Followers from Iceland or Maine, USA

I'm looking for anyone who lives in Iceland or Portland Maine. I understand the people of Iceland took over their government. I would like to know if this is true, if so how they did it and how it is working out.

Portland Maine: I heard about a show on PBS where the residents of Portland have created their own bank and city coop where things are exchanged. Again would like to know how it was done and how it is working.

I believe if either of these experiments are successful, perhaps they are prototypes for the rest of our planet to begin to make some positive changes.

If I remember correctly Iceland allowed the sorry banks to fail.

Yes, I realize that, but I would really like to talk to someone in either of those places to see if things have really changed or if it's just the same with different faces in charge.
