May I ask who is saying they are baffled by this? The object looks like a tiny piece of dust on the window he's filming through whilst using a tripod. At 28 seconds panning out, it has a distinctive different change rate indicating it is only in focus at zoom. It also seems to move away from the edge of the Moon rather quicker than you'd expect and go out of focus much quicker than the Moon - indicates it is nearfield.

My dumb opinion :) ==> guessing it's an accidental lens effect. It would be huge if it were real, although the (accidental) effect is amazing and kind of beautiful imho

EDIT: Unfortunate no time is given as to when this was recorded ... might also be Jupiter. Not too sure but if we knew exactly when the video was taken we could confirm or rule those two planets out. (it is certainly not recent as Indiana doesn't look like that in the winter)

It doesn't look like your typical lens artifact ... but I certainly wouldn't rule that out.

I don't think he's filming through a window - there's no evidence of this and if you were trying out your new high powered lenses (as description tells), you wouldn't try them out through a window. Also the zooming action would increase the depth of field substantially, causing the artifact to blur and fade out on zooming in and become sharper on zooming out - we're seeing the opposite here. So for these two reasons I don't think its dirt on a window.

Interesting video, it could be another planet but also a huge mothership like the Death Star it would be that big...IMO This is still the most wicked piece of UFO footage to date....

That's not from the video though, that's from the image at the top of the page where the video is being hosted. Someone made that (as a composite), to depict something that isn't there. This is an actual frame-grab from the video, and the best I could manage of this object from the footage available.

Can't be Feb 15 if the description on the video page is correct. It says the video was taken in Indiana - looks like middle of summer in the video for Indiana. So the video isn't recent.

So ... Some of you may know I dabble in 3D art and visual effects, and I decided to make my own version of this video as a VFX project. During the process of me trying to match up the exact same scene - but with my version inside a VFX program, a few glaring things about this video stood out to me that, surprisingly to me, didn't occur to me until I got into the project.

I don't think this is Venus, a spec on a window, lens flare or a spaceship ... it seems to me this was made in After Effects or some other similar effects and compositing software for some very strong reasons. I won't explain here but maybe tomorrow I'll throw up a post in one of the Art threads with my video, and I'll explain the process I went through to make my version (which is way cooler BTW ;)), and the anomalies I discovered with this one in that process.

There's two major issues - one is regarding the zooming, and the other is in regards to shutter speed and the visual expectations surrounding that. I know, no one likes a debunking (go ahead, call me a "Debbie Downer"), except me, but I think the evidence is pretty strong, especially to those who understand cameras and lenses well.

I'll update this thread after I make the other post.

I'm guessing either CGI or the real deal. Neither would surprise me. Also I would be a little upset about either one.. If CGI, what a jerk. If the real deal it makes me feel kinda left behind because it looks man made. Seems sad that idea of mankind holding mankind back ya know?
