Is it possible to experience an orgasmic pain free birth? According to Christine Northrup (https://www.drnorthrup.com/orgasmic-birth/), Author of Womens bodies, Womens wisdom it is.
Everyone knows that milk and cookies go together, but what about childbirth and orgasms? On January 2, 2009 viewers of ABC’s news magazine show 20/20 learned that not only can you pair these two seemingly disparate things, a woman can plan for and experience ecstasy during labor. Dr. Northrup was on hand to explain why this is possible.
“A woman’s ability to orgasm during childbirth is basic science,” Dr. Northrup said. Anatomically speaking, on its journey through the birth canal the baby passes through and can stimulate the same areas that cause a woman to climax during intercourse. Physiologically speaking, during labor a woman’s body is flooded with the same feel good hormones, like prolactin, oxytocin, and other beta-endorphins, that are released during pleasurable sexual experiences.
The stage is set for all women to have an ecstatic birth! So why don’t more women orgasm during childbirth? Dr. Northrup believes that our culture is ingrained with the misbelief that birth is a dangerous, painful situation that’s likely to require emergency medical intervention. She says, “If you approach something as beautiful and natural as birth from this perspective, you’ll be fearful and expect pain. This results in tenser muscles, a slow-down in the birth process, and fewer feel good hormones to act as ‘Mother Nature’s anesthetizers’.”
In the exposé on 20/20 Juju Chang and Gail Deutsch also talked to filmmaker Debra Pascali-Bonaro, whose documentary Orgasmic Birth chronicles the experiences of eleven couples. The film has been shown in 28 countries and met with enthusiasm. Pascali-Bonaro has been pleasantly surprised by the number of women she’s met who have had orgasmic births.
Pascali-Bonaro wants women to know that the more they participate in planning their childbirth, the more likely their experience will be enjoyable, transformational, blissful, and ecstatic. There’s no need to be drugged or confined to a bed-these practices create stress and there are so many better choices for mother and baby. She told Juju Chang, “If we look at most other countries in the world, women have a lot of options. They’re allowed to be upright; they can move in labor. They can use warm water. They can use yoga balls. There’s so much that they can do that makes the experience easier.”
Dr. Northrup, who helps narrate Orgasmic Birth, couldn’t agree more. For years she’s been a champion of births that are safer and more enjoyable for mother and child. Yes, there will still be some pain. But both Dr. Northrup and Debra Pascali-Bonaro want women to know that it’s possible to transform the pain and also experience pleasure, joy-and even an orgasm.
In this interview with Nassim Harremein and his wife, Amber, they discuss Ambers experiences whilst giving birth.

Christine Northrup, in this interview says,
"When the babies coming down the birth canal, remember it is going through the exact same positions as something going in, the penis going into the vagina to cause an orgasm. And labour itself is dissociated with a huge hormonal change in the body. Way more prolactin, way more oxytocin, way more beta endorphin, these are the molecules of ecstasy."
"...One's expectations, change the way pain is perceived. Whenever you expect pain, you tense up, your stress level hormones go up and that increases pain."

Thanks Constance, You bring quality threads to this forum. Glad that you are here.
5 months ago my first grand son was born As my son his father was working on a merchant vessel I traveled 1000 km and 24 hrs approx. to take care of mother and child. We planned for a water birth unfortunately the mothers body did not cooperate no contractions at all so we were force to find something that is more natural than hospital birth. That's when I found out that our government prohibits shamans and naturally gifted people from assisting on birth unless they first get a license from the government. It is here where the voodoo happens. All birthing centers are required to give the new born, vaccines and new born screening. Lest they loose their license. To cut short, my grandson was born C section and I have to argue with hospital staff and spirited my grandson out of the hospital just to prevent this hapless human from getting all those craps. Now that I have this undamaged child with me I can say that almost all children are damage. If you put any child side by side with him and compare my grandson can be considered as a star child indigo or whatever. One doctor on one gathering even commented that he is very smart and advance in development. If I was there I would have told him "no doctor this is normal this should be the ideal development, you just got use to seeing damage and retarded children. My heart goose for these children the damage becomes so obvious when put side by side with an undamaged one.

Giving birth to a child can seem overwhelming, scary, and painful to many women. Bearing a child is still one of the most dangerous things a woman can do: It's the sixth most common cause of death among women aged 20 to 34 in the United States. So, it's natural to be nervous and seek out ways to make labor and delivery as comfortable and safe as possible.
When she was pregnant with her third child, Australian mother Avalon Darnesh decided to research the orgasmic way to bring a child into the world, which is something that happens naturally in less than 1% of births.

Aww shucks Bubu :blushing: I'm happy to be here too! :happy dog:
It is so important whenever you get into these kinds of situations that you have someone who can stand up for the birthing mother and make sure that nursing staff stick to the mamas birthing list (if she has one) so I'm really glad to hear that you could be there for your grandson Bubu, and that he is so healthy and in such good shape!
Much kudos to you.:flower::muscle:

When I see ‘fashion’ like this, even if there may be truth to it for few women, I am always worried.
Because what I have seen up to now in other similar stuff could be compared to the following: having women who have pain while giving birth made feel like incompetent birthers or worst, feeling guilty for having pain
Like I was made feel guilty for dying from amoebic dysenteria when the fashion was that we create our sicknesses. The fact that the whole city in a third world country where I was living had its whole sewage system in the open for repairs did not count for spraying intestinal diseases.
If it is shown as a possibility fine. Hopefully, it won’t fall into fanatism, like it often happens.

I totally get your concern Flash...because this certainly can happen when things get picked up by the mainstream. But this hit the mainstream here in Australia about six years ago. The mainstream...like the shock value and were sharing for this reason... not because they want to promote this idea. In fact they often portrayed people who chose to explore this type of birth as ..weird...and maybe even a bit perverted. I would say the popularity of these types of births, as well as the desire to have one has not changed since.
From what I have seen...I think the 'real people' who are exploring this concept --that birth doesn't have to be frightening and painful-- are some very aware people. Everything I read comes from a place of there is no right way or wrong way to birth..and that shaming anyone for the way their birth unfolds is absolutely something to be avoided.
I certainly didn't have this type of birth with my son, but I am happy for everyone who does :)

now if we could only invent the orgasmic kidney stone experience:wink: (I've had 2)
as a man i've hesitated to comment on this thread, because no matter what i say it's bound to sound all pervy and creepy. but i'll take the risk.
firstly, i'm a little skeptical of her 'baby out'/'penis in' comparison, regardless of what it's stimulating. there's a big difference between something going in, and something going out. my prostate exam didn't feel anything like a bowel movement. maybe that's a bad analogy. moving on...
i think this is fantastic. i think we all totally underestimate the importance of the birth process' effect on the child. currently it's largely traumatic - we don't have any memory of it now, but i have no doubt it's left some sort of psychic imprint..and a mostly negative one at that. ugh, all those blaring lights and sterilized instruments and beeping machines and people with face masks etc etc etc. it sucks the sanctity and spirit out of the whole process. doesn't it? i think it digs a psychic hole that a child has to expend quite a bit of energy climbing itself out of over the next few years (or much longer maybe). i dunno, i'm just speculating here..
if i were a woman, i imagine i'd likely want some pain killing or numbing agent at the ready just in case things go off the rails a little. that might be my only caveat

Thanks for your comments there Flash :dog:
I do follow what you are saying. I personally wouldn't want women who have suffered enormously during labour to have any feelings of guilt or incompetency. Mothers have enough to deal with without adding that to the list.
That is a very good point you make about orgasmic birthing being defined as a 'possibility'.
I used to work as a hypnobirther (many years ago now) and my job was to ensure that the mother had a very comfortable and wonderful experience during labour. And many of the mothers did have a wonderful and comfortable experience with giving birth.
What inspired me to become a hypnobirther was after having a conversation with my own mother about her birthing experiences with her four children. We were all born in the 1960's. I was really curious about whether she had suffered any pain during or after labour (with the afterbirth).
According to my mother, all four of us were born without any pain. She hardly knew that she was in labour and when I was born, I slipped into the world unannounced; mum had given birth to me without any assistance. My mother had to call out to the nurses, "She's here!"
I often swap stories with my asian friends and family (I'm Eurasian) and what surprises me over and over again is that many of those relatives and friends experienced happy, painless births. My aged aunties, were quite surprised to even hear that women actually experienced pain whilst giving birth.
