I saw something similar once, but what I saw was simpler in that it did not shimmer.

I saw what looked identical to a soap bubble. It was just a bit smaller than a volley ball. We thought, wow what kind of soap are they using to make that bubble last so long. This was in the middle of the day with a bright blue sky. We first saw it above our house. We watched and watched expecting it to pop - but it never did. It eventually went so far away we lost sight of it.

It was not windy at all, so it was difficult to say if it was being moved by wind. It did not have an erratic movement at all - very steady and just moved away at what seemed a slow but constant speed.

It was not a clear balloon. It appeared to look just like a soap bubble.
