I have often wondered if the radiation could not have been caused by micro nova of the sun/ plasma outburst.
The radiation levels could be incredibly high almost at nuclear levels.

The accounts I have read, including your own links, indicate that there indeed was a war between the "gods" in their flying machines. They speak to an event that was brighter than the sun, poisoned wind and water,l eading to by all accounts are pretty compelling signs of radiation sickness....
Somewhat boggles the mind to think the "gods" flying around and nuking one another millennia ago...and of course, we are caught in the middle.

I am not prepared to say it was "aliens" but there is just so much evidence of very advanced civilizations in the past that a local population that was not very advanced would really only be able to describe the advanced ones as "gods"

There are several cultures we have recently observed that are hunter-gatherers......with no technology. And no outside contact.
We would seem like gods to them.....we have planes, helicopters, nukes......well I do not but if some insane nation state starts a war or continues "testing" I can only imagine what/how they would respond.

Seems like we just keep[ repeating patterns of self destruction and aggression.

I do think I read somewhere that the Annunaki would tend to start a personal city state and reign from there.....individually, with the human populace serving them. They purportedly had a ranking system but were also highly competitive............I will have to do a bit more digging but I think Annana or perhaps Nin-khursag ( and they have 40 names so may not be "accurate") founded Mohenjo-daro but ended up in high conflict with Enlil.....who was no great friend to humans.....so I can totally see him nuking us..and flooding the planet....creating plagues etc etc
