if my read sources are correct even back in the 18th century with their "primitive" telescopes back then (compared to ours now) they were witnessing flashing lights on the moon-

The first video - this is clearly an earth based, reasonably powerful amateur telescope. It looks to me like the "flybys" are particles on the the eyepiece. As the eyepiece is focused or adjusted in tiny increments it makes them appear slowly moving in the view. on the video, you can see that these particles move mostly with the movement of the telescope - not entirely independent of it - this is indicative that the spots seen are particles inside the telescope (probably inside the eyepiece itself - not at the surface of the moon. I have an old telescope and recall seeing these artifacts in/on the eyepiece quite a lot.
As far as the flashes of light go, Larry is correct, these have been seen for centuries, and I don't know of any good rationale for explaining these.

My Daughter and I seen a green light flashing in a crater threw my telescope. I thought maybe it was me so I had her look I didn't tell her what I had seen. I asked her what do you see. A green flashing light she said. Theirs something up there I seen it.

Yes when I was younger I had a telescope and saw a red light on the moon at lest twice, think I saw one with unaided eyes as well, if I did it would have been big.

I'm still hopeful that one day soon we'll have the ability to have a citizim's satellite orbiting the moon.
