View Full Version : Julia (HereToGrow) may lose her home

From another, unrelated, thread, we see that Julia/heretogrow (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/member.php?3155-heretogrow) may be losing her home. Maybe there is something we can do to help.
I tend to paint my own little world to keep optimistic and I don't know how well I will be received, but listen, what do we have left when they manipulate and take everything away. We have hearts and feelings, and compassion, and empathy and sparks of ideas that can kindle great movements. ...
Right now my family is at a crossroads. We have lost more than three-fourths of our income do to the largest plant closing in our area. We are at risk, real risk of losing our home, and it will be sad, because my man built it with his own two hands. But I will miss the land the most. The forest, the river, the garden, the trees that were planted. You might think I would be miserable and I can't say I won't be someday when it is all gone. I know we will find some place else to live. Until then I don't plan to just make due.
I have too many things to be grateful for. Even now when it seems like we are on the precipice of a downhill tumble, I try to give what we have away. I try to make a tiny difference in this world. I take my grandbaby outside and let him feel the rain instead of looking at the dark cloud overhead. I want to live and embrace this life without worrying about what is next. The only way I know how to do that is to count my blessings and look for the silver lining. I have to do this. The rest of my family is falling apart. I'll be damned if I will let us throw this good life away and live in misery.
...Julia:)
(emphasis mine)
Julia, I feel badly for waiting so long to start this thread. I know probably none of us have the thousands of dollars that you probably need, but maybe there are enough $20 bills floating around to help a little. Bricks can be made into a big cathedral; drops of rain form oceans.
Then there are also those who can emanate powerful energy, send healing and love, join a chorus praying/rooting for you.
How can we help?
Mike

I am honored by your offer to help but there is no way my man would take a cent to save this house. He is very proud. But your offer to help is appreciated deeply.
We have taken steps to ensure that we can pay for the house by him taking his retirement early. We are now in the process of trying to use that to pay down the mortgage to the point that we can refinance at a much lower rate. We are not out of the woods yet but there is a light at the end of the tunnel as we wade through all of this paperwork. I have learned from all of this that it is not the bricks and mortar of a home, even if it was built with your own hands, but the way you relate to nature and the land around you that makes you feel better. Spring is almost here and it will be time to get outside and plant our garden and relate to the land.
So many people around here have gone through this with the closing of the plant. There are rumors it may open this summer, not to manufacture paper, but to make boxes for Amazon. When we count our blessing we realized we are healthy and we are getting creative about ways to make ends meet. The shock has worn off, so now we are getting down to the nitty gritty and discovering ways to make this work.
If it doesn't work we tried. And we will keep trying no matter what the future brings. Unless life throws another monket wrench, it looks like we may be able to pull this off. We are learning as we go! We have our heads out of the sand and we are ready to roll up our sleeves. If worse comes to worse we have family in town that we can move in with. They would love to have us as they are elderly and slowing down. We always thought they would come here to live with us instead. But life is a bowl of cherries. So please
do not worry about us.
Much Much Love and Heartfelt Gratefulness,

I believe thoughts are things and they create the future. So if you want to help please just think of this ole hippy chick plucking away on the tractor and selling the surplus harvest at a roadside stand or something else wholesome.
Thanks!

Very pleased to hear that you have a game plan to save your house/land/garden/trees, to go along with your impressive attitude and outlook, Julia.
I'll keep sending love and positive thoughts, and visualizations of a bountiful harvest this year and a farm stand packed with smiling faces.
Love,
Dennis

You may be able to significantly benefit from a good refinance deal. If you need or want any help to scope out the most beneficial deal I'm sure someone here would be happy to help review options.

I like the hippy chick stuff. And they thought us hippies were flakes back in the sixties! You sure aren't a flake, Julia! Good luck with your endeavours.

Yes Julia, the hardest part would be leaving your land for it is this which defines us and gives us such a strong sense of self.
You'll pull through, I know you will.
With love,

Just found this today, and WOW is all I can say..
Between the loving outpour of offers of help? To the beautiful way in which you are embracing your journey. I tip my hat to you..
My hurdles came early in life.. And I am just now pulling out of those.. But it sure makes you really dig in and get creative doesn't it? I love the inspirational way that you are expressing your pride, your unwillingness to just let go, because of a situation that seems nearly impossible.. Instead you are facing it with grace and determination.. And all the while never forgetting what is truly important.. I wish I could give you a big hug right now... You're my kind of gal!
I do hope the next generations have the same fight and pride in them as you and "Your Man" do.. It's a beautiful thing.. And if anything else stands in your way, I do hope that you do let everyone know so that we can help.. But I doubt that you will ever allow anyone to take from you what you worked your whole life for.. You're one of those tough ones.. And I am smiling from ear to ear reading this thread. You go girl!
Hugs,
Denise

Write to that Billionaire running for Democratic Party as President. What you need to pull you out of a hole is probably his day's pocket change and you can make a deal to repay at a pace your body can tolerate.

Write to that Billionaire running for Democratic Party as President.
He's not running for Democratic Nomineeship anymore. He's now supporting Joe Biden. And the truth of the matter is that he never was in the run.
It's an age-old trick that both parties of the bipartisan hegemony regularly pull so as to secure votes that would otherwise not go to their designated candidate. Hillary Clinton also supposedly ran against Barack Obama in order to secure the votes that Obama himself couldn't gather, and then she conceded and supported Obama, so that the people who had pledged their vote to her would now be voting for Obama.
And that's just one example. But it's off-topic anyway.
What you need to pull you out of a hole is probably his day's pocket change and you can make a deal to repay at a pace your body can tolerate.
Billionaires don't get to be billionaires by being charitable. While it is true that the guy probably carries about as much small change in his pocket as what Julia needs for saving her home, he's not likely to ever come to anybody's rescue. A young student did the same thing a number of years ago with a letter to Bill Gates, and Gates declined, saying that if he helped one student, he'd have to help them all.
It is an exercise in futility to appeal unto the compassion and empathy of a large-scale predator like the oligarchs who rule this planet. :mmph:
