I think its wise to draw attention to Ronald Martins, who does a wonderful job of differentiating between black conservatives working FOR their community and those who are being paid to create smoke, mirrors and spectacle that further drag down those who have already been dragged down.

Thanks Fractal,
Roland Martins discusses the prison system, Trump's allowing private prisons back into the federal system, etc... It's a very important video as it describes issues that are very important to the black community. If you can find anything online from a black perspective, please post here.
Inviting private prison industry is right under the radar of white people who have no famililarity with that system. But it is absolutely vital to get a handle on this because it will affect all lives in the U.S.
The ultimate goal is to build out the federal system, crack down further on dissent and use the prisons as a manufacturing base for those products that cannot be built through automation.
I can't emphasize enough how vital it is for people to understand this. The same people who bemoan having to compete for minimum wage with illegals and are so preoccupied with that, fail to see what is occuring right under their noses--and it is now going to ramp up. Soon you will have to compete with American prisoners making a few bucks a day, while you pay taxes to subsidize the private prison industry.

"Made in America" from the Hill This is right off the radar of most. It is kept away from prying eyes. You can't have a profit incentive for private industry working from inside the prison system.
It encourages mass incarceration for the sake of that industry, while subsiding most of the cost of unnecessary incarcerations to the tax payer. The idea that the inmate is being trained to work outside of the system is a bit bogus, if most of the work is being done within that system.
As the "Made in USA" rhetoric plays out on national TV, those of us who fight the daily battle for domestic apparel manufacturing have routinely encountered unfairness, one that remains hidden from most Americans. This behemoth will destroy your job, close your factory and — hard to believe — is actually controlled by our own government!
The group is a division of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, operating under a program called UNICOR. They profess to do all things good for prisoners but, at the same time, their efforts and growing business enterprise will ultimately put legitimate U.S. apparel makers out of business.
But how can that be? Our own government forcing hardworking American firms out of business?

Fifty Large Corporations Using Prison Labor
The list includes, Starbucks, Wholefoods, etc...
Today, even the federal government brags about the "business opportunities" at dozens of federal prison factories across the country. Companies and prisons are working together to force inmates to work for pennies a day just to increase corporate profits.
The United States makes up less than 5% of the world's population but has nearly 25% of all the prisoners in the world. And it gets even worse: the 340% increase in Americans behind bars was funded, in part, by corporations looking for cheap labor. Dozens of respected companies funded the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), which passed the "Prison Industries Act" to expand inmate labor.
The problem here is, it is incredibly hard to even get people to read this information. It makes me heart sick. Not only do I see what is happening, I feel I can sense what may be coming.

When this kind of labor is framed as part of a rehabilitation effort to prepare inmates for the real world, it passes over the harsh reality of what is really going on.
And to bring it back to the subject of the title--It is beyond disgusting to see blacks in positions of influence minimizing or ignoring what is happening in the prison system.
This isn't even a left versus right issue, mainstream wise. Both sides ignore it.
Jesse Lee Peterson has to be on the top of the list. When I first heard his show, I honestly thought it was a joke of some sort. But it's not!:

Denzel Washington talks a bit about the prison system and minorities. Around the 3 minute mark:
