Truth is often ugly, unpleasant and problematic.
Instead of cowering in political correctness and resorting to personal attacks, such matters must be discussed openly. (That's my opinion, but if other people think differently, so be it)

Yes. But the way it's presented doesn't have to be.

Correct.
It is possible to beat around the bush, or come straight to the point.
Either way, the result is the same. But the former approach is not prettier, if you ask me.
The issue in question will have to be faced sooner or later by all humans, if not on this platform.
I thank @Iloveyou for raising the issue, albeit inadvertently.

Or perhaps the truth is sometimes Beautiful, Elegant, Simple, Breath-taking, Free-ing, Encouraging, Liberating, Stupendous, Unfathomable, Deep, Beyond Words, Beyond Logic eh ?

But ultimately I suppose it depends upon (at the very least) the Context of the discussion at hand ... speaking of which, do you have a Context in mind for this thread Didgevillage ?

Some people say truth sets you free.
To be honest, I haven't fully understood its meaning, but if it is true, those people who keep their eyes closed will never be free.
I don't pretend to be a psychic but I can see the difference between free persons and bonded persons.

Oh stop your whining.

And truth, like all things in life, is what you perceive it to be.

Correct.
That's my truth and I'm sticking to it.
There's nothing to whine about.

You have shared some of your “truth” on this forum and, for me, many of your beliefs are indeed ugly, unpleasant and problematic.

The interesting part is why you choose to believe that your “truths” are indeed true.

It is called fraud if you choose to believe in falsehood, knowing it is false.

It probably has a lot to do with your upbringing, education and ancestral religion, a burden it is difficult to grow out of.

Oh stop your whining.

By the way, I didn't "create" this thread. I commented on a Sticky about how to report verbal abuse or something like that (which magically appeared on my home page). Bill commented and I responded, and lo and behold, there's this thread. I take it it's philosophical enough to constitute a thread.

And truth, like all things in life, is what you perceive it to be.

It is a sad world you live in, if truth is nothing more that your perception.

This confusion I can understand, my bad. I'm assuming there is only 1 actual truth/reality/whatever you call it, but what determines it as good or bad is up to the individual.

I'm with you.
I'm more like a Taoist. As Lao-tzu said, Tao is very blurred.

I withhold judgement as to something is good or bad, because everything has a purpose, in the long run.

Okay, here's the history. It also illustrates my point above about it being fine to express a subjective truth, but it's the way one does it that matters.

Truth is often ugly, unpleasant and problematic.

Yes. But the way it's presented doesn't have to be.

Or, at least: one can say what one wants in as foul as way as one wishes, but pragmatically one will earn few friends and one's audience is unlikely to pay any attention to one's arguments.

Simply put — and parents, teach your children well: it makes sense to be nice. :)

People are more likely to pay attention to you. It sucks to be intelligent and unpleasant. Few will listen, and then, feeling ignored or sidelined, one may just become more and more resentful and hostile. It's a vicious circle.

Here's the PM I sent to Didgevillage on 23 April. He did not reply. (As it's my own PM text I can quote this, not violating any privacy. Similarly I can refer to Didgevillage's deleted post, as it was the mods who deleted that, and not himself.)

The red emphasis in the post below is mine.

[real name], Hi there: I've deleted this 11 April post of yours on the G (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?106598&p=1285816#post1285816)lobal Warming, Global Cooling or.. ?? (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?106598&p=1285816#post1285816) thread.

There can only be global cooling, because all libtards say there's global warming.
That's my logic and I'm sticking to it.

Animals are dying because of the heavy chemtrails and resultant chemicals, even over Russia (including vast no man's land of Siberia)

Warmer temperature is conducive to life, on the land and in the sea. Remember the Jurassic?
CO2 is life-giving, according to late Professor Robert Carter. He must be right, because wikipedia calls him a denier.

Most members here will fully agree about the widespread global warming belief (or agenda!) — but look, you can't use the word 'libtards'. Or, if you do, some good people will definitely become upset.

Not all liberals are the same. You're playing fast and loose with language here. If you want to be heard and respected, be accurate and precise with what you write.

The forum is about far more than an opportunity for members to vent and express themselves, maybe insulting others in the process! (If you want to do that, go to YouTube, Facebook or Twitter. :) ) We're all trying to EDUCATE people here.

You see, getting your audience upset just isn't very smart. My point here is a simple one: if you want to make a point hoping that others who don't have quite the same view may consider it and appreciate it, don't insult them!

Besides making yourself look like someone who's unpleasant (and there's a danger you may do this, because many of your posts make you seem uncompromising and intolerant) — it's simply counterproductive.

My best wishes ~ Bill

I didn't know you expected me to reply. I said what I said, and I had nothing more to say.

Points well taken.

That's a noble endeavor. As it is said, noblesse oblige, and you have to be ready to take crap and flak if you want to educate people, because you and I know it's a swim against the current.
