could operate for at least six years and never raise a penny. It's like a perpetual motion machine for fundraisers."

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting on 4chan, but I need to get this out. And I need to stay anonymous.

I work for Google, I'm not going to name the internal tech department for obvious reasons, I don't want anyone to pinpoint who I am. But I'm in tech, and work with AI. I'll explain.

My team and I created AI bots for twitter. These bots are slightly different than regular AI bots, these are remote signal bots, but I'll explain what they do.

My team, and a "human intelligence" team, which is really just a propaganda team, work together to make certain topics trend, and persuade public opinion, which persuades political pressure. We do this by a groupthink method, we have a name for it internally, but "consensus cracking" is a more used name externally. But the bots we created, go into twitter conversations and push a narrative. Some of the bots are verified accounts. And they start by arguing a point of view against someone, and then more bots join in and thumbs up the comment. We are doing it with gun control now. More people see a "consensus" of gun control and people on the fence get persuaded to our narrative, and politicians get pressured by thinking it's actual people. We had whole meetings about 4chan, because you guys, specifically this board, are disrupting the bots. You are basically doing what we are doing, but you are real people. We (not necessarily me) devised a plan to knock you guys from twitter. We accused Russia of doing what WE are doing, and used the narrative to wipe out "suspected bots", which we knew weren't bots at all.

I feel like sh*t about this. Here's the thing, I'm actually a democrat, and I HATE guns, but i believe in balance of the people more than anything. We are using software as a political tool instead of the will of the people.

This is also a violation of the SEC, we are fabricating twitter users and using them for stocks & advertisers. I signed that I wouldn't discuss this, so I need to stay anonymous.

Thanks, Bill. Makes sense to me. I was just on twitter a little while ago for a few minutes. Besides this outrageous creation of fake consensus on issues I see that people are now calling eachother bots!! I guess that would mean that there is some growing awareness that this is happening but not to the depth and intent for which it is happening.

About 10 hours ago now, the SGTReport Youtube Channel was taken down, with all videos removed.

So far, there are only a few videos on this SGTreport2 backup channel, the most recent of which is FIGHTING Child Sex Trafficking in Tucson & Beyond -- Craig Sawyer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXajHIfDTsQ). Some speculate that the title of this video suggests why the main SGTReport channel was taken down. As usual, Youtube says only that the account "violated Youtube's community guidelines."

It may have been banned after a video titled, "The Common Enemy of Russia & the U.S. is the Deep State Shadow Government" by Robert Steel was posted. I was reading a long but interesting article on NeonRevolt.com last night which I finished this morning. The video had only been posted about 2-3 hours before it was removed as far as I can tell tho' it could have been more.

The article is the latest one, "#HollywoodRenegades – How Hollywood Insiders Are Taking Down #TheCabal from the Inside-Out. #Hollyweird #GreatAwakening". Fascinating stuff. 4chan took exception to a threat by Sarah Silverman to stand down in regards to the anons reaction to James Gunn and others. Eventually a retired black male actor anon steps in and the fun begins.

The video seemed to have been posted as an after-thought. I'll post this in the Qanon thread for discussion in case anyone is interested.
