As an ex military man and having seen active service on more than one occasion I know what true / real fear is. But I also know as a Hypnotist for over 30 years I know what false fear is.
False Evidence Appearing Real. As in mass media generated fear.
To me If the threat is in the past it is already gone If the threat is in the future it is in your imagination ( not real. ) If the threat is in the here and now then deal with it / act on it now. Otherwise Just chill and enjoy life .

Over the last year been contemplating how fragile everything is. Lots of folks struggling, lots of businesses going bust, a lot of people dying or getting real sick.

I didn't use to ever worry about the future, but my kid, suddenly that's a different matter. Been spending a lot of time stockpiling food, not panic buying (that stuff is real bad), but just planning for the worst case situation. So to answer the OP, a worse virus than the one we got. One that is closer to HIV that hits the immune system - you can't vaccinate for that - yet.

Thank you for your response as a father of 6 young adults I too am concerned for their future. But I truly believe in the power and intelligence of Unconditional Love and Oneness. I found training my mind to be in the present not the past or the future. As an Orphan From the age of 7 yrs old I understand that fear very well. I was fortunate to get great teachers to help me heal.
To me any method of self acceptance which helps you live here and now in the moment to moment is useful . One thing I have learnt is that the Past is dead the Future is Yet to come , Our only true power is in the present Here and Now.

To me this is a common fear amongst us males as we are expected to be the dominant sex however we were totally dependant on the female
as a baby / child when we came into this world. For me as adults we have to learn to see the equality of both sexes .
As a man learning to trust and be vulnerable is a major lesson to learn in life.

I hear you Diane I some times feel the same. The illusion of separateness is very strong on this planet.
For me The illusion of separateness is not the truth , For me the oneness / unity of all beings is the real truth.
So once I have identified the Problem eg, .Fear Lies and separateness I choose to be part of the solution by being Loving truthful and connected to the oneness.
Remember what you focus on expands . By focusing on the positive in our day to day experience and learning to live in the present moment and trust we become a small part of a great movement of unconditional Love Oneness and Peace.

Thank you for your reply you are so right it is not our job to change people or to make them believe what you believe. As far as I know it is our job to control our responses to out side events. So I focus on being the happy solution and surround my self with happy joyful people and music. I sing and dance and laugh a lot. Thank you for your response I feel for you that must be hard to live with.
I had a traumatic violent child hood which has taken some time to heal but I got there !
For me N.L.P and Hypnosis helped a lot especially the Quick Phobia Cure. (Cinema technique )
Also learning to live in the present moment and not being hard on my self when I failed.
This pathway ( mantra) from Ken Keyes Jr. May help.
I always remember that I have every thing I need to enjoy my Here and Now.
Unless I am letting my Consciousness be dominated by Demands and Expectations based on The Dead Past or imaginary Future.

The mind can create all sorts of fearful projections it is true.
To me our only true power is being present in the moment.
Like learning to meditate when the rational mind keeps wandering out of the now.
I have found it very useful to be kind to your mind and keep reprograming it to be in the here and now.

I am continuously calming the restless scanning of my rational mind, in order to perceive the finer energies that enable me to unitively merge with everything around me.

And to answer original question, i'm only afraid of dying. Not because of "me" dying, but because of all people around me who rely on me and hope i'll be around for years ahead. I can't handle the idea of just one day not being around for them, and the feeling i have experienced of pain when someone who made your life meaningful is not around anymore and unreachable, that emptiness and complete overwhelming pain.. that's what fears means to me. Not being able to be there to avoid them that pain, and knowing it will happen at some point :/
