Having just purchased a steak pie in a local butchers, I noticed a sign on the wall inside the shop.

"Minimum Meat Content of our pies is 17.5%"

I politely queried what made up the other 82.5% of the pie.

"I have no idea" the assistant replied.

"Can any of your colleagues tell me, please" I politely asked.

"Oh, you don't want to know" she said, laughed and returned to the back shop.

!?!??!?

Lol ... if there's no vegetables at all, It's probably flours, starches, yeasts, salt (fillers) and water ... with lots of starches to absorb and hold lots of water ... water and starches are dirt cheap. Then of course you have the crust ... so probably lots of pastry crust .. which is also flour and water and salt, etc.

My partner brought a Ginsters Pasty (Devon Cornish pasty - locally known here for their high rodent content:shocked:) and he was a good few minutes into it before he stumbled upon any actual 'meat'......:clapping:

I bought a meatball crusitini pastry the other day ... almost no meat whatsoever ... a couple tiny chunks that I guess you could call meatballs, lol.

You do realise that the production of these foods often contain spherical parts of the animal that we'd rather not think about.....;)

Yup ... probably something like chicken testicles or something (maybe I'm being too optimistic here) ... put enough cheese, "tomato sauce", and MSG on it ... viola! meatballs!
