THE shock unveiling of a new Chinese stealth fighter aircraft has changed Asia's power balance and means Australia must dramatically rethink its regional strategy, according to an Australian analyst.

Peter Goon, a vehement critic of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Australia has committed to buying from the United States, says the Chinese J-20 is far superior to the American fighter and Australia must immediately adapt to the new status quo.

The Chinese tested the J-20 for the first time last week, on the day that US Secretary of Defence Robert Gates arrived in Beijing for talks. Although the Chinese claimed the timing was coincidental, Mr Gates expressed concerns about the military's motives.

Chinese President Hu Jintao confirmed the test flight later to US Defense Secretary Robert Gates who happens to be visiting the country amid concerns that the Chinese are modernizing and upgrading their technology (especially as their military budget in 2010 stood at $78 billion).

However, the timing of the test flight was apparently just coincidence and Robert Gates soon commented to clear up the matter:

... and if you believe that, have I got a bridge for you! ;)

Well the internationally established standard languages for all things re. flight are English, and French.
Since both use the same character set (mostly), it would make sense.

Now, I have no idea if this convention drifts over into things military, but it may.

PS: Neither the F-22 or the F-35 have the canard (winglet up front) this plane has.

"Photoshop" ?? Never heard of it!

ok... confession time.

I did that with Paint Shop Pro.

It's Photoshop for people who don't have time to take a college degree in a piece of software that will be updated 8 times, before you graduate.

If fact, I still use PSP ver. 7. This is the last version before Corel bought the company, and tried to turn PSP into a Photoshop clone.

I don't get it... A time when there's so much mistrust and chaos, you want to try fool us even more? Why would you do that? Your Photoshop skills are great i admit. But the Title of your thread is very misleading. Hundreds if not thousands would have read your post because of the title, Please can you find an alternative way to show us your skills?.

Cheers

Hold it... The Chinese plane is real.

I only posted my dollar bill as an off-topic response to the photoshop comment.
Hope that clears up any misunderstanding,

My comment was on the photo which no doubt Fredkc sourced from somewhere on the web; I was not accusing Fredkc of doing the photoshop job himself.

It's delta-wing like a Mirage. Some of the other characteristics looks like our F-22, like the canted twin rudders.

However, when you have this in your inventory, who cares?

A former B-2 stealth bomber engineer has been jailed for 32 years by a US court for selling military secrets to China.

Noshir Gowadia, 66, made profits of at least USD$110,000 (£68,000) by selling classified engine technology that China needed for its design of a stealth cruise missile that could evade infra-red detection, the court heard.

"He broke his oath of loyalty to this country," said Judge Susan Oki Mollway passing sentence after a hearing in Honolulu, Hawaii, "He was found guilty of marketing valuable technology to foreign countries for personal gain." Gowadia, an engineer with the Northrop Grumman Corporation between 1968-88 who worked on the B-2 design, made repeated trips to China between 2003 and 2005 providing "defence services" to China's cruise missile programme as a freelance consultant.

The prosecution had called on the judge to impose a life sentence on Gowadia who used the proceeds of the sales to fund a luxury lifestyle on Hawaii where he lived in a multi-million dollar home overlooking the ocean on Maui.Defence lawyers for Gowadia, an Indian-born engineer who worked on the engine design for the B-2 bomber, had argued that he had sold only unclassified technology.
However after a 40-day trial, he was convicted on 14 charges including communicating national defence information to aid a foreign nation, violating the arms export control act and several counts of money-laundering and tax fraud.
