Well, as someone who has scraped and clawed for the three rentals that comprise a vast chunk of my monthly income now, I can't say I'm particularly thrilled with this political stunt by Trump that just may indeed peal away some significant democrat votes for him. The over due rent piper either gets paid now, or the debt grows even larger, and the cliff drop off that much wider and higher, after the election.

There were sure enough digits on the Fed's computer screens to give unlimited sums for Mnuchin to grease the palms of big corporations and Wall Street who are making it big these days, and the military is fatter and happier than ever, interesting how there are seemingly no more solutions available besides playing political hot potato with this.

Come January the defaulting renters will still be out on their asses with unpayable, multi month rent due all at once, and now many landlords will be defaulting on those mortgages to boot.

Fortunately I think I've done due diligence in getting renters of good character, and I take care of their needs well enough, that they won't just take this opportunity to fill out that little CDC form and stick it in my face... it's also a real hassle to move and find another place, rentals are in extremely high demand these days and hard to come by these days.

But there will be a lot out there who are shortsighted enough to do just that because January, and the possibility of living on the street are a long ways away, and it's party time right now.

Without any further financial cushion to soften the blow for the little people, this is just kicking the can down the road and it's only going to get worse.

IIRC: Evictions in that context mean: anyone with a federal loan will not be evicted due to delinquency, your renters are not covered by this, though there may be local legislation to consider in the areas your properties are at.

Here's tonight's update from LALATE in which he says that it looks like there will finally be some bi-partisan negotiations, and the stimulus checks are not going to be delayed or attached to other negotiations, so probably results on that in September and not delayed until October.

He could sign an executive order and send out checks tomorrow to millions who have been desperately hoping for Congress to negotiate another Stimulus package for months.
Now Trump has simply prolonged the agony.

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is not negotiating in good faith, President Donald Trump said Tuesday, as he revealed he ordered his representatives to cut off stimulus negotiations with her.

The White House and Democrats have been negotiating for months to try to reach a compromise on a fresh stimulus bill.

Pelosi is insisting on a package that includes sending federal funds to states that aren’t managed well, which has nothing to do with the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump said in a social media statement.

That package is for $2.4 trillion. Trump’s team offered a smaller package.

“We made a very generous offer of $1.6 Trillion Dollars and, as usual, she is not negotiating in good faith. I am rejecting their request, and looking to the future of our Country. I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business,” he said.

Pelosi said in response that walking away from negotiations “demonstrates that President Trump is unwilling to crush the virus, as is required by the Heroes Act.”

“He shows his contempt for science, his disdain for our heroes—in health care, first responders, sanitation, transportation, food workers, teachers, teachers, teachers and others—and he refuses to put money in workers’ pockets, unless his name is printed on the check,” she added.

Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Trump’s primary negotiator, spoke for an hour over the phone on Monday morning and planned to speak again on Tuesday, a spokesman for the speaker said on Twitter previously.

The House last week passed a $2.2 trillion stimulus bill, an updated version of the Heroes Act, but the White House signaled it was opposed to the legislation.The bill included $436 billion for one year’s worth of assistance to state, local, territorial, and tribal governments.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany accused Pelosi of not being serious.

“If she becomes serious, then we can have a discussion here,” McEnany told reporters in Washington. “But when you lower your offer $2.2 trillion, and you ask for direct payments to illegal immigrants, and you ask for certain deportation forgivenesses in your offer, it’s not a serious offer. What we are talking about here is relief for the American people, for American citizens, not direct payments for illegal immigrants.”

Congressional Republicans also criticized the bill.

“This bill recycles the same socialist wish list that was offered in the Heroes Act, which House Republicans overwhelmingly rejected,” House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) wrote in a memo to other Republicans before the vote last week.

White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has said that Trump won’t sign legislation that approaches a $2 trillion threshold.

Trump’s decision to stop negotiations came after Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell called for another stimulus package.

Otherwise, the economic recovery could be weak, “creating unnecessary hardship for households and businesses,” he said.

The first stimulus package, the $2.2 trillion CARES Act, was passed by Congress and signed into law in March. Smaller packages centering around extra funding for the Paycheck Protection Program and the U.S. Postal Service has since passed and been signed by Trump."

This bill may not standing alone be a death sentence for the USA (and in some measure other countries feeling the ripple effects), but it is one more step in that direction. And, given how far we are down the road of economic collapse (where there is no more room to kick the can down the road), it could be the proverbial straw that breaks the camel’s back.

This is not a good thing in any way, shape or form.
