Ultra Violet Light, in the C spectrum, kills illuminated viruses and bacteria in a few minutes some claim. Both in the air and surfaces.

Does anyone have any experience with UV-C stationary lights or wands? Without expensive laboratory equipment this may be a hard question to answer.

Intuitive answers are OK as long as they are not offered as science.

uv light has been used for many years to kill bacteria in water.Used to be that the bulb was to be changed each year for houshold water...bulb life may have changed.

It is my understanding that in some hospital their sanitation protocols include placing a light source (proper spectrum) in the room and leaving it for a set period of time. I friend of mine made a light box 6 weeks ago where his family puts their groceries into it for a period of time before they put them in the fridge. The light cost him about $100. He used a rubber made tub with a cover. The light is harmful to your eyes so he rigged it so that the electric circuit breaks if you lift the lid.

It’s being used massively now to disinfect airports as well. They’ve developed new types of UV light machines recently and since the Covid 19 pandemic outbreak,
all from helmets to corridors to money and phones disinfection boxes.

Tests show UVC lamps could light the way on fight with coronavirus (https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2020/05/10/world/science-health-world/uvc-lamps-coronavirus/#.Xtn2FCVX7YU)

They’re now testing “far UVC” of wavelength 222 nm in mice, 20 times the dose already approved for humans, successfully.

It’s certainly one of the best paths to disinfect anything.

It would solve so many problems if the technology is perfected and prevent other drastic measures taking place if we can all pass through that “light”.
