The answer is likely interesting to many people. Does history provide any clues as to why? Did our ancestors even question why they were here? And lastly, does it matter if we know why? In a personal case providing interaction and yet not knowing why and being open didnt provide the answer.

Just out of curiosity? The same reason we study flora and fauna?

Collecting flowers and specimen of various of the myriads life forms available here. Developing new medicines and bio technologies .. Researching their own prehistory in Space..
Occasionally, listening to rock-n-roll while trying to understand humans. But if they don’t spend much time on the last I feel it’s because they consider it beyond their abilities, too hard to decipher: human mind and rock-n-roll :)

Why have Europeans visited Africa, India, or the Americas in the last half-dozen centuries?
Any or all of these answers may apply, to different groups at different times.
To colonize and/or conquer.
To find natural resources.
To explore.
To do anthropological research.
To find slaves.
To help.

Bill, I think I will call you Sensei from now on.
You’ve always been astute; but, it sure seems like you’ve reached another level of insight.... or maybe you’re just sharing more.
I really find balance and wisdom in what you share. Thank you.

Well, Mike built an altar to Saturn (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?104868-PURSUING-X-Marketing-money-and-manipulation-in-the-Alternative-Media&p=1261268&viewfull=1#post1261268). It would have been rude of the Saturnians not to come and visit.

I like Douglas Adams fun idea on this:
They are the rich kid aliens who like to dress up and buzz us for kicks, it's their number one party gag o.0

What if they're not ET?
(Which is not to suggest I'm ruling out the idea that other life exists in the universe. Chances are it does. What I am suggesting is the idea that other hypotheses should be considered, and considered seriously.)

If this is a hologramatic universe then we are merely figments of someone else's imagination. So are the so called aliens.
Much like a mindscape, this universe may not in fact be anything but a wish or a mad scenario made to seem real.
Who are these aliens, why are they coming here? Because they are aspects of our own minds, that we have reached out to, and they have responded.
Everything in this universe is but discarded pieces of our own psyches.
Maybe...

The problem is: how do you prove that it's a holographic universe? It's an interesting premise...but I'm not sure I'd run with it.
I'm beginning to lean more on the co-creation theory based on my own personal experience.

There is the fascinating contact-case of Leo and Mike Dworshak from North Dakota, who were 12 and 10 years old, respectively, with contact starting in 1932 and running all the way to the late 1960's. It is one of the most fascinating contact cases I've ever heard of.
Leo's book: UFO's Are With Us - Take My Word (available @ Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ufos-Are-Us-Take-Word/dp/0805958681/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1543506614&sr=8-1&keywords=ufo%27s+are+with+us+-+take+my+word ) For anyone that wants to read an amazing case, and not widely known, I can't recommend this book enough.
I'll copy a paragraph from the book here, as it relates to the premise of the thread.
" These people who we met and talked to in the year 1932 came right out and told us they had travelled to this planet for over five thousand years. They will continue coming to this planet because it is their responsibility. It is important for us to understand that they said the Earth is their responsibility, rather than mankind's. We were told that they will continue travelling to our planet, to this very spot, and so many other places as our world gets deeper into trouble......."
There are some amazing details in this book, and some of the info that was relayed to them is mind-blowing, especially when you consider the time-frame that the info was given to the boys, and look at today's world. The ship that they travelled in, once the boys were allowed inside, the process of actually getting inside, the tech and materials......... Info about us, our bodies and our senses, is all jaw-dropping. I won't mention much more so as not to give-away too many details for those that may buy this book.
Anybody you know with an interest in UFO's, or, with Christmas just around the corner, maybe a little present for yourself, this book is ideal.

Thank you for the responses.
We could add a few more things to the list.
They have been to earth longer than humans and the so called Goldilocks zone in space offering a unique location.
This was a good livestream and offers a few other ideas.

Interesting factoid heard on tv tonight. A recent survey (in UK) revealed that 64% of the public believe aliens exist. Hmmm.
I think all of the responses so far could apply! Personally, I find the Sitchin story very plausible, but it only discusses one race and I assume, in the teeming Universe there are far more than one species interested in this prime piece of planetary real estate.
I have no doubt we are a genetically engineered species, natural selection simply does not explain the four distinct races of human on the planet and their unique characteristics. Funny how the almond shaped eyes of a large part of the population are similar to greys...can someone can explain why that would be a natural adaptation...? There’s an awful lot Darwin didn’t cover if you think about it. So I’d go along with ‘their’ involvement with the planet and human evolution for millennia. We are all hybrids of one kind or another.
I also think about the holographic universe model a lot, it rather fits with a recurring idle notion I’ve had over the years that we are just ‘sims’ in someone else’s game, spontaneous combustion, just some bored player zapping a sim for amusement as we might have zapped an ant with a magnifying glass as children. Well, the worst I ever did was put fairy liquid on their trail and watch them squirm.
I suspect we have as much idea about the true reality as those ants do about the mighty hand that hovers with the washing up liquid or the magnifier.
Lab rats might be a fitting description for us, though it’s nice to believe there are those that do care about us and our evolution. I fancy myself as a Pleiadean come to help and heal, because I certainly feel ‘alien’ated by the actions of so many humans (or beastly mix) that do things that I could never, ever, be coerced to do or be associated with. I feel quite alien all too often and I know others here will know what I mean.
It sure is a juicy subject to contemplate.

There are many reasons to consider, and probably many more we can't even begin to consider.
But... if we at least start with the baseline that we are crossing niches with one (at minimum) group of extraterrestrial organisms, we can look to the natural world around us to hypothesize what relationships could form.
From an earlier post (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?105026-Have-the-Greys-invaded-Earth&p=1259279&viewfull=1#post1259279) of mine, here are the five relationships that occur when two niches overlap:
Mutualism:
Both the invader and the invaded form a mutually beneficial bond (think hummingbirds and trumpet flowers.)
Commensalism:
One species is helped, and the other is neither helped nor hindered (orchids growing on a tree branch.)
Parasitism:
One species benefits, and the other becomes harmed by the relationship (pinworms in a dog.)
Predation:
One species consumes the other species for nutrients (hawks and mice.)
Competition:
Both species compete for the exact same resources (foxes and coyotes hunting the same rodents.)
Assuming the extraterrestrial civilization has a bit of a jump on us since they're the ones traversing space, only one of these relationship types rules in our favor, with another of the types landing at an even split.
There's just such limited data, and no sample statistic to study, so, we are left to make assumptions based off of what we know from nature, potentially anthropomorphizing the extraterrestrials. Lots of assuming and speculation, but isn't that the fun of it!?
Or maybe it's something we just can't consider in our little, disconnected brains - a total unknown unknown!

Recording dreams and memories ..let’s say that for very advanced civilisation, technologically at least remains nothing to conquer and no one to subdue or enslave.
The most abundant phenomenon on this evolving globe other than biodiversity ( and remember collecting and carrying living samples can pose contamination risks after all) is our ideas, dreams and imaginations.
Fleeting as they seem can they be of interest to someone out there who forgot of wilderness , especially the wilderness of Dreams?
Can it all be about just sharing Dreams and Memories between us and thus fostering new ways of understanding ?
And while we cast most of our live experiences to the “just a dream” category asking for material proof , may what seems to be so important to some of us ( piece of stone, something fancy to measure ) be a trash to them and vice versa.
After all, do we have to cast most of our human experience away one day and declare it a dream ..
