CAMBRIDGE STUDY: CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH DETERIORATED “SUBSTANTIALLY” DURING LOCKDOWN
Posted by John Titor | Dec 12, 2020
https://wearechange.org/cambridge-study-childrens-mental-health-deteriorated-substantially-during-lockdown/

"A new study by researchers at the University of Cambridge finds that the government-imposed lockdowns in response to the coronavirus pandemic cause significant harm to children’s mental health. The study, published this week in the Archives of Disease in Childhood, was the first of its kind to analyze data on younger children’s mental health before and during the first lockdown in the United Kingdom last spring.

Following 168 children between the ages of 7 ½ and 11 ½, the researchers conclude: “During the UK lockdown, children’s depression symptoms have increased substantially, relative to before lockdown. The scale of this effect has direct relevance for the continuation of different elements of lockdown policy, such as complete or partial school closures.”

They continue: “Specifically, we observed a statistically significant increase in ratings of depression, with a medium-to-large effect size. Our findings emphasise the need to incorporate the potential impact of lock-down on child mental health in planning the ongoing response to the global pandemic and the recovery from it.”

LOCKDOWNS AND DECLINING YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH
Other studies linking declining mental health with lockdown policies have emerged for adolescents and young adults in recent months, but children were not typically represented. For example, the CDC reported in August that 1 in 4 individuals ages 18-24 contemplated suicide during the spring lockdowns, and a recent Harvard study found startling rates of depression in young adults. Adolescent mental health has been hit particularly hard by the lockdowns and related social distancing policies. For example, a 16-year-old boy from Brunswick, Maine took his life last week after leaving a note saying that he felt locked in his house during the pandemic and separated from friends due to remote learning.

The new University of Cambridge paper is the first longitudinal study to trace the mental health effects of lockdowns and social isolation on younger children, finding that their mental health is similarly deteriorating during the pandemic response.

An article this week in the New York Times acknowledged the loneliness that children feel this year, but echoed a sense of inevitability. Describing the experience of a two-year-old who, upon encountering others, says “Uh-Oh. People,” the Times explains that “she’s part of a generation living in a particular new type of bubble — one without other children. They are the Toddlers of Covid-19. Gone for her and many peers are the play dates, music classes, birthday parties, the serendipity of the sandbox or the side-by-side flyby on adjacent swing sets.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/09/health/Covid-toddlers-playdates.html

While the Times rightly points out that the most important relationships for toddlers are with their parents, the widespread acceptance of peer isolation of children during the past 10 months is unsettling. Keeping children away from sandboxes and swing sets, or depriving them of small birthday parties and playdates, is doing more harm than good—particularly where children are mostly spared from the worst effects of COVID-19 and their risk of dying from COVID-19 is, thankfully, extremely low. By contrast, the harm of lockdowns and other pandemic policies and practices that deprive young people of social connection is disturbingly high.

Ellen Townsend is a psychology professor at the University of Nottingham who has been speaking out about the harmful consequences of lockdowns and mass testing policies that are especially damaging to youth during the pandemic. Townsend, along with several colleagues, launched a website to try to influence policymakers away from damaging lockdowns and mass testing protocols.

“I am deeply concerned about the long-term impact on our children and young people both of lockdowns and mass testing. Face-to-face interaction and play is vital for healthy development from tots to teens,” Townsend told me a recent interview. “Living in a constant state of threat will have impacts on mental health and development also. I think mass testing will exacerbate this fear. Mass testing will perpetuate restrictive measures – this is a scientifically unsound and unethical screening program. Lockdowns are a disaster for the young and the disadvantaged.”

Townsend adds that these lockdown harms are not only temporary during the pandemic. They can have lasting effects. “We know that loneliness is being felt more acutely by young people than older people in this crisis. The mental health impacts of loneliness can last for up to 9 years,” she says.

WHAT CAN PARENTS DO?
The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that COVID-19 vaccine trials for children are beginning, but noted that vaccines will likely not be ready for children by the start of the 2021/2022 academic year. That could mean many more months of isolation for children unless parents push back against lockdowns, school closures, and related coercive policies that are harming young people most of all.

Stanford’s Jay Bhattacharya, one of the co-authors of the Great Barrington Declaration that advocates a “Focused Protection” approach to the pandemic response, wrote recently: “In effect, what we’ve been doing is requiring young people to bear the burden of controlling a disease from which they face little to no risk. This is entirely backward from the right approach.”

In addition to resisting new and ongoing lockdown policies, parents can also take the lead in ensuring that their children have crucial social interaction.

Whether by forming “pods” with other families to encourage safe socializing, encouraging teens to take a walk with their friends, or prioritizing sandbox play with other toddlers, parents can help to protect their children’s mental health and well-being in the months to come."

'We’re trying to help as many people as possible fight their COVID violation fines. Every day we receive more and more "Fight the Fines" cases through our online portal at FightTheFines.com. It’s almost impossible to keep up, but we haven’t stopped trying to take on every single one of those tickets. We’re also crowdfunding on that site so we can pay the legal fees associated with fighting each case.

The fines are often much less than the legal fees, but that’s the price we have to pay to stand up for our civil liberties. If you would like to chip in to help us recoup those costs, please click here.

I have three crazy stories for you today.

The first brings two of my biggest passions together: fighting government overreach and professional wrestling.

“Hotshot“ Danny Duggan is a professional wrestler and wrestling promoter. His business depends on travelling from venue to venue and, more importantly, on fans buying tickets to go to his live events. Needless to say, all that is illegal now in every province and territory in Canada.

So Danny got creative — he filmed his wrestling event in a closed facility in full compliance with the existing laws. But someone decided to report Danny’s production through the COVID snitch line, summoning police and bylaw enforcement to issue Danny a $1,300 fine!

Here, take a look:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RQ9qzivVuM

'Next, we have Chris Schmidt. Chris and his friends recently attended an anti-lockdown protest in Red Deer, Alberta.

They tried to keep to themselves, but that didn’t stop a Segway cop from chasing them down and asking for their information. Chris reluctantly agreed and since he didn't receive a ticket at the event, he didn’t think much of the interaction.

But wouldn’t you know it, nearly a week later, police showed up at his house to hand him a $1,200 ticket.

You can watch that story right here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRiRv6PxkmU

Finally, I want to introduce you to the real-life version of the Footloose town: Winkler, Manitoba. Winkler just might be ground zero of heavy-handed COVID enforcement.

That’s where police have been issuing COVID tickets to maskless seniors picking up their prescriptions at the store, fining teenagers for hosting socially distant birthday parties and Christmas carolers singing in a public park.

Winkler is also where the RCMP pulled over Bailey Friesen and his friends for no other reason but to issue each of them a $1,296 COVID fine.

They weren’t speeding, drinking, or doing anything else noteworthy — they were simply driving.

It’s unbelievable. Click here to watch. '

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSHpxxTBYns

If you get a ticket, make sure you submit your story to FightTheFines.com so we can pair you with one of our excellent civil liberties lawyers.

Despite what our health officials want us to think, pandemics do not override our Charter rights. But to preserve those rights, we have to defend them, especially when they’re actively being trampled on.

If you agree and want to help us continue taking on these cases, please click here or visit FightTheFines.com today.

Yours truly,

Sheila Gunn Reid

P.S. These stories are getting to be more and more bizarre. That’s why we won’t stop until Canada’s COVID cops put their ticket books away and start investigating REAL crimes.

P.P.S. Please help us spread our message by sharing our videos with your friends and family. You never know when someone you know might need our help. Thank you.'

I know this was posted a month ago but we need to always be vigilant about the accuracy of the information that's contained in our posts.

The video may have been posted in December but the interview was done in June.

A lot has changed number-wise since June 2020 when this was taped.

Kennedy and Big Tree's arguments are still extremely strong, but the numbers are outdated.

That delay may have been due to censorship of the original video if it was on youtube, which it probably was.

The delay in posting could well have been due to censorship.

However I was commenting on something else.

If I have watched a video and am considering posting a link to it on a site,
I would make a mental note of when the link was posted and when the
actual recording of the video was made. Usually they are close in time.

As I watched the short video I quickly noticed that the case and death numbers were out
of whack to what we are hearing now. So I did a search and found out when the recording was
actually made.
Their argument comparing CV to the flu is not as strong as it was back in June 2020.

As I said, it's still a good interview, but I would try not to confuse/mislead anyone when I posted it.
I would say here's a good interview that was recorded on 'such and such a date'.

The fellow's name is Chris Saccoccia.
He lives just outside Toronto and less than a two hour drive from me.

He has become quite popular the past year, being outspoken about the entire plandemic and its
draconian measures.

He was issued an $800 ticket for violating a 14-day quarantine on his trip back to Canada from Ireland,
where he gave a speech to thousands.

Do a search on his name and you can read up on all of his activities the past year.

BTW, I agree with you that he pretty well sums up the whole plandemic in less than two minutes in that video!

Regrettably, yes it has come to this.

We in Canada are now measuring the degree to which we are having our rights violated. :(

What upsets me perhaps the most about this whole plandemic
are not the draconian measures themselves, but rather
the fact that almost every country in the world is following in lockstep,
the same marching orders, at times literally reading from the same script.

For me that's the most disturbing part.

Lockdown? What lockdown? THERE IS NO LOCKDOWN. Nothing has REALLY changed. You still go where you want and do what you want, no? Did they install prison bars on your doors and windows? We have "lockdown" regulations here too but where I live people ain't stupid, we come and go as we please. We don't even wear masks. If the police were to stop someone, we just say we're going to the shops. If anyone asks about why no mask, we just say we have exemption.

Soneone here mentioned people being fined. I don't even understand that one. Simply no one pay the fines, no? What are they gonna do, imprison everyone? Then who will produce food? The police will start working on the fields or what?

Some people even complain about their kids having to spend 4hrs a day doing google classroom. Are you insane? Take your kids out of school, it's that simple. Just say you're home-schooling them. SO SIMPLE. Better than before, when they were getting brainwashed by the system. Don't you care for their future? Teach them SURVIVAL SKILLS, not frikin world was history. Grow food together in the garden, teach them SELF-SUFFICIENCY. This is a better time than ever to go OFF THE GRID. Get some solar panels, electric cooker, electric shower, heating, etc. NO MORE BILLS. Collect and filter (even distil if you want) rain water. no gas, no electric, no water.

I may be missing something here, but isn't the solution to the whole covid "crisis" that everyone act normal? That, and stop consuming TV and news channels, and the corporate media in general. Go off grid and live your life. Don't even pay attention to politics and it will go away. Even if you're old-school and not a breatharian like many of us now, then grow your own food and live free, no? Grow your own, make your own, bake your own, build your own. It's not even hard, AND it keeps you busy, no??

CFFS Backs Tennessee Bill Outlawing Businesses from Requiring Masks, Tests, Vaccines

February 23, 2020

bob.frantz@citizensforfreespeech.org

Mesa, AZ – Unconstitutional requirements for consumers to wear face masks in privately-owned businesses that serve the public may be a thing of the past in Tennessee, if state legislators approve a newly introduced bill in the state house. Citizens for Free Speech (CFFS), a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the First Amendment, hailed the legislation as being an enormous step toward restoring the constitutional rights of citizens in all states.

“This is precisely what we have been calling for in all 50 states,” exclaimed CFFS Executive Director Patrick Wood. “We hear from business owners and employees from across the country who don’t want to enforce oppressive mandates, but they feel forced to do so under penalty of fines or closures at the hands of state officials.”

Gary Humble, founder of the activist organization Tennessee Stands, agrees, arguing that the bill “removes business owners from the threats of cancel culture and the political conversations surrounding masks and other overreaching policies.”

Republican state representative Susan Lynn, along with two co-sponsors, introduced the legislation on February 9, which “prohibits a person from denying an individual the full and equal enjoyment of goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, and accommodations of a place of public accommodation, resort, or amusement on the grounds of the wearing or use of a medical device, or whether the individual has received medical treatment.”

The specific language in the bill would do more than outlaw businesses from requiring customers to wear face masks, which have been found to be dangerous for some healthy people. If passed, it would also prohibit businesses of public accommodation from requiring negative COVID-19 tests or proof of vaccination before serving customers.

“The idea that business owners, acting upon direct orders from government officials, should restrict the opportunity for free people to engage in commerce based upon medical procedures they may or may not have received is simply unconscionable,” said Wood. “We have long feared that the face mask mandates were only the beginning; that forcing people to cover their faces in public would lead to public acceptance of more onerous requirements such as negative tests and vaccines to simply live and interact in public places. Sadly, that’s exactly what is happening.”

“Passing this law is a big deal, Humble added. “We have abandoned laws that have been on the books for decades. We are pretending that the ADA and HIPAA laws just don’t exist anymore.”

Wood is hopeful that more state legislatures will follow the lead of the Volunteer State.

“Sometimes, all it takes is for one or two states to lead the way, and suddenly the dominos are tumbling down from one end of the country to the other,” he said. “CFFS stands ready to assist the courageous Tennessee representatives in generating support for this bill in any way we can.”

And while almost all the people who have died of covid have died in rich countries and been old, the vast majority of people who have died of lockdown have died in poor countries and been young. This means that the number of years of life lost to lockdown is many times greater than the number of years of life lost to covid-19 (as I’ve written about on this blog previously).

No, ERnie, because without partial lockdowns, masks etc...there would have been flu plus covid. The prophylactic measures taken prevented all kinds of infectious illnesses, besides covid. And still, many hospitals were overwhelmed.

I understand why you believe this to be the case but your beliefs do not seem to be supported by observation or any scientific studies.

Here is a link that list 11 peer reviewed papers that each found that lockdowns do not work.

Another point to consider is:
People who refuse to wear masks are also not getting tested for covid-19.

This means that all the new cases and when there are surges in cases that it is masked people testing positive.

Mass hysteria is likely to blame for most of this "pandemic" which is why the countries with the most media and news influencing the population, the more severe the lockdown.

Just look at this world map of deaths per million people.

New legislation adopted in Cambodia would make violating coronavirus measures a serious offense punishable by up to two decades behind bars. The harsh law has been criticized as a way to crack down on dissent.

Passed unanimously by the country's parliament on Friday, the law calls for a three-year prison sentence for those who break quarantine orders, and up to twenty years in jail for any group that intentionally spreads the virus.

Cambodia's Health Minister Mam Bunheng hailed the law as a way to "protect public health."

The southeast Asian nation has registered 932 Covid cases since the start of the pandemic, but has yet to record a single death linked to the virus.

Critics claim that the law is excessive and can be used by the government to crackdown on political opponents. Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in a statement that the legislation will "further erode the rights of activists and dissidents."

"Imposing ridiculously harsh penalties for Covid-19 infractions goes against both public health and human rights principles," HRW's deputy Asia director Phil Robertson said in a statement.
SOTT Comment: Isn't this the case with emergency Covid legislation everywhere? It is not the police's job to enforce the lockdown whims of UK ministers - former senior judge Lord Sumption (https://www.sott.net/article/447165-It-is-not-the-polices-job-to-enforce-the-lockdown-whims-of-UK-ministers-former-senior-judge-Lord-Sumption)
The law was passed days after exiled opposition leader Sam Rainsy was sentenced in absentia to 25 years in jail over an alleged plot to oust Prime Minister Hun Sen, who has ruled Cambodia for 36 years.

Cambodia is far from the only country to impose harsh punishments for those who run afoul of Covid measures. Last month the UK government threatened an up to 10-year prison term for anyone caught falsifying their travel history when entering the country in breach of quarantine rules.

France calls up 4,400 officers to enforce 6pm curfew in Paris amid compliance concerns

"If the police find groups of people in which respect for social distancing cannot be guaranteed, in particular (https://www.rt.com/news/517327-france-paris-police-covid-curfew/) on the banks of the Seine and in public parks and gardens, they are instructed to proceed with their evacuation," the Paris police department confirmed on Friday, as it announced the mobilization of 4,400 officers this weekend.
SOTT Comment: Note that some parts of Europe are enjoying relatively warm weather for this time of year, and so the police are essentially being deployed to prevent people bonding, getting exercise, fresh air, and sunshine (https://www.sott.net/article/445031-Vitamin-D-to-be-delivered-free-to-care-homes-as-lockdown-leads-to-increased-deficiency).
The police also urged people to ensure they reduce their social contacts to a maximum of six people and avoid any travel outside the Paris metropolitan area in order to prevent spreading the virus to other regions.
SOTT Comment: One would assume that getting out of the polluted city for a short break would be good for people's health and immune system. Note that there is no evidence healthy people showing no symptoms spread coronavirus.
"If, during gathering in public places, it is found that the sanitary measures in force are not respected, people will be dispersed immediately," the statement adds.

Since mid-January, the country has been under a nighttime curfew running from 6pm until 6am. However, its effectiveness has been called into question in recent weeks with 23 regions of France placed under "reinforced surveillance" over a rise in Covid-19 infection rates. Stricter measures have been brought in at weekends for Nice and Dunkirk already and will be imposed in the northern area of Pas-de-Calais as of Saturday.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Jean Castex backtracked on proposed plans (https://www.rt.com/news/516643-france-paris-covid19-lockdown-plans/) for a weekend shutdown of the capital and other major towns, while the Paris deputy mayor has requested a three-week circuit-breaker lockdown to stem the spread of the virus, followed by a rapid reopening of businesses.
SOTT Comment: These 'circuit breakers' have been shown to do nothing to limit the spread of the relatively harmless coronavirus; other countries that have enforced (https://www.sott.net/article/443472-UKs-ex-SAGE-member-speaks-out-against-circuit-breaker-lockdown) them, such as Wales, have simply resorted to total lockdowns weeks later.
Despite calls for tough new measures in the capital, Paris will only see relatively minor additional restrictions, including the closure of non-food stores and shopping centers greater than 10,000m².
SOTT Comment: For the millions who have been out of work, unable to travel, and locked down in their houses for nearly a year, any additional and extension of restrictions will not seem 'minor' at all.
On Thursday, a group of protesters took over Paris' Odeon Theater as part of a series national demonstrations against the continued closure of cultural venues. As many as 80 people made their way into the 18th century building.

In recent weeks, media reports have shown crowds of people enjoying good weather in the capital, many maskless and flouting bans on social distancing.
SOTT Comment: If the coronavirus was the threat that governments claimed it to be, it's likely they wouldn't need to deploy increasing numbers of their security forces to remind citizens of the supposed threat.
