Felt very very strongly in Guayaquil, Ecuador were I live. I thought the building I live was going to fall down. It moved like a hammock. All the windows made noises. I live in the 4 th floor. Just walked around the apt while It was Happening.

Update : upgraded to a 8.0 quake on the Ritcher Scale.

I just mapped it and Guayaquil is 450km away from the epicenter. Lima is over 700km away and many people were running out of their homes there. I hope every one is okay.

And it's 235km from Vilcabamba! Bill, you must have gotten quite a jolt!

Ha! Maybe I did, but it happened at 2.50 am here and (super-tired here) I slept right through it. Rosemarie in Guayaquil, the same distance away from the quake and who had quite a scare, couldn't quite believe that. :)
