"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."
I don't know if there are other members on this forum that enjoy dancing as much as I do, so I thought I'd start this thread.

I think very highly of dance and the form of enhanced meditation one can achieve while activated during dance.
I used to look at dance as a supplemental form of meditation to include with other meditations.
This was all through the nineties, mostly electronica but hip hop as well.
I remember how some nights I had difficulty entering a proper brain wave state while attempting to dance, I would use a form of Tai chi push hands moving through my aura until I found the blockage, then I would use wing Chun hand motions over the energy blockage until it was cleared.
The funny thing was I would so often start my night looking for that hook up. The phone number or the one night stand, but after hitting a certain brain wave while dancing and entering into a powerful full body meditation all I wanted to do was dance to Dawn. :)

Yes !! Great movie, “Bande á Part” with Anna Karina dancing the “Madison”.
A sort of European “Line Dancing”, LOL
It was in the 60s and I loved it.

What a difference it makes when the dancers are smiling!
My younger daughter was a dancer. She walked at 8 months and danced at one year but didn't talk until she was two. At 14 years of age she took herself off to the Brit School of Performing Arts full time and danced four hours a day until she was 21.
Then, she got a summer job in a cafe and said, 'for the first time in my life I felt appreciated and as if I was doing something right'. As a dancer it's incredibly competitive and you are never good enough...
A few months later she quit Paul McCartney's dance school in Liverpool (Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts) and started doing Social Studies instead. After a trip round the world she became a yoga teacher and now has her own successful yoga business - she never danced again.
Dancing is for fun, as a career it's a cruel world.

Being a proffesional dancer is a life of training and dieting.
It’s the most stringent form of top sport. A chastise of the body.
Yoga means union, between body mind and soul, like dancing for pleasure.

I enjoy dancing immensely!!!!!!!!
No real formal training just watching others and practicing. I come from the time when aerobics started, "modern dance", then disco and eventually I earned a spot as a semi-pro cheerleader. Every bit of it was so enjoyable even when it was a challenge. I encourage movement to your favorite music at any age within your safe abilities. No need to injure the self just enjoy!.

We all pray that our children dance, especially as they become adults. Living without dancing is a sad state of existence. So incomplete. So disconnected. Inhumane.
Feel the beat. Get the cue to move in sync with the bass beat, the background that gives us the rhythm of a song. If you're not feeling it... connect the movement with your breath. Isolate a body part on both sides of the body. Move them at the same time but in opposite directions. Walk it out and your spirit will insist You join in.
The dancing will find you.
There are so many ways to move and in so doing ground yourself, lift your spirits, change a mood, clear out excess thinking. Sometimes I feel the vast differences between me and my son can only be bridged by humor and dance. In fact, if you too have a dyslexic son or daughter I'd encourage dancing in their presence, even if they do not join in at the time. The body-brain connection finds most of it's healing when the spirit just steps in and insists on enjoying movement, without thinking too much about it.
My prayer is that in his travels he joins in the dance wherever he goes.....bringing those gifts of the heart back with him.
May he have friends who insist that their friends all dance.

String theory has the potential to show that all of the wondrous happenings in the universe - from the frantic dance of subatomic quarks to the stately waltz of orbiting binary stars; from the primordial fireball of the big bang to the majestic swirl of heavenly galaxies - are reflections of one, grand physical principle, one master equation.

I used to rave a bit back in the day -- original underground style in a seedy old warehouse or rented hall. If there's one thing I miss ... its the dancers .. and the dancing, but I was never very good ... lol. I lived vicariously through the great performers around me. :)
