View Full Version : We are all living in two worlds at the same time

Dear friends,

We all, figuratively, live in two different worlds at the same time. This thought occurred to me after contemplating things that people say like: you create your own reality, change yourself to change the world, your perceptions shape your world, what you believe you see, etc.

While those statements are in a way completely true, they are at the same time completely false, as they only affect one of those two worlds.

Those two worlds we live in are: objective world and subjective world.

These two worlds are completely the same, yet completely different.

Yes, you can change your perception or your beliefs or your mindset and you will immediately find yourself in a different world than you were before. Or will you?

By changing these things, your subjective world will change dramatically, but the objective one will remain completely the same. You will become happier, healthier, more positive, more able to deal with everyday challenges and catalysts, and suddenly you will see this world as a great place to be in that needs no fixing at all.

But, this will not change the fact that, for example, we are being chemtrailed, it won't stop wars across the globe, it won't feed children in Africa, it won't stop the system from stealing from us and "torturing" us, taking away our privacy, it won't stop big companies from poisoning and destroying our mother Earth, etc.

I guess if someone lives his life completely devoted to self, than those teachings are extremely beneficial. You will make your subjective world perfect and enjoy it.
Yet, if you concern yourself with others, those teachings aren't effective at all, as they won't change anything about this objective world we all share.

I would like to hear some wise comments to my rant here, please :blushing:

Yes, excellent. I see this as really about detachment vs. attachment.

We can have 'bad' things happen to us (or to our environment, or people we know), but we don't have to become victims. We always still have personal choice about how to take full responsibility for our subjective universe. Any good Buddhist would understand.

One remarkable true story was told quite some time back by a Tibetan monk who was imprisoned by the Chinese for many years, suffering extreme hardship and worse.

When he was eventually released, he thanked his captors and jailers. He explained that through his terrible experience, his genuine forgiveness of them had taught him true compassion.

I was going to start a thread, but perhaps my comment/question will be fine here.

Do physical things change? My spouse and I went to bed last night and there were 2 different bottles of over-the-counter polls on the night table. When we woke up, the 2 bottles were exactly the same. What the heck?

This type of thing occurs frequently, where things will dissappear and reappear later. Makes me think we are living in a world that is jumping between 2 slightly different realities.

Is this partly what you are referring to in this thread? If not, my apologies and I will start a new one.

Dear Patient,

That is not what I was referring to, but please don't apologise.

I think what you are speaking about is that what some people refer to as "Glitches in the Matrix".

I would like if you would start that thread, I'm sure there will be many interesting stories to hear

I tend to agree, and I feel as if it may connect with "As Above, So Below" concept. The more I think about that phrase, the more I feel like the reverse could be also possible - "As Below, So Above"...? Maybe that sounds silly - I think the Kaballah describes it better. The future affecting the past used to sound silly to me - but not any more.
