It's nice to see some koalas safe and happy, even if it's from 2017...
Heart Warming Moment Mama & Baby Koala Reunite
Dec 18, 2017
Koalafication
"This wee little wild baby koala was walking on the ground all alone and lost while it's Mama was high in the tree - not a good place for baby! There was no time to waste as the road was close by and local dogs around. I do not interfere with wildlife unless it is a dire situation and in this case it was. I will always call Fauna Rescue when possible but it was sensible to just get them together asap. but Mum & Bub were quickly reunited and we left them alone and watched over them for a couple of hours as they hung out in the tree top. 3 days later and they are still in our trees 😍 Tis' the koala season here in Greenhill! The neighbourhood are on watch for vulnerable koalas this time of year, we take care on the roads and watch out for wandering koalas, we also leave out water stations during heatwaves and contact Koala Rescue when there is a sick, injured or compromised koala."

This orangutan saw a man wading in snake-infested water and decided to offer a helping hand
By Emma Reynolds, CNN

The orangutan held out its hand to the man,
who was clearing snakes from a river as part of
efforts to protect the endangered apes.
he natural world never fails to surprise us, and this moving encounter between an orangutan and a man in Borneo has melted hearts all over the world.
Amateur photographer Anil Prabhakar captured the fleeting moment, in which one of the Indonesian island's critically endangered apes stretched out its hand to help a man out of snake-infested water.
Prabhakar was on a safari with friends at a conservation forest run by the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS) when he witnessed the scene.
He told CNN: "There was a report of snakes in that area so the warden came over and he's clearing snakes.
"I saw an orangutan come very close to him and just offer him his hand."
Prabhakar said it was difficult for the guard to move in the muddy, flowing water. It seemed as if the orangutan was saying "May I help you"? to the man, he said.
"I really wasn't able to click," he said. "I never expected something like that.
"I just grabbed that moment. It was really emotional."
Venomous snakes are predators of Borneo's orangutans, which are under threat from forest fires, habitat loss and hunting.
"You could say snakes are their biggest enemy," said Prabhakar, a geologist from Kerala in India.
The guard then moved away from the ape and climbed out of the water. When Prabhakar asked why he moved away, "He said, 'they're completely wild, we don't know how they'll react.'"
Prabhakar said the entire encounter lasted just three or four minutes. "I'm so happy that moment happened to me," he said.
His photo of the moment has been liked 15,000 times on Instagram.
The orangutan is Asia's only great ape and is found mostly in Borneo and Sumatra in Indonesia, with the remaining 10% found in Sabah and Sarawak in Malaysia, according to the BOS foundation. It is estimated that the Bornean orangutan population has decreased by more than 80% within the past three generations.
The apes are brought to the conservation forest if they are injured, at risk from hunters or facing destruction of their habitats. Once they are healthy, they are returned to the wild.
They also reproduce very slowly, according to BOS. A female will only give birth every six to eight years in the wild.

I'm posting the following video here rather than the vegan thread in the hope that it will get more traffic and sympathy which will in turn translate into more people clicking the links and signing the petition to end it. This is next level sick and all you US tax payers have been paying for it for years! Here's your chance to change it. Don't worry about demands for a telephone number in the form: just put 0123456789 or some other random number beginning with 0 and it will process just fine. If you are concerned about sharing details with PETA, just give a fake name and email. This is about the numbers, ladies and gentlemen. Please do what you can. It only takes a few seconds. The petition link is in the video description (there is no gore in the video by the way).

I posted a video about Honey Badgers on the coronavirus thread — because Chris Martenson has suggested renaming the virus to the Honey Badger virus. That's because Honey Badgers, despite their endearing name, are small, clever, dangerous, and never, ever give up.
The video I posted was this one — an extract from the delightful (fictional!) comedy The Gods Must Be Crazy 2. Do enjoy this... it's really very funny. :)

But here's a real video, with no trained animals involved. It shows how astonishingly clever and ingenious they are — pretty much at chimpanzee level. Enjoy this too, and be amazed. (Kudos to AutumnW, who sent this to me privately.)

Sunday I was walking in the forest when out of nowhere a red bull wandered up. He did not appear to be aggressive, just stood there and watched me and when my horse and I walked away he followed us all the way home. I talked to him a bit, he had no tags. I went in and called my neighbor who has cows and they do not run red cows. He said he didn't know anyone nearby who did. He warned me that most bulls are mean and to be careful. Feeling fearful for my old horse I went out to put her in the pen and Red Bull (that is what I named him) was standing there. I brushed him and fed him some feed. Now he follows me everywhere. We are quite the group, me, my horse, my dogs and now Red Bull walking thru the forest.
I called the Sheriff, they came out and had a look at him, said no tags so there is nothing they could do and they were clearly afraid of him. They said they would haul him off if I wanted. I didn't.
Someone help me....what does this mean? This bull showing up like that?

My guess is that this animal was/is in need of something ─ possibly affection or companionship ─ and he found it in you. He is a friend ─ a gift from the universe, put on your path. If he has no tags, then technically ─ at least, from the legal perspective ─ he's yours. So offer him a home and be kind to him. He will be kind to you.

Here is one explanation:
"MEANING: Fertility, Abundance, Strength
Native American Bull Animal Medicine
Bull People are learning to use their God-given strength and power to hold their ground in order to manifest desires into physical reality.
When Bull Medicine grabs your attention it is asking you to gather your strength and power, which are not only physical, but mental as well. Bringing together strength and power from within to create will-power in order to hold your ground when the going seems to be getting tough.
Not only does Bull Medicine bring many gifts through their physical contribution, they are also believed to bring rain to the tribe with their thundering hooves, which is another symbol of abundance. This is because the sound of their hooves hitting the ground sounds just like an earthquake. This sound gives them dominion over the earth, even when the earth, quakes.
Bull also represents fertility since one single Bull can impregnate entire herds of cows, which is another form of abundance. For this reason, Bull Medicine is called upon to Bless intimate relations.
Bull's message is about using your inner strength and power in order to call abundance into your Life. Much like Buffalo Medicine it is asking you to embrace abundance in ALL forms. Look around you; there may be something in your space that has the capacity to create more abundance than you realize. When Bull Medicine comes in front of you, it is reminding you to think abundantly and the ability to replicate is in your grasp."

Bull's message is about using your inner strength and power in order to call abundance into your Life.
That it was a symbolic message from the universe was my second thought, although I wasn't sure what that message would have been. The representation of strength was obvious, but abundance and fertility were not things I had considered. ;)
As an aside, the bull ─ and specifically, a raging bull ─ is also the emblem of the Lamborghini marque, given that Ferrucio Lamborghini was an avid admirer of the courage of the Spanish fighting bulls. All regular production Lamborghinis ─ not the limited-run models or the concept prototypes ─ are named after famous fighting bulls.
(Note: Yours truly is not a fan of bullfighting, which I consider a barbaric tradition.)

Something unusual happened today. I was out with the animals. Standing on the edge of the pasture with Red Bull, wishing I could understand what it is he seems so desperate to tell me. I saw this person standing on the edge of the forest in a rust red cloak. He (or she) ducked behind a tree and continued to peer out at me. I wasn't frightened but I was curious so I took a few steps forward. The person looked at me for a few moments and then disappeared, sort of floated up into the trees. I turned around and Red Bull was gone. I have to admit that startled me but he is very stealthy. My horse and I walked back to the barn. I have the deepest feeling someone is trying to tell me something but I am not receiving the message.

Real Life Animal Whisperer Talks to Animals Telepathetically - "I Talk to Animals" (Documentary)
Synopsis:
Samantha Khury claims she can communicate with animals telepathically, and persuade them to cease problematic behaviors. She diagnosed one cat, Casey, as "depressed because he's unemployed." The owners found Casey a "job" and they all lived happily ever after. She is sought after not just by pet owners but by animal professionals such as race horse trainers and zookeepers. Beyond the humor and absurdity, the film deepens into a meditation on human-animal relationships.

This woman Samantha talked to the animals of a friend of mine, I'll tell about the horses first.
Her name is Lourinda and she had two horses that were boarded at a local stable; she went to visit and ride several times a week. One was older, twenty-six I believe, and was rarely ridden any longer His name was King's Irish, I've forgotten the name of the younger horse, this was early 1980s. :)
She went to ride one day when Samantha was there for some other horses and Lourinda asked if the would talk to her horses. She talked to both and went to Lourinda with her report.
She said Kings Irish was unhappy that he was being left behind at the barn for the summer because Lourinda was concerned he would have a hard time being trailered up the the mountains for the summer along with the younger horse. It's what she had done for many years and he did not want to be left behind. He felt that he should go as he was sure he would die during the summer and he wanted to be with her and his horse friend. She was surprised he knew all this and saddened that he knew he was dying and she would loose him. He was accepting and she is a pragmatic sort so she was accepting as well. So a plan was developed, with his cooperation, to exercise him to build up his muscles over the next few months to withstand the trip of about 2 hours.
He made it up to the mountains and she rode the younger horse several times a week on the mountain trails while KI followed along.
He was right, he died in the mountains after about 2 months. She went in to feed one morning and he was gone and she arranged for burial. He had been with her for over 20 years.
Samantha also went to her house visited with some baby rescue raccoons. They told her their mother went missing during a storm and how Lourinda had taken them in and made a nest for them in the bottom drawer of a bureau and took care of them. They described their old and new surroundings and said they knew the was human and not their mother but took care of them as if she were.
She later taught them where to find water, how to wash their food and how to forage. She fed them and gradually allowed them freedom to roam, withholding food until they returned to encourage them to forage on their own but providing food when they returned if needed. Eventually they all left home but would return to visit. The females eventually returned with their babies and the males just to say hi and have a meal. Their young ones also continued to visit.
Animals are magical.

...including: "Bad behaviour is infectious, but then good behaviour is contagious too; it’s called example. Good behaviour is your vaccination against bad. Title for a spaghetti eastern: the good, the bad, and the pretty.
This is why social distancing is problematic: the positive contagion is halted too. But the problem has to be overcome. You need to be able to live with the source of danger, like Anna Breytenbach with the wild leopard Diabolo. In her case, there was no need to bring down the fence or enter the cage, for she was able to communicate telepathically. Telepathy supposedly does not exist but the results are there for all to see. This is one example of novel breakthroughs. Roger Federer has another method: tennis. You don’t need to share race, creed, gender or sexual orientation to enjoy a game of tennis with someone, especially if they donate to your favourite charity. You can keep the social distancing across the net, play at weaponized conflict, and engage in communication, reach a degree of understanding, at some other level. This is all actually very basic stuff, but it needs to be taken to a new level, to create interactions among people who are otherwise seemingly too far apart."
and this from http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?110418-Let--s-open-some-gates-and-windows&p=1347673&viewfull=1#post1347673:
"But the need to command respect is more germane to this discussion, for it is something this big cat Spirit (ex-Diabolo) rightly thinks we have trouble understanding. The existence of an elite is the result of a confiscation of this sense of self-worth among ordinary people. The problem becomes insoluble when viewed as species-based issue that has lasted for thousands of years. But it can be scaled right down to authoritarianism or paternalism at an individual level. It is an ineffective approach where the corresponding effective solution is education. It goes like this. You can’t do this properly (because I haven’t taught you). So I’ll do it myself. No one can do it like I can, so no one gets to do it and so no one gets to learn. This approach is ineffective because anyone who makes themselves irreplaceable is placing an intolerable burden on their own shoulders. When they are unable to go on, as inevitably happens at some point, there will be an awkward transitional period while others learn from scratch and get up to speed. This is how castes are formed, when one group’s self-worth is raised at the expense of everyone else’s. People who were simply leaders became gods and it has been one long downward slide ever since. In the 17th century, Charles I of England was still touting this divine right of kings nonsense… until he was beheaded. This problem is still with us to the present day, because as government becomes intrinsically ever more difficult, the need to pretend to have some control is ever greater, and in fact many are buying into the idea that the controllers actually do have what amounts to a stranglehold. It was always make-believe and the lie has only got bigger, along with the level of incompetence."

Hello All
I happen to have met this cat . One early morning I was strolling along a local beach and there he was with his Bengal cat brother, sniffing around on the sand, sitting on some rocks and very interested in the surf!
It was a wonder to behold - 2 cats on a beach!.. Didga's custodian is a professional animal trainer.
Thanks for such a beaut thread; it is a wealth of upliftment and inspiration.

I experienced the one with the dolphins myself and will never forget it. A whole pod of dolphins were swimming next to our diving boat in the Red Sea and seemed to enjoy our reaction to seeing them by doing some beautiful jumps for us and staying with us for a few minutes.
Those are magical moments in our lives.

This is a little video of 2 girls that have dogs and rescue cats regularly, to find them new homes. They found this little kitten which they tried to nurse back to health but it wouldn't eat. The dog of one of the girls adopted it and the kitten perked up again and started drinking milk.
The two became so close the girls didn't want them to have to them part again and now the cat comes on walks/even hikes with the dogs and the girls, even goes kayaking and swims (not too happily I'm guessing) in the pool.
It's a heart-warming story.

Animal communication - Understanding how animals think and feel

"This film tells the story of Laïla Del Monte, a world-famous animal communicator. Animal communication is the ability to understand what the animal feels using intuition and empathy. This phenomenon, born in the USA, is now spreading to Europe. Quite a few certitudes are being questioned and just as the latest discoveries in ethology show, the frontier between Man and Animal is becoming thinner.

Through a series of encounters with specialists, Laïla shows that animals feel a wide range of emotions and that they do, in fact, have a conscience. This is a unique testimony, which broadens the way we look at animals and invites us to undertake the very same journey within our inner selves."

It's fine when posts get repeated, but for people who have been following the thread for a long time, it's helpful if a repeat (especially a video) is done with a :bump: from the original post, in order to save a bit of time for fans of the thread who have already seen that post, and don't want to spend time on it again.
TOO many repetitions, even if they're great ones, can become problematical, and just take up space.

I've noticed that the birds and other wild animals in my area seem to be happily going about their daily business, without a care in the world.
I don't have any pets, but wonder if any pet owners notice any difference in the behavior of their pets in the past few months?
Are they picking up any vibes from their owners?
Do they seem to be more nervous than usual or stressed out a bit?
Or are they their happy-go-lucky natural selves?

Wild Jumping Shark Almost Lands in Boat in Australia (https://www.tmz.com/2020/07/17/jumping-mako-shark-flips-out-almost-lands-in-boat-australia/)
A flippin' awesome mako shark gloriously leaping out of the water barely avoided a crash landing in a passing boat ... then carried on with its sick jumps.
The crazy scene played out in Australia, naturally, where a group of friends were fishing off the coast of Queensland when they noticed the mako -- also known as a blue pointer -- putting on a spectacular show ... beyond SeaWorld-level stuff.
One of the guys began filming after the shark had already breached the water a few times -- getting several feet of air with each leap -- but fortunately, it was just getting started.
On the shark's third jump in the video, it damn near hit a fishing boat, but landed in the water right beside it. Then it swam on for a couple more stunts.
Makos are the world’s fastest sharks -- reaching top speeds of nearly 50 mph. They often jump in this manner to escape fishing hooks, but are also known to go free-jumping just because.
Looks like this was a case of the latter ... which makes it way flippin' better.

Linda Zimmermann | Animal Reactions To UFOs
Streamed & Published 4th August 2020
Guest Linda Zimmermann to discuss the reactions of animals during UFO sightings, which may provide clues to the nature of the phenomenon and how to conduct better research. So many sightings occur because the witness was alerted by a dog barking, or barnyard animals making sounds of alarm, but that aspect is usually just a brief mention in reports. Animals have keen senses and don’t have an imagination, so their reactions prove that something real is happening.
Bio: Linda Zimmermann is a research chemist turned award-winning author of over 30 books on science, history, the paranormal, and fiction. She has lectured across the country, and has appeared on numerous TV and radio shows.
Linda starred in the documentary, In the Night Sky: I Recall a UFO, which was based on her research into sightings in the Hudson Valley of New York. The film won the 2013 People’s Choice Award at the EBE Film Festival at the International UFO Congress in Arizona. Her three UFO books are: In the Night Sky, Hudson Valley UFOs, and More Hudson Valley UFOs. She is working on a Hudson Valley UFO compendium, as well as a book on animal reaction cases, and another major project which will be announced soon.
She is the host of two podcasts, UFO Headquarters, and the true crime show, Murder in the Hudson Valley, and the creator and writer of the 1950s-style sci-fi spoof series, Science Friction Theater, all on http://hudsonriverradio.com

This one is quite interesting as the herd of horses that she was meditating with added her to their herd so she would never be alone after some friends left her. Horses are so amazing and, slowly, people are beginning to understand animals are fully sentient. Not human, but horses are people too.

*I worked as an equine specialist and I was left in awe how equine therapy works with troubled kids and their families. I was a first responder for over 20 years and have developed a rather thick skin. I accepted the job at the therapeutic ranch and approached it as being the horse’s primary caretaker and observer during sessions. It took less than 2 weeks before I witnessed a miracle...
There was a child with extreme anger management who would attack EVERYONE if angered, frustrated or overwhelmed. She loved a particular miniature horse and would usually request her to work with. One day she had had a very bad day and showed up for her therapy session with smoldering anger. That miniature refused to do anything with her... She repeatedly avoided the girl. Finally, the girl became so frustrated that she turned to me with tears in her eyes and begged for me to “catch” that bratty horse. I asked her HOW she was feeling and she finally answered that she was very, very angry. That’s all it took...
She paused and thought about it and I watched the concept click in her head that horse’s WILL always avoid someone that is feeling very angry, frustrated or any other extreme or unbalanced emotion. She looked at me and said “I’m scaring her with my anger? I’m not angry with her...” I replied that all horse’s need to be able to trust you and when you’re that angry it frightens her. She literally made the connection that her out of control emotions and impulsivity was HURTING her relationship with her favorite horse. From that day forward she made impressive progress and I was privileged to watch her becoming a much more happy and more confident person.*

this reminds me a little of something I read--can't recall where but it was presented as an actual recently past event--about a farmer who always treated his herd of cows (milk cows, I hope) with affection and respect. Each cow had a name and the farmer spent time every day with very cow. One day he was out in the pasture doing something, maybe mending a fence, when suddenly an irate bull started to charge him from another quarter of the pasture. Immediately his herd gathered around him and sealed him off from the bull. The bull charged back and forth in front of the cordon the herd had formed but finally went away without harming either cows or farmer. These things happen.

Speaking about hives...
I recently adopted some pet hornets!
I never in my wildest dreams thought this would ever occur.
I have a porch lamp and some hornets thought it would be an ideal place to set up shop (home).
It's covered by the lamp and the the porch has a roof too (so double coverage).
Well I had my front door opened a couple of weeks ago for a short time and I notice them critters flying back and forth in
and out of the lamp. I had never noticed them there before.
My first reaction to was to think how I was going to be able to get them out of there (safely).
Then after thinking about it some more, I decide to simply adopt them as pets!
They weren't doing me any harm and I wasn't doing them any harm so I figured what the heck,
let them enjoy the free shelter. :)
I already have some birds nests in a few of my trees. :)

The Shark netting program killed 364 marine creatures in NSW last year in these nets to satisfy our fear of nature. The dead include dolphins, turtles, endangered sharks, stingrays etc. The crazy thing about all these deaths is that there is no evidence that these shark nets, that are usually only 100 meters long, actually make people safer. Many of the targeted sharks were caught on the beach side of the nets as they were leaving. Besides there are many non lethal alternatives that are much more effective. Some people are being hoodwinked.
Last week while surfing in the Brunswick river mouth I utilised a technique taught to me by world renown Animal Communicator, Anna Breytenbach. I sent a telepathic message to any sharks that maybe in the area that I am their friend, I am not food or competition. I calmed my energy, breath and heart rate and I transmuted any lingering fear I may have around sharks. I said in my mind to any possible nearby shark, could you please keep a small distance away, and we can both be here in relative harmony with each other.
I know there are many would doubt that sharks and humans are able to communicate yet I would suggest there is no harm in utilising these techniques yourself next time your in the ocean. It is certainly no more fanciful that thinking shark nets will protect you.

First time sighting of a Mink for me.
I wish I had a pic, but it was too far away. (I need to get a good lenses for my camera).
It was running around in our back yard - so cute.
In our yard we have beaver (at least 4), chipmunks, cranes. I have seen all kinds of birds - all kinds of water foul. Ducks, cranes and geese. There are deer (although I have not seen one here myself.) Coyotes, and fox.
I don't think there are any black bear here anymore - too many people. Another hour north there are bear.

21 Most Incredible Moth Species
Fundraiser

"#21 Lime Hawk Moth
Found throughout Europe and Western Asia, this species has also been documented in eastern regions of Canada. While males are smaller than females, their coloration is usually more pronounced. Its body and wing shape, along with the combination of dark green and brown blotches almost makes it look like a camouflaged fighter jet.
#20 Twin Spotted Sphinx
This one belongs to a family of hawk moths and is widely found throughout North America. While they occur as far north as the Yukon, they seem to be picky when it comes to California. According to some sources the creatures cannot be found in the southern or western regions of the Golden State.
#19 Hornet Moth
If you didn’t know any better, you’d think this was a full-on hornet. It’s an example of mimicry in the animal kingdom. By resembling the more-fearsome insect, this moth is very unappealing to predators who don’t want to get stung. It’s even the approximate size of a hornet, and mimics the jerky flight pattern of that animal.
#18 Gallium Sphinx
Also called the Bedstraw hawk-moth, these animals are widely dispersed across the globe. In addition to North America they show up in Central Asia, Japan, and the Arctic Circle in Europe. They’re active from May through October, but mainly at night.
#17 Giant Leopard Moth
Compared to other moths on our list, a wingspan of some 3 inches (7.6 cm) might not seem so ‘giant’. While that’s a respectable size, there’s no debating their reference to leopards. Like those big cats, these insects display some unique, spotted patterns.
#16 IO Moth (eye-oh)
The name “I-O” is a fitting name, given the prominent eye spots that appear on the wings of this species. As with other moths and butterflies with similar markings, the patterns are a defense mechanism that frightens away predators.
#15 Pellucid Hawk Moth (peh-loo-sid)
Many entomologists find this species intriguing due to its unusual appearance. They have a stout body like a bumblebee, along with transparent wings that provide camouflage.
#14 Garden Tiger Moth
The black spotting and orange hindwings of this animal obviously inspired the reference to tigers. But the patterns can vary depending on the individual animals. Researchers have found at least 500 variant patterns that occur within this species.
#13 Luna Moth
Its wingspan can approach 7 inches (18 cm), making this one of the largest moths found in North America. The insect’s common name is a reference to Luna, the Roman goddess of the Moon. But their self defense mechanisms don’t sound so divine.
#12 Owl Moth
This insect is found throughout India and into China and Japan. They’re a robust species, with a wingspan that measures more than 6 inches (160 mm). Their wings are distinguished by a pattern of black and brown stripes.
#11 Hummingbird Hawk Moth
Thanks to its long proboscis (pruh-bos-sis), hovering behavior, and humming noise the reference to hummingbirds is easy to see. It even feeds on the same flowers as the namesake bird.
#10 Hercules Moth
When a creature is named for a legendary demigod known for his power, you’d expect it to be big. The Hercules Moth is endemic to northern Australia and New Guinea. And its 11-inch wingspan (27 cm) makes it the largest moth known in Oz. "

'Mighty Mice' Stay Musclebound In Space

Bulked-up, mutant "mighty mice" held onto their muscle during a monthlong stay at the International Space Station, returning to Earth with ripped bodybuilder physiques, scientists reported Monday.
The findings hold promise for preventing muscle and bone loss in astronauts on prolonged space trips like Mars missions, as well as people on Earth who are confined to bed or need wheelchairs.

This morning I was having coffee lamenting that my hummingbird feeders were quiet. No chirping and humming of the flock who normally attend my feeders. Summer is passing and they are migrating I thought. Then I heard them, chirping and coming in to feed, slowly at first. I looked around and realized my hummingbird tree is full of resting hummingbirds. They began to fly around my head, wishing me the best of the day, I have the distinct feeling they are saying goodbye for now!

Yeah, Patient, it's really nice when our pets show us that kind of bond with us. :)
I had a cat for 14 years and she knew when I was coming home as well. Most people think cats are not as loyal as dogs, are more attached to their surroundings than their owners and won't listen to what you are saying.
Well, mine did. She used to play catch with me when she was young, she used to snuggle up to me when I was sad and one day my father was doing some gardening for me while I was at work. As always she'd joined him, played with him (jumped on the shovel etc) when suddenly she ran into the house and stood on the windowsill in the kitchen which is at the front. My father was wondering what had got into her and followed her, looked outside with her but saw nothing. But then he saw my car coming around the corner and was bewildered that she had known I was coming home even before she could see me. :)
She passed on over 10 years ago, but I still have very fond memories of her and the bond we shared. :)

Thank you for creating the video and sharing it with us. Heart hugs to all.
I just saw this post. So BEAUTIFUL!
When I was about 4 years old I was at a relatives' farm. I was not being watched closely and I heard the call for two horses to come into their pen area. One horse was lingering and my untrained 4 yo self thought I would be helpful and push the horse at his hind quarters. He promptly kicked me high and low in the field. I was black and blue, no broken bones and lost my dimes out of my penny loafers. lol.
This is when I became afraid of horses. As beautiful as they are I have yet to overcome this. The horses I have ridden since have either thrown me off or just stood still.
This beautiful story is touching my heart and gave me the impetus to sit with a horse or two and meditate and overcome my fear.
Become one with them. I see a way now to face this fear. Thank you.

Another beautiful story, raregem, thank you for sharing it and finding inspiration for a way to heal your fear. Horses are big and can be frightening, I've been there but have always been able to pick myself up and go back to them.
I can do this because I know they startle easily and can react quickly but I have never found them to be mean spirited, just frightened or startled.
I really do love your idea of meditating with them, I see this as a good road to take

Tabby was found in the hay shed during a very cold winter night, barely alive, an abandoned kitten.
After being fed and kept warm he became used to people and visited our home every evening. He has something to eat and follows you around and likes watching movies and documentaries sometimes.
This photo was taken while he watched a King Kong movie with amplifiers and all. I thought the noise would frighten him, but instead he stayed for about half an hour enticed by the sound and action.

Five parrots removed from public view after swearing at customers at popular Lincolnshire attraction
https://i2-prod.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/incoming/article391176.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/Parrot-singing-opera.jpg
The chief executive of Lincolnshire Wildlife Park had to temporarily remove five newly adopted parrots from public view after they started swearing at the customers.
He said: “For the last 25 years, we have always taken in parrots that have sometimes had a bit of blue language and we have really got used to that.
“Every now and then you’ll get one that swears and it’s always funny. We always find it very comical when they do swear at you.
“But, just by coincidence, we took in five in the same week and because they were all quarantined together it meant that one room was just full of swearing birds.
“The more they swear the more you usually laugh which then triggers them to swear again.
“But when you get four or five together that have learnt the swearing and naturally learnt the laughing so when one swears, one laughs and before you know it just got to be like an old working men’s’ club scenario where they are all just swearing and laughing.”
The birds were soon put out on display – but it didn’t take long before the swearing resumed.
Mr Nichols, who admits it is rather funny when the birds swear, said: “Literally within 20 minutes of being in the introductory we were told that they had sworn at a customer and for the next group of people, all sorts of obscenities came out.
“And for one of our young girls they really gave her some abuse.
“We found it highly amusing and the customers were fine – they were no problem at all.
“But we worried because we had a weekend coming up and children coming.”
Despite wanting to give people a laugh during some incredibly worrying times with coronavirus, a decision was made to put the birds where they couldn’t be heard before children arrived.
Mr Nichols said: “We put them in an off-shore enclosure with the intention that hopefully they will start learning the other parrot’s noise that are around.
“They are African grey parrots and they are very, very good at learning vocalisations from all sorts of noises.
“What we will do now is release them out but in separate areas so at least if they do swear it is not as bad as three or four of them all blasting it out at once.”

I cat-sat recently for three kittens, two females and one male, the latter of which was like the cat in the video.
He simply could not sit still for even a minute and ran circles around his poor sisters who would sit huddled together in the same spot, motionless, with the saddest, most resigned expressions on their faces.
The only time they had a moment's peace was when he had finally exhausted himself and collapsed into sleep.
And the owner wanted to keep the hyperactive male and give the sisters up for adoption, though if it had been me, it would most certainly have been the other way around.
Though it would be entertaining to see what two such hyperactive cats would get up to if put together...pandemonium would surely ensue!

Botswana Says It’s Solved the Mystery of a Mass Elephant Die-Off
Conservationists were baffled when hundreds of elephants died in the Okavango Delta this summer.
https://assets.atlasobscura.com/media/W1siZiIsInVwbG9hZHMvYXNzZXRzLzJhNzc1MWNiLTE4ODAtNDk3Yy1iNGViLTI5NTdmOWVlMmZlMThkMzUzZGEzNmI2M2ViMjAz ZF9HZXR0eUltYWdlcy0xMTcxNzk0MTg1LmpwZyJdLFsicCIsImNvbnZlcnQiLCIiXSxbInAiLCJjb252ZXJ0IiwiLXF1YWxpdHkg ODEgLWF1dG8tb3JpZW50Il0sWyJwIiwidGh1bWIiLCIxMjgweD4iXV0/GettyImages-1171794185.jpg
HUNDREDS OF ELEPHANTS DIED IN Botswana earlier this year from ingesting toxins produced by cyanobacteria, according to government officials who say they will be testing waterholes for algal blooms next rainy season to reduce the risk of another mass die-off.
The mysterious death of 350 elephants in the Okavango Delta between May and June baffled conservationists, with leading theories suggesting they were killed by a rodent virus known as EMC (encephalomyocarditis) or toxins from algal blooms.
“Our latest tests have detected cyanobacterial neurotoxins to be the cause of deaths. These are bacteria found in water,” Mmadi Reuben, principal veterinary officer at the Botswana Department of Wildlife and National Parks, said in a news conference on Monday. “However, we have many questions still to be answered such as why the elephants only and why that area only. We have a number of hypotheses we are investigating.”
Local sources suggest 70 percent of elephants died near water holes containing algal blooms, which can produce toxic microscopic organisms called cyanobacteria. Toxins were initially ruled out because no other species died, except for one horse, but scientists now think elephants could be particularly susceptible because they spend a lot of time bathing and drinking large quantities of water.

Rare black tiger caught on camera by lucky photographer as just SIX now known to exist in the wild

45184As many of you know I lost my beautiful Blue on October 23rd. I have been lost without her. I talk to her every day and while we are talking she sends one large yellow butterfly to sit with me.
On my walks I am lost without her. So I was driving by the pound Monday when I went to my office for the day and something said turn in so I did. There was this amazing white shepard/chow mix dog. 45185 The pound worker said, "you don't want this dog, she has been abused and is pretty crazy". Well you know what happened. I took her home. I got her out of the car and she bolted. I have never seen an animal run that fast. For the next 3 hours I hunted her. Finally found her under the tree the buzzards roost in every night. I sat and talked with her. Told her all about Blue and that I wanted to put Blue's collar on her. She finally let me and I led her home. She has completely changed. Weirdly enough she does some of the same little things Blue used to do when she wants my attention. As I work she is on the couch in my office. She sits or lays in the same spot Blue used to inhabit. She bumps my leg with her nose when we are walking to let me know she is there....just like Blue did.

I can never replace my beautiful Blue Dog but I have this love in my heart that needed to be given and Bella needed love. I'm not sure if I had already posted this one before - I don't think so. I find it really interesting - looks like something out of the prehistoric age.

More big feet that 'belong to a common coot, a member of the Rallidae family. Coots flaunt remarkable “fissipalmate” feet, which means their toes are lobed. This adaptation is useful both to propel the bird while swimming and to help it move over soft, uneven surfaces. They have strong legs and can walk and run vigorously.'

"A man recorded the moment he was reunited with his beloved donkey after two agonising months apart due to lock-down.
Friends and families all over the world have had to endure heart-ache due to the social limits enforced through social distancing and lock-down due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
For Ismael Fernandez, 38, who was quarantined in the centre of Malaga, Spain, the long-awaited 45 minute trip to the countryside of Balmera on May 18th was a momentous occasion, as after two months apart, Ismael, and his beloved eight-year-old donkey, Baldomera, were finally reunited in an emotional display.
The tears didn't just come from Ismael though, as Baldomera was quite obviously emotional to see her old friend again."

Something I've been marvelling over.
Leaf sheep. It's the only animal that can photosynthesize. They are sea slugs that are technically animals but like plants, they get most of their energy from the sun.
45404
When leaf sheep eat algae, they suck out the chloroplasts and incorporate them into their own bodies in a process called kleptoplasty.
45405
They’re only about 5 mm long and can be found in shallow marine waters in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Biofluorescent Australian mammals and marsupials take scientists by surprise in accidental discovery
Key points:
Scientists around the world have excited by the discovery that some marsupials and mammals, including platypuses and wombats biofluoresce under UV light
Biofluorescence is a glow-in-the-dark phenomenon where light waves are absorbed and re-emitted based on the properties of the fur or skin of the animal
More research is required to understand why these animals glow under UV light
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-07/us-zoo-researchers-discover-tasmanian-devils-glow-under-uv-light/12957148?utm_medium=social&utm_content=sf240827155&utm_campaign=abc_hobart&utm_source=m.facebook.com&sf240827155=1&fbclid=IwAR3lC_vGM5-x4wmDv7Cja-w8Jfy9XT7YZ-wgK4OUmC6gWzbz8SX6nd6aGPE
Tasmanian devils glow under UV light, researchers confirm after Australian animals biofluorescence discovery
Key points:
US researchers have discovered the Tasmanian devil's facial features glow blue under ultraviolet light
Researchers at Toledo Zoo in Ohio were inspired by a recent study that found the same phenomenon occurred in platypuses
Scientists say the discovery will help them learn more about how the Tasmanian devil interacts with the world

For the last 3 days I have been out with Parks and Wildlife attempting to trap and move a female mountain lion and her two cubs who had taken up residence on my property. Unfortunately there were some hunters who were determined to take her for trophy, claiming that she was eating stock from neighboring ranches. She may have been but lions love to eat wild hog as well, which is a big problem out here. The hogs are very destructive and in my view, much more dangerous than a lion. Parks and Wildlife asked for help in darting this amazing animal so they could move her to an area where she could roam and live unharmed. Mountain lions are a nongame species but they can be taken with the proper hunting license. We were pretty frantic to get this lion because we had a group of hunters camping about a mile from us who were equally determined to kill her and her cubs. Fortunately for us, they were having quite a party so we knew exactly where they were and I am sure the cat did as well.
So we put out hog parts as bait. Hog has a very particular smell and it is very unpleasant. I have a feeling I will not forget that smell for a very long time! For two nights we watched her through night vision glasses circling the camp, checking out the bait. My dog Bella was terrified but she handled it well. Parks and wildlife also had their dogs but they were used to this sort of thing! On night 3 she came in to eat and brought the babies, (babies is an misnomer, the babies weighted about 50 pounds each). We successfully darted all three of them.
The cats were tagged, mom got a tracking collar, blood was taken and their health was accessed, then the race was on to load them and get them out of the area before they woke up. We got them back, loaded them onto the trucks and they are, as I type, on there way to a safe place to be released. To get to touch such magnificent animals was a privileges I will not soon forget. I wanted pictures but Parks and Wildlife asked me not to photograph them as they did not want anything leaked onto the internet that the hunters might see--I happen to know the hunters who were out there, they are neighbors, not friends. They have promised me a photo of the cats being released to safety.
A side note, mountain lions make many vocalizations. I am sure that is what terrified my dog the most, scared me pretty good too. The mother lion makes a particular noise when talking to the babies. When she is upset or eager to mate, it sounds like a screaming person.
The photo is a stock photo!

What a special and wonderful experience. We have a lot of sightings of mountain lions where I live - many of them on my street and neighbours' backyards. With all the deforestation going on in my area, new pathways are opening up for a lot of wildlife and they come into town looking for food, which unfortunately in some cases, means people's pets. So, there is a mix of admiration and fear with residents when they show up. I like to believe that the same consideration is given to those caught here and they are relocated away from the town. However, I don't think it is always the case as this is a small town and probably doesn't have the finances or resources to take on such a project. So, it was really heartwarming to read about the rescue and transfer of "your" mountain lion - great story! Thanks.

The things that would convince me that it is real is simply the amount of people standing around looking at a snake. Are cobras themselves becoming rare? Maybe the people themselves are just curious to see if the guy taking the photo up close will get bit.
At the ground it looks real, but the uniformity of the heads is a bit odd and the skin of the open hood/belly area is a bit fuzzy.
I would think that if there was a snake with 3 heads that it would have a difficult time killing prey - unless they are always in perfect unison. How could it have survived to grow to the size it did? But I am not very knowledgable about snakes with one head, let alone one with three.

This photo went viral so not sure of the origin. I have seen many photos of multiple headed animals - cows, goats, etc. so assumed this was just another. So, I can't attest to its authenticity. If you are seeing something not right there, then maybe it is a hoax - don't know.

Well the original image makes sense... it's a large cobra, would draw a crowd..

of course the 3 headed one is fake..
I mean we all know they have 7 heads right?

It wouldn't surprise me if the bluebird of happiness symbolism was based upon something ancient and real.
The more bird species we live near, the happier we are, new study finds
The greater the diversity of birds we are surrounded by, the better our quality of life, a new German study (https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/12/201204110246.htm) finds.
“All across Europe, the individual enjoyment of life correlates with the number of surrounding bird species,” the study’s authors write.
Living and working near a bio-diverse population of birds is as important to our happiness levels as our income. A 10% increase in bird diversity increases our satisfaction with life as much as a 10% pay raise, the researchers found.
They used data from the “2012 European Quality of Life Survey” to determine whether there was a connection between birds and happiness in more than 26,000 adults from 26 European countries.
“The happiest Europeans are those who can experience numerous different bird species in their daily life, or who live in near-natural surroundings that are home to many species,”says the study’s lead author Joel Methorst, a doctoral researcher at Goethe University in Frankfurt.
As the most visible elements of the animate nature, birds are good indicators of overall biological diversity, particularly in urban areas.

Salps belong to the Tunicates. They are chordates without ceolom, segmentation or bony tissue. They look a bit like jellyfish, but taxonomically they are actually closer to humans than to jellyfish. Unlike other Tunicates, salps are planktonic.

"This lazy cat was in no mood to move - and she simply sprawled out on the floor of a restaurant.
The tabby named Thongdang was filmed sleeping coåmfortably on her back on the wooden floor in Chachoengsao, central Thailand on July 27.
When waitresses had to pass by carrying plates, Thongdang would not move and the staff had to step over the cat.
The restaurant boss said: ''She's the kind of cat that does what she wants and everybody else has to accommodate her.
''But we still love her, even when she lays on the ground and won't move.'' "

Bobcat Sitting on Top of 40 Foot Tall Cactus in the Arizona Desert
The mountain lion that was stalking him however just circled the base, stared upwards and growled for a few minutes before giving up and walking off.
http://www.whitewolfpack.com/2016/06/bobcat-sitting-on-top-of-40-foot-tall.html
https://i.imgur.com/9Y9hJRd.jpg
The drama unfolded on the Giant Saguaro Cactus in Arizona's Sonoran Desert. It is an enormous plant with two-inch spikes and is thought to be up to 300-years-old.Photographer Curt Fonger, 69, captured what happened on film.
He said: 'A friend called me at 7am saying one of his workers had seen a bobcat being chased by a mountain lion.
'It ran across the road in front of his car and climbed up a large saguaro cactus at the roadside, with the lion hot on its tail.'The lion didn't pursue the bobcat up the cactus but circled the base.
'It looked up at the bobcat, growled several times, then turned around and trotted back up from where it had come.'The mountain lion probably had cubs, the bobcat had intruded on its territory and she gave chase to warn the bobcat not to come close to her young family.
