Woah. What can they mean ? This has to be about the dam releasing water, not weather control surely that would be too much to hope for at this stage?

That is the case John.

Watch and we will see "later" them saying: no photos/vids of "contents" property, no carpet samples ect, No claim! Just on the news, they are saying those on the River unlikely on claiming building cover and contents will be around 15-30% of value. This could get uglyl

I was listening to an depth radio talk today RE: the whole QLD flood and insurance claims. It's standard policy to only pay out if the water damage is "top down" then its said to be "storm related."
But if its water rising from "ground up" that's considered flood and not covered UNLESS u have taken out an added option on your policy. BUT ... this is further compounded by different companies having different rules, even from state to state.

Also it has to do with flood zonings, certain areas are flood prone, so u cant get any flood insurance even if u wanted it, other areas have been re-zoned because of the drought. The whole thing is a real mess, many people will be homeless and have to start again from scratch.

I went for a long drive today, ( 7 hours) through Central Victoria, the flood damage was astounding. Some towns had whole sections of road that has just floated away, and many trees were down all over the roads. Quite a few towns i drove through had streets full of houses with all their furniture piled on the pavement, completely water damaged. It looked like a war zone. Mind blowing stuff.

Thanks for the VIC update Astrid. One has to think that insurance companies are going to go bust world wide if the disaster trend continues. Another sign of the times. Brasil got hit as hard as we did.
