Trump Selects An Actual Astronaut To Lead NASA

by Tyler Durden
Wednesday, Dec 04, 2024 - 03:25 PM
President-elect Donald Trump announced Wednesday afternoon that he has selected billionaire entrepreneur and veteran SpaceX astronaut Jared Isaacman to lead the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

If confirmed, Isaacman would replace Bill Nelson, a former US senator from Florida who oversaw the space agency under the outgoing Biden administration.

https://assets.zerohedge.com/s3fs-public/inline-images/Gd9_-cZXYAAKUU7.jpg?itok=yFDtPRmA

Here's Trump's statement on Isaacman's nomination:

I am delighted to nominate Jared Isaacman, an accomplished business leader, philanthropist, pilot, and astronaut, as Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Jared will drive NASA's mission of discovery and inspiration, paving the way for groundbreaking achievements in Space science, technology, and exploration.

Over the past 25 years, as the Founder and CEO of Shift4, Jared has demonstrated exceptional leadership, building a trailblazing global financial technology company. He also co-founded and served as CEO of Draken International, a defense aerospace company, for over a decade, supporting the US Department of Defense, and our Allies.

Jared's passion for Space, astronaut experience, and dedication to pushing the boundaries of exploration, unlocking the mysteries of the universe, and advancing the new Space economy, make him ideally suited to lead NASA into a bold new Era.

Congratulations to Jared, his wife Monica, and their children, Mila and Liv!

Moments after Trump posted on X, Isaacman released his statement:

Jared Isaacman

@rookisaacman
I am honored to receive President Trump’s
@realDonaldTrump
nomination to serve as the next Administrator of NASA. Having been fortunate to see our amazing planet from space, I am passionate about America leading the most incredible adventure in human history.

On my last mission to space, my crew and I traveled farther from Earth than anyone in over half a century. I can confidently say this second space age has only just begun. Space holds unparalleled potential for breakthroughs in manufacturing, biotechnology, mining, and perhaps even pathways to new sources of energy. There will inevitably be a thriving space economy—one that will create opportunities for countless people to live and work in space. At NASA, we will passionately pursue these possibilities and usher in an era where humanity becomes a true spacefaring civilization.

I was born after the Moon landings; my children were born after the final space shuttle launch. With the support of President Trump, I can promise you this: We will never again lose our ability to journey to the stars and never settle for second place. We will inspire children, yours and mine, to look up and dream of what is possible. Americans will walk on the Moon and Mars and in doing so, we will make life better here on Earth.

It is the honor of a lifetime to serve in this role and to work alongside NASA’s extraordinary team to realize our shared dreams of exploration and discovery.

Grateful to serve, Jared

Trump's decision to nominate Isaacman comes months after he and SpaceX engineer Sarah Gillis made history by performing the world's first commercial spacewalk (https://www.zerohedge.com/technology/welcome-back-planet-earth-spacex-polaris-dawn-crew-returns-after-historic-spacewalk) farther from Earth than any other astronaut in over half a century.

https://assets.zerohedge.com/s3fs-public/inline-images/2024-09-12_06-52-49_0.png?itok=j4Z6AZaV

That mission, called Polaris Dawn (https://www.zerohedge.com/technology/spacexs-polaris-dawn-crew-now-zero-g-ahead-historic-spacewalk), was partially funded by Isaacman to test Starlink technology and space suits.

Isaacman emphasized how America will maintain its space dominance: "We will never again lose our ability to journey to the stars and never settle for second place." This comment concerns the space race between the US, China, and Russia.

The NASA Administrator manages a budget of about $25 billion and will play a pivotal role in the upcoming Artemis moon mission in the coming years.

"There will inevitably be a thriving space economy — one that will create opportunities for countless people to live and work in space," Isaacman said, adding, "At NASA, we will passionately pursue these possibilities and usher in an era where humanity becomes a true spacefaring civilization."

Elon Musk's SpaceX is why America is far ahead in the global space race.

SpaceX aims to launch 'all-civilian' trip into orbit

— Published 2nd February 2021
____

SpaceX announced Monday it's aiming to launch this year the first all-civilian mission into Earth's orbit, led by a tech billionaire who plans to raffle off the remaining spots aboard the craft. Entrepreneur Jared Isaacman is to be joined by three other novice astronauts for a multi-day journey into space.

One seat will go to a worker from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which treats childhood cancers and pediatric diseases, while the others are to be drawn from a select raffle.

All crew members "will receive commercial astronaut training by SpaceX on the Falcon 9 launch vehicle and Dragon spacecraft," as well as orbital mechanics and stress testing, including operating in zero-gravity.

Space Fans Get Seats On Billionaire's Private Flight

A billionaire's private SpaceX flight filled its two remaining seats Tuesday with a scientist-teacher and a data engineer whose college friend actually won a spot but gave him the prize.

http://scx1.b-cdn.net/csz/news/800a/2021/3-twospacefans.jpg

The new passengers: Sian Proctor, a community college educator in Tempe, Arizona, and Chris Sembroski, a former Air Force missileman from Everett, Washington. They will join flight sponsor Jared Isaacman and St Jude physician assistant Hayley Arceneaux, 29, who won previously, for three days in orbit.

Proctor is an artist and geologist born in Guam, who applied three times to NASA's astronaut corps, coming close in 2009. She took part in simulated Mars missions in Hawaii.

Sembroski, 41, donated and entered the lottery but wasn't picked in the random drawing earlier this month—his friend was. He declined to fly for personal reasons and offered the spot to Sembroski, who worked as a Space Camp counselor in college and volunteered for space advocacy groups.

"It was like when Harry Potter found out he was a wizard, a little bit of shock and awe," Proctor told The Associated Press last week. "It's like, 'I'm the winner?'"

The seventh flight test of Starship is preparing to launch as soon as Wednesday, January 15, 2025

https://sxcontent9668.azureedge.us/cms-assets/assets/Flight_7_Website_Desktop_4_9d59c5f84f.jpg

A live webcast of the flight test will begin about 35 minutes before liftoff, which you can watch here and on X @SpaceX. You can also watch the webcast on the new X TV app. The launch window will open at 4:00 p.m. CT. As is the case with all developmental testing, the schedule is dynamic and likely to change, so be sure to check in here and stay tuned to our X account for updates.

The upcoming flight test will launch a new generation ship with significant upgrades, attempt Starship’s first payload deployment test, fly multiple reentry experiments geared towards ship catch and reuse, and launch and return the Super Heavy booster.

A block of planned upgrades to the Starship upper stage will debut on this flight test, bringing major improvements to reliability and performance. The vehicle’s forward flaps have been reduced in size and shifted towards the vehicle tip and away from the heat shield, significantly reducing their exposure to reentry heating while simplifying the underlying mechanisms and protective tiling. Redesigns to the propulsion system, including a 25 percent increase in propellant volume, the vacuum jacketing of feedlines, a new fuel feedline system for the vehicle’s Raptor vacuum engines, and an improved propulsion avionics module controlling vehicle valves and reading sensors, all add additional vehicle performance and the ability to fly longer missions. The ship’s heat shield will also use the latest generation tiles and includes a backup layer to protect from missing or damaged tiles.

The vehicle’s avionics underwent a complete redesign, adding additional capability and redundancy for increasingly complex missions like propellant transfer and ship return to launch site. Avionics upgrades include a more powerful flight computer, integrated antennas which combine Starlink, GNSS, and backup RF communication functions into each unit, redesigned inertial navigation and star tracking sensors, integrated smart batteries and power units that distribute data and 2.7MW of power across the ship to 24 high-voltage actuators, and an increase to more than 30 vehicle cameras giving engineers insight into hardware performance across the vehicle during flight. With Starlink, the vehicle is capable of streaming more than 120 Mbps of real-time high-definition video and telemetry in every phase of flight, providing invaluable engineering data to rapidly iterate across all systems.

While in space, Starship will deploy 10 Starlink simulators, similar in size and weight to next-generation Starlink satellites as the first exercise of a satellite deploy mission. The Starlink simulators will be on the same suborbital trajectory as Starship, with splashdown targeted in the Indian Ocean. A relight of a single Raptor engine while in space is also planned.

The flight test will include several experiments focused on ship return to launch site and catch. On Starship’s upper stage, a significant number of tiles will be removed to stress-test vulnerable areas across the vehicle. Multiple metallic tile options, including one with active cooling, will test alternative materials for protecting Starship during reentry. On the sides of the vehicle, non-structural versions of ship catch fittings are installed to test the fittings’ thermal performance, along with a smoothed and tapered edge of the tile line to address hot spots observed during reentry on Starship’s sixth flight test. The ship’s reentry profile is being designed to intentionally stress the structural limits of the flaps while at the point of maximum entry dynamic pressure. Finally, several radar sensors will be tested on the tower chopsticks with the goal of increasing the accuracy when measuring distances between the chopsticks and a returning vehicle during catch.

The Super Heavy booster will utilize flight proven hardware for the first time, reusing a Raptor engine from the booster launched and returned on Starship’s fifth flight test. Hardware upgrades to the launch and catch tower will increase reliability for booster catch, including protections to the sensors on the tower chopsticks that were damaged at launch and resulted in the booster offshore divert on Starship’s previous flight test.

Distinct vehicle and pad criteria must be met prior to a return and catch of the Super Heavy booster, requiring healthy systems on the booster and tower and a final manual command from the mission’s Flight Director. If this command is not sent prior to the completion of the boostback burn, or if automated health checks show unacceptable conditions with Super Heavy or the tower, the booster will default to a trajectory that takes it to a landing burn and soft splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico. We accept no compromises when it comes to ensuring the safety of the public and our team, and the return will only take place if conditions are right.

The returning booster will slow down from supersonic speeds, resulting in audible sonic booms in the area around the landing zone. Generally, the only impact to those in the surrounding area of a sonic boom is the brief thunder-like noise with variables like weather and distance from the return site determining the magnitude experienced by observers.

This new year will be transformational for Starship, with the goal of bringing reuse of the entire system online and flying increasingly ambitious missions as we iterate towards being able to send humans and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, and Mars.

I've got to say, that was one quite amazing spectacle. How they launch these massive machines and then catch them again, perfectly...

I dare to presume that even the ETs up there have got to be impressed with that. As far as primitive rockets are concerned, glorified roman candles in other words, we have to be the supreme technological power, the foremost experts in the galaxy.

Hats off to Elon.

SpaceX confirms ‘rapid unscheduled disassembly during its ascent’

Yes: for those not up to speed with what happened, the returning Booster catch was spectacularly successful, but the Starship itself, on its continuing suborbital trajectory, broke up into pieces very soon after the tower catch. :worried:

The root cause is not yet known, but on the livestream it could be seen that 5 of the 6 Starship engines suddenly cut out asymmetrically which would have sent it into a catastrophic spin.

What Exactly Happened On SpaceX's Seventh Starship Launch Attempt?:

vAmyOezZF6g
After a lot of upgrades, this afternoon Starship lifted off for the seventh time, and like usual it was eventful. Notably, this was the first flight with Starship V2, an upgraded Starship variant that features a larger size, new forward flap positions, avionics, etc. For this reason, the plan was a very busy upper-stage flight profile filled with engine relights, the first payload deployment, and then re-entry.

Unfortunately, the ship experienced a RUD right around the engine cutoff. As for the booster, for a second time, it successfully was caught by the chopsticks on the launch tower, which featured upgrades to its hardware and sensors.

Elon also just tweeted, saying, "Preliminary indication is that we had an oxygen/fuel leak in the cavity above the ship engine firewall that was large enough to build pressure in excess of the vent capacity. Apart from obviously double-checking for leaks, we will add fire suppression to that volume and probably increase vent area. Nothing so far suggests pushing next launch past next month."

Re: SpaceX Starship test flights ...

As a small boy I saw 'live' black-and-white 'Apollo' TV-shows. Hmm.

1. I then never thought that no one would ever again travel beyond low earth orbit (LEO).
1.1. Even commie-Soviets or Chinese would never send any man-meat there.

2. Mars cannot happen before Moon II.
2.1. And Moon II cannot happen before any, even for some minutes, human travel to a-bit-beyond-LEO.

Who would ever volunteer to Elon's ships to Mars?

SpaceX's current best guess as to what happened:

~~~
Preliminary indication is that we had an oxygen/fuel leak in the cavity above the ship engine firewall that was large enough to build pressure in excess of the vent capacity.
Apart from obviously double-checking for leaks, we will add fire suppression to that volume and probably increase vent area. Nothing so far suggests pushing next launch past next month.
1880060983734858130
But 'next month' may be optimistic. The FAA will want to investigate all this, and that may take a while. The following explains their concern:
~~~
The FAA briefly slowed and diverted aircraft around the area where space vehicle debris was falling. Normal operations have resumed.

A Debris Response Area is activated only if the space vehicle experiences an anomaly with debris falling outside of the identified closed aircraft hazard areas. It allows the FAA to direct aircraft to exit the area and prevent others from entering."

The FAA confirming that there was debris was outside of the hazard areas.

I have emailed members of the Everyday Astronaut team and asked if they have higher rez footage re the below post I made.

Fantastic sight !

More affirmation of the chopsticks proof of concept.
Pity about Starship 7 itself.
Roll on the next tests.

Regarding the launch live stream I watched.
Can anyone shed any light on what we viewed here please ?

Seen live on the Tim Dodds Everyday Astronaut's Youtube Chanel video ( link below ).

At 2.41.20 into his stream during the rocket boosters decent/return I saw these anomalies on screen for 20 seconds or so.

54314
54313
54312

EA's Video.

Bottom frames of right hand feed
Screen on left is the Space X feed and was 10 seconds or so behind into the flight time than the right hand feed )

6Px_b5eSzsA

I would like see any other videos taken from other angles at the exact time frame of the boosters return taken during the seconds before and seconds after the above were captured to see if this anomaly can be identified as being part of rocket, camera glitch or other etc.

Any thoughts ?

NASA's New Nuclear Rocket Engine to Mars in a Day! Even Faster than SpaceX Starship:

8tWmoldRpB0
Six months—that's how long Elon Musk estimates a journey to Mars will take aboard Starship, powered by its 39 Raptor engines.

But six months is a long time for anyone, including you and me. And NASA? Well, they’re not too thrilled about it either.

That’s why NASA has unveiled a revolutionary new engine, powered by an advanced energy source. They claim it will be more powerful, safer, and capable of getting humans to Mars faster than Starship’s Raptor engines.
So, what is this engine? How does it outperform SpaceX’s Raptors? And why is NASA so confident in its breakthrough technology?

Chemical rockets have long been the foundation of space exploration, relying on the combustion of propellants and oxidizers to generate thrust. These rockets come in two primary forms: solid-fuel and liquid-fuel. Solid-fuel rockets contain a pre-mixed combination of propellant and oxidizer in a solid state, while liquid-fuel rockets store these components separately, combining them in the combustion chamber to produce high-temperature, high-pressure gases. These gases are then expelled through the engine nozzle, generating the thrust necessary to propel a spacecraft.

One of the most ambitious rockets in development today is SpaceX’s Starship, a next-generation launch vehicle designed for deep-space missions. Central to Elon Musk’s vision of colonizing Mars, Starship has been engineered to maximize thrust and efficiency. At the heart of this innovation is its full-flow staged combustion cycle (FFSC) engine—the Raptor. Unlike traditional rocket engines, which burn RP-1 kerosene or hydrogen, the Raptor is fueled by methane and liquid oxygen (LOX).

SpaceX Starship Flight 8 Problem FIXED But...Can this Launch Today?:

-IgZKdFXoUM
SpaceX Starship Flight 8 Problem FIXED But...Can this Launch Today? Could today be the day? Starship Flight 8 has been de-stacked for fixes, with a new launch schedule now set. Will SpaceX resolve the issues in time? Meanwhile, Blue Ghost has released stunning footage of its landing attempt, and top aerospace executives are shaping the next phase of space exploration. Let’s dive into it all on today’s episode of Great SpaceX! SpaceX Starship Flight 8 Problem FIXED But...Can this Launch Today? Many of us are still feeling the sting of Starship's scrubbed launch attempt on March 3. But setbacks like this are part of the journey, and SpaceX is wasting no time in making things right. Elon Musk later revealed that the issue was related to pressure instability, likely caused during fuel transfer from the tanks to the engines. Without the necessary pressure, the engines couldn’t generate enough thrust for liftoff. Naturally, this meant a full inspection was required—leading to a de-stack of the vehicle. SpaceX Starship Flight 8 Problem FIXED But...Can this Launch Today? Just hours after the missed opportunity on March 3, SpaceX got to work. By the morning of March 4, the Ship transport stand arrived at the launch site, signaling preparations for de-stacking. At 8:30 a.m. CST, the SQD arm retracted from the vehicle, and teams sealed open ports on Ship 34 in preparation. An hour later, S34 was officially de-stacked from Booster 15. Now, the real work begins. Engineers will examine the venting system, fine-tuning it to maintain stable pressure throughout fueling. Sensors will be inspected or added to monitor pressure levels more effectively. The fuel lines and tanks will also undergo checks to prevent leaks and ensure they maintain optimal pressure. Meanwhile, the turbo pump system may require adjustments to improve fuel flow and meet precise pressure demands.

Elon Musk Just Revealed First Starship Payload to Mars Next Year! This is incredible, y’all! Elon Musk has just revealed the first Starship payload mission to Mars set for next year, and the plan is absolutely insane. The timeline is ambitious, but if there’s one company that thrives on pushing boundaries, it’s SpaceX. Meanwhile, Falcon 9, after facing some challenges, is now accelerating at full speed, smashing records and reinforcing SpaceX's unmatched dominance in the industry. A perfect example of this is the Crew-10 mission, a major success that once again highlights SpaceX’s crucial role in supporting the International Space Station. Let’s dive into all of this on today’s episode of Great SpaceX! Elon Musk Just Revealed First Starship Payload to Mars Next Year! Starship is accelerating rapidly, but it is also facing significant challenges, particularly in its last two flights. The Ships have exploded prematurely, raising concerns and doubts about the program’s progress. However, despite these setbacks, Super Heavy has been consistently landing successfully with Mechazilla Arms, keeping our hopes alive for Starship’s long-term success. And just recently, that hope soared even higher as Elon Musk officially unveiled SpaceX’s boldest plan yet for Starship. Elon Musk Just Revealed First Starship Payload to Mars Next Year! He announced: “Starship departs for Mars at the end of next year, carrying Optimus. If those landings go well, then human landings may start as soon as 2029, although 2031 is more likely.” Wow. This is absolutely insane! First, SpaceX is targeting its first-ever payload mission to Mars by the end of 2026. This timeline is incredibly aggressive, giving SpaceX engineers only about a year and a half to prepare for and execute a historic interplanetary flight.

SpaceX's New 2025 Starship Interior Design UPDATE...:

6qmrGqFFogI
Our video content is referenced by video sources at these sites: A Starship flight to Mars, commanded by Optimus. That was perhaps Elon Musk’s most striking statement about the upcoming Mars mission—and it signals just how close we are to making human travel to Mars a reality. In preparation for that monumental journey, one of the most critical elements has taken center stage: the space we’ll call home during the trip. SpaceX has recently unveiled exciting new details about the Starship’s interior design, showcasing groundbreaking upgrades unlike anything we've seen before. So, just how impressive is the new Starship interior? Let’s find out in today’s episode of Great SpaceX. SpaceX's New 2025 Starship Interior Design UPDATE... After more than two years and eight Starship flight tests, SpaceX has reached remarkable milestones—most notably, the successful booster landing using the Mechazilla arms, one of the most complex recovery maneuvers attempted in aerospace history. Looking ahead, SpaceX is setting its sights on even more ambitious goals. The next round of flights will focus on deploying payloads and landing the Starship upper stage itself, laying the groundwork for future interplanetary missions—most significantly, the journey to Mars. As always, Elon Musk has provided an optimistic vision for what lies ahead. According to him, we could see an uncrewed mission to Mars by the end of next year, with a potential crewed mission to follow sometime between 2029 and 2031. SpaceX's New 2025 Starship Interior Design UPDATE... But we don’t have to wait until then to imagine how extraordinary that mission will be. The idea of not only traveling to another planet but also living aboard a spacecraft designed for comfort, functionality, and sustainability is nothing short of incredible. Over the years, numerous concepts have been proposed for the Starship interior. Among them, the six-story modular design has gained the most support. Its versatility, space optimization, and compatibility with Starship’s massive capacity make it ideal for transporting dozens of people on each mission.

Starship Flight 9 Checkouts Completed for Launch TODAY: The Countdown Begins!:

M0NfFIe2b58
Starship Flight 9 Checkouts Completed for Launch TODAY: The Countdown Begins! Are you ready to see Starship take to the skies? We’re getting very close to Flight 9—the mission that could mark the beginning of a new era for the Starship program. With a flight this important, it’s essential to understand the key steps and objectives involved. That’s exactly what this episode is here to do: break everything down so you can easily follow along and evaluate the mission’s success. If you’re ready, let’s dive in. As you know, Starship has now been fully stacked, setting the stage for its highly anticipated launch. On May 26, Elon Musk (https://x.com/elonmusk) confirmed, “If all goes well, Starship launches tomorrow,” referring to May 27, 2025. This statement signaled the final countdown to Flight 9—a mission packed with goals that could shape the future of the entire program. Starship Flight 9 Checkouts Completed for Launch TODAY: The Countdown Begins! Immediately after stacking, SpaceX carried out final systems checks to ensure everything was in top condition. These included the grid fin wiggle test for Booster 14 (B14) and the flap test for Ship 35 (S35). Both tests were completed successfully, indicating the hardware is ready for what could be one of Starship’s most critical missions yet. The launch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time, with fueling expected to begin about an hour beforehand. Around this time, the official live stream will also go live, allowing viewers from around the world to witness history in the making. While the pre-launch sequence might seem routine, it’s actually one of the most sensitive and crucial phases. SpaceX has to be especially cautious this time. In the previous mission, the first launch attempt was aborted just moments before liftoff. That incident highlighted the need for meticulous attention during final checks. Every system—from propellant loading to tank pressurization—must operate flawlessly. The water deluge system, which is used to suppress heat and acoustic energy at liftoff, will also be activated just before ignition. It has performed well in past missions, and there's confidence it will do so again. Starship Flight 9 Checkouts Completed for Launch TODAY: The Countdown Begins! These pre-flight steps, though easy to overlook, are vital to the success not only of Flight 9 but of all future missions. Reliability at this stage builds trust in the entire Starship system and ensures that launches can proceed without unnecessary delays or setbacks. Then comes the moment we've all been waiting for—the liftoff. After nearly three months of preparation, Flight 9 will take Starship on its next major test flight. The first milestone is straightforward yet essential: achieving a clean lift-off with all engines firing. Historically, some Starship flights have experienced engine issues immediately after clearing the pad, caused by stress and extreme conditions during ignition. This time, the stakes are even higher. Flight 9 marks the first mission using a fully reused booster—B14, which previously flew in Flight 7. Not only that, but 29 of the 33 Raptor engines onboard are also reused from that same mission.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C_L-qgHsE0The best comment: (brutal, but very funny :ROFL:)
By the time Elon gets to Mars there'll already be a Chinese restaurant open. But there's some raw truth there. There's now almost no chance SpaceX will be launching to Mars in the next available (2026) window.

The good news:

The FAA won't have to investigate, as it wasn't an actual flight test.
The launch stands and infrastructure were untouched, as the incident happened at the Massey's test site, a few miles away from Starbase itself.

The bad news:

Starship version 2 (V2, or Block 2), does seem to be somewhat cursed.

Starship's Flight 10 was scrubbed yesterday as well (this time due to weather), but this evening US time it finally launched precisely on time with no issues of any kind. The entire flight was overwhelmigly successful, with every planned test completed.

Here's a terrific shot of the Starship performing its controlled slow-speed mock 'landing' in the Indian Ocean, half way round the world — exactly in the targeted spot where the waiting buoy captured it on live video.

What's pretty interesting here is the color of the ship after its hypersonic return through the atmosphere, generating tremendous heat. The heatshield tiles were black, and it's unclear (at least to me!) whether the tiles changed color (are they meant to do that??), or whether we're seeing the heat-tarnished steel hull itself.

In my view, the explosion would NOT have happened if it was on land ... Why? ... Because it would not have tilted that way ... They LET it happen that way for a purpose.

A Closer Look At Starship's Upper Stage Landing:

FjEoAh_ciTw
Only a few hours ago, SpaceX released new angles of Starship's upper stage completing its landing burn, and they're pretty incredible. Not only do we get the full video from the buoy camera, but they also had a drone positioned right next to the ship as it flipped and splashed down. This gives us a much higher quality and complete picture of the damage the vehicle sustained, how the heat shield held up, the accuracy of the landing, and more. Here, I will go more in-depth into the new footage and the splashdown of the ship.

SpaceX vs NASA and China with New Method to Build Moonbase Alpha:

9ScyFp5eBMc
SpaceX vs NASA and China with New Method to Build Moonbase Alpha. How can the United States beat China in the new space race? The answer may come down to who builds a permanent Moon base first. NASA has a plan, but it’s slow, complicated, and tangled in red tape. Elon Musk thinks there’s a faster way. Cut the excess, skip the bureaucracy, and focus on one simple idea: one rocket for everything. That rocket is Starship — SpaceX’s bold vision for a lunar base that could change the game entirely. Let’s dive in — this is TechMap. SpaceX SHOCKED NASA and China with New Method to Build Moonbase Alpha. In essence, a permanent lunar base is humanity’s next foothold beyond Earth — something like a small town or research outpost planted on the Moon. The concept isn’t science fiction anymore. It would include habitats for astronauts to live and work, along with labs for scientific research. Power would come from solar arrays stretched across the gray regolith or perhaps compact nuclear reactors humming quietly through the lunar night. To sustain life, systems would recycle air, water, and waste, allowing crews to stay for months or even years at a time. The motivation goes beyond mere exploration. Because the Moon’s gravity is just one-sixth that of Earth, it offers a convenient launch point for missions deeper into the Solar System. Astronauts could test technologies needed for Mars expeditions while studying the Moon’s geology up close. There’s also a practical advantage: the Moon itself holds valuable resources. Water ice trapped in its polar craters could be turned into drinking water or rocket fuel. Mining lunar materials means less dependence on costly supply runs from Earth — a major step toward sustainable space operations. SpaceX vs NASA and China with New Method to Build Moonbase Alpha. That’s why nations with serious space ambitions are setting their sights on establishing a lunar base. China, partnering with Russia and others, aims to build one by the 2030s. Their vision includes laboratories, mining infrastructure, and reliable power systems, possibly nuclear. Officials in Beijing have hinted at welcoming international cooperation — on their terms. The United States, of course, isn’t sitting idle. NASA views the Moon as both a proving ground and a strategic necessity. The competition has sharpened since China’s Chang’e-6 mission planted flags on the lunar surface in June 2024, using material collected from basaltic plains. The message was unmistakable: they’re coming. For Washington, that has added a renewed urgency to get American astronauts not just back to the Moon, but to stay there.

Elon Musk Declared This about China Falcon 9 Clone Recovery Failed! Never Beat SpaceX:

PknzEa24o3U
Text that is under the video, quote: "Elon Musk Declared This about China Falcon 9 Clone Recovery Failed! Never Beat SpaceX... China’s Falcon 9 copy just blew up during its landing attempt on its first flight! Yet somehow, it’s still being hailed as a major success. Even more surprising, Elon Musk is openly cheering them on, saying their clone could surpass SpaceX’s Falcon 9 within the next five years. So what really happened up there? Why would Elon praise a competitor for copying his rocket? And does this thing actually stand a chance against the original? Let’s break it all down in today’s episode of Alpha Tech. Elon Musk Declared This about China Falcon 9 Clone Recovery Failed! Never Beat SpaceX... They were this close, just a little bit more, to pulling off the very first flight of Zhuque-3, the rocket many peop lle are calling “China’s Falcon 9 version 2.” For a moment, it felt like the whole world was watching, because this would’ve been China’s first partially reusable rocket capable of landing itself. But things went south fast. During the return burn, the booster caught fire, lost control, and came crashing down. One big boom, and the whole vehicle was basically reduced to a pile of scrap metal. Elon Musk Declared This about China Falcon 9 Clone Recovery Failed! Never Beat SpaceX... This rocket comes from LandSpace, one of China’s biggest private space companies. Their growth over the past few years has been comparable to SpaceX in the U.S., except for one big difference: SpaceX keeps climbing, while LandSpace just took a massive hit. After the Zhuque-3 booster blew up on December 3rd, the company’s stock tanked as investors started losing confidence in this “Falcon-9-clone.” But here’s the twist: even though the landing failed and the company’s value dropped, LandSpace is still celebrating, and they even got a compliment from Elon Musk. Why?" unquote
