MOSCOW, April 19. /TASS/. Russia has announced a cessation of all hostilities until 00:00 Moscow time on April 21 and has urged Kiev to reciprocate, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated following a report in the Kremlin by Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.

Gerasimov informed the supreme commander-in-chief that the majority of the Kursk Region has been liberated from Ukrainian forces, and an enemy group has been encircled in a village in the Belgorod region.

TASS has reviewed the key points of the meeting.

Easter Truce

Guided by humanitarian considerations, Russia will halt all hostilities from 18:00 Moscow time on April 19 until 00:00 Moscow time on April 21.

"I order a ceasefire during this period. We expect the Ukrainian side to follow our example," Putin declared.

Russian troops "must remain vigilant to potential violations and provocations by the enemy, including any aggressive actions."

"We are aware that the Kiev regime has violated the agreement to refrain from strikes on energy infrastructure over 100 times."

Situation in the Special Operation Zone

"The situation along the contact line is stable and developing favorably for us. Russian forces are advancing systematically."

"In the border areas - specifically in the Kursk and Belgorod regions - after completing combat operations to secure these territories, reports will be provided separately."

Russia remains open to negotiations and welcomes the interest of the U.S., China, and other nations in pursuing a "just and peaceful resolution" to the Ukrainian crisis.

Gerasimov’s Report

Gerasimov reported that the Russian Armed Forces have liberated the majority of the districts in the Kursk Region previously invaded by Ukrainian forces.

"The main part of the region’s territory, covering approximately 1,260 square kilometers - 99.5% - has now been liberated."

"Operations to secure the Gornal area are nearing completion, with assault groups from the 810th Marines Brigade conducting combat missions against enemy units in Gornal and nearby groves."

Ukrainian units attempted to breach into Russian territory near Demidovka and Popovka in the Belgorod Region, but these efforts to insert significant enemy forces into Russian territory were thwarted.

"At present, there are no enemy forces in the Demidovka area; the territory has been cleared. Small infiltrated groups - up to 12 men - remain in the forest south of Popovka. These groups are under blockade, with ongoing efforts for their destruction and extraction, and the areas have been isolated.".

Trump has not been able to neutralize the neoconservatives in his surroundings. He has allowed General Kellogg, who is on the side if Ukrainians, to arrange for NATO, the Europeans and Ukraine's government to oppose the ceasefire Trump has tried to mediate. They are not ready to concede that the war is lost. Some still think there is a chance to win it.

Their aim is to keep the U.S. "in". For it to continue to provide intelligence, i.e. targeting data, to the Ukrainians. To entice Trump to deliver more money, more weapons and, if need be, more soldiers.

But Trump won't have that. He will rather walk away. Or that is at least what he is threatening to do here. It would be wise step. Otherwise it will be his war to lose.

In a year from now, during which the Europeans will waste more tens of billions, the Russian army will have crossed the Dnieper and may threaten to (again) march on Kiev.

That would probably be enough for them to finally accept reality.

NEW YORK, April 19. /TASS/. Ukraine will not become part of NATO; the issue of Kiev's accession to the alliance is not under discussion, according to Keith Kellogg, the US presidential special envoy for Ukraine and Russia.

"We've been very clear: NATO is off the table. You're not going to be part of it. That's something that's not new. We've been talking about that since 2008 when Ambassador Burns told Condoleezza Rice, this was a bridge too far," Kellogg stated on Fox News.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that, despite Vladimir Zelensky’s desire for Ukraine to join NATO, it will never happen. He also suggested that the Ukrainian conflict may have been triggered by Kiev’s ambitions to join the alliance.

As Bloomberg reported earlier, Washington presented its allies in Paris with proposals for a Ukrainian settlement. These include a refusal to discuss Kiev's NATO membership and the easing of sanctions against Russia. Additionally, the US draft stipulates that all territories liberated by Russia shall remain under Russian control. Discussions on these proposals are set to continue in London next week.

MOSCOW, April 19. /TASS/. The Russian Armed Forces hit the test site of the Ukrainian Sapsan missile defense system and the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems covering it the day before, the Defense Ministry reported, adding that the goals of the strike were achieved.

"Last night, the Russian Armed Forces conducted a group strike with land-and sea-based high-precision weapons and drones on the testing site of the Ukrainian Sapsan missile defense system and the Norwegian NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems covering it. The goals of the strike were achieved. All facilities have been destroyed," the statement said.

According to the ministry, Russian servicemen have hit Ukrainian ammunition depots and military-technical equipment in 142 areas over the day. Meanwhile, Russian air defense forces shot down six JDAM bombs, three HIMARS rockets and 151 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones.

Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy sites

Kiev has attacked Russian energy facilities ten times over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

"The Kiev regime continues its unilateral attacks on the Russian energy infrastructure. Over the past day, ten Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy facilities were recorded," the ministry said.

According to it, Kiev struck energy facilities in the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kherson Regions and the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Battlegroup South

Russian servicemen have liberated the Shevchenko settlement in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Defense Ministry said.

"The battlegroup South liberated the settlement of Shevchenko in the Donetsk People's Republic and defeated the manpower and equipment of nine Ukrainian brigades brigades," the statement emphasized.

According to the ministry, the Ukrainian armed forces lost more than 365 servicemen, two tanks, eight armored combat vehicles, 13 vehicles, seven field artillery guns, a US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launcher and two ammunition depots.

Battlegroup East

The enemy lost up to 265 servicemen, a tank, four armored combat vehicles, seven vehicles, three field artillery guns, an electronic warfare station and two ammunition depots," the statement noted.

Battlegroup Center

Russia’s battlegroup Center has wiped out up to 350 Ukrainian servicemen over the day, the Defense Ministry reported.

"The battlegroup Center has improved its frontline positions and defeated eight Ukrainian brigades. The enemy lost up to 350 servicemen," the statement said.

According to the ministry, the Ukrainian military also lost six armored combat vehicles, a German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicle and a French-made VAB armored personnel carrier, five vehicles, two field artillery guns and a US-made AN/TPQ-48 counterbattery station.

Belgorod direction

Russia’s battlegroup North eliminated up to 45 Ukrainian servicemen and destroyed two enemy armored combat vehicles over the past 24 hours, the Defense Ministry said.

"In the Belgorod area, the battlegroup North defeated three Ukrainian brigades near Popovka, Miropolye of the Sumy Region and Udy of the Kharov Region. The Ukrainian losses amounted to up to 45 servicemen, two armored combat vehicles and a field artillery gun," the ministry said.

So after a brief respite in the feelings of fear and panic, we are back there now

The logic of supporting Trump in order to wind down the Ukraine disaster and step back from the brink or WW3, was that he would be able to channel a neo isolationist strand of thinking to cancel the huge flows of weapons and money to Ukraine. This reality, or the threat of it – would force the Ukrainians to the table with Russia, and to the very unpleasant task that they face – to bargain away a chunk of their own territory in order to avoid losing still more.


This was always the kind of deal that they were facing, as was made obvious by the Wests failure to eject Russia from Ukraine together with Russia’s constitutional moves to fully annex those parts into Russia.


So when Trump won and was able to defy the elite and key back the flows of aid, it began to look like a resolution was coming. That is still the likelihood. Europe will find it hard to act separately from a USA who no longer backs them to the hilt.
However its (slightly) back to panic mode, as a European scheme to try to keep the death and horror going, and the march to nuclear oblivion, is being hatched . In London and Paris.

It was always these two who were the most blatant escalators in Europe. It is from the UK and France that an expeditionary force may be sent. Although European military power in terms of being able to project land power into eastern Europe is much less than we pretended, Europe still has a large military spend, and some attempts to build capability are being made. Recently there has been talk in the UK press of a ten fold increase in explosives production, which will be achieved by throwing together new factory capacity in shipping containers.

In this war, artillery is central, as are drones and missiles. Shell production in western Europe has been pitifully low, however no doubt attempts are being made to remedy this.

The plan appears to be to send a small expeditionary force of British/French , which may include Turkish units too, to the Odessa area via Romania. We will be told that this latest attempt to continue the war is a vital move to protect that area.
There have been some bizarre and very sinister goings on in Romania , and this is almost certainly the west’s attempts to prevent a anti war leader being elected there, who would NOT cooperate with the Anglo French escalation plan. Democracy is being destroyed to protect secret war plans.
It’s a bit puzzling what the plan hopes to achieve, as any such forces will be attacked mercilessly with hypersonic missiles. It will not be large enough to protect a large amount of territory, but it does keep their escalation dreams alive.


There have been some ominous rumblings in the British Army. There are video’s going round of squaddies saying that they are going to resign from the forces as they know where things are going, and have no wish to participate. I have watched these, and agree. I suspect that they have been briefed and trained in a way that suggests to them, that a deployment is coming. These individuals take the general view that ‘ukraine is not our war’, however I was not sure how extensive this feeling was (as echo tunnels give wrong impressions) until today. I bumped into a UK Vet who looked like a recent retiree and was fund raising for homeless veterans. Good guy, two tours in Iraq and now helping his comrades. I articulated this issue of some in the army getting disillusioned. I then asked him, in his view HOW MANY of his colleagues felt like that. He agreed with my view that its folly to go down this road. His response was ‘ ALL OF THEM’. This is encouraging. We know that many are signing out of the army. Starmer is putting wages up. That will fail so Starmers next move may be to try to prevent hem leaving legally. I do not know if there is a legal option. I do not know whether conscription laws can be used for this, but in general they are now talking about conscription. I think if they tried, they would face a lot of trouble, hopefully.

Once again, the USA is preventing the ending of the Ukraine war by proposing so-called ‘peace’ deals that they know won’t be acceptable to the Russians. (See article below, and note that Russia isn’t at the table)

The latest US proposal of conceding Crimea to Russia leaves out the 4 other regions that Russia has made clear are now part of Russia (Donbass, Lugansk, Kherson, Zaparozhia). It’s no coincidence that those 4 regions happen to have the richest mineral deposits that are coveted by the USA.

It’s becoming increasingly obvious that the USA’s agenda is to insert itself in Ukraine post-war by claiming rights to their minerals, most likely to maintain a USA military presence there to block Russia from territories that have now been integrated into Russia.

If the Trump regime really wanted this Ukraine war to end, they would just butt out of it completely, right now. Enough of this ‘peace-deal’ charade that only prolongs the killings.

First satellite images of the aftermath of explosions at the arsenal in the Vladimir region have been published

On April 23, 2025, a fresh satellite image of the 51st arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) of the Russian Ministry of Defense was published. It is located in the Kirzhachsky District of the Vladimir Region, 8 km from the city of Kirzhach and 60 km from Moscow.

I wrote the above from the perspective that the USA has BEEN run by a Uni Party of War through bribery of its political class since at least the JFK assassination. (Some will argue from before that.) The Ukrainian army lost more than 1,320 personnel, two tanks, 23 armored combat vehicles, including a HMMWV armored vehicle and a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle of US manufacture, 55 motor vehicles, seven multiple rocket launchers, 50 field artillery guns and eight electronic warfare stations in those frontline areas over the week, it specified.

Russian air defense forces shot down 993 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and 31 JDAM smart bombs over the week, the ministry reported.

"Over the week, air defense capabilities shot down 31 JDAM guided aerial bombs and 12 rockets of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system of US manufacture, four rockets of the Czech-made Vampire multiple launch rocket system and 993 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said.

▪️He ended up in Vladikavkaz, and later in Moscow, where he attended a music festival.

▪️A record with his data appeared in the EMIAS (Unified Medical Information and Analytical System of Moscow), where his address was listed as a recruitment point for contracts on Yablochkova Street, and his “apartment” was listed as a medical examination room number 302.

▪️He began living in the “Avangard” training center in the Moscow region. About 14 days later, he was stationed in a military unit in Ryazan.

▪️He wrote that he was “working” in Russia to save money, get a passport, and travel to Africa. Shortly thereafter, he found himself on the front line as part of the 137th Airborne Regiment, and on April 4, 2024, he was killed during an assault near Razdolovka and Vesely, as reported by his family in the obituary.

The military chief reported to President Putin that the Kursk Region had been completely liberated from Ukrainian troops.

"The enemy’s complete rout in the borderline Kursk Region creates conditions for further successful operations by our troops in other major frontline areas and brings the defeat of the neo-Nazi regime closer," the Russian leader said.

The Kiev regime’s venture has failed completely and the enemy has suffered huge losses, Putin said.

The Vatican broke with traditional protocol to ensure Zelensky was given a front-row seat at the funeral of Pope Francis, alongside Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron, The Telegraph reports.

Normally, arcane diplomatic rules dictate that world leaders are seated alphabetically according to their country's name in French, the traditional language of diplomacy. Under these rules, Mr. Zelensky would likely have been placed in the third row or farther back.

Instead, he was seated in the front row, 11 seats away from Trump, who was positioned to his right.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday expressed gratitude to North Korean soldiers and the country's leader, Kim Jong-un, for the role they played in repelling a Ukrainian incursion.

Close allies made their doubts clear to John Healey, the defence secretary, and pointed out that a force of that size would require a total of 256,000 troops on the ground over two years, accounting for rotations.

Foreign Military Sales program will include an AN/MPQ-65 radar (in a modernized version), two M903 launchers and an AN/MSQ-104 command post.

In conclusion: the men of the Korean special forces are undoubtedly heroes, having made the decision to support the Russian army in its fight against the Ukro-Nazis on Russian soil. With their resilience, bravery, and dedication, their high level of training and ruthlessness toward the enemy, the KPA SOF have etched their name into military history and gained invaluable combat experience — experience that will certainly aid the future training of the DPRK army in light of the changing nature of warfare. I need to be a little careful what I share here, for reasons that are very personal: (an element of) the British army is present and active in Estonia at the moment. I am not privy to any military plans, but that they are there has given me pause, for many months now. Granted, there may have been some presence there for many years anyway. Still.

To give this a little more flesh I would suggest reading Simplicius' latest piece which seems based on good intelligence (for a change) concerning Russian rear forces expansion along their western border with the Baltic states; it all heavily hints that perhaps Russian intelligence suspects that plans might be afoot from NATO to attempt something mind-boggingly dense such as an incursion of some kind. Let's really hope not. In any case maintaining a strong defence presence there makes perfectly good sense of course.

But the most instructive part came as a direct vindication of something I’ve been writing here for a long time—that a large portion of Russian regeneration of both manpower and materiel has been going toward standing up reserve army corps in the rear, which Shoigu had announced as far back as 2023.

So, Russia is reportedly producing 300 T-90Ms and sending virtually all of them to the newly-constituted rear reserve units. This vindicates those readers who’ve long suspected that Russia was “holding back the best stuff” and using lower tier gear on the active front. I myself was admittedly not a particular devotee of that line of reasoning, but it seems even I may have been wrong on that count. It certainly would explain the lack of recent sightings of T-90Ms, BMPT Terminators, and other such ‘fancy’ gear on the front—Russia would apparently rather save the good stuff for a clash against NATO itself.

On matters of war and peace, ministerial deceit is reported as news. Inconvenient facts are censored, demons are nurtured. The model is corporate spin, the currency of the age. In 1964, McLuhan famously declared, “The medium is the message.” The lie is the message now.

But is this new? It is more than a century since Edward Bernays, the father of spin, invented “public relations” as a cover for war propaganda. What is new is the virtual elimination of dissent in the mainstream.

The great editor David Bowman, author of The Captive Press, called this “a defenestration of all who refuse to follow a line and to swallow the unpalatable and are brave”. He was referring to independent journalists and whistle blowers, the honest mavericks to whom media organisations once gave space, often with pride. The space has been abolished.

The no-evidence rule also applies in London. The British Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, who spent £500,000 of public money flying to Australia in a private plane to warn the Canberra government that both Russia and China were about to pounce, offered no evidence. Antipodean heads nodded; the “narrative” is unchallenged there. One rare exception, former prime minister Paul Keating, called Truss’s warmongering “demented”.

Truss has blithely confused the countries of the Baltic and Black Sea. In Moscow, she told the Russian foreign minister that Britain would never accept Russian sovereignty over Rostov and Voronezh – until it was pointed out to her that these places were not part of Ukraine but in Russia. Read the Russian press about the buffoonery of this pretender to 10 Downing Street and cringe.

This entire farce, recently starring Boris Johnson in Moscow playing a clownish version of his hero, Churchill, might be enjoyed as satire were it not for its wilful abuse of facts and historical understanding and the real danger of war.

Vladimir Putin refers to the “genocide” in the eastern Donbas region of Ukraine. Following the coup in Ukraine in 2014 – orchestrated by Barack Obama’s “point person” in Kyiv, Victoria Nuland – the coup regime, infested with neo-Nazis, launched a campaign of terror against Russian-speaking Donbas, which accounts for a third of Ukraine’s population.

Overseen by CIA director John Brennan in Kyiv, “special security units” coordinated savage attacks on the people of Donbas, who opposed the coup. Video and eyewitness reports show bussed fascist thugs burning the trade union headquarters in the city of Odessa, killing 41 people trapped inside. The police are standing by. Obama congratulated the “duly elected” coup regime for its “remarkable restraint”.

In the US media the Odessa atrocity was played down as “murky” and a “tragedy” in which “nationalists” (neo-Nazis) attacked “separatists” (people collecting signatures for a referendum on a federal Ukraine). Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal damned the victims – “Deadly Ukraine Fire Likely Sparked by Rebels, Government Says”.

Professor Stephen Cohen, acclaimed as America’s leading authority on Russia, wrote, “The pogrom-like burning to death of ethnic Russians and others in Odessa reawakened memories of Nazi extermination squads in Ukraine during world war two. [Today] storm-like assaults on gays, Jews, elderly ethnic Russians, and other ‘impure’ citizens are widespread throughout Kyiv-ruled Ukraine, along with torchlight marches reminiscent of those that eventually inflamed Germany in the late 1920s and 1930s…

“The police and official legal authorities do virtually nothing to prevent these neo-fascist acts or to prosecute them. On the contrary, Kyiv has officially encouraged them by systematically rehabilitating and even memorialising Ukrainian collaborators with Nazi German extermination pogroms, renaming streets in their honour, building monuments to them, rewriting history to glorify them, and more.”

Today, neo-Nazi Ukraine is seldom mentioned. That the British are training the Ukrainian National Guard, which includes neo-Nazis, is not news. (See Matt Kennard’s Declassified report in Consortium 15 February). The return of violent, endorsed fascism to 21st-century Europe, to quote Harold Pinter, “never happened … even while it was happening”.

On 16 December, the United Nations tabled a resolution that called for “combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism”. The only nations to vote against it were the United States and Ukraine.

Almost every Russian knows that it was across the plains of Ukraine’s “borderland” that Hitler’s divisions swept from the west in 1941, bolstered by Ukraine’s Nazi cultists and collaborators. The result was more than 20 million Russian dead.

Setting aside the manoeuvres and cynicism of geopolitics, whomever the players, this historical memory is the driving force behind Russia’s respect-seeking, self-protective security proposals, which were published in Moscow in the week the UN voted 130-2 to outlaw Nazism. They are:

– NATO guarantees that it will not deploy missiles in nations bordering Russia. (They are already in place from Slovenia to Romania, with Poland to follow)
– NATO to stop military and naval exercises in nations and seas bordering Russia.
– Ukraine will not become a member of NATO.
– the West and Russia to sign a binding East-West security pact.
– the landmark treaty between the US and Russia covering intermediate-range nuclear weapons to be restored. (The US abandoned it in 2019)

These amount to a comprehensive draft of a peace plan for all of post-war Europe and ought to be welcomed in the West. But who understands their significance in Britain? What they are told is that Putin is a pariah and a threat to Christendom.

Russian-speaking Ukrainians, under economic blockade by Kyiv for seven years, are fighting for their survival. The “massing” army we seldom hear about are the thirteen Ukrainian army brigades laying siege to Donbas: an estimated 150,000 troops. If they attack, the provocation to Russia will almost certainly mean war.

In 2015, brokered by the Germans and French, the presidents of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France met in Minsk and signed an interim peace deal. Ukraine agreed to offer autonomy to Donbas, now the self declared republics of Donetsk and Luhansk.

The Minsk agreement has never been given a chance. In Britain, the line, amplified by Boris Johnson, is that Ukraine is being “dictated to” by world leaders. For its part, Britain is arming Ukraine and training its army.

Since the first Cold War, NATO has effectively marched right up to Russia’s most sensitive border having demonstrated its bloody aggression in Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and broken solemn promises to pull back. Having dragged European “allies” into American wars that do not concern them, the great unspoken is that NATO itself is the real threat to European security.

In Britain, a state and media xenophobia is triggered at the very mention of “Russia”. Mark the knee-jerk hostility with which the BBC reports Russia. Why? Is it because the restoration of imperial mythology demands, above all, a permanent enemy? Certainly, we deserve better.

The US has also reportedly agreed that only future military aid to Kiev would count toward its contribution to the investment fund. Earlier, Washington insisted that past military aid should also be included in the agreement.

The development comes after Sviridenko signed a preliminary memorandum on the resource deal earlier this month. Despite this, Trump later criticized the Ukrainian leadership for slow progress, demanding the agreement be signed “immediately.”

The deal was widely expected to be signed in late February during Vladimir Zelensky’s visit to the White House. However, the Ukrainian leader entered into an open spat with Trump, who accused Zelensky of “gambling with World War III” and showing reluctance to accept a ceasefire with Russia.

By this agreement, whatever land ends up being labeled the "Ukraine" on maps will have the U.S. playing the major role in mineral and energy resource development.

But ... I presume that whatever land, such as the Donbas, ends up being labeled either within Russia or allied with Russia will have Russia playing the major role in mineral and energy development.

Putin cannot return to his people, after this active conflict ends, with a map showing the same Ukraine borders as existed in January of 2022, before his Special Military Operation began.

As a result, both Great Britain and the European Union will have to decide whether they want to kiss up to Putin or up to Trump to get the energy and minerals they need. That will not be an easy choice for them.

Bottom line ... Trump has just pushed himself to the front of the line, ahead of Great Britain, for access to the portion of Ukraine's mineral and energy wealth that "goes West." I don't doubt that brought a smile to Putin's face.

People from the small west African nation Togo have been “captured and detained” by Ukrainian armed forces after taking part “in military operations alongside Russian armed forces”, Togolese authorities said Friday.

In a statement seen by AFP, Togo’s foreign ministry said that the “majority of compatriots, in particular young students, had left Togo under alleged scholarships offered by structures claiming to be based in Russia”.

The ministry called on citizens, “particularly young people who wish to pursue their studies abroad, to exercise utmost vigilance”.

It “urges them to verify the authenticity of scholarship offers before making any commitment, and to contact the relevant departments or any other ministry concerned… to obtain reliable and secure information before any departure abroad, particularly to Russia”.

In March, the Martin Luther King Movement (MMLK), Togo’s leading human rights organisation, alerted the authorities to the case of a Togolese student captured on the battlefield and imprisoned in Ukraine.

“Having received his study visa at the Russian embassy in Cotonou, the compatriot left Togo for Russia on August 21, 2024,” MMLK said in a statement.

“Arriving in Russia, he was forced to join the army to go to the front in Ukraine. It was there that he was seriously wounded, captured and thrown in prison,” it said.

The press also reported in recent months several cases of African nationals, often students or former prisoners, notably from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon and Benin, fighting with Russian forces on the Ukrainian front.

Warning about alleged university scholarships in Russia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Foreign Togolese informs the public that the Togolese authorities have recently been seized of cases of Togolese nationals, captured and detained by the Ukrainian armed forces while participating in military operations alongside the Russian armed forces in the context of the current conflict.

According to the information collected, the majority of these compatriots, especially young students, have left Togo as part of alleged scholarships offered by structures presenting themselves as based in Russia.

Faced with this worrying situation, the ministry calls on citizens, especially young people wishing to continue their studies abroad, to be very vigilant. It urges them to verify the authenticity of scholarship offers before any commitment, and to contact its competent services or any other ministry concerned, in particular the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, to obtain reliable and secure information before any departure abroad, in particular to Russia.

The ministry is actively working with certain diplomatic partners to shed light on this situation and to provide, as far as possible, the necessary assistance to the people concerned.

It reaffirms its constant commitment to ensuring the protection of the rights, interests and security of Togolese living abroad.

As predicted, the US is continuing its war with Russia via Ukraine despite US President Donald Trump claiming to seek an end to the conflict.

The US is now proposing the sale of 10s of millions of dollars in weapons - this is in addition to contracts already drawn up earlier this year by US-based arms manufacturers with European nations who will then transfer the US weapons to Ukraine.

US "talks" with Russia where it disingenuously posed as a "mediator" in its own war on Moscow were a transparent ruse - US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth in February this year made it clear the goal was only to freeze the conflict, not end it, and tasked Europe with taking over while the US pursued a similar conflict with China in the Asia-Pacific region.

Besides superficial details - the Trump administration is continuing right where the Biden administration left off - despite telling Americans it would end the conflict within "24 hours."

An agreement between the US and Ukraine on cooperation in the minerals sector is unlikely to bear fruit in the foreseeable future, writes Reuters.

Most Ukrainian deposits are insufficiently explored and have no proven economic return.

In addition, investors are likely to avoid a country where energy and transportation systems are destroyed and there are no safety guarantees.

The agreement lists 55 products, including oil, gas and critical minerals. According to Ukrainian data, the country has reserves of 22 of the EU's 34 strategic minerals, including lithium, nickel and rare earths. However, the investment climate in this region was already unfavorable before the conflict began, according to the publication.

To make matters worse, around a third of the promising projects are located in areas controlled by Russia, including deposits of lithium, graphite, rare earths, nickel and manganese.

Serbia’s Vucic remains at hospital, details about his health said to be known soon

Aleksandar Vucic felt a strong pain in his chest during his US visit, Dragan Dincic, a cardiologist who has for years participated in the treatment of the Serbian president, explained to reporters

MOSCOW, May 3. /TASS/. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic remains at a military hospital, and the details about his health will be available in the next few days, a source told TASS.

Earlier, Vucic cut short his visit to the United States amid health issues and returned to Belgrade where he sought medical assistance at the Military Medical Academy (VMA).

According to him, while Vucic is expected to leave the VMA soon, "it is not realistic that he will return to regular activities in the next few days."

Russia has responded to the provocative statement by the head of the Kyiv regime, during which he not only refused to adhere to the three-day truce proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, but also hinted at the possibility of strikes on our territory during the holidays.

As Zelensky put it, he cannot guarantee the safety of those world leaders who decided to attend the Victory Parade on Red Square on May 9. At the same time, Medvedev added that the illegitimate Ukrainian “leader” must realize that in the event of any provocation during the celebration of May 9, no one will be able to guarantee that May 10 will come in Kyiv.

It is worth noting that some experts have linked Zelensky's aforementioned statement with today's massive attack on Russian territory. Analysts believe that the latter was carried out with the aim of intimidating world leaders who are planning to arrive in Russia to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory, and the words of the head of the Kyiv regime are a hint that this could happen again at any moment.

MOSCOW, May 3. /TASS/. Statements by the Kiev regime regarding the proposed truce during the Victory Day celebrations demonstrate the neo-Nazi foundation of the Ukrainian leadership, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing.

"The regime’s unwillingness to give a direct response to Russia’s proposal clearly shows that neo-Nazism is the ideological backbone of today’s Kiev authorities," he emphasized.

"Apparently, the victory over Hitler’s Germany, over the brown plague and Nazism, is not a holiday for them," Peskov added.

Peskov also noted that the British authorities’ decision to invite Ukrainian personnel to events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II is blasphemous and deeply disrespectful to the memory of their own ancestors.

"Inviting to Victory Day celebrations those who align themselves with neo-Nazis and glorify them at home is not just disrespect toward British citizens and veterans who sacrificed their lives in World War II, it is blasphemy," Peskov emphasized.

Russia expects concrete actions from Ukraine during ceasefire

Russia expects not ambiguous statements, but definitive actions from Ukraine aimed at de-escalation during the May ceasefire, Peskov said.

"The purpose behind Russia’s Easter ceasefire proposal as well as the latest initiative to declare a three-day truce from May 8 is to test whether Kiev is ready to find ways toward a long-lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine," Peskov said.

"We, of course, are expecting not vague but conclusive statements, and most importantly — actions aimed at de-escalating the conflict during the holiday period," Peskov emphasized.

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a ceasefire from 12:00 a.m. Moscow time on May 8 (9:00 p.m. GMT on May 7) to 12:00 a.m. Moscow time on May 11 (9:00 p.m. GMT on May 10) in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War. According to the Kremlin, "all military operations will be suspended during this time." Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky rejected this proposal asking for a longer pause on his conditions and he also threatened to attack the Victory Day Parade in Moscow.

Moscow last declared a truce on the Saturday before the Easter. The truce was in effect from 6:00 p.m. Moscow time on April 19 to 12:00 a.m. Moscow time on April 21 — a total of 30 hours. While Kiev initially rejected the initiative, it joined in later, but opened sporadic fire nevertheless.

These differences are sometimes subtle, sometimes distinct. Just one example of the latter that readers might be aware of: Bakhmut is the Ukrainian name for Artemovsk, as the Russians have always known it.

In one of the areas, Russian troops have begun using diver groups to covertly penetrate the rear of Ukrainian units.

Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen note that this is not about regular infantry — the divers have good special training, and because of underwater movement, it is impossible to detect such fighters using thermal imaging equipment, which significantly complicates monitoring their routes.

The use of such tactics is probably due to the difficulties of logistics and transporting personnel using boats and jet skis. Despite their speed and maneuverability, these vehicles become easy targets for FPV drones, which prevent Russian soldiers from safely reaching the shore. In this regard, the Russian command is probably trying to slowly and covertly accumulate these divers for further assaults and attempts to consolidate Ukrainian positions.

It is also possible that the divers not only act as attack aircraft, but also deliver provisions and ammunition in sealed containers. In addition, they can conduct engineering reconnaissance before large-scale landing operations.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

Elements of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on clusters of manpower and hardware of one mechanized brigade, one tank brigade, one jaeger brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and two territorial defense brigades close to Sadki, Ryasnoye, Velikaya Pisarevka (Sumy region), and Granov (Kharkov region).

▪️ The AFU losses amounted to up to 150 troops, three tanks, two armored fighting vehicles, and six motor vehicles. One ammunition depot was wiped out.

The Zapad Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions. Strikes were delivered on formations of two mechanized brigades, one mountain assault brigade, one assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and one territorial defense brigade near Peski, Kupyansk, Grigorovka, Kutkovka (Kharkov region) and Karpovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

▪️ The AFU losses amounted to more than 225 troops, one armored fighting vehicle, six motor vehicles, and two Western-made artillery guns. Three ammunition depots were neutralised.

Units of the Yug Group of Forces improved the tactical situation. They inflicted fire damage on manpower and hardware of two mechanized brigades, one airmobile brigade, and one territorial defense brigade near Serebryanka, Druzhkovka, Seversk and Zarya (Donetsk People's Republic).

▪️ The AFU losses amounted to more than 315 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, and eight field artillery guns.

The Tsentr Group's units improved the situation along the front line. They inflicted losses on formations of two mechanized brigades and one jaeger brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, one special forces brigade, and two national guard brigades close to Udachnoye, Dimitrov, Novopavlovka, Novosergeyevka, and Grodovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

▪️ The AFU losses amounted to up to 465 troops, one tank, four armored fighting vehicles, six motor vehicles, and four artillery guns.

The Vostok Group's units continued to advance to the depths of the enemy's defense. They inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of two mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one marine brigade, and one territorial defense brigade near Bogatyr, Fedorovka, Komar and Novopol (Donetsk People's Republic).

▪️ The enemy losses amounted to up to 170 troops, one armored fighting vehicle, five motor vehicles, and four field artillery guns. Two electronic warfare stations were neutralized.

Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on units of one mechanized brigade and two coastal defense brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Malaya Tokmachka, Pavlovka (Zaporozhye region), and Antonovka (Kherson region).

▪️ The enemy sustained losses of up to 70 troops, five motor vehicles, one U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS launcher, and two field artillery guns. Two electronic warfare stations and one ammunition depot were neutralized.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack drones, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces have hit infrastructure of a military airfield, repair plant of the aviation industry, ammunition depots, temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 142 areas.

Air defense systems destroyed four JDAM guided aerial bombs and four HIMARS MLRS projectiles, as well as 123 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

Ukrainian formations have again attacked the positions of the Russian Armed Forces in the Glushkovsky district. According to Telegram channels, a small group of the enemy, advancing from the direction of Ryzhevka, was spotted in the vicinity of the Tetkino railway station on the southern outskirts of the village of the same name. Yes, that's a source of confusions, but my confusions had a simpler cause. I was listening with half deaf Yankee ears to someone speaking proper nouns with a fluent Russian accent ... with no accurate spelling available of what he was saying. He could have said "Moscow" and it might have taken me a couple of rewinds and re-listens to be sure he hadn't just said "Kyiv" (well, not quite that bad ... but close.)

I suspect (but don't have the expertise to know for sure!) that some of this confusion, that's always been present in the war reporting since the start of the SMO, lies in the differences between the Russian and Ukrainian names for towns and villages.
Yes, that's a source of confusions, but my confusions had a simpler cause. I was listening with half deaf Yankee ears to someone speaking proper nouns with a fluent Russian accent ... with no accurate spelling available of what he was saying. He could have said "Moscow" and it might have taken me a couple of rewinds and re-listens to be sure he hadn't just said "Kyiv" (well, not quite that bad ... but close.)

It's true if we look at the current/new German parliament (Bundestag). But the BSW (a leftist party that split off from the Linke (Left) Party) is also pro-peace and good relations with Russia.
They did not make it into the Bundestag by a hair's breadth with slightly under 5% (which is the hurdle to take). They were actually very strong months before the General Election (10 % or more) but made some vital mistakes in a state (Bundesland) election, and then the Linke Party (who were weak) could steal lots of voters from them and reached the Bundestag instead (unfortunately).
With the BSW in the Bundestag and the AfD at nearly 25% we could have almost a 30% resistance potential.
