It seems that many extraordinary animals of the past were much more dramatic and interesting that those in our current biosphere. Or, they certainly seem so. :)

In Joe Rogan's great conversation with Randall Carlson (#501, May 2014), at 1:45:26 Carlson is talking with Rogan about some of the extraordinary creatures that lived really only a very short time ago in geological history — many of them wiped out by whatever the heck was the cataclysm that happened 12,800 years ago.
