View Full Version : Contemplative moments for a brief respite..
Forest Denizen
18th April 2019, 16:43
I'd like to post little scenes here that are filmed/videoed/shot in real time. The idea is to provide an easy to find place of quiet contemplation. A refuge where brief meditative moments might be enjoyed. One might label these brief moments, mise-en-scene, a term used in film for long shots in real time.
Here is the first one for your enjoyment!!:heart:
I took it this morning at 5:00 am as the moon was slowly setting over the Pacific.
With Love to you!

Lovely videos Forest, thank you.
Which beach did you go to?
Hey Latte, thank you!
The beach, Newport Beach, is less than 10 minutes from the house that I share here in Southern California. I go early in the morning, @5:00, sit and have my coffee under the stars as the surf is breaking against the sand and rolling almost to my feet!
Then, every morning that I can, I take a 3-mile walk, barefoot, in and out of the water. 1.5 miles down and then turn around and walk back. Different every day due to moon phase, tides, weather, etc. It's a lovely way to start the day! :inlove:
It's around sunrise when I finish. :sun:

Okay, here's a really good one that I found on Youtube. It's an hour long and done with very high quality equipment.
So, I don't think we have to post only "videos" that we've shot ourselves. AND, importantly, everyone should feel free to contribute to this thread. If you find a scene of beauty that resonates with you, go ahead and post it here!

Currently living a block away from a major highway, and within an earshot of a major railroad line, not to mention the mind numbing jingle from the ice-cream truck that has it's route based in my neighborhood this time of the year, I often day dream, but more anything, look forward to day when I return to the places where my soul feels truly at home.
Here is where the silence is deafening, where the landscape is breathtaking, where the night skies make me homesick of a place known only to the most deeper reaches of my soul, and where the magic that lurks cannot be adequately put into words.
Thus, a couple of years ago I created the two time-lapse videos below - to always remind me of where my soul most feels at home. May these landscapes and skies bring to your soul what they have brought to mine. Enjoy :sun:

“Hózhó" is a Navajo word that means “walking in beauty” – or living in a manner that strives to create and maintain balance, harmony, beauty and order. Hózhó, the Navajo concept of balance and beauty is similar to, but much richer in meaning than the term “conservation”, as it implies a deep connection between people and land. To be "in Hózhó" is to be at one with and a part of the world around you.

A few hours ago when the sun was setting, we went out in the garden only to say goodbye to my plants until morning and found in the sky a huge and double rainbow that I had rarely seen before.
We ran to the house after the camera and back to the end of the garden to film it, it lasted longer than the movie and it was for us the grace in colors for today, it simply completed the beauty of the hill that I see in many colors depending on the season.
From what I understand, there was another one just as huge in 2012 when I wasn't here, I was gone to Europe, but I'm definitely very happy to see him ... and I just want to share my joy with everyone loves rainbows!:bearhug:

God's Cricket Chorus (No Human Voices Or Instruments)
(10:06 min.)
"Want to hear something magical? Experimental director, composer and playwright Jim Wilson recorded the sound of crickets and then slowed down the recording, revealing something so amazing. The crickets sound like they are singing the most angelic chorus in perfect harmony. Though it sounds like human voices, everything you hear is the crickets themselves. There are two tracks, one is played at regular speed and the other is the slowed version. The singing you hear are the crickets only. No instruments or voices were added.
"The first time I heard it... I swore I was listening to the Vienna Boys Choir, or the Mormon Tabernacle choir. It has a four-part harmony it is a swaying choral panorama. No effects have been added of any kind except that they changed the speed of the tape. The sound is so haunting. I played it for Charlie Musselwhite and he looked at me as if I pulled a Leprechaun out of my pocket." Tom Waite.
Originally recorded by Jim Wilson and David Carson in 1992, Jim slowed down the original cricket song to match and mirror the lifespan of the average human being. The result is a work that induces an atmosphere of peace, serenity and healing, all courtesy of Mother Nature's Crickets. http://changethelifechannel.blogspot....

Soundcloud One Hour Recording: ►https://soundcloud.com/tags/crickets
Listening to this recording it sounds like females voices to me with a male chorus in the background, singing in the eight-tone scale, like I would call in musical terms, an interlude and then another chorus part. I feel so humbled after hearing this recording, more than I ever have before. -Bonnie Jo Hunt. http://hearingvoices.com/webwork/mcvi...
Crickets actually produce different calls for different purposes. The calling song, which may be heard for distances up to a mile, helps the female find the male. Once she is near, the male switches to a courtship song to convince her to mate with him. And, in some cases, the male also sings a post-copulation celebratory song. How do crickets produce sound? ►http://insects.about.com/od/grasshopp...
★ NOTE: Dave D'Aranjo slowed down cricket recording:
https://soundcloud.com/darangatang/da...
----------------
I usually hear the last lonely cricket chirp in mid-November. Crickets die with the frost and their offspring winter over as eggs. Cicadas leave this realm before that, late September or early October, it depends how cold it gets at night in the Northeast United States. Cicadas are more vulnerable to the cold than crickets. Personally, I love their chirps and always have. It is the males’ chirp you hear by rubbing or stridulate, or chirping, however, some female crickets chirp as well.
Did you know in China and other Asian countries, crickets are considered good luck, and are often kept as pets in specially-designed cages? Some European traditions hold that a cricket chirping in the house is a sign of future prosperity. Now that can be annoying because when they get in the house and chirp - it's loud.
.
I could not find good quality HD photos of crickets and had to include grasshoppers which are related to crickets as are locust. Many of the slides in this video were created by me in Proshow Producer.
.
All God’s Creatures have a place in the choir. Many thanks to Jim Wilson and David Carson. And thank you the viewer for watching.

Youtube channel Lauren Zachary comment in reply to another user:
What the heck? No, what are you even talking about? Here, let me help you to understand a little better. This isn't a, "Christian scam". (?) On earth, and throughout our universe, there is time. As such, there are human life-spans, and then, there are cricket life-spans. (They live for only weeks at a time.) Because crickets have shorter life-spans, they hear, for example sound much slower than a human does. To a human, the noise a cricket makes sounds like the chirp that they produce. On the other hand, to a cricket, these "angelic voices/hums" are what they hear. Crickets know this is the noise they create; they hum together. But to a human, the hums are way fast-forwarded to the point where it sounds like a chirp. This is science. It's not a, "Christian scam". That makes me mad, because I, myself, am a Christian; and by the way, how would this protrude our religion forward? It would only earn teasing and discrimination if people saw this out of Christianity. Yes, the cricket hums sound like angelic voices from a chapel. Good observation. But to call it a, "Christian scam"? Shame on you. - Lauren Zacary https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAXQ..."

If it's about watching and moving, then it's definitely about listening.
"Northern Light Aurora Sound
The Aurora Borealis is created by the solar wind hitting the earth's atmosphere. The charged particles of the solar wind are normally deflected away by the shield of Earth's magnetic field, but some are able to leak into the magnetosphere around the earth, where they are then guided along Earth's magnetic field to reach deeper into the atmosphere. Here they collide with the oxygen and nitrogen molecules of the air, to produce a luminous green and red glow that is the aurorae (Northern or Southern lights).
These moving charged particles that create the northern lights also produce intense radio emission at very low frequencies. We can 'hear' the aurorae as a busy chatter when these radio signals are converted to sound, varying on the real timescale that you can hear."
But I bet they "sound" nicer in reality:sun:

Sharing some beautiful autumn weather!
This "moment" runs for almost 4 1/2 hours ;) But it's lovely quiet music set to beautiful flowing stream in an autumn-colored forest. Perfect for a "contemplative moment" however long you'd like to make it. :flower:

Flow of time, a gift to all
Peace in turmoil.
The language of nature.
Preserved culture is a living painting.
We are a continuous bridge to the future.
The flow of time, heals wounds.
The spirit of water.
Only love can create peace.

Absolutely beautiful!!! I don't know which is more moving. . . .the picture or the narration. I was mesmerized by both. . . that's not enough to describe how I felt after watching.
I feel the same.

Look at the clouds
Start by opening your eyes and be surprised by that Sea of Clouds which is constantly open for us for pure joy.
Against any weather system, there are still beautiful clouds up there, coming and going.
Always watch their formation, and don't waste a second without looking at them, because that cloud shape will never be the same again.

Dragontail butterflies have a unique flying style because their wings are actually quite small relative to their body size. It means they have to flap their wings super-fast like a dragonfly and use their tails like rudders, to me they are hypnotically beautiful.

There are pivotal moments, tipping points when we are standing on a precipice. It is as our eyes suddenly open to seeing everything with clarity. It is in that moment that we awaken - that we 'wake up' to our life and what actions we have been engaging in that are not serving our deepest desires - and our highest good.
Being able to witness the truth - to have clear knowing of it means that we can no longer live in darkness - or the absence of truth. We cannot pretend that we do not know what we know.
"To awaken you must have the desire in your heart for change, for answers - for understanding." - dorothy ratusny
One of my favourite 'spoken word' contemplative meditations... please join me in this journey of awakening.

The sea
Charles Tenet
The sea
The sea
That we see dancing along the clear gulfs
With reflections of silver
The sea
Changing reflections
Under the rain
The sea
In the summer sky merges
His white sheep
With angels so pure
The azure shepherd sea
Infinite
See
Near the ponds
These big wet reeds
See
These white birds
And these rusty houses
The sea
Rocked them
Along the clear gulfs
And a love song
The sea
Rocked my heart for life

Taylor Bertolini grew up primarily finding notes filled with love and compassion in her lunchbox. She learned that a few words of encouragement could not only change her life, but the lives of others. That idea followed her to college where she started an organization on the NSU campus called Campus Cursive. When you harness the power of a kind word, you have the power to change lives. Taylor Bertolini is an NSU Junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Public Health with a certificate in leadership. Taylor has founded and become the fearless leader of Campus Cursive at NSU. Campus Cursive is an affiliate of More Love Letters, a global organization using the power behind social media to write and mail letters to strangers in need all around the world. She grew up Tamarac, FL raised by her devoted mother, who left love notes in lunch boxes and medicine cabinets, among other places; this is the origin from which Taylor believes her love for personalized notes stems. She strongly believes in the philosophy that all the little things in our lives add up, come together, and become something much bigger than ourselves. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Flying over the mountains of Romania, it reminds me that our world is so beautiful, Nature is at home all over the world and we are still here.
I am invaded by the fresh air and the sky, the fog, the clouds, the trees, the peaks come together and my soul trembles.
A fantastic sunrise in the eternal Romanian spirit floating above the mountains, waiting for nothing but the Beauty of Mother Nature.

Just the silence and the sound of snowflakes in my garden, which I enjoyed and share here.
It is not cold at all and some birds are occasionally heard, every year more and more birds remain to spend the winter here, a few years ago, all the birds migrated to warm countries, now I enjoy their presence in winter, and I feed them as much as possible (plant seeds and bread crumbs):flower:

Jellyfish Lake is a marine lake located on Eil Malk island in Palau. Eil Malk is part of the Rock Islands, a group of small, rocky, mostly uninhabited islands in Palau's Southern Lagoon, between Koror and Peleliu. There are about 70 other marine lakes located throughout the Rock Islands.

After a winter that felt like an eternity, we finally feel the spring in the air.
Some kind of energy is waking up again, not only in nature, but also in myself. We have a wonderful time ahead of us.
In this video I share glimpses of my life right now and what we've been up to. Tapping some birch sap, making a spring fire, taking ice baths, watching the last of the nightsky before the light return, and lots of more. I also answer some questions from my previous video in the end!

I was going to put this on the art thread but the picture and the final words from Akiane seem to have a place on this thread.
These days seem dark, however, I'm convinced that the light will always shine through and that those who maybe lost, for whatever reason, will be found again.

"FREEDOM" by Akiane
"I have recently finished painting a large volume of artwork imbued with spontaneity, multiplicity and spiritual actualization.
I have not followed any particular rules, styles, movements or forms.
Many paintings have been purposefully left unrefined as fresh glimpses of my focused attention or visionary endeavors."

Extremely contemplative for me, without any words, only the sound of nature, even the hammer and the saw sounds good, throughout the entire documentary, I can choose any moment and it is ultimately contemplative.:happy dog:
When there is nothing left in the world except humans, animals and nature, they all work well together. However, the last two minutes complete everything.
Two Years Alone in the Wilderness | Escape the City to Build Off Grid Log Cabin(1:31)
One man leaves the city life behind to build a cheap off grid log cabin and homestead in the Canadian wilderness, including a log home, an outdoor kitchen, an outhouse, a woodshed and a sauna bathhouse. Building mostly with hand tools, Shawn James harvests building materials from the forests north of Toronto, Canada and crafts them into functional tools and shelters using traditional woodworking tools and methods. He practices bushcraft and survival skills every day, including fire starting, tree identification and harvesting, wild edible foraging, fishing, hunting, camping in the summer and winter, travelling by canoe and snowshoe, navigation and water collection and purification.
