There is no such thing as fairness.
It depends on who knows who, especially in the political system. And
who in that system benefits or looses. Mostly it comes down to money.
We are controlled by finances,
In this system there is no right or wrong.
It depends on where you stand in the process of who you know,
That has nothing to do with right or wrong.
you can do almost anything if you are in the "club"
If not you can be totally destroyed.
That's it in a nutshell.
Make of it as you will.

Well, fairness may very well be an idealistic illusion here in our 3-d world. Every circumstance of life, from our birth situation, our talents, personality, virtues etc. (or lacks thereof) are never exactly "fair". Guess that is where karma may come into play? Kind of a ultimate fairness overview?

Yes, it's maybe as close to an understanding of fair that exists in our lives and the one that has within it the challenge to the solutions and answers we seek. It's not a comfortable philosophy for many but it's honest and portrays humanity and all individuals at the centre of their own dramas. This doesn't mean in any way, shape or form, that compassion isn't required, it most definitely is but we all need to understand the points of least resistance in ourselves to being victims and help the rest of humanity with this conundrum.

"fairness" is just an analogue for jealousy
reality is probability
our preference has nothing to do with it.

When viewing 'fairness' restricted to the context of a single lifetime, many things seem unfair. Undeserved hardship, unearned blessings. This is the illusion of fair/unfair.
But looking down from 40,000ft, and taking in the events of 100 lives, it all evens out.
Cause always follows effect (in this life or a previous). That's karma baby!

There is no "equality" for sure here on Earth, but ultimately everything is absolutely just and fair.
That doesn't mean that we should settle for the sociopathic model which we currently have, the one that consumes and destroys nature and benefits the few at the expense of everyone else. There is nothing balanced about that and it's absolutely unsustainable as we will come to realize quite soon. Humans just tend to be so thickheaded that it takes quite a lot of time and suffering for us to truly understand some fundamental truths.
"Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed."

This can be the new desciptor for the bigger picture.
