A comet has suddenly become visible to the unaided eye. Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) (https://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=C%2F2020%20F3;old=0;orb=1;cov=0;log=0;cad=0) was discovered in late March and brightened (http://www.aerith.net/comet/catalog/2020F3/2020F3.html) as it reached its closest approach to the Sun, inside the orbit of Mercury, late last week.

The interplanetary iceberg survived solar heating, so far, and is now becoming closer to the Earth as it starts its long trek back to the outer Solar System. As Comet NEOWISE became one of the few naked-eye comets of the 21st Century, word spread quickly, and the comet has already been photographed (https://spaceweathergallery.com/index.php?title=neowise) behind many famous sites and cities around the globe.

Featured, Comet NEOWISE was captured over Lebanon two days ago just before sunrise. The future brightness (https://earthsky.org/space/how-to-see-comet-c2020-f3-neowise) of Comet NEOWISE remains somewhat uncertain but the comet will likely continue to be findable (https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamiecartereurope/2020/07/06/how-to-see-comet-neowise-from-your-backyard-this-week/#352746cf496f) not only in the early morning sky, but also next week in the early evening sky.

The arrival of a comet was always regarded as a portent in the ancient world, for obvious reasons but nonetheless perhaps a token of hope, a sign that times move along and society changes!

Given that this year of 2020 is a pivotal year for humanity, turning for the worse, it is fitting for this comet to appear to company the earth on its journey. The first comet of the 21 century? That signifies something.

Hi syrwong :)

In a more positive note:
Given that this year of 2020 is a pivotal year for humanity, turning for the BETTER, it is fitting for this comet to appear to company the earth on its journey.

Twenty Stunning Images Of Comet NEOWISE

Published 12th July 2020

Comet Neowise is paying a visit to the inner solar system for the first time in 6,800 years. The comet has been getting brighter and brighter in the early morning sky. Neowise is one of the few comets visible to the unaided eye this century, an inner-solar system "intruder" that might become known as the Great Comet of 2020, NASA said.

Although it's visible with the naked eye, a simple telescope or pair of binoculars can reveal more details, especially when it is seen before twilight in the morning or after twilight in the evening.

The comet survived its recent closest approach to the sun, and is now headed back toward the outer solar system. Measuring about 3 miles across, Neowise is considered a fairly large comet

Comet NEOWISE, is a retrograde comet with a near-parabolic orbit discovered on March 27, 2020 by the NEOWISE space telescope. The comet is low in the morning sky just above the northeastern horizon and below Capella close to the glare of twilight. It can be clearly seen with the naked eye if one knows where to look. The comet is expected to remain visible to the naked eye throughout July 2020.

The bible said there would be signs in the heavens. This comets name is particularly auspicious, Neowise, new wisdom. Interesting moniker in these times.

Comet NEOWISE Is Approaching Earth

Published 22nd July 2020

Tomorrow night may be your best chance to see Comet NEOWISE (C/2020 F3) for the next 6,800 years. On July 23rd, the comet makes its closest approach to Earth--only 0.63 AU (103 million km) away. It's still visible to the naked eye (barely) from dark sky sites, but will fade as it recedes after this week.

If you can't see the comet after the sky fades to black on Thursday, try using binoculars. Even a little magnification brings NEOWISE into view. Short exposures with digital cameras reveal the comet's magnificent double tail.

Comet NEOWISE is now in the constellation Ursa Major. To find it, look north-northwest after sunset and let the stars of the Big Dipper be your guide.
And if you miss the comet ... no worries. It'll be back in 6,800 years!
