I think that people are harmed by pursuit of profit. Intent may not be the most important consideration here, for you, but it is for me as it makes it easier for me, as an empath, (I think?) to get inside their minds. There was no agenda to create a nation of oxycontin addicts in order to reduce the population, or harm it somehow, there was only big Pharma's pursuit of profit...for example.

Its really easy for me to slip into the mental sphere of Greta and those around her, the profiteering press. But conspiracy? I don't buy it. Seems to me the odds that anyone in a 100 year lifetime happens to be alive when a actual extinction event occurs is extremely low (discounting reincarnation). Could it happen in this lifetime of someone say, 20 years old today? Yes. It could happen.

So what can I do about it? Can't think of a single thing I can do to stop it if its going to happen in my lifetime. But what I can do is that which I might conceive might be wise with regards to the "karma" I might be facing at the level of my soul and thus, that may impact future incarnations (be there such... I bet that there IS such).

When we think about reincarnation, if we reincarnate in futures (or pasts) and we do so hundreds, maybe thousands of times... the odds are raised significantly.

Little to do with climate change, and certainly not 'man-made climate change', which is negligible (if it's anything at all).

But the destruction of habitats, pollution of every kind, and psychopathically destructive over-fishing are all man-made, for sure. 'Extinction' isn't a one-off overnight incident, like an asteroid impact. It might happen over a period of several decades, or a century... but that's just the briefest finger-click moment in geological time.

And of course, a 'mass extinction' is just a statistical categorization. We're not talking about the end of life on earth. Just a huge spike in the number of species becoming extinct over a certain period.

As best I know, this really is happening right now. But the human lifespan is also so brief that we're just not consciously day-by-day aware of the frog-in-the-pot crisis out there in the natural world.

But climate change is not man-made. It's part of a natural cycle. CO2 emissions make a really trivial difference: in fact, practically none.

Many species really are becoming extinct. The extinction numbers are spiking. A 'mass extinction' is an emotive term, but (depending on his it's defined) something like this really is happening currently.



Some issues that Greta Thunberg has spotlighted (plastic waste in oceans, devastated insect populations, etc) are very real, and important. Others (carbon emissions) are the lie that she's been sold, and has bought.



She's sincere, for sure, but has long ago become an asset of agenda-driven lobbyists, whether she knows it or not.



As yet, no intelligent, well-informed public discussion of ANY of this has been possible. That alone is a tragedy, because some of the right action, and soon, really could make a difference.



At least Greta is provoking people to talk about all this. But very few are talking about it (yet) with enough awareness.

Human activity is unconnected.

Arthur Neumann (Camelot's 'Henry Deacon') never mentioned global cooling (or global warming!). But he was adamant that the secret space program was really important, as "the future of the human race might depend on it someday".

And he did inform me of a classified think tank meeting back in the late 90s about the great dangers of methane being released in very large quantities from the arctic. The issue was being treated very seriously back then, at a secret, hush-hush level. That alone was interesting.

I think the first thing that people need to know about Thunberg is who the people are who are behind her and have created the platform on which she stands, such as Al Gore. "She’s one of the most controversial personalities in public life of the last twelve months, Greta Thunberg. After hearing all the opinions about the 16-year-old girl, we wanted to know: Who is actually behind the climate activist?

Basically, there’s a debate raging as to whether or not Greta Thunberg is just a PR puppet. Her intentions and sincerity are in question. The closest allies of the influential child are her parents. Her mother, Malena Ernman, is an opera singer and author. Her father, Svante Thunberg, is a talent agent and managing director of the media company Ermahn Produktion AB. Neither one is a stranger to Swedish media, and both are well-connected. They manage their daughter’s media contact to the outside world.

Young Greta is also supervised by a third adult, the PR and financial expert Ingmar Rentzhog. As the story goes, Rentzhog, discovered Thunberg by chance on August 20th in 2018 in front of the Swedish parliament. Three days after the viral discovery of the climate-concerned child, the autobiographical work “Our House is On Fire — Scenes of a Family and a Planet in Crisis”, in which Greta plays a key role, was published as a book on August 23rd 2018.

Opponents see it as calculated PR. Advocates, on the other hand, see this as pure coincidence. Chance or not, everything since can be described as a pragmatically-planned PR campaign. The businessman who discovered Greta also founded the social media platform “We Don’t Have Time” in April 2018, with the aim of convincing as many as possible to become active, because the climate has to be saved as soon as possible.

Among the investors in “We Don’t Have Time” is Gustav Stenbeck, whose family owns one of Sweden’s largest venture capital companies. Prior to his time as an environmental lobbyist, for 13 years Greta’s PR mentor headed the Laika Consulting agency, which focuses on financial communications. He also trained with the Climate Reality Project.

This is led by former US Vice President and environmentalist Al Gore. Furthermore, Rentzhog has been Chairman of the Swedish think tank Global Utmaning (Global Challenge) since May 2018. However, that’s not the end of the financing. Ingmar Rentzho has close connections to the prestigious and internationally active sustainability NGO, the Club of Rome. Since the 1970s this club has been publishing strategies for climate protection, but also investment alternatives for rich investors towards a green sustainable turnaround. The German SPD politician and environmental scientist Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker, for example, was co-president of the club of Rome until 2018.

Only two months after the discovery of Greta in November 2018, there was a joint conference of the Club of Rome and Rentzhog’s “We Don’t Have Time”. This conference emphasized that the extreme urgency required a paradigm shift. “I believe that after two degrees of warming we should be guided by ethics rather than economics.”

Greta Thunberg has inspired other investment leaders in the West to be market-oriented and innovative, and to take full advantage of the green economic change we are striving for. Trevor Neilson is one of those investors, and also made a name for himself as a philanthropist. He told the British “Guardian” in July of 2019 that his recently launched initiative, the Climate Emergency Fund, was explicitly inspired by Greta Thunberg.

In the past, the business magnate and owner of the Virgin group, Richard Branson, and Microsoft founder Bill Gates were among his most powerful clients. For his “Climate Emergency Fund” he was able to engage the heiress Aileen Getty of the famous Getty Petroleum Empire. She is the granddaughter of the world’s richest man, of his lifetime, J. Paul Getty, who died in 1970. Trevor Neilson was also able to win over a descendant of the influential US American Kennedy dynasty, Rory Kennedy for his lobbying undertaking. His initiative makes the following statement: “We believe that only a peaceful planet-wide mobilization on the scale of World War II will give us a chance to avoid the worst-case scenarios and restore a safe climate.”

Over €500,000 ($551,000) has already been invested in climate protection movements such as the presumed grassroots movement “Extinction Rebellion”. One hundred times that, half a billion euros, has already been donated by patrons until the end of this year. Large private capital flows will be unleashed to provide the youthful grassroots movement in the Western world with powerful resources to put pressure on their governments.

The hope is then that the richest people in the world, who happen to have been the most climate-damaging, will lose on their investment. What it really comes down to is asking the very same people to save the climate who have deliberately destroyed it over many decades by their way of doing business. They aren’t driven primarily by moral imperatives, but once again by economic profit. These young people are being tempted to join a movement without knowing what powerful interests are behind it. Among all these machinations and networks and all the personal hostility and praise, Greta Thunberg is just one of many young people whose backs are used to carry out the new pragmatic policy of the elite."

In the matter of a few months, Greta Thunberg went from a lone girl protesting in front of the Swedish parliament to an international phenomenon. Although mass media is making it seem as if this meteoric rise to prominence happened organically, this is simply not true.

Behind Greta is a major machine, one that is controlled by major international actors and backed by major funds. This PR machine has allowed Greta to make the covers of magazines, become the subject of thousands of news articles while being photographed with world leaders and giving speeches at elite organizations such as the United Nations.

Although Greta might very well be genuinely concerned with the fate of the planet, her message is carefully crafted by those who control her to generate a specific response from the youth. In short, Greta is the face of a major marketing scheme – a tightly coordinated international effort to sell global warming through a specific lens: Fear, panic, and urgency.

Before going further, I need to point out that I am neither a “climate denier” nor a “climate activist”. That is not my field of expertise. I never analyzed any data regarding climate change and its correlation with human activity. I am far from qualified from speaking about this issue so I won’t.

My field of expertise is mass media and its relation to power. In the “Read This First (https://vigilantcitizen.com/vigilantreport/mind-control-theories-and-techniques-used-by-mass-media/)” article of this site, I explained (using quotes from the founders of the field of Communications such as Edward Bernays) how mass media is used to shape and mold opinions. The rise of Greta to international prominence is a clear-cut case of “agenda-setting” which is defined as follows:
Agenda-setting is the creation of public awareness and concern of salient issues by the news media. As well, agenda-setting describes the way that media attempts to influence viewers, and establish a hierarchy of news prevalence. Two basic assumptions underlie most researches on agenda-setting:

the press and the media do not reflect reality; they filter and shape it;
media concentration on a few issues and subjects leads the public to perceive those issues as more important than other issues.

In fact, her entire movement is undeniable proof of the extreme reach and power of mass media in the world today which is able to create massive movements out of nothing.

Mass media programming is particularly effective on those who did not develop an acute sense of critical thinking – notably young people. And the Greta phenomenon was custom-made to cater to this very specific demographic.

On the very same day of the first strike, a picture of Greta was published on the Facebook page of We Don’t Have Time, a “social network for climate change”. The page is managed by Ingmar Rentzhog – a specialist in financial marketing.

Rentzhog is also a chairman of the Global Utmaning Board, a think tank that “promotes sustainable development within social, economic and environmental dimensions”. The Global Utmaning Board was founded by the Swedish politician and economist Kristina Persson, who is the daughter of the billionaire politician and entrepreneur Sven O. Persson.

Backed by this machine, Greta’s story garnered intense and immediate media attention in Sweden and, soon after, around the world. After a few months of weekly strikes, Greta took a year off from school to focus solely on climate change and began a tour of European cities.

During these events, a woman was often spotted “advising” Greta: Luisa-Marie Neubauer.

On the Associated Press’ “fact-checking” site, an article with the bizarre title Climate activist Greta Thunberg does not have ‘handler’ (https://www.apnews.com/afs:Content:7740750778) asserts that Luisa-Marie Neubauer does not serve as Greta’s “handler”. It nevertheless admits that Neubauer is linked with this powerful Soros-funded group.
According to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation website, “One originated in conversations between Bill Gates and Bono in the early 2000s about the need to better inform Americans about extreme poverty around the world.” The One Campaign has ties to Soros, founder and chairman of Open Society Foundations, which works to build democracies.
Brooke Havlik, a communications officer with Open Society Foundations, told the AP that the organization has given $10 million to the One Campaign since 2011.

Greta is the face of a massive push across mass media and the education system to convince children that their “house in on fire”. Since children absorb the information that is given to them without any kind of questioning, this push has created a new worrying phenomenon: Eco-anxiety.

Instead of enjoying their childhood, children are growing up with a sense of dread and impending doom. Researchers are already linking environmental concerns with cases of anxiety, depression and even suicide. Greta herself communicated this feeling during her speech at the U.N.:

It has to be possible that I'm wrong, though I doubt that I am. Another rule of effective speaking: don’t contradict yourself, especially within a single sentence. If the “politics and solutions needed are still nowhere in sight,” what exactly are you expecting these UN diplomats to do, beyond what they’re already doing? If the solutions are truly nowhere in sight, you’re certainly not going to get them from this crowd.
“You say you hear us and that you understand the urgency but no matter how sad and angry I am, I do not want to believe that because if you really understood the situation and still kept on failing to act then you would be evil and that I refuse to believe.”
Greta, on this one, best go with “evil.” Again, you’re addressing the core members of the United Nations, arguably the most worthless organization on the planet today. Even if they did believe something was an urgent problem, they’d not have the collective will to do anything about it.

Actually, a better description than evil in this case would be “utterly f…..g worthless.” Remember, these are the very folks who commissioned the IPCC itself, and told it to make reports…every six years. You’d think if the world was about to end, reports of it happening could be slightly more frequent.
“The popular idea of cutting our emissions in half in 10 years only gives us a 50% chance of staying below 1.5 degrees and the risk of setting off irreversible chain reactions beyond human control. 50% may be acceptable to you but those numbers do not include tipping points, most feedback loops, additional warming hidden by toxic air pollution, or the aspects of equity and climate justice, they also rely on my generation sucking hundreds of billions of tons of your CO2 out of the air with technologies that barely exist. Are you aware that you’re quoting alarmist predictions from the very scientists who’ve yet to be right about any of their predictions? Does that not concern you?

Well, ignoring that the sentence itself is gibberish, what exactly are you wanting anyone to do? You just told us that there are no solutions anywhere in sight. If you don’t have it, do you really think these diplomats sitting in front of you do?

Even the eyes of today’s generation aren’t on anything the UN General Assembly does—much less will be the eyes of all generations unto the end of time. But I’m sure the people you’re addressing right now wish they were that important.

Anyway, Greta, a word of advice. You’re clearly a very upset and angry young lady, with endless dedication to your goals. Rather than hurl hate-filled rhetoric at a room of old folks whom you rightly predict won’t do what you want them to do, why don’t you roll up your sleeves and try to make a difference yourself? Independent mainstream media outlets are engaging in a politically-motivated campaign to force YouTube to demonetize and hide any video that denies climate change.

Published on Avaaz’s website, the left-leaning non-profit group released a report on January 16 that claims YouTube is profiting by broadcasting misinformation to millions of people by giving climate denial videos too much prominence. The report is an undisguised intimidation campaign, as not only does it list major advertizers who are running ads on videos that question the legitimacy of the threat climate change poses for humanity, but it explicitly calls for them to put pressure on the platform as a means of putting an end to the so-called disinformation.

Despite the findings being published just yesterday, many mainstream sites had lengthy articles posted not long after that, which featured quotes from those who worked on the report. Timings which suggest select websites were given early access, making it clear what agenda is being pushed, more so as they all tout the same talking points. Vice, Time, Gizmodo, The Verge, and countless other news entities want YouTube to punish creators who don’t toe the “correct” ideological line. The objective is to demonetize, and thus censor, such individuals as they’ll be less inclined to work on content that they won’t be able to profit from.

Nell Greenburg, a campaign director at Avaaz, claims the report isn’t about removing content, but that contradicts the report’s own messaging. There is a clear attempt to have content hidden as the report calls into question the promotion of such videos in the “up next” box on the site. It’s semantics at this point, but hiding videos would hurt creators and dissuade them from even trying to share their thoughts. It is an indirect way of removing ‘wrongthink.’

YouTube has already called into question the methodology of the report, but, given the media and powerful activist groups are targeting advertisers such as Nintendo, Red Bull, Uber, and Warner Bros, it’s a safe assumption the platform giant will give into their demands if their bottom line ever becomes affected. We are less than one year removed from Vox Media’s war on Google and its subsequent “adpocalypse,” after all.

Samsung has already contacted the company to “resolve the current issue and prevent future repetition,” so a second adpocalypse is probably likely. Though, this time, the scale could change as residing in the crosshairs isn’t just independent creators, but Fox News and other right-leaning media, given that they, too, have content on YouTube that questions the validity of a changing climate.

That the MSM agrees with this says a whole lot, since many websites are in no position to push a platform into limiting content they deem as false, especially when considering the one-sided nature of their many blunders. If 2019 was any indication, they’re not exactly on top of stuff. From the reaction to the Covington school kids, to the countless Trump and Russia stories that went nowhere and fizzled, the most blatant purveyors of literal fake news are the mainstream media.

As for George Soros’ connection with Avaaz, while it claims to be predominantly member-funded now, its seed money was reportedly allocated by the billionaire’s opaque network of groups, and various prominent figures from his Open Society Foundation, such as former Democratic congressman Tom Periello, have been among its leadership. Leaked documents from 2010 detail that promoting climate change campaigns was always designated as a primary function of Avaaz.

This situation ultimately raises questions into why anyone, or anything, should have the power to dictate what others can create. Regardless of one’s personal views on the matter, there’s no denying that bold claims have been made about the climate that later were disproven. Little is, as yet, set in stone, and content that lands on any one side of the debate should be free to exist. If a creator is making videos people are watching, their hard work shouldn’t be thrown in the bin simply because an activist group with ties to one of the world’s richest people and his proxies says so. It is not the role of billionaires and their pet projects to play babysitter.

A year ago today Greta Thunberg appeared in public for the first time in Stockholm. Since then she has become a symbol of climate protection for many young people. But who is this girl? How has she become so popular and gain attention in such a short period of time? Watch two archive programs that take a closer look at Greta and her roots.

In August last year Greta Thunberg began demonstrating every Friday in Stockholm in front of the Swedish Parliament for climate protection. In a shorter period of time, Greta -- not least through her speech at the UN Climate Change Conference in Katowice (Poland) in December 2018 -- has developed into a dazzling heroine for countless young people and was recently even nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. With statements like: "I don't want your hope. I want you to panic, I want you to feel the fear I feel every day," the young Swedish woman has stirred up highly emotional debates halfway around the world.

How was it possible for Greta Thunberg to become one of the most prominent climate protection activists of our time? The Swiss magazine "Weltwoche" may have an answer to this question. In its fourth issue this year, it published an article entitled, "Wir basteln uns eine Klima-Ikone" ("We are making a climate icon for ourselves"). Here are a few excerpts:
"Greta Thunberg became internationally known when she started a "school strike for climate" last August in front of the Swedish seat of government. The photo of a pale girl sitting on the floor with a handwritten sign next to her went around the world in an instant. In just a few months, Greta Thunberg has made a name for herself as a poster girl for climate protection. She has initiated a worldwide movement of young people calling for a school strike for climate protection. It is little known that this movement is the result of a well-organised PR campaign. Behind it, alongside the climate protection company We Don't Have Time, are activists from Extinction Rebellion, an international, radical environmental protection movement.

A critical look should not be taken at Greta, but at the forces in her background. Is it really acceptable to use a teenager (who also has the Asperger syndrome, a variant of autism) as a driving force to collect donations and spread left-wing messages? [...] The general public celebrates "Climate-Greta" as a climate protection expert. However, research by critical media has shown that her success is largely due to the Swedish PR expert Ingmar Rentzhog, who has good contacts to several propaganda organisations. However, a look behind the scenes also shows that Greta Thunberg is by no means the "ordinary pupil from next door" as she is presented to the public.

Rather, the politically left-green active Thunbergs are well known in Sweden. Greta is managed by her father, Svante Thunberg, a Swedish actor, producer, author and businessman. Greta's grandfather was also a well-known actor and dubbing artist. Svante Thunberg is also the manager of his wife Malena Ernman, an opera singer not unknown in Sweden, who had previously aspired to a career as a pop star and had hoped for a breakthrough to international fame with her participation in the "European Song Contest" in 2009. This was now awarded to her as "Greta's Mother". It is interesting to note that Greta's mother is a fanatical climate activist who also actively supports immigration and asylum seekers.

The Swedish Nobel Prize winner Svante Arrhenius is an ancestor of the allegedly "ordinary schoolgirl" Greta Thunberg. In 1903 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in the chemistry category. Arrhenius is considered a co-founder of the Nobel Foundation and, as its director, had a decisive influence on the awarding of the prize. As early as 1896 Arrhenius was working on a theory to explain ice ages and the influence of CO2 on global warming, which seems to close the circle on Greta Thunberg's fear of climate change. And also her nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Greta has developed into a good source of money, also for her parents: the share prices of the two companies "Ernman Produktion AB" and "Northern Grace AB", of which Greta's father is the managing director, have interestingly shot up since Greta's activities.

What's also going well is Greta's mother's book entitled "Scener ur hjärtat" ("Scenes from the Heart"). It was presented exactly four days after Greta started her climate strike. This book, now a bestseller, describes Greta and her activities. It also describes that Greta, like her sister, suffers from the Asperger syndrome, a weak form of autism. Asperger patients suffer from a developmental disorder and tend to classify things only in black or white. There are no grey areas.

So, it is not surprising that Greta is driven by fear and panic.

Although this may drive many young people into action, panic has never been a good guide. So, Greta is virtually made for her intended role and it is almost obvious that Greta is being instrumentalized to push forward or enforce climate protection. In view of all of these backgrounds, who may still believe that an unknown little schoolgirl has come to such fame entirely by chance?

To begin with, there are some ideas that pretty much all scientists accept. For instance that birds are descended from dinosaurs, though that idea was once dismissed as highly eccentric. And when it comes to climate, you don’t need a poll to tell you that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, meaning it likely has some overall warming effect. That’s been known since the mid-1800s. And if you did do a survey, you would find overwhelming scientific agreement on that point.

Also, there are lots of indications that the world is somewhat warmer now than it was in the mid-1800s, the end of a natural cooling period called the Little Ice Age.
Finally, virtually nobody disputes that humans have changed the environment of our planet, by releasing emissions into the air, changing the land surface, putting things in the water, and so forth.

These aren’t controversial ideas, and they’re accepted even by most climate skeptics. What we don’t accept is that any of them prove that humans are the only cause of global warming, or that climate change is a dangerous threat.

If 97% of scientists believed that, it would be troubling. Though even so, we’d still have to find some plan whose benefits outweighed its costs. In any event, that level of consensus that the problem was manmade and urgent would certainly be noteworthy. But the thing is, they don’t agree on that.

A close look at what survey data we have, and there isn’t much, tells us, yes, there is a great deal of agreement that CO2 is a greenhouse gas to some degree, that the Earth has warmed in the last 160 years, and that humans affect their surroundings. But that survey data also tell us there’s far less agreement on everything else including whether we face a crisis.
So where did this 97% claim come from and why is it so widely repeated?

Narrator:
The 97% claim seems to have begun with a historian of science named Naomi Oreskes who, in 2004, claimed she’d looked at 928 articles about climate change in scientific journals, that 75% of them endorsed the “consensus view” that “Earth’s climate is being affected by human activities” and that none directly disputed it.

By 2006, in Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, this finding had somehow morphed into “a massive study of every scientific article in a peer-reviewed journal written on global warming for the last 10 years and they took a big sample of 10%, 928 articles, and you know the number of those that disagreed with the scientific consensus that we’re causing global warming and that it’s a serious problem? Out of the 928, zero.”

John:
That was a fib. Gore took a study that found 75% endorsed the idea that humans have some effect on climate and turned it into proof that 100% of scientists believe it’s a serious problem. It does no such thing.

Narrator:
And nor do the handful of other surveys on the subject. For instance five years later, in 2009, a pair of researchers at the University of Illinois sent an online survey to over 10,000 Earth scientists asking two simple questions (https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1029/2009EO030002): Do you agree that global temperatures have generally risen since the pre-1800s? and Do you think that human activity is a significant contributing factor? [Note: They asked some other questions too, but didn’t report the questions or results in the publication.]

John:
They didn’t single out greenhouse gases, they didn’t explain what the term “significant” meant and they didn't refer to danger or crisis. So what was the result?

Narrator:
Of the 3,146 responses they received, 90 percent said yes to the first question, that global temperatures had risen since the Little Ice Age, and only 82 percent said yes to the second, that human activity was a significant contributing factor.

Interestingly, among meteorologists only 64 percent said yes to the second, meaning a third of the experts in the study of weather patterns who replied didn’t think humans play a significant role in global warming, let alone a dominant one.

What got the most media attention was that among the 77 respondents who described themselves as climate experts, 75 said yes to the second question. 75 out of 77 is 97%.

John:
OK, it didn’t get any media attention that they took 77 out of 3,146 responses. But that’s the key statistical trick. They found a 97 percent consensus among 2 percent of the survey respondents. And even so it was only that there’d been some warming since the 1800s, which virtually nobody denies, and that humans are partly responsible. These experts didn’t say it was dangerous or urgent, because they weren’t asked. [Note: or as noted above, if they were the results weren’t reported.]

So far the claim that 97% of “world scientists” are saying there’s a climate crisis is pure fiction. But wait, you say. There must be more. Yes, there is. But not much.

Narrator:
Another survey (https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/8/2/024024) appeared in 2013, by Australian researcher John Cook and his coauthors, in which they claimed to have examined about 12,000 scientific papers related to climate change, and found that 97% endorsed the consensus view that greenhouse gases were at least partly responsible for global warming. This study generated headlines around the world, and it was the one to which Obama’s tweet was referring.

John:
But here again, appearances were deceiving.

Two-thirds of the papers that Cook and his colleagues examined expressed no view at all on the consensus. Of the remaining 34%, the authors claimed that 33% endorsed the consensus. Divide 33 by 34 and you get 97%. But this result is essentially meaningless, because they set the bar so low.

The survey authors didn’t ask if climate change was dangerous or “manmade”. They only asked if a given paper accepted that humans have some effect on the climate, which as already noted is uncontroversial. It could mean as little as accepting the “urban heat island” effect.

So a far better question would be: How many of the studies claimed that humans have caused most of the observed global warming? And oddly, we do know. Because buried in the authors’ data was the answer: A mere 64 out of nearly 12,000 papers! That’s not 97%, it’s one half of one percent. It’s one in 200.

And it gets worse. In a follow-up study (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11191-013-9647-9), climatologist David Legates read those 64 papers and found that a third of them didn’t even say what Cook and his team claimed. Only 41 actually endorsed the view that global warming is mostly manmade. And we still haven’t got to it being “dangerous”. That part of the survey results was simply invented, by politicians and activists.

Other researchers have condemned the Cook study on other grounds too. For instance economist Richard Tol showed (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0301421514002821) that over three-quarters of the papers counted as endorsing even the weak consensus actually said nothing at all on the subject. And evidence later emerged (https://www.thegwpf.org/content/uploads/2014/09/Warming-consensus-and-it-critics1.pdf) that the authors of the paper were drafting press releases about their findings before they even started doing the research, which indicates an alarming level not of warming or of consensus but of bias.

The reality is that neither this study, nor a handful of others like it, prove that 97% of scientists believe climate change is mostly manmade, let alone that it’s a crisis. The fact that people who claim to put such stock in “settled science” accept such obvious statistical hocus pocus is both astounding and disappointing.

Narrator:
So what do climate experts really think? The year before Obama sent out his tweet, the American Meteorological Society (AMS) surveyed (http://www.ametsoc.org/boardpges/cwce/docs/BEC/CICCC/2012-02-AMS-Member-Survey-Preliminary-Findings.pdf) its 7,000 members. They got about 1,800 responses. Of those, only 52% said they think global warming over the 20th century has happened and is mostly manmade. The remaining 48% either think it happened but is mostly natural, or it didn’t happen, or they don’t know. And while it’s possible that the three-quarters who didn’t answer split the same way as those who did, it’s also possible that committed alarmists are more likely to answer such surveys. In any case, it’s a small sample, even of AMS members, let alone of the world’s scientists.

John:
There was one more survey (https://www.pbl.nl/en/publications/scientists-views-about-attribution-of-global-warming) a few years later by the Netherlands Environment Agency that claimed 66% of climate experts believed humans were mostly responsible for warming since 1950. Which falls far short of 97% even if it outperforms the other studies.

A social psychologist named Jose Duarte, who specializes in survey design, published an analysis of that one, pointing out that they diluted the sample by including large numbers of psychologists, philosophers, political scientists, and other non-experts, making their results meaningless as a measure of what scientists think. Just as you’ll find that the people who cite that 97% number are overwhelmingly not trained scientists, certainly not trained statisticians.

Narrator:
So we’re no farther ahead than when we began. Most experts agree on the basics, namely that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and probably causes some warming and that humans have some impact on climate probably including some warming. But they actively debate the rest: How much warming will there be? Is it a problem? Should we try to stop it, or adapt, or wait and see? These are all important questions and we need good answers.

John:
And there's the claim that many of the world’s national science academies, representing hundreds of thousands of scientists across the globe, have issued statements supporting the consensus about global warming and demanding government efforts to cut emissions. The problem is, not a single one (https://www.thegwpf.com/images/stories/gwpf-reports/montford-royal_society.pdf) of those societies took a survey of their members before issuing their statements in the name of their members. The statements were put out by a small number of activists using their committee positions to make it look as though their views are shared by all the world’s experts. But if they are, why didn’t these authors survey their members before publishing the statements?

There are a couple of other studies that claimed to prove a consensus. But they run into the same problems. All they show is wide agreement on the uncontroversial bits. They offer no information about whether a majority of scientists think global warming is a crisis. And then they’re spun wildly by non-scientists to tell us things they don’t begin to say, often about questions they didn’t even attempt to investigate.

The problem isn’t just that we don’t know what percentage of scientists agrees with this or that statement about global warming. It’s something much worse. All this talk of a 97% consensus amounts to a dishonest bullying campaign to stifle scientific debate just when we need it most because the question looms so large in public policy.
As physicist Richard Feynmann once said, “I would rather have questions that can't be answered than answers that can't be questioned.” And that’s especially true when we’re asked to take drastic action based on those answers.

Not long ago that survey expert I mentioned earlier, Jose Duarte, warned his fellow scientists (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/es504574v) about the negative consequences of claiming consensus. He said:
“It is ill advised to report a consensus as though it is an aggregation of independent judgments. Humans are an ultrasocial species, and dissent is far costlier than assent to a perceived majority… A scientist who contests the prevailing narrative on human-caused warming, or merely produces smaller estimates, will likely end up on a McCarthyite blacklist of ‘deniers’. Self-described mainstream climate scientists refer the public to such lists, implicitly endorsing the smearing of their colleagues. This is disturbing, and unheard of in other sciences.”

The unfortunate truth is that there is strong political pressure for climate experts not to question claims of impending doom. Those who do so face steep personal and professional costs, including a barrage of abuse that can be highly unpleasant for people who mostly wanted to devote their lives to the quiet pursuit of knowledge not to noisy polemics. And that means we should listen carefully to them when they feel compelled to speak out anyway.

Whether they represent 50%, or 10%, or 3% of experts, what matters is the evidence they bring and the quality of their arguments.

And on that, I would hope we have 100 percent agreement.

Greta Thunberg Sailing Towards Public Criticism
Move over Tom Cruise, Scientology is no longer “the bomb”. Instead, we’ve a new religion in town. So grab your vegan dinner, and book your yachts, because this one has all the basic human traits that make religions successful.

Professor of Psychology, Steven Reiss, over at the Ohio State University, who is the author of The 16 Strivings for God, found that there are 16 basic human desires that all “successful” religions manage to satiate. It is these basic desires that attract followers.

Acceptance, curiosity, eating, family, honor, idealism, independence, order, physical activity, power, romance, saving, social contact, status, tranquility and vengeance.

Religion, says Reiss, attracts followers because it satisfies all of the 16 basic desires that humans share.

Something for everyone
Each of the 16 desires motivates people’s personality opposites. For example, some folks like social interaction and are extroverts. Others are introverts and like to get away from people.

Outside of religion, this is why pubs exist…for those who want to engage…and it’s why “retreats” exist. In religion, it’s why Churches and Mosques, for example, exist, and it’s also why religion of all stripes offer festivals. For those wanting solitude, religion preaches prayer and meditation. So it appeals to all.

You’ll find that there is a place for vengeance as well as tolerance in religious texts. So in this respect, it attracts peacemakers (turn the other cheek) as well as those who want to wreak havoc (the wrath of God, Jihad, etc.).

Seeking Satiation
Now, the interesting thing is that religious following in the west has been on the decline for decades now, though the need to satiate these 16 basic human desires that religions fulfill has not. And so when those human desires aren’t met, folks go in search of them elsewhere. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that we find religious-like followings for a host of things, such as gender, race, identity and yes, climate change. It is also no surprise that these new “religions” are almost entirely a western phenomenon. Strange, heh?

Something else that is consistent with religions, no matter which one we care to look at, is that they require faith over evidence. And when confronted with any attempt to discuss the validity of said religion, it is often met with vitriol and, in some places such as Saudi Barbaria, you’ll have your head chopped clean off for suggesting it may not be true.

Which brings me to the climate warriors.

We’ve heard a lot from them of late. These are folks, some clearly ardent believers, seeking truth and following “respectable” governments. Which in itself is a bit like looking for dietary advice from a fat person. Others…many others are stirred up into a religious fervor incapable of holding a conversation on the topic. Cultural Marxist’s parroting, with increasing hysteria, the notion we’re all going to die. Twelve years apparently…that’s what we’ve got. I’ll tell you what, though. Put them in charge and there will almost certainly be deaths within 12 years.

What’s interesting, but not actually surprising, is that there’s a healthy stack of research out of places like Japan, where the hysterical left have no foothold, that point towards cooling not warming. Imagine that. That these bodies of work don’t make it into western and, in particular, American universities is because none of this is about science. Bit by bit, Western Universities have been co-opted by the cultural Marxists, socialists, identity politics and the associated hairy armpit crowd together with their beardie male counterparts…though even stating that is actually now illegal in many places. You see, there aren’t just two genders. There are hundreds and we must address them accordingly no matter what it is they identify as. They’re not interested in truth…they just want to destroy western civilization, and THAT is a far greater threat to all of us than you or I sipping a drink through a plastic straw ever will be.

And they’ve found their messiah.


The Rise of The Greta Movement
That it requires the co-opting of a hormonal child with a history of psychological illness is ironically apt for this movement. Using a kid to be the mascot to this is child abuse. Pure and simple. Really it’s not her fault. When I was a kid I was terrified of all sorts of bogeymen that now seem ridiculous. That’s because they were. And that’s what a parent’s job is there for. To guide youth through the chaos of life’s decisions and understanding the world. The folks using her as a tool are committing child abuse of the most outrageous kind and should be made to live out their days wrapped in hemp, eating lettuce, and living in caves.

Now, here’s the thing with carbon fiber that the climate loonies won’t tell you and if you pointed it out…wouldn’t care (not about facts…remember). Carbon fiber takes approximately 14 times more energy to produce than steel. Duh, that’s why it costs so much. Oh, and it’s nearly impossible to recycle carbon fiber. Steel, on the other hand, is regularly and easily recycled. Stick a blowtorch on it and voila. But let’s not let those pesky little facts get in the way of some of the most egregious virtue-signaling we’ve ever seen.

Holding onto Blind Faith
How does this relate to religion? Well, consider how followers of any given faith often happily see their chosen idol, around which they heap praise, buy lear jets while they tithe to the cause.

And, you know what. The kids these days…the ones yelling at those white privileged males ….you know, the ones that built the central heating for them. Yeah, well, they’d rather sit inside with the central heating on and rant on social media. It’s ok, though, electricity just happens as do iPads and refrigerators, and ovens and and and. The materials aren’t, you know…mined and trucked and shipped. No – they just appear.

It’s not enough for these folks to enjoy their lettuce eating, bicycle riding ways. No, what they really want is to force everyone else to join them and party like it’s 1998 in Kosovo.

Governments on Climate Change
Now, if you really want to do something for the environment, we have history to prove EXACTLY what is required. Political interventionism and certainly socialism won’t protect your pet dog let alone the endangered brown spotted owl and most certainly not the globe’s environment. What it will do is create misallocation of capital, consolidate power and stifle innovation which has always and will always be the answer to man’s problems.

Take a look at the societies on this planet which have the most interventionist approaches. Societies where government power involves state-controlled or heavily-influenced corporates are always the biggest polluters. Always. The reasons are obvious as mud for anyone that cares to look past the hysterical rhetoric we’re subjected to. Government is coercive and hates competition.

Historical evidence and economic incentives show us that interventionism and socialism do the very opposite of protecting the environment, they only use it as a subterfuge to increase control of the economy while subsidizing polluters under the excuse of “employment” using the term “strategic sectors.”

It is worth noting that the spark that lit the yellow vest movement in France was a fuel tax hike, predicated upon a climate tax. In Holland, we have a mass protest by farmers. Why? Well, this kicked off a suggestion from coalition party D66 that Dutch livestock farming should be slashed to meet commitments on reducing nitrogen emissions. Now, climate nazis believe that cows are destroying the climate. On that logic, man has done wonders to the climates since we’ve nearly wiped out herds of every creature in every industrialised country. According to reports, the 17-year-old child with Asperger’s will take a seat alongside other Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) “experts” as part of an upcoming CNN panel on the pandemic that has been dubbed “Coronavirus Facts and Fears.”

Hosting the panel event are CNN broadcasters Sanjay Gupta and Anderson Cooper. And joining Greta on the panel are former Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, as well as former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Richard Besser.

Besides publicly claiming that she and her father contracted the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) simply because they got sick back in the winter, it remains unclear how else Greta might be qualified to provide any “expertise” on the pandemic. But this potential brush-up with the infection was apparently enough for CNN to dub her an expert on the subject.

“What place does Greta Thunberg have in this town hall?” asked Yashar Ali, a Twitter user with about 618,000 followers.

Many other Twitter users expressed similar sentiments, asking what CNN possibly could have been thinking when it made this decision. Not only is Greta not an expert on the climate, she is even more not an expert in anything related to the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19).

“Greta Thunberg? Now, she’s a COVID expert?” asked another. “@CNN is a joke!”

Amazingly, a blue check-mark on Twitter by the name of Roxane Gay spewed anti-male sexism in awarding Greta a digital certificate of expertise in the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) simply because the child was born with a vagina.

“Unqualified men appear on cable all day every day, bloviating endlessly, but Greta Thunberg is a bridge too far? Ok,” tweeted Gay, who proudly boasts about being an angry feminist and difficult woman.

“She’s (sic) has extraordinary knowledge and she is the next generation that is left to clean this mess we’ve made,” tweeted Patricia Arquette, who reads scripts for a living. “They wouldn’t have her there if she wasn’t a powerful voice.”

Throughout the lockdown, Greta and her handlers have been busy putting together a new program via the United Nations that claims to “help protect young lives against COVID-19.” UNICEF has already contributed about $100,000 to it through the Danish non-governmental organization (NGO) Human Act.

“Like the climate crisis, the coronavirus pandemic is a child-rights crisis,” Greta stated, also from a script.

“It will affect all children, now and in the long-term, but vulnerable groups will be impacted the most. I’m asking everyone to step up and join me in support of UNICEF’s vital work to save children’s lives, to protect health and continue education.”

Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg has turned her attention to the political arena, calling for the downfall of capitalism, which she claimed is responsible for climate change.

The 19-year-old climate campaigner launched her book – ‘The Climate Book’ – in London on Sunday night, telling the audience that the world is “never going back to normal again.” She argued that global warming can only be solved by a “system-wide transformation,” according to a write-up of the event by the Telegraph.

The capitalist system, Thunberg continued, is “defined by colonialism, imperialism, oppression and genocide by the so-called global North to accumulate wealth that still shapes our current world order.”

“If economic growth is our only priority, then what we are experiencing now should be exactly what we should be expecting,” she added, before calling the extraction of fossil fuels “racist.”

As some of Thunberg’s critics pointed out online, global living standards have broadly risen under capitalism, while carbon emissions have fallen in the capitalist USA since the turn of the millennium. Thunberg replied to these critics on Wednesday, stating that she is not advocating for a return to “socialism, liberalism, communism, conservatism, centrism, you name it,” which she said “have all failed.”

Thunberg, who has previously been criticized for failing to offer solutions to the problems she outlines, did not say what kind of system she would replace capitalism with.

Shooting to fame after she organized a series of school walk-outs in her native Sweden in 2018, Thunberg has since delivered her dramatic predictions of ecological armageddon to lawmakers across the Western world, to UN summits, and to the World Economic Forum’s yearly gatherings at Davos, Switzerland. WEF founder Klaus Schwab is also an advocate of radically restructuring the global order, a vision he calls “the Great Reset.”

Interesting interview. Obviously because of the avalanche of questions she reacted more often with giggle and laughter. (That's a quite usual social response in order to avoid revealing true data.) One can see that some of the reporter who asked a more "on her level" questions, got more through to her.
Certainly were the questions very spot on and pertaining when addressing adults but I reckon, it would have been more fruitful when the questions would have been formulated more on her level or if someone her age would have interviewed her. The insight was then that she is a child actor but that we concluded before.

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was accused of spreading anti-Semitic messages online after she voiced support for the Palestinians on X (formerly Twitter). She deleted her original post after taking flak on social media.

On Friday, Thunberg shared a photo of herself and three other women holding posters with pro-Palestinian slogans. “Today we strike in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza,” she wrote, calling for a ceasefire in the Middle East, as well as “justice and freedom for Palestinians and all civilians affected.”

However, some quickly spotted that one of the women had a small blue stuffed octopus perched on her knee and drew parallels with anti-Semitic cartoons depicting Jews as menacing octopuses with long and far-reaching tentacles. Such images have been used in Nazi Germany and elsewhere to promote myths and conspiracy theories surrounding the Jewish people and Judaism.
