In today's update, Alexander Mercouris says that in the video he made where he mentions the Russians filing numerous court cases, he had relied heavily upon a video which he thought had been made by Yanis Varoufakis but which turned out to be an AI fake. He then said the number of AI fakes on YouTube are increasing exponentially (my words) and wondered why YT aren't doing more to weed them out. I think we've all been taken in by AI fakes in recent weeks and they're sometimes very hard to spot and so easy to compromise such a valuable thread.

My own summary: the complaint was filed in a Moscow court two weeks ago, and "if the central bank wins, it could seek enforcement against Euroclear's assets in other jurisdictions, especially those deemed "friendly" by Russia. The Bank of Russia may attempt to enforce the Russian court's decision against Euroclear in China, Hong Kong, the UAE, Kazakhstan and other friendly jurisdictions."
The following was reported by Reuters on 15 December:
https://www.reuters.com/business/russias-central-bank-seeks-230-billion-damages-belgiums-euroclear-moscow-court-2025-12-15
Russia seeks $230 billion in damages from Euroclear over seized assets
MOSCOW, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Russia's central bank has filed a lawsuit in Moscow seeking $230 billion in damages from Euroclear, marking the first step in what the Kremlin has warned will be a legal nightmare for the EU over plans to use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
The European Union wants to tap part of the roughly 210 billion euros worth of Russian central bank assets frozen in Europe after Moscow invaded Ukraine in 2022 to back a loan for Kyiv's military and civilian needs in 2026 and 2027.
EU leaders agreed on Friday to indefinitely freeze the assets, arguing they must support Ukraine because if they don't Moscow could one day attack NATO - a claim Russia denies.
Legal experts expect Moscow's Commercial Court to issue a swift ruling against Euroclear, the Belgium-based depository that holds most of the assets. The court said it received the central bank’s claim on December 12, demanding 18.2 trillion roubles - the full value of Russia’s frozen sovereign assets.
If the central bank wins, it could seek enforcement against Euroclear's assets in other jurisdictions, especially those deemed "friendly" by Russia.
Euroclear did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
RUSSIA WARNS EU AGAINST USING ITS ASSETS
Russia has repeatedly warned the EU (https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/how-might-russia-react-any-eu-decision-use-its-frozen-assets-ukraine-2025-12-11/) that using its sovereign reserves amounts to theft, undermines confidence in central banks and the euro, and has vowed harsh retaliation, including seizing European private investors’ holdings in Russia.
"What rational investor will hold its securities in Euroclear, in euro or in the EU, if they understand that their property rights are not respected and their assets can be taken away under any pretext," Russian President Vladimir Putin's investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev told Reuters.
Russia's central bank said (https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/russian-central-bank-says-eu-plans-use-its-assets-are-illegal-2025-12-12/) on December 12 that EU plans to use its assets were illegal and it reserved the right to employ all available means to protect its interests.
Implementation would be challenged in "national courts, judicial authorities of foreign states and international organizations, arbitral tribunals and other international judicial instances," it said.
RUSSIA MAY CHASE EUROCLEAR ABROAD
"The Bank of Russia may attempt to enforce a Russian court's decision against Euroclear in China, Hong Kong, the UAE, Kazakhstan and other friendly jurisdictions, if such assets can be identified," said Gleb Boyko from NSP law firm.

Some thoughts regarding the Ukrainian drone attack that targeted President Putin
Scott Ritter
Dec 31, 2025
The attack meets two of the criterion set forth in the “Fundamentals of State Policy of the Russian Federation on Nuclear Deterrence”, published on December 3, 2024, regarding acts of aggression designed to be deterred by Russia’s nuclear deterrence forces.
This includes “Aggression by any state from a military coalition (bloc, alliance) against the Russian Federation and (or) its allies is considered as the aggression by this coalition (bloc, alliance) as a whole”, and “Aggression against the Russian Federation and (or) its allies by any non-nuclear state with the participation or support of a nuclear state is considered as their joint attack.”
Ukraine operates as part of a NATO bloc whose stated objective is the strategic defeat of Russia. Ukraine’s targeting of the Russian President constitutes “actions by an adversary affecting elements of critically important state or military infrastructure of the Russian Federation, the disablement of which would disrupt response actions by nuclear forces.”
Had the Ukrainian attack succeeded, Russia would have carried out massive nuclear retaliation against all of Europe.
I don’t think the world understands how close it came to nuclear Armageddon.
Russia has no choice but to re-establish deterrence modalities by physically destroying Ukraine as it currently exists.
The current Ukrainian government cannot be viewed as a negotiating partner, but rather as a terrorist entity that must be eliminated in its totality.
I believe the Trump administration understands this.
Europe does not.
The examination of the drone debris by Russian special services will provide specific technical data pertaining to the targeting data used by Ukraine, which in turn will point to specific sources and methods used to collect and prepare this data for use by Ukraine.
In short, there can be no doubt Russia possesses incontrovertible intelligence information that establishes a European connection to the Ukrainian attack on President Putin.
Europe must be put on notice that it is culpable in the actions of the Zelensky regime, and that any effort or actions that facilitate continued Ukrainian strikes against the critical national security infrastructure of the Russian Federation (the Russian President, as the sole authority for release of Russian nuclear weapons, fits this definition) will be treated as a hostile act by Europe capable of triggering a Russian nuclear response.
In the coming days and weeks, one can expect to see Russian actions designed to target and eliminate the totality of the Zelensky regime.
Anything less than this would make moot the purpose of a Russian nuclear doctrine in the first place, and Russia under President Putin does not have a history of engaging in meaningless word games at the strategic level.
2026 will be the last year Ukraine in its current manifestation exists.
The question now is whether the same can be said about Europe.

What I find despicable is that military attacks, including retribution, mostly kill innocent people and not the perpetrators. This has always been the case and always will be. We’re all sitting ducks in this debacle, with no say whatsoever in the actions of our incompetent, self-serving, governments who don’t care about their countries, let alone the people in them. That we are considered by them to be collateral damage is dismissive and demeaning to every one of us.
So if the Russians ARE able to eliminate the entire Zelensky regime then maybe, just maybe, UK/EU leaders might be reminded of their own mortality, and think again.

🍧🍨🍦🥧Dear compatriots, residents of great Russia!
In the magical hour when the chimes ring out, the year 2026 will enter our homes! I sincerely congratulate you on this bright, truly family holiday!
Our people lived through 2025 with honor and dignity — The Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. It strengthened our spirit, reminding us of glorious pages of history, and brought new common victories, which we, as always, achieved together. These achievements have become a solid foundation for the main theme of the coming year.
The upcoming 2026 is special. It has been declared by our President as the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, and there is a deep meaning in this. By virtue of my profession, I often reflect on what constitutes the strength of a state. And our enduring advantage is in its incredible diversity and yet unshakable unity.
Our ancestors have repeatedly proven: as long as we are united, we are invincible.
Great Russia is a wonderful home where simple and amazing, talented and open people of different nationalities live and work side by side. In common affairs, in daily support, in holidays and work, in common struggle and trials, we are one big and friendly family.
May the coming year become for all of us a time of new achievements and strengthening of that unbreakable bond that makes Russia strong, prosperous, and a beloved homeland for every one of its residents.
🍰🎂🍮🍭🍬🍫🍿Happy New Year 2026, dear friends!

The issue here I think is one of arrogance: why should Russia have to produce evidence? Some nerve the 'Western' government puppets have; they still haven't, after repeated requests from the Russian government, yet provided the names of those butchered by the Ukrainians - Botsman et al - in Bucha.

Well said Richard on X (https://x.com/ricwe123/status/2006370785036779633) (below). If I were Vladimir Putin I'd be extremely careful in my dealings with the US regardless its figurative 'head'; to the point of playing them very carefully and keeping them at arms length. Perhaps this is what they are doing anyway. Still, caution is the watchword here. My own view is that this was a (fortunately) failed attack with British origin, not necessarily the US this time although CIA complicity can't be entirely dismissed; the terrorist nature speaks to decades' old sabotage tactics honed during WW2 and through Gladio ops (stay-behinds). Those fingerprints were all over the Nord Stream incident - what better way to 'Keep Germany down and Russia out', heh.
Anyway, back to more recent affairs:
-------------------------
Apparently Russian President Vladimir Putin stayed in the Valdai Presidential Palace in Novgorod region because Donald Trump wanted him pinned there for another call.
US intelligence used that very communication to lock onto his location and pass it straight to Ukraine.
Let's be real,these weren’t "peace talks"
They were bait.
A trap.
A dressed-up ambush packaged as diplomacy, a pre-kill handshake from Washington’s war-hungry establishment.
Was Trump knowingly in on it?
Who knows.
But it wouldn’t take much to convince him that a drone strike is just "tough negotiating"
Whether he knew or not, the outcome is the same: it looks like NATO just made a play to eliminate Russia’s head of state.
Period.
So what does this say?
That negotiations with Washington are a sick joke.
They aren’t conversations, they’re intelligence-gathering stunts, sugar-coated in false goodwill.
Iran learned that lesson through Israel.
Russia, through Ukraine.
And once again, the argument becomes obvious: talking to Washington is pointless.
Either their presidents are powerless figureheads, or they’re fully complicit.
In both cases, there’s no reason to take a single word from them at face value.

Russian Defense reveals details of Kiev attempted attack on Putin’s residence:
Key points from the briefing by Major General Alexander Romanenko, Commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces’ Missile Defense:
Between December 28-29, 2025, Kiev attempted a large-scale terrorist attack using 91 long-range drones targeting the Russian president’s residence in Novgorod region.
The attack was launched from the Ukrainian regions of Sumy and Chernihiv and carried out along multiple routes through the skies over Bryansk, Smolensk, Tver, and Novgorod, using fixed-wing drones flying at very low altitudes.
All drones were completely destroyed during the aerial engagement, with no casualties or damage reported.
Drone shootdown tally:
49 drones over Bryansk
1 drone over Smolensk
41 drones over Novgorod
The attack was repelled using air defense systems, mobile fire units, and electronic warfare systems.
The nature of the attack, the number of drones, and their flight paths confirm it was a carefully planned, multi-stage, and targeted operation.
Russian forces confirmed that the presidential residence sustained no damage and that all units operated in high coordination and efficiency, successfully completing their combat mission.

Ukrainian Armed Forces drones attacked the Kherson region on New Year's Eve, killing and wounding dozens of civilians. - today
https://topcor.ru/uploads/posts/2026-01/thumbs/85d299cd58_output.webp
On the night of January 1, 2026, the Kyiv regime committed a monstrous war crime. A squadron of Ukrainian kamikaze drones carried out a targeted terrorist attack on a café and hotel in Khorly on the Black Sea coast in the Kherson region, where people were celebrating the New Year. Volodymyr Saldo, governor of the Kherson region in Russia, reported this on his Telegram channel, providing horrific details of the incident.
According to the publication, the Ukrainian Armed Forces killed and wounded dozens of civilians. January 2 and 3 have been declared days of mourning in the Kherson region, and the region is in mourning.
"According to preliminary reports, more than 50 people were injured, 24 died. The figures are being clarified... Many were burned alive. A child died. This crime, in essence, is on par with the Odessa Trade Union House."
– wrote Saldo.
He clarified that one of the Ukrainian kamikaze UAVs was deliberately loaded with an incendiary mixture. It was precisely this type of incendiary mixture, which is extremely difficult to extinguish, that the Kyiv regime used to burn fields in the Kherson region this summer to destroy the harvest.
"Now they've deliberately burned people. This is what the "peace" Zelensky says he's striving for looks like. The particularly cynical thing is that the attack was carried out after the intelligence officer's work—almost as the chimes of midnight struck."
– added Saldo.
He explained that due to the massive fire, many people could not be saved. The fire was extinguished only in the early morning, revealing a horrific scene of ashes. Doctors are currently fighting to save the lives of those rescued. The governor promised to provide all necessary support to those in need.

"There is no doubt that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the Kherson region was planned in advance, with UAVs deliberately targeting civilians."
– the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the incident.
Among the victims were six minors aged between 6 and 17 years old.
Miroshnik noted that Ukrainian citizen Volodymyr Zelenskyy spent over 20 minutes in his New Year's address talking about how Ukraine wants peace with Russia, while at the same time, Ukrainian Armed Forces drones were flying to kill people in Khorly.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 A five-year-old boy was killed after a Ukrainian drone struck a civilian car in Kherson Region, Governor Vladimir Saldo said. His mother, grandfather, and grandmother were wounded and hospitalized.
🇷🇺🇺🇦 On New Year’s Eve, Ukrainian drones carried out a deliberate strike on a civilian gathering in the Kherson region, hitting a café and a hotel on the Black Sea coast in Khorly.
Three UAVs struck the site just after a reconnaissance drone had identified the crowd near midnight. One of the drones carried an incendiary mixture, triggering a massive fire. Many victims were burned alive, making rescue impossible until early morning. Preliminary reports indicate at least 24 people killed and over 50 injured, including children. One child died after burning alive; four others were wounded. Regional governor Vladimir Saldo said the bodies were almost completely burned, resembling the aftermath of a nuclear blast.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said EU and NATO leaders should understand that their financial and military support is directly killing civilians. She compared the attack to the 1943 Khatyn massacre, calling it an expression of neo-Nazi hatred and dehumanization carried out under the banner of “democracy.”
Dmitry Medvedev likewise compared the strike to Khatyn, calling it deliberate mass murder and stating that inevitable and swift retribution would follow against both those who carried out the attack and those who ordered it.
Kherson region authorities said all necessary assistance will be provided to the victims and their families.

"We regard such a behavior as another confirmation of Mr. Turk's political bias and unwillingness to provide a principled assessment of Kiev's criminal actions," he emphasized. "We await your appropriate response as well as an assessment from respective special procedures of the HRC. After all, its abscence would amount to silent cover up of yet another crime committed by the Kiev clique, which has shifted to a policy of state terrorism."
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told journalists earlier in the day that overnight to December 29 the Kiev regime had attempted a terrorist attack on President Vladimir Putin’s state residence in the Novgorod Region with the use of 91 long-range combat drones. All of them were jammed by Russian electronic warfare tools, he said, adding that no casualties or damage were reported.
In turn, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said that during a phone call with Trump, Putin drew attention to Kiev’s attack, which took place "almost immediately" after the US-Ukraine talks in Mar-a-Lago, and warned that it would not go "unanswered." The Russian leader also told Trump that Moscow’s position in negotiations to resolve the conflict would be revised.

IN BRIEF: Ukrainian army carries out drone strike on civilians in Kherson Region
According to preliminary reports, over 24 people, including a child, were killed, and another 29 people, among them five kids, suffered injuries
MOSCOW, January 1. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army carried out a drone attack on a cafe and a hotel in the village of Khorly in the Kherson Region, where civilians were celebrating the New Year, Governor Vladimir Saldo said.
According to preliminary reports, over 24 people, including a child, were killed, and another 29 people, among them five kids, suffered injuries.
TASS has collected the key information about the attack.
Drone strike
Saldo said that three Ukrainian drones had hit a cafe and a hotel in Khorly in the Black Sea coast village of Khorly, where civilians were celebrating the New Year.
The strike caused a fire that engulfed 500 square meters and was put out at 8:40 a.m. Moscow time (5:40 a.m. GMT), the governor’s spokesman Vladimir Vasilenko told TASS.
The Russian Investigative Committee launched a criminal investigation based on Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Terrorist Attack"), committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko said.
Casualties
As many as 29 people were taken to the hospital, among them children born in 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2019, Vasilenko specified.
Thirteen of those injured are hospitalized in Crimea and the Kherson Region. Six of them are in serious conciliation, Assistant Health Minister Alexey Kuznetsov told TASS.
Terrorist attack and Kiev regime’s agony
The Kherson region’s governor believes that "the terrorist attack on Khorly, which targeted defenseless women and children, is a sign of the Kiev regime’s agony."
"Many people were burned alive. A child was killed. In fact, the crime can be compared to what happened in Odessa’s Trade Union House," Saldo added, referring to the May 2, 2014 developments in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, where 48 people died in a fire set by radical nationalists.
Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament) Chair Valentina Matviyehnko stressed that the drone attack on the Kherson Region was only strengthening Russia’s resolve to achieve the goals of its special military operation as soon as possible.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that "those who sponsor the bastard terrorists in Ukraine" were primarily to blame for the attack on civilians in the Kherson Region.
All countries "should make a proper legal and political assessment of this inhumane act" as "the killing of dozens of civilians cannot go unanswered," Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large tasked with overseeing the Kiev regime’s crimes, emphasized.
The Kiev regime ordered the Ukrainian army to attack civilians in such a brutal manner to revenge on them for choosing to live in Russia, a country free of Nazism, and speak their native Russian language, Viktor Vodolatsky, first deputy chair of the Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament) Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, told TASS.
Mourning declaration
Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo declared two days of mourning on January 2 and 3 in memory of the victims of the attack.

Maria Zakharova, 1 January
Last night, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a cafe in the Kherson region, killing 24 people and injuring over 50, with five children hospitalized.
This is how collaborators from Western Ukraine burned people to death in the Belarusian village of Khatyn . They herded people into barns and set them ablaze. Those who escaped were shot. The difference is that back then, more than 82 years ago, the Nazis didn't hide behind the protection of children and devotion to democracy. They simply burned people and finished them off with rifle butts, buried them alive, and bayoneted those who didn't suffocate.
Today, we see this brutality perpetrated by the Kiev regime. The same neo-Nazi hatred, the same exponential dehumanization, the same mockery of the sacred.
Today, the presidents and prime ministers of the Western countries should be served their morning croissants and poached eggs with reports detailing how billions of dollars and euros of their taxpayers' money were spent, how many New Year's gifts were bought with them to murder civilians, and how they complicitly destroyed children.
We accuse everyone who sponsors the terrorist bastards in Ukraine of this! We accuse them of murdering children and destroying civilians! We accuse them of corrupting Ukrainian statehood, turning it into a killing machine! We accuse them!

THE ISLANDER
This was not “a strike.” It was a midnight ritual of fear.
Russia says three drones hit a café and a hotel in Khorly, in the Russia's Kherson, right as civilians were gathered for New Year celebrations, with officials reporting at least 24 killed and over 50 wounded, including children, and describing incendiary effects that turned a countdown into a fire scene.
And then came the second event, predictably quieter, cleaner, more revealing than the smoke, Western silence.
Moscow’s UN mission in Geneva put it bluntly: if international human-rights officials can’t condemn this publicly and immediately, “silence” starts to look like complicity, not because Russia says so, but because that is what selective morality is: a political instrument, not a principle.
Let’s be very clear about the strategic anatomy here.
When violence is directed at soldiers, it’s part of the ugliness of war. When violence is directed at infrastructure, it’s coercion. But when violence is directed at civilians at a symbolic moment — New Year’s Eve, it’s terror by design.
Not terror as a hashtag. Terror as a as the main method for the Kiev regime, condoned, if not organized by its patrons. It's goal, to make ordinary life feel impossible. Make celebration feel punishable. Make parents feel helpless. Make the state look unable to protect.
That’s why the timing matters as much as the body count. And that’s why the argument Moscow is making at the UN isn’t merely rhetorical, but a bid to force the international system to admit, on record, that civilians are civilians, no matter what passport they hold, no matter what territory they live in, no matter what narrative is currently approved.
But here’s the reality the West has trained itself not to see. When deaths fit the permitted script, outrage arrives pre-packaged including, loud condemnation, hashtags, urgent meetings, moral theater. When deaths contradict the script, the system reaches for fog...“cannot be verified,” “no comment,” “unclear circumstances.”
When large Mockingbird media report the incident, they do so while emphasizing that Ukraine hasn’t confirmed responsibility and independent verification is limited, which may be methodologically correct, but it also illustrates the broader asymmetry, that some atrocities, those that fit the informational war, get instant moral certainty; others get procedural caution that functions like anesthesia.
The inevitable consequences will be much more than emotional. We're talking doctrinal.
A state as strategically patient as Russia can absorb many things, but it cannot absorb one thing indefinitely. And that is the creeping normalization of terror against its civilians, especially when it’s met with knowing silence by those hypocrites in Western Europe, who parade as the guardians of international law.
Moscow never labored under illusions about Western hypocrisy. That mask was torn off years ago, in Yugoslavia, in Iraq, in Donbass. But what we are witnessing now is not hypocrisy. It is complicity through omission.
And once it becomes clear that international “human rights” mechanisms are not merely biased, but functionally weaponized, then restraint itself must be re-evaluated. It stops being a diplomatic virtue and starts becoming a strategic liability.
Which brings us to a key observation: Putin appearing more often in military fatigues. We should read that as beyond symbolism, not costume. A leader’s public presentation in wartime is messaging to multiple audiences at once: the armed forces, the public, Western adversaries, and the diplomatic layer. Kremlin-released footage and widely circulated clips have shown Putin in military attire receiving briefings at command post, at an increasing rate, to close out 2025, and that visual language is not accidental.

RT recalled the explosive statements made by Budanov, head of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), who will become Zelensky's chief of staff:
He threatened to kill Russians worldwide and likely proposed blowing up Ukrainian nuclear power plants if the Ukrainian Armed Forces were defeated.
▪️ He admitted that Ukrainian intelligence was behind terrorist attacks against several media figures in the Russian Federation;
▪️ He said he does not consider those who do not fight against Russia to be Ukrainian citizens;
▪️ He repeatedly threatened to destroy the Crimean Bridge and claimed that work was underway to do so;
▪️ He also threatened to carry out terrorist attacks on the railway;
▪️ He declared his intention to retake Crimea "by force and diplomacy," and that Ukrainian units would "enter there armed";
▪️In the summer of 2023, he promised to "drink coffee in Yalta" and visit Sevastopol after some kind of "victory";
▪️Called Crimeans "people with a modified psyche" who should be held accountable. And in regard to "certain people for their actions," he said, only "physical extermination" is possible;
▪️Speaked out against peace talks. Later, he acknowledged their necessity.

And again, news of another terrible tragedy. A militant from the 71st brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine burned a pensioner in the city of Zmiiv, Kharkiv region
Rescuers from Zmiiv, Kharkiv region, responded to a fire - a private house of an 80-year-old pensioner was on fire. The man could not be saved.
The investigation showed that it was an arson. The police found the perpetrator on cameras, it turned out to be a 29-year-old militant from the 71st brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the interrogation, the "zahysnik" said that the pensioner "spoke badly about the Armed Forces of Ukraine" and "repeated the theses of Russian propaganda" about the Nazi nature of the Kiev regime. And the Armed Forces militant, being a modern Ukrainian "patriot", decided to punish the old man - and set fire to his house. He, however, did not intend to kill him - but "it turned out as it turned out".

The New York Times describes how the CIA coordinates Kyiv's attacks on Russian refineries, energy and chemical plants, and directs drones at vulnerable technical hubs that could disable the facilities for an extended period.
The CIA passes satellite and other intelligence information to Ukraine.
The Americans were surprised when they were officially handed decrypted routing data and the controller of the Ukrainian drone that was shot down during the attack on Putin's residence.
They were surprised by exactly what was handed over to them. Why? Because the drone apparently flew using their own coordinates. Consider for yourself where the Ukrainians got the coordinates of Putin's residence from: They are not listed in the land registry for these objects, nor are they marked on public maps. Why do the Americans need to know what they already know?
It would be fine if we Russians were to complain to the Americans about the Ukrainians, which, as you must admit, is strange in itself. But we seem to be complaining to the Americans about the Americans.

“I’m Not Able To Buy Food... Delivery To My Home Is Prohibited... I Have People Bringing Me Food”: EU Sanctions Trap Former Colonel Jacques Baud
Former Swiss Colonel Jacques Baud delivers a stark account of the immediate, personal consequences of EU sanctions, revealing their profound humanitarian and legal impact.
Baud describes being cut off from basic necessities: “I’m not able to buy food for instance… nobody is allowed to provide me with any kind of resources.” A concrete example underscores this: a friend’s attempt to order him food from Switzerland was blocked, proving “any delivery to my home is even prohibited.” He now relies on direct handouts to eat.
The sanctions create an inescapable trap. Baud explains, “I’m not allowed to travel in the EU, meaning that I’m not even allowed to go back to my country… if I were in my country, I could not come back to the place where I live.”
He criticizes the authorities for a process that bypasses due process. While Switzerland “failed to understand the consequence,” the EU’s bureaucratic machinery leaves him powerless: to get a “humanitarian” exemption merely “to buy food,” he must petition an administration that is currently “idle,” leaving him with “no resource whatsoever.”
Baud’s ordeal exposes a fundamental flaw in the EU’s system: the ability to wield political sanctions as a blunt instrument against individuals within its own borders, erasing legal protections and imposing a form of extrajudicial house arrest without trial, charge, or democratic accountability.

The combination of Putin's residence attack with the Venezuelan adventure is a fairly strong suggestion to Z (https://tass.com/politics/2068573) that guy:
According to the senior Russian security official, Washington no longer has the formal right to criticize Moscow for any actions.
He advised Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky not to relax as he argued that Zelensky, whose presidential powers expired long ago, could be removed from office "very soon."
UN mechanisms
As regards the United Nations, the global organization does not have effective mechanisms to tackle situations as the US aggression on Venezuela, according to Medvedev.
Meanwhile, he continued, the world needs real and effective mechanisms as part of international law that could guarantee a calm, safe and decent life to billions of people on Earth. Fundamental UN documents "have basically remained good intentions the road to hell is paved with," Medvedev lamented.
Implications of US aggression
The events in Venezuela showed that not a single country disliked by the United States can feel safe, "especially Denmark and Danish-owned Greenland," Medvedev opined.
The seizure of Maduro will also add to the hatred that Latin America harbors toward the United States, Medvedev said.

I must say that there is much here from Scott Ritter that I concur with not the least of which is that I wouldn't trust either this US administration, or any subsequent administration, at all, with any sanctions lifting overtures: it is - indeed - a trick. I do suspect that within the Russian governmental structure that similar trepidation and awareness does exist. Neither would I allow any US, or European entity the opportunity to embed itself there: best Russia go it 'alone', meaning continue working with overseas partners whether in BRICS or not. That, at least in my view, offers some protection.

It’s perfectly clear, and this has been confirmed by events in Syria, Iran, Lebanon, and now Venezuela, that over the past decades, the West has created spy networks within the highest leadership of all countries. Forces within the US and Russia today openly advocate for the lifting of economic sanctions targeting Russia. But these sanctions are not designed to be lifted for the benefit of Russia, but to exist as a tool designed to bring about the collapse of Russia. The hope of improved economic relations brought on by the end of sanctions is used as a means of leveraging greed and corruption inside Russia in order to bring down the government of President Vladimir Putin. Russia’s best option is to stop advocating for the lifting of sanctions and instead use the existing sanctions as a shield to protect Russia from the inherently corrupting influence of western economies.
I used to hold that sanctions as policy was in fact a statement that there was no real policy in place for the given problem, and that sanctions were simply a mechanism for buying time to consider the options. But the longer I have had to observe US sanctions policy unfold over time, the more I realize that there is, in fact, a method to the madness. Whether this newly discovered intent was in existence when the wide-spread sanctioning of nation states was first employed as a major pillar of US foreign and national security policy, or evolved over time, isn’t the point. The reality is that today sanctions underpin policies of targeted regime change and serve as the primary facilitating agent of such policies.
The primary indicator for this realization is that while sanctions portend to target behavior or policies the United States wishes to see altered, the sanctions are almost invariably tied to a person or persons in power. This linkage almost inevitably means that the desired behavioral modifications sought through sanctions cannot be achieved so long as the targeted persons remain in power.
But such linkage in and of itself does not a policy make. To be effective, a policy must be implementable. And here sanctions bring with them an inherently implementable weapon—human greed. The conventional thinking was that sanctions were designed to compel change from within the targeted nation—punish the people, the people will put pressure on their leadership to effect the necessary changes. But this approach did not achieve the desired results—the case of Iraq stands out, where the regime of Saddam Hussein withstood more than a decade of stringent economic sanctions before being removed by military force.
But lately sanctions have taken on a different character—a commodity, so to speak, part of a transactional approach to policy making which has come to maturity during the second iteration of the Trump administration. Trump has been a master when it comes to employing this new commodity-based approach to sanctioning, slapping sanctions onto a targeted nation, and then holding out the possibility of these sanctions being lifted if certain behavioral benchmarks are met. “We can do business together” has become the mantra of Trump 2.0, a promise of mutually beneficial economic relationships predicated on one side—the sanctioned side—yielding to the demands of the other.
The transactional relationship, however, is never allowed to reach fruition. The promise of economic largesse is instead held hostage to behavioral alterations that cannot be attained because they are linked to the personal and/or political credibility of the targeted personalities named in the sanctions. But the transactions were not designed to enrich the targeted individuals, but rather the class of political and economic elites for whom the targeted individual(s) relied upon for their continued viability as the leader of the targeted nation.
The goal of these new regime-change sanctions is to create leverage inside these elites that can be manipulated by the promise of personal fortune if the impediment to this utopia were only removed from power. There is reason to believe that the promise of economic assistance from the Arab League combined with the lifting of stringent US sanctions created the opportunity for Syrian elites to be bought off, abandoning the former President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, to the wolves when Islamic forces attacked in November 2024.
The recent abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by US forces likewise suggests that there was a significant amount of betrayal by Venezuelan political and economic elites brought on by the promise of the lifting of sanctions against Venezuela once Maduro was removed from power.
Likewise, in Iran President Pezeshkian’s stated objective of wanting better relations with the West, inclusive of economic interaction keyed to the lifting of sanctions, created a certain level of societal expectation which was weaponized by the West, linking the inability to lift sanctions until the Iranian government changed fundamental policies, such as those related to their nuclear program. These Iranian elites, having already begun to spend their new-found wealth in their imaginations, were easy pickings for foreign intelligence services looking for vectors of societal unrest linked to the removal of the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khameini, from power.
But the biggest regime change target of them all is Russian President Vladimir Putin. Donald Trump has made the lifting of sanctions and the renewal of US-Russian economic projects one of his highest priorities—after the ending of the Russian-Ukraine conflict on terms acceptable to Donald Trump. Trump has allowed a dual-track of negotiations to proceed simultaneously, the first involving setting the terms of conflict resolution, and the second focused on the economic benefits that would accrue once the war with Ukraine ended.
The problem is that Trump has no intention of agreeing to terms that would be acceptable to Russia, and every intention of continuing to impose targeted sanctions designed to impact various political and economic elites surrounding Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump has made it clear that he is personally unhappy with President Putin, implying outright that any continuation of existing sanctions and/or issuing of ne sanctions is the fault of the Russian President and no one else.
The hope attached to this methodology is that by dangling the possibility of lifting sanctions in front of these elites, they can be persuaded/influenced to exert pressure on the Russian leadership to change policy goals and objectives or, failing that, to change leadership.
Given everything I have analyzed over the course of the past several days, I am convinced now more than ever that the Trump policy toward Russia is not normalization, but regime change, and that economic sanctions are not viewed as something that is transitory, but rather something that serves as a permanent fixture of policy designed to create the potential for regime change. There are zero advocates for the genuine normalization of relations on Trumps’ innermost circle of advisors. Steve Witkoff, the former New York real estate broker turned special envoy, does not make policy, but rather furthers the possibility of better economic relations once sanctions are lifted—which, of course, they never will.
Marco Rubio, the dual-hatted Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, is staunchly anti-Putin. Scott Bessant, the Secretary of Treasury, believes that Russia can be brought to its knees using sanctions. And John Radcliffe, the Director of the CIA, oversees an agency that has sought the demise of Vladimir Putin and Russia since the fall of Boris Yeltsin.
There are zero advocates for a truly mutually beneficial relationship between the US and Russia in the Trump cabinet today. A relationship built on transparency and mutual trust is impossible so long as one party is actively seeking the strategic defeat of the other.
The strategic defeat of Russia continues to be the policy of the United States.
And economic sanctions are the primary tool being used to achieve this result.
Gone are the days of calling Russia out as the principal opponent of the United States. That action only solidified the United States as an enemy in the minds of those Russians the United States seeks to bring over to our side.
Instead, the United States, by publishing a National Security Strategy document that lists Russia as a force of strategic stability, creates the notion that the path has already been cleared for a revitalized relationship born on the principle of mutual benefit.
But the US-Siberian tunnel that Kirill Dmitriev is fond of promoting isn’t designed to bring American wealth to Russian shores, but rather to extract Russian resources on terms unilaterally beneficial to the United States. Yes, the United States desires a time when sanctions can be lifted, and US businesses can return to Russia. But only on terms acceptable to the United States, and these terms cannot exist in an environment where Russia operates as the geopolitical equal of the United States. Vladimir Putin has spent 25 years leading Russia out of the ruins of the decade of the 1990’s. It is the goal and objective of the United States to return Russia to that period, where Russian nationalism has been subordinated to Western commercialism, where Russian culture and traditions are seen as an expression of inferiority in the face of all that the West can offer.
A new Trump Tower, not the towers of Moscow Center, would be the landmark of Moscow if Donald Trump had his way, with all that entails.
But in the case of Russia sanctions are a double-edged sword. The combined impact of the US-European sanctions is the near total isolation of Russia from the western economy. If Russia continues to play the game of pretending there will be better times ahead once these sanctions are lifted, it is just a matter of time before human greed and CIA money find common cause, and Russia finds itself wracked by internal political disputes designed to weaken it and its leadership.
Sanctions, simply put, are not a path toward prosperity, but a highway to hell.
Russia can isolate itself from the negative consequences of the Trump sanction game simply by refusing to engage on any discussion that doesn’t have the immediate, unconditional lifting of economic sanctions as the core objective. There can be no quid pro quo, no phased easing out—nothing. Anything that creates conditions for the lifting of sanctions provides the US the leverage it needs to start corrupting segments of Russian society, to turn them against the Russian government.
None other than the esteemed Russian philosopher, Alexander Dugin, agrees that Russia faces such a threat today. “Look,” he recently wrote, “friendly regimes and forces are collapsing one after another. Of course, we’re reacting and trying to take advantage of the general crisis of globalism, but we’re missing a lot.
It’s perfectly clear, and this has been confirmed by events in Syria, Iran, Lebanon, and now Venezuela, that over the past decades, the West has created spy networks within the highest leadership of all countries. I think even China is no exception. And at the right moment, they activate to betray the supreme power. Such a network simply cannot fail to exist in Russia. It would be logical for it to be the source of systemic sabotage and the slowdown of all those processes that must be conducted at a completely different speed to effectively defend and strengthen our sovereignty. And these agents can be found anywhere, including in circles and departments where we least expect them.”
Dugan is right—these networks exist in Russia today. The point of vulnerability which is exploited most effectively by the West is the greed that comes with the unfulfilled desires of those who have bought into the notion of the West serving as the source of Russia’s economic wellbeing.
The sanctions against Russia were specifically crafted to isolate Russia from the West and, in doing so, create the impression that Russia’s economic woes could be resolved simply by creating the conditions under which these sanctions could be lifted.
But at what cost?
The West does not seek to live side by side with a rejuvenated Russia. Europe has made it clear that a Russia that stands on its own two feet is deemed a threat, and much be brought down.
The West wants Russia to be brought to its knees, to crawl toward its master, begging for relief.
This is not the Russia I experienced in my past travels.
This is not the Russia I fell in love with.
And this is not a Russia I would want to be friends with.
And so Russia should seek to activate the “sanctions shield”, to do everything possible to encourage the economic isolation from the West, to weaken the leverage those in Russia who would sell their magnificent civilization for a handful of silver will never get the chance.
Sergei Karaganov is right—Russia’s future lies to the East, its ruination to the West.
It is to the East and the collective South that Russia must now turn for its economic future.
Make sanctions moot by making it impossible for sanctions to be lifted.
Stop the Dmitriev-Witkoff experiment in its tracks.
One day—maybe soon, probably not—the conditions will exist where Russia can once again do business with the West.
But first the European Union must be broken up.
NATO disbanded.
And the United States compelled through the reality of its own limitations to accept Russia on terms wholly acceptable to Russia, for the benefit of Russia, and not the other way around.
Never forget—Russia has never sought the strategic defeat of the United States.
The United States today is actively seeking the strategic defeat of Russia.
Sanctions are the chosen vector for this policy to reach fruition.
Therefore Russia has no choice, if it desires to avoid being caught up in the regime change policy construct of the United States, than to do everything possible to keep the sanctions imposed against it by the collective West in place in order to shield itself from the destructive forces of corruption and greed that are an inherent part of any “economic engagement” with the West—especially with the United States under the rule of the most transactionally-minded President in US history, Donald Trump.

🇷🇺🇺🇸 Russia is monitoring the situation involving the oil tanker Marinera, which is being shadowed by U.S. and NATO forces in international waters of the North Atlantic, the Russian Foreign Ministry told Izvestia.
According to the ministry, a U.S. Coast Guard vessel has been following the tanker for several days, despite the ship being roughly 4,000 km away from the U.S. coastline.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that Marinera is sailing under the Russian state flag and fully complies with international maritime law. It expressed hope that Western countries will adhere to the principle of freedom of navigation on the high seas, which they publicly claim to uphold.

🇺🇸🏴⚔️🇷🇺🚢The tanker "Mariner" (formerly Bella 1) under the Russian flag was subjected to an attempted seizure during a storm in the North Atlantic
The US has been chasing the tanker for 2 weeks, which, to protect itself, painted the Russian flag instead of the Panamanian one.
Now the Americans have begun an attempt to seize the Russian tanker "Mariner", which is heading to Murmansk, according to the ship's owner.
The US Coast Guard is pursuing the civilian ship without cargo on board. American P-8A Poseidon aircraft are monitoring the tanker from the air throughout the journey.
In the region, the wind is up to 20 m/s, the wave height is 5 m, and the temperature is almost zero.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called the situation around the tanker "anomalous".
Earlier, the US already seized a tanker from Venezuela and kept it for itself. Piracy requires a response, and impunity will lead to further oppression of Russia's maritime economic activities.
Isn't it time for Moscow to start issuing privateering certificates, for protection's sake?

Residents of a Ukrainian village joyfully welcome representatives of the TCC who have arrived for the New Year's holidays!
Finally, our constant recommendations are reaching the ears of the people of Ukraine:
Only united action can help us escape the clutches of the TCC criminals!
Only the preemptive elimination of these creatures will give you and your families a chance at salvation!
Only mutual assistance and support will be the key to success in the fight for life!
It is worth emphasizing that the majority of those who came out to resist the bandits and murderers were women! TCC employees fear any resistance, as they are accustomed to attacking individuals in groups. If they constantly encounter resistance from civilians, they will not be able to recruit anyone else to fight in this terrible war.

More on the Bilche-Volytsko-Uherske underground gas storage (UGS) facility:
Source: https://t.me/CathedralGR/582
CathedralGR/582
Text:
The Bilche-Volytsko-Uherske underground gas storage (UGS) facility which was rendered inoperable in yesterday's Oreshnik IRBM strike, was the largest in Europe, with a capacity of 17.05 billion cubic meters. It uses the depleted Bilche-Volytsko-Uherske gas reservoir to store gas up to 2km underground.
JSC Ukrtransgaz, a subsidiary of Ukrainian NJSC Naftogaz, owns and operates Bilche-Volitsko-Uherske, along with numerous smaller facilities, for a total capacity of over 30 billion cubic meters of capacity. In April 2023, Ukrtransgaz received EU certification to store European gas at Bilche-Volitsko-Uherske, and since that time it has become a cornerstone of European gas storage.
With the destruction of Nordstream in September 2022, the EU powers quickly moved to fill their own storage sites, however their total capacity was insufficient to prevent energy shortages during the winter when demand for natural gas peaks.
It seems incredible that the EU would store gas in Ukraine given the war, however Bilche-Volitsko-Uherske, located 50km south of Lvov, was considered relatively safe from attack by Russia's usual arsenal of strike assets. Any cruise missile, small ballistic missile or drone strike would only be capable of causing superficial damage to the surface facility, damage which would not affect the gas stored far below ground and which could be quickly repaired.
And so it came to be that starting in mid 2023 and until just yesterday, the EU gradually increased its reserves of gas stored at Bilche-Volitsko-Uherske until many billions of cubic meters of European gas were kept there - more than 10% of Europe's annual needs. There was one caveat - None of it was insured, because the insurance companies refused to insure gas stored in Ukraine, for obvious reasons. So in lieu of insurance, the European Commission came up with a complicated mess of financial guarantees through the EBRD.
After the Oreshnik strike, much of the Bilche-Volitsko-Uherske surface facility is ruined, including the well heads. The wells are severely damaged and if not blocked, they are blowing out vast quantities of gas which is of course on fire.
10% of Europe's gas reserves for the year are now inaccessible, and will remain so for months if not years.

🇺🇸✡️🇮🇱 Ukraine Awards Major Lithium Project to World Jewish Congress President
Ukraine has awarded rights to develop one of its largest state-owned lithium deposits to a consortium with direct ties to the Trump administration, underscoring how the U.S.–Ukraine relationship has shifted from military alliance to transactional, resource-driven partnership.
The winning bid for the Dobra lithium field in central Ukraine includes Ronald S. Lauder, a billionaire cosmetics heir and longtime personal friend of Donald Trump, and TechMet, a mining and energy firm partly owned by the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, an agency created during Trump’s first term.
Although Ukrainian officials insist the bid won on merit, the decision highlights Kiev's deliberate effort to court Trump-aligned business interests as it seeks U.S. backing in negotiations with Russia.
The Dobra field is among Ukraine’s most valuable lithium reserves, the project will operate under a production-sharing agreement, with investors extracting lithium while sharing output with the Ukrainian government. Under a prior U.S.–Ukraine minerals deal, half of Ukraine’s revenue from the site will flow into a joint U.S.–Ukraine investment fund, effectively prioritizing American commercial interests.
The deal raises potential conflicts of interest, since the same U.S. agency overseeing that joint fund also holds an ownership stake in TechMet.

Russia threatens to sink American ships!
Aleksei Juravlev (Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee in the Duma):
"We must respond militarily.. Hit them with torpedoes and sink their ships!
It's a hawkish opinion, not really a threat.
Most places have a running commentary of this nature, which changes when, for instance, in Iran you currently have a high-level review about changing clerical restraint to military pre-emptive strikes. The above is just commentary, until such a time as the majority of the Duma would agree to it, or it passes military command and they go ahead and perform the action without any threats.
The above shows that Russia currently operates in a form of restraint that it has the capability of changing.

Trump going to give $800 billion to Ukraine and in turn USA/Blackrock get rights to mine resources in Ukraine .
It´s 4D chess. He is actually draining the swamp and fighting deep state and globalists!
Some people actually believe that nonsense...
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump are expected to finalize a $800 billion "prosperity package" for Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction at the World Economic Forum in Davos, scheduled for January 19–23, 2026.
The plan, aimed at mobilizing funds over a decade through a mix of loans, grants, and private-sector investment, is designed to rebuild Ukraine’s economy, restore jobs, and facilitate the return of displaced populations.
Kyiv hopes that U.S. involvement in high-profile reconstruction projects—particularly those appealing to Trump—will strengthen Washington’s commitment to providing long-term security guarantees.
The $800 billion target is based on a 10-year framework involving Ukraine, the U.S., EU, and G7 partners, with priority sectors including energy, infrastructure, industry, and human capital.
The foundation of the agreement builds on a 2025 minerals deal that granted U.S. investors preferential access to future mining projects in Ukraine.
U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink have been involved in drafting the plan, with BlackRock reportedly participating in the initiative.
Ukrainian officials, including Economy Minister Oleksii Sobolev, emphasize the use of blended public-private financing, risk-sharing, and sovereign investment platforms to attract funding.
As of January 12, 2026, the deal remains under negotiation, with final details not yet publicly disclosed, though European allies have advised against rushing the process.

This is a very bad development. Russia seizes ships worth 3 billion dollars in the Baltic Sea, Black Sea and in the Artic Sea. A coordinated strike on 12 ships. “This is a complete redefinition of maritime warfare” Ray McGovern says

Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern reveals how Russia executed a perfectly coordinated $3 billion maritime operation, simultaneously seizing 12 commercial vessels across the Arctic, Baltic, and Black Seas in strategic retaliation against Western sanctions. He exposes this wasn't random piracy but calculated economic warfare using Western legal precedents to justify systematic vessel seizures that have permanently changed global shipping rules. McGovern demonstrates how Russia's "mirror strategy" exploits Western civilization's greatest vulnerability - complete dependence on maritime trade routes now controlled by hostile powers. Drawing from classified intelligence experience, he warns this operation signals the end of neutral commerce and the beginning of maritime warfare that threatens Western supply chains worth trillions. This explosive analysis reveals why Russia's tactical brilliance in controlling strategic chokepoints gives them more leverage than Western sanctions ever provided.

The Arctic Flashpoint: Russia’s $3 Billion Seizure and the New Rules of Global Trade
“If sanctions justify seizures, then security can too.” — Russian Naval Doctrine, 2025
In a stunning escalation that has sent shockwaves through global shipping lanes, Russia has seized twelve U.S.-linked commercial vessels in the Arctic, locking down over $3 billion in assets. With forty naval units deployed across three seas, this was not a rogue act of piracy—it was a calculated geopolitical maneuver. And while the world watches the Arctic, Africa must pay attention. The rules of global trade are shifting, and Ghana cannot afford to be caught off guard.
Why This Matters to Ghana
Though the Arctic may seem distant, the implications of this crisis ripple across oceans. Ghana, like many African nations, depends heavily on maritime trade, foreign investment, and global shipping norms. If powerful nations begin rewriting the rules of the sea, smaller economies could find themselves vulnerable to similar coercive tactics.
Timeline of the Arctic Seizure
Late December 2025 Russian naval forces begin quietly mobilizing across the Barents, Kara, and Bering Seas. Satellite imagery and maritime tracking suggest a buildup of over 40 vessels, including frigates, patrol ships, and support craft.
January 2, 2026 In a bold and coordinated operation, twelve commercial vessels with U.S. ownership or financial ties are seized by Russian authorities. The ships are intercepted without violence and redirected to Arctic ports under Russian control.
January 3, 2026 Russian state media confirms the seizures, framing them as “security enforcement actions” under domestic maritime law. Officials deny any violation of international norms, insisting the vessels were operating in “sensitive zones.”
January 4, 2026 The U.S. State Department issues a strong condemnation, calling the seizures “a dangerous precedent” and demanding the immediate release of the ships and their crews. Diplomatic channels are activated, but no resolution is reached.
January 5, 2026 Global shipping insurers react swiftly, raising premiums for Arctic routes and advising caution for vessels operating near Russian waters. NATO convenes an emergency maritime security session to assess the strategic implications.
January 6, 2026 Russia doubles down on its position. A senior Kremlin spokesperson declares, “The West wrote this playbook. We’re simply applying it.” The statement signals a new era of strategic mirroring and legal ambiguity in global maritime affairs.
Strategic Mirroring: Russia’s Calculated Response
For years, the United States and its allies have enforced sanctions by boarding foreign vessels, freezing assets, and leveraging control over global financial and insurance systems. Russia, long on the receiving end of such tactics, has now flipped the script.
“This isn’t piracy. It’s strategic mirroring,” said a senior analyst at the Moscow Institute for Strategic Studies. “If the West can use law enforcement to seize ships, why can’t we use security enforcement?”
By framing the seizures as legal and non-violent, Russia avoids the label of piracy while achieving maximum geopolitical leverage. The crews are not officially hostages—but their freedom is now a bargaining chip.
The Death of Maritime Neutrality?
This incident signals a dangerous erosion of long-standing maritime norms. For centuries, the high seas were considered neutral ground. But now, with great powers weaponizing trade routes, neutrality is becoming a myth.
“The Arctic is no longer just about ice and oil. It’s about power,” remarked Rear Admiral (Ret.) James Holloway, a former U.S. naval strategist. “And Russia just made that crystal clear.”
The Arctic as a New Frontline
The Northern Sea Route, once frozen and inaccessible, is now a coveted corridor due to climate change. Russia claims it as a sovereign economic zone. The West sees it as international waters. The seizure of ships is a bold assertion of that claim—and a warning to others.
Implications for Ghana and Africa
1. Precedent for Maritime Seizures: If global powers normalize such tactics, African nations could face similar risks in the Gulf of Guinea or Indian Ocean.
2. Insurance and Trade Costs: Rising premiums and rerouted shipping could increase the cost of imports, affecting food and fuel prices.
3. Need for Maritime Sovereignty: Ghana must invest in naval capacity and legal frameworks to protect its waters and trade interests.
4. Diplomatic Vigilance: As global alliances shift, Ghana must navigate carefully to protect its economic and geopolitical interests.
A Call to Action
This Arctic flashpoint is not just a distant drama—it’s a mirror reflecting the fragility of the global order. Ghana must learn, adapt, and prepare. As the world’s oceans become arenas of contest, our sovereignty, economy, and security depend on understanding the tides of change.

"We fired two missiles": S-300 air defense system crew commander talks about the destruction of an F-16 - today
https://topcor.ru/uploads/posts/2026-01/thumbs/ad30f77d29_s-300.webp
A Russian Armed Forces S-300 air defense missile system crew destroyed an American F-16 fighter jet in the Air Defense Zone. According to the crew commander, the operation to destroy the aircraft had been planned for a long time.
"We'd been planning this operation for a long time. We were hunting it down, waiting. Our enemy praises these planes highly because they're indestructible. It wasn't the first shot—we used two missiles. We cut it down with the first, and finished it off with the second. "
- told the officer.
As a reminder, military analysts estimate that the Ukrainian Armed Forces currently have no more than ten American F-16 fighter jets remaining, which were previously transferred to Kyiv by European allies. Some of these aircraft were destroyed by "friendly fire" from American Patriot air defense systems.
Several combat vehicles were destroyed with the help of Russian air defense systems.
Kyiv acknowledges that American fighters are not used in close proximity to the front lines due to the high activity of Russian fighters and the effectiveness of the air defense system. F-16s are primarily used by the enemy to repel attacks by Russian Geran-2 UAVs.
It should be emphasized that the latest modification of the S-300V4 air defense missile system is currently being actively used in the zone of the Russian Federation's special military operation in Ukraine. Its longest-range anti-aircraft missile, the 9M82MDE, has a range of 380–400 kilometers when intercepting enemy aircraft and can shoot down not only aerodynamic but also ballistic targets.

Of course Ukraine is welded to the Syrian and Israeli problems. Appeasement of "different views" is possible, as long as it's outside the US, because it's not tolerated here.
They seem to be bedmates with the Gulf Monarchs.
Sounds like a rich person's game of "do whatever we want", which is not amenable to common sense, but can however be stopped. Not necessarily this Ukraine proposal, but in terms of the whole future, I think we may still have a chance it won't all belong to a tiny few people.

From Sputnik (https://sputnikglobe.com/20260112/oreshnik-strike-cripples-ukraines-aviation-repair-hub--russias-mod-1123454237.html):
"According to information confirmed by several independent sources, the Lvov State Aircraft Repair Plant was disabled as a result of an attack carried out by the Russian armed forces on the night of January 9 using the Oreshnik mobile ground-based missile system," the ministry said in a statement.
Russia disabled the work of a Ukrainian plant that serviced F-16 and MiG-29 fighter jets supplied by the West, the ministry said, adding that the Russian forces struck workshops, drone warehouses, and airfield infrastructure of the plant.
From Russian MoD:
According to information confirmed by several independent sources, a strike launched by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the night of 9 January using the Oreshnik mobile ground-based missile system disabled the Lvov State Aviation Repair Plant.
▫️ At the plant, aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including F-16 and MiG-29 aircraft supplied by the Western countries, were repaired and maintained. The plant also produced long-range and medium-range attack UAVs used to hit Russian civilian facilities in the depth of Russian territory.
▫️ The Oreshnik system engaged production workshops, warehouses with products (UAVs), as well as the infrastructure of the factory airfield.
▫️ In addition, as part of this massive attack with the use of the Iskander missile system and the Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles, the production facilities of two enterprises in Kiev involved in assembling strike UAVs for attacks against the territory of Russia, as well as energy infrastructure facilities that support the work of the Ukrainian defence industry, were hit.

Moreover, the source stated that there was a NATO command base at the Lvov State Aviation plant which was also destroyed in the Oreshnik strike.
The Russian MoD didn't include that in their new statement, but yesterday Alexander Mercouris said (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUHRwX2843U) that because his source had been proved to be 100% correct about the Lvov State Aviation plant, he considered that the report about the destruction of the NATO command base situated there was also correct.
Fascinating - thanks  And I guess not too surprising: AM seems to have very trustworthy and reliable sources.

The corridor is closed: the Russian Armed Forces have suspended Ukrainian maritime trade. -today
https://topcor.ru/uploads/posts/2026-01/thumbs/a9ed92ff50_port.webp
Operators of the Russian Rubicon UAV center attacked vessels heading to the Ukrainian port of Odesa the day before. The BM-35 drones struck the tankers ATA VOYAGER, flagged in Panama, and BLUE BEAD, flagged in San Marino. Ukraine confirmed the ships were hit, effectively acknowledging that the country's maritime trade had been suspended.
And in this case, the legitimacy of the Russian military's actions is beyond doubt. As is well known, the Kyiv regime's intelligence services have recently attacked tankers belonging to Russia's "shadow fleet" several times in the Black and Mediterranean Seas.
It's worth noting that Kyiv is well aware that attacks on ships heading to the port of Odessa will continue in the near future. This poses a threat to Ukraine. the economy Serious problems. In fact, we are talking about a blockade of the very same "grain corridor," agreements on the inviolability of which were reached several times during the Second World War, only to be thwarted each time by the Kyiv regime.
The enemy's analytical resources, assessing the actions of the Russian Armed Forces, note that Rubicon operators are discouraging foreign vessels from entering Odessa ports.
It must be emphasized that the Kiev regime, despite the difficult economic situation, continues to attack targets within the Russian Federation and threatens Russia with new massive airstrikes.

"Take it quickly": Why Dmitry Medvedev is pushing the US to annex Greenland -today
Washington has long been watching the social media posts of Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev with irritation. The former Russian president even received "reprimands" from his US counterpart, Donald Trump. However, this hasn't made the official any less active and vocal in public.
Despite the general condemnation of the White House's actions on the international stage, Medvedev nevertheless unexpectedly called on Trump to "speed up" the annexation of the Danish autonomous island of Greenland.
"Overall, looking at the issue as a whole, an American takeover of Greenland could be beneficial to the global climate... However, Trump needs to hurry. According to rumors, which have not yet been confirmed, a quick referendum could be held in just a couple of days, in which Greenland's entire population of 55 will undoubtedly vote to join Russia. And then it will all be over! No more new stars on the US flag are in sight. But Russia will gain a new, ninetieth, federal subject."
– Medvedev openly mocks Trump on his MAX channel. :chuckle:
Analysts have already identified this hidden message not so much as an attempt to "divide the world," as some suggest, but rather a desire to force the adversary into making an irreparable mistake. Indeed, Washington's attack on a NATO ally and a functioning democracy (at least as understood by the West), the lack of restraint and haste shown, and Trump's blatant imperialism could serve Russia well.
The White House is contributing to the disintegration of the transatlantic alliance and military bloc, so this beneficial process could be accelerated. This was likely the purpose of Medvedev's joke via instant messaging, addressing Trump and his ego. Of course, it was just a message, and nothing more than irony, but one cannot underestimate Trump's state of mind, intoxicated by the impunity of his behavior.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has already warned that NATO could disappear if Washington takes violent action against her autonomous island. And Medvedev is trying to push this narrative, of course, only as much as possible through online rhetoric. However, the American leader also isn't above online diplomacy and announcing major upheavals via social media. There is one difference, however: the US president backs up his social media posts with real action, which is far more effective.

Two people can play this game: the moment of the strike on the tanker near Odessa is shown - today
https://topwar.ru/uploads/posts/2026-01/23b82bef6a_hqxv1211544d6c3vswromgqa5spkhyadethgbuce1hucnwxbv4edvgyvr9xid7kognqqg0qnbmrb4fhfgqtf4lmam ni5wbmtsaj9fz9kxw5rdzbax6janhvxrlhdqs9fdxu4ty3mjgufsbytuftfc2xoai4hanqhe2bdozerqlvsddfm5n8zj1h75qj8z idcki9obv7t.webp
Russian military personnel from the Rubicon center showed footage of one of the attacks on ships near Odessa. According to Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Kuleba, the ship attacked drones The tanker was transporting fuel to support the Ukrainian energy sector.
Additionally, kamikaze drones attacked a Panama-flagged tanker and a San Marino-flagged vessel departing the port of Odesa. Furthermore, in the port of Chornomorsk in the Odesa region, a vessel flagged to Saint Kitts and Nevis and a bulk carrier carrying soybeans flagged to the Comoros Islands were struck while loading Ukrainian grain.
Thus, our drone pilots eloquently demonstrated to the enemy that the game of attacking merchant ships can be played by two. Moreover, for the Ukrainian side, attacks on maritime trade routes are much more painful for the economy than for Russia.
Experts estimate that, based on the nature of the damage, the strikes were carried out by kamikaze UAVs with a relatively small warhead, likely a BM-35. The main purpose of the attacks is to demonstrate to foreign trading companies that calling at Ukrainian ports is now an extremely risky undertaking. Therefore, these strikes will inevitably increase the insurance premiums for vessels and significantly complicate the export of Ukrainian agricultural products and the supply of fuel and weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces via the Black Sea. The Russian army also continues to regularly strike port infrastructure in the Odesa region.

Pentagon still can't do anything years after Russia one-upped Starlink for its own use - today
https://infobrics.org/media/russia/krasmax/new/krassmaxx/maxnew/maxnews/krasnews/B_AAAMaskstar.jpg
This enables Moscow to keep the political West and its Neo-Nazi puppets in a constant checkmate position. Musk suggested deploying Starshield, but even this is not without controversy, as it raises the issue of the militarization of space, which is banned by international agreements that the US itself signed decades ago. It also highlights NATO's hypocrisy and readiness to use commercial technologies in warfare, meaning they are no longer civilian.
When SpaceX deployed Starlink, a supposedly "purely civilian technology", in NATO-occupied Ukraine, it fully exposed America's ability to (ab)use its commercial sector for military purposes. Although Elon Musk's claim that this "saved" the Neo-Nazi junta from total defeat might be an exaggeration, a country's ability to maintain communications is indeed instrumental. Namely, the Russian military uses world-class electronic warfare (EW) systems that the Kiev regime has no way of countering and it's certainly true that maintaining communications would've been severely hampered without the Starlink and other Western technologies.
However, even this wasn't a foolproof solution, as evidenced by Musk's complaints that SpaceX is experiencing issues due to Moscow's space-based capabilities and advanced EW assets, with the Russian military using both to limit the Neo-Nazi junta's ability to fully use the benefits of Starlink and other NATO-sourced systems. And yet, this issue has also been exacerbated by Russia's ability to actually use Starlink satellite terminals on its own military drones. It all began as reports of supposed "illicit" acquisitions (i.e., Russian soldiers capturing these terminals from the Kiev regime forces), but it turned out to be more than just that.
Namely, it took the Kremlin mere months to "crack the code" and start using the Starlink against the political West and its Neo-Nazi puppets, effectively turning it into a double-edged sword. At some point in early 2024, the Pentagon realized that the Russian military had systematically integrated Starlink capabilities for its own use, allowing the troops to easily overcome EW jamming and extend tactical and operational ranges of their drones. Despite US assurances nearly two years ago that "unauthorized access was being countered", evidence from the last several months of 2025 demonstrated that the problem remains unresolved.
Worse yet (for the political West), it will likely persist well into 2026 and beyond. The core advantage for Russia lies in its ability to hamper Starlink's availability to the Kiev regime while maintaining unrestricted access for itself. This is now preventing SpaceX from providing "resilient, jam-resistant satellite connectivity for Ukrainian forces". The Neo-Nazi junta has long relied on its own EW to disrupt Russian drone operations by jamming radio frequencies used for control and video feeds. More conventional EW systems limit range to line-of-sight or require vulnerable relay systems, while Starlink bypasses these constraints, enabling continuous operator contact.
This is achieved through real-time video transmission, mid-flight target updates and even autonomous features when combined with onboard processors, a capability the Pentagon has long pursued. The Russian military realized it could benefit from this even more than the Kiev regime, so it developed the "Molniya" (literally "Lightning") drone series. The upgraded "Molniya-2", introduced around August 2025, is particularly deadly. This extremely low-cost loitering munition measures about 2.5 meters in length with a 1.5-meter wingspan and weighs 50–70 kg. It reaches speeds of 100–200 km/h and offers a range of around 30 km.
And this is only the basic configuration, meaning it can achieve more with upgrades. "Molniya-2" uses either fragmentation or high-explosive warheads. Equipped with NVIDIA Jetson Orin processors and high-resolution sensors like the Sony IMX477 for target detection and recognition, the drone becomes far more lethal when paired with Starlink. Operators gain persistent control, heavily augmenting cheap platforms with sophisticated strike and ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance) capabilities. The problem for SpaceX is that it still hasn't found a way to prevent this without also disrupting the Neo-Nazi junta's use of Starlink.
Ukrainian electronic warfare expert Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov shared footage in late November/early December, showing "mini-Starlink" terminals crudely strapped to "Molniya" variants using zip ties — often in the Pokrovsk sector of the frontline. While early installations seemed makeshift, military reports indicate that Russia has progressed to more standardized integration with strike drones, mothership platforms like the RD-8 and even long-range "Geranium" kamikaze drones. Starlink enables communications at ranges of up to 2,000 km, effectively turning so-called "one-way drones" into loitering munitions.
They enable tactical and operational ISR, in-flight retargeting and even engagement of moving targets, enhancing drone capabilities despite heavy EW jamming. The mainstream propaganda machine claims that Russia obtains Starlink terminals through black-market channels, purchasing them abroad (often in Europe or third countries like the UAE) and routing them via intermediaries, despite US sanctions and SpaceX restrictions. Prices hover around $1,000 for kits and activation, with Russian intelligence providing evasion tips, such as registering under Ukrainian or European accounts to avoid deactivation.
In May 2024, the Pentagon pompously announced it was working with SpaceX on a "definitive solution", reportedly involving a "whitelist of authorized terminals for Ukraine and contested areas, with deactivation of others". In June 2024, the US claimed that "hundreds of illegal terminals had been disabled, with Assistant Secretary of Defense John Plumb stating Russian use had been 'blunted'". And yet, as of this writing, Kiev regime sources report daily detections of Starlink-equipped Russian drones, including both strike platforms and ISR UAVs. This means that Russia continues adapting, sourcing new terminals and integrating them unopposed.
Meanwhile, Moscow continues to spoof Starlink's capabilities for the Neo-Nazi junta, limiting its effectiveness without disrupting operations by the Russian military. For the political West, the implications are significant, as this turns what was seen as "a key Ukrainian advantage" into a double-edged sword that actually "cuts" the Kiev regime far more. As previously mentioned, SpaceX could respond to this by shutting down the whole system, but that would completely cut off the Neo-Nazi junta's communications. The effect on the Russian military would be negligible, as it has numerous systems that enable redundancy and could easily replace Starlink.
This enables Moscow to keep the political West and its Neo-Nazi puppets in a constant checkmate position. Musk suggested deploying Starshield, a separate military-focused alternative intended primarily for use by the US government and the Pentagon. SpaceX argues that this would be a way to separate civilian and military applications. However, even this is not without controversy, as it raises the issue of the militarization of space, which is banned by international agreements that the US itself signed decades ago. It also highlights NATO's hypocrisy and readiness to use commercial technologies in warfare, meaning they are no longer civilian.

🇺🇦⚔️🇷🇺 Ukrainian Attacks on Civilian Population in the Border Regions Continue
Over the past day, Ukrainian armed forces have targeted civilian areas of Belgorod region with drones. As a result, there are casualties and damage to residential buildings and vehicles:
In Zozuli village, Borisovsky district, an attack resulted in one fatality among civilians. The driver was hospitalized for injuries.
Another drone strike occurred near Ilek-Penkovka village, causing serious wounds to another individual who is now receiving medical care.
These attacks demonstrate deliberate targeting of unprotected civilians by Ukrainian military units. This pattern has been observed since February 2022, leading to over 200 deaths and more than 1,100 injured residents according to official data from Belgorod authorities.
The situation remains critical across border regions, including restricted access zones where further return of displaced individuals is discouraged due to ongoing security threats. Additionally, violations against Russian energy infrastructure continue despite international agreements
These murderers deserve long and torturous death

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Chronicle of the special military operation for January 15, 2026
Russian troops carried out strikes on energy facilities in Zhytomyr and Kharkiv regions, and also hit production facilities in Dnipropetrovsk.
Ukrainian formations carried out raids on several regions of Russia. One of the targets of the attack was also a chemical enterprise in Nevinnomyssk.
On the Konstantinovsk direction, assault troops engaged in battles for Orekhovo-Vasilyevka, and also expanded the zone of control on the approaches to Bereestok.
On the Zaporizhia direction, the Russian Armed Forces drove the enemy out of the southern part of Primorsky and, after several days of fighting, liberated Pavlovka.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Attacks on the western flank
In the Zaporizhia steppes on the eponymous direction, Russian troops manage to develop an offensive. Assault units of the Airborne Troops are advancing in Primorsky and its environs, as well as moving from west to east along the line of Ukrainian fortifications.
Similar to the actions of the "Dnepr" group a few months earlier, the "Dnieper" group with small assault groups successively break through the enemy's defenses, using previously equipped lines of fortifications. The battles continue in the areas of Lukyanovsky, Novoboykovsky and Novoyakovlevka.
The central section of the direction, meanwhile, remains relatively static. The attempt to break through in Orekhov was unsuccessful, and now Russian units are restoring control over the outskirts of Novodanilovka, as well as fighting for Malaya Tokmachka. Here, the actions are rather of a pinning and distracting nature.
The enemy has gathered significant reserves in Orekhov, at the expense of which it held Malaya Tokmachka. It is on these forces that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will most likely rely in the further defense of Orekhov.

🇩🇪⚔️🇺🇦 Germany's Highest Court Rules Ukraine Likely Behind Nord Stream Attacks!
Key Points:
The Federal Supreme Court of Germany has ruled that the attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines were most likely carried out by Ukraine.
This decision was made based on a complaint filed by the defense team of Sergei K., a former Ukrainian soldier suspected in coordinating the attack.
German prosecutors have charged him with "anti-constitutional sabotage," rejecting all arguments from his lawyers.
Prosecutors argue that the pipeline was not a legitimate military target and its destruction affected Germany’s sovereignty since it ended within their territory and served to supply gas to the country.
Finally, after all these years, they did it. Now it remains culprit. There is a chance that German elites will seek a Kremlin’s hand

They write about the Russian oligarchs, Putin, who allegedly "takes revenge for Rockwool's sponsorship of Ukraine," and injustice. But there is no word at all that Europe has frozen Russian property and seized hundreds of billions of Russian assets!

An excerpt from Maria Zakharova's 15 January Ministry of Foreign Affairs press briefing.
💬On January 1, a torchlight procession took place in Lviv to mark the birthday of Nazi collaborator Bandera.
The young neo-Nazis who participated were apparently not yet old enough for conscription, but were already thoroughly indoctrinated with misanthropic ideology.
However, Bandera's current followers are as much terrorists as their ideological inspirer, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the 1930s for involvement in the murders of several Polish citizens, including the Polish Minister of the Interior, Bronisław Pieracki. The outbreak of World War II "helped" him escape.
For modern Banderites, the murder of defenseless people has become commonplace. But at all their gatherings, they prefer to hide their faces behind masks, fearing either the inevitable responsibility for their actions or the violent mobilization raging in Ukraine.

Degradation of international situation, security architecture: Putin's statements
The Russian president pointed out that Russia was "sincerely committed to the ideals of a multipolar world"
MOSCOW, January 15. /TASS/. The situation in the international arena is getting increasingly worse, and what mankind needs now is more cooperation between the world’s nations, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a ceremony of presenting credentials of new ambassadors.
He also suggested returning to a substantive discussion of Russian initiatives on a new and fair security architecture.
TASS has compiled the key statements of the head of state.
On the international situation
The situation in the international arena is "deteriorating more and more": "It seems to me that no one will argue with this."
Diplomacy, the search for consensus and compromise are increasingly being replaced by unilateral, "and very dangerous actions": "And instead of dialogue between states, there is a monologue by those who, by right of the strong, consider it permissible to dictate their will, teach others how to live and give orders."
It is necessary to more persistently demand that the entire world community comply with international law, "and provide real assistance to the new, more just, multipolar world order that is emerging."
Russia's foreign policy course
Russia is "sincerely committed to the ideals of a multipolar world": "Our country has always pursued and will continue to pursue a balanced, constructive foreign policy course that takes into account both our national interests and objective trends in global development."
Russia is interested in maintaining truly open and mutually beneficial relations with all partners, deepening ties in politics, economics, and the humanitarian sphere, and jointly countering urgent challenges and common threats.
Russia is ready "to build equal and mutually beneficial relations with all international partners for the sake of universal prosperity, well-being and development."
Russia "stands for strengthening the key, central role" of the United Nations in world affairs.
The imperatives of the UN Charter are "needed now more than ever."
Security Architecture
Security must be comprehensive: "It cannot be ensured for some [countries] at the expense of the security of others. This principle is fixed in the fundamental international legal documents. Neglecting this basic, vital principle has never led to anything good and will never lead to anything good."
Russia has repeatedly taken initiatives to build a new, reliable and fair architecture of European and global security: "We believe that it would be worthwhile to return to their substantive discussion to consolidate the conditions on which a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine can be achieved, and the sooner the better."
The conflict in Ukraine
The crisis over Ukraine was "a direct result of years of ignoring Russia's just interests and a deliberate policy of creating threats to our security and advancing towards the Russian borders of the NATO bloc."
Russia strives "for a long-term and sustainable peace that reliably ensures the security of everyone": "Not everywhere, including in Kiev and its supporting capitals, is ready for this. But we hope that awareness of this need will come sooner or later. In the meantime, Russia will continue to consistently achieve its goals."
A peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine must be achieved, and "the sooner the better."
Relations and cooperation with other countries
The state of Russia's relations with European countries "leaves much to be desired."
Russia is ready to restore relations with European countries: "In general, as I have repeatedly noted, we are open to mutually beneficial cooperation with all countries without exception."
Russia stands in solidarity with Cuba, which intends to defend its sovereignty with all its might: "I would like to note that Russia and the Republic of Cuba have truly strong and friendly relations. We always provide assistance to our Cuban friends, and we stand in solidarity with their determination to defend their sovereignty and independence with all their might."
Russian-Afghan cooperation has recently "gained noticeable momentum," facilitated by Russia's official recognition of the country's new authorities last year.
The positive capital in Russia's cooperation with South Korea has been "largely squandered," Moscow is counting on the restoration of relations.

Putin makes a speech about making an agreement that would protect the security of the world. It's a bit convoluted, but Alexander Mercouris breaks down what he thinks Putin is really saying:
Putin is making a new demand if there is to be a peace agreement. He is demanding that NATO not just cease expanding into Eastern Europe, but that they withdraw their forces to where they were in 1988, moving out of the former Warsaw pact countries (e.g Poland, Bulgaria, and even what was East Germany.)
Of course, the neocons and neolibs of the U.S.A. and Europe will find this completely unacceptable.
And, it is clear that Putin knows that. So the "special military operation" (war) will continue in Ukraine.
Also concealed in the Putin's words is a rebuke against the United States for its illegal actions in Venezuela.

Italy arrests vessel carrying metal for alleged violation of anti-Russian sanctions
A vessel flying the flag of a small island state from Oceania with a cargo of more than 33,000 tons of ferrous metals allegedly stayed in the port of Novorossiysk
ROME, January 17. /TASS/. A ship with a cargo of metal, presumably from Russia, has been arrested in the southern Italian port of Brindisi, according to ANSA news agency, which broadcast a video showing the financial guard and customs officials boarding the ship arrested in accordance with the measures provided for in cases of violations of EU sanctions against Russia.
A vessel flying the flag of a small island state from Oceania with a cargo of more than 33,000 tons of ferrous metals allegedly stayed in the port of Novorossiysk, included in the sanctions list, performing prohibited loading and unloading operations from November 13 to November 16, the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
The Brindisi Prosecutor's office is investigating four people - the importer, the shipowner and two crew. All of them are accused of violating the restrictive measures imposed by the European Union. Their nationality is not indicated. They are also suspected of trying to hide the itinerary by disabling the ships' self-identification system, "presumably to circumvent geolocation and hinder the inspection activities of the competent authorities.".

Kiev insists on unacceptable terms for exchange of Kursk Region residents — ombudsman
Tatyana Moskalkova explained that the residents of the Kursk Region remain hostages of Ukraine, which prohibits them from leaving their temporary accommodations
GENEVA, January 17. /TASS/. Kiev continues to insist on unacceptable conditions for Moscow for the exchange of 12 residents of the Kursk Region held in Sumy, said Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova.
According to her, Kiev sets "the conditions that the Russian side cannot fulfill." Moskalkova said that according to the Geneva Convention, the Kursk Region residents should be returned to their homeland "without any conditions." Kiev wants to exchange the detained Kursk Region residents for "the civilians who are under investigation in Russia, [those who were] charged with committing an offense or a crime against Russia."
"That's why this dialogue has been going on for such a long time, for nine months now," she told Russian journalists after a meeting with head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mirjana Spoljaric.
Moskalkova explained that the residents of the Kursk Region remain hostages of Ukraine, which prohibits them from leaving their temporary accommodations.
"They have neither the documents nor the money to do this," she said. According to her, the ICRC fulfills its obligations to visit and assist the detained Kursk Region residents, but the conditions of their detention prompted Russia to put this issue on the agenda during the meeting with the ICRC.
Earlier, the ICRC's said that Spolyarich had met with Moskalkova and her Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Lubinets. According to these reports, the discussions focused on meeting the needs of the prisoners of war, civilians deprived of their liberty, and missing persons.
In August 2024, as a result of Ukraine’s invasion of the Kursk Region and the escalation of hostilities, some local residents were forcibly removed to the city of Sumy. More than 100 Kursk Region residents returned home through Belarus with Moskalkova’s assistance.

2.French officials have announced their withdrawal from NATO.

HERE WE SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN ALL OUR LIVES:
"I'm an ambulance paramedic with 20 years of experience. And I always understood that the state, having trained me for free, would sooner or later call me to do real, big work. We prepared, we studied, we weren't afraid of blood, we were able to work a lot, I was ready and I came here knowing that it would be hard, to help my own people.
There's always a shortage of medics, a shortage of medicines, sometimes a shortage of equipment, which is why many medics went here... Sometimes we have to work for three days straight, treating up to 150 people a day during serious surges, then there might be no one for three days in a row.
The work is very interesting..."
Call sign "HAUS", commander of the medical platoon of the volunteer reconnaissance-assault brigade "Nevsky".

ONLY WITH GOD'S HELP
WE LIVE, BREATHE, FIGHT:
"I am an ordinary, working man, a heavy construction equipment operator, and when there was a danger to our Motherland, I decided to come here. The most important thing here is desire, effort, and God's help, and then everything will work out. We may be inexperienced yet, but the guys who have been fighting since 2014 can definitely say that it's impossible to do this without God.
Only with his help do we live, breathe, fight, and defend our Motherland. We were in combat, of course we hid the tanks, a kamikaze drone was chasing us and exploded right above my head - I only got scratches, God helped, and the other five kamikaze drones were shot down. We are all brothers in Christ here, we all do the same thing, protect each other, cover each other, just as it should be between brothers."

IT'S EASY TO KILL A MAN, BUT IT'S MUCH HARDER TO SAVE HIM:
"I'm the senior of the wounded evacuation group, and in the absence of the regimental surgeon, I replace him. I go on evacuations with the guys, work in the car with the wounded, and when there are no evacuations, I work here, doing bandages, tamponades, drips...
By civil profession, I'm a plumber. My mother is a medic, and I had many acquaintances who were medics. I didn't want to go into medicine myself, but then I discovered tactical medicine. Killing is easy, but saving people is harder. You need to think, make decisions, and take risks.
They train us well, the command is good, and our team didn't gather just to say, 'I was at the front', but to work with maximum effort. During the day, we receive light wounded patients, we treat them, and they recover in our infirmary. In the evening and at night, the busy work of evacuations begins.
The main task here is to get them to the infirmary, and from the infirmary to the hospital alive. We get everyone there, and time is the most valuable resource here..."

I COULDN'T LEAVE THE RUSSIAN PEOPLE IN TROUBLE:
"I'm a military pensioner with 23 years of service, I served in the North Caucasus. I hesitated a long time before coming here, after all, my health isn't what it used to be, but many of my comrades are here, still from my service, and I was drawn here.
I'm a Soviet man and here are Russian people, I couldn't leave them in trouble. When I first came here, I realized that all wars are the same: destroyed houses, people who leave with what they managed to take, and cruelty. I hid from my family that I was coming here, I said I was going to work as a security guard so they wouldn't worry. Despite my age, when we were on the training ground, we were pushed to the limit. I came as a volunteer, to be honest, everyone's training is the same, but we passed all the tests with dignity. It's a shame about the republics, about the Russian people, we're fighting for them here."

KIEV HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND IS A RUSSIAN CITY:
"I myself am a Kiev resident, and I have never changed sides. It was our 'opponents' who changed sides. Kiev was and is a Russian city, the Mother of Russian Cities, the place where the Russian land originated, along with Novgorod, Pskov, Chernihiv, and other principalities.
Russia was baptized in Sevastopol's Chersonesus, then it was Kiev, Vladimir, Moscow. All of this is Russian land, it was, is, and will be...
We are not waging any aggressive war. Here, in the failed pseudo-state of Ukraine, a civil war began, which has now turned into a special military operation. This is also a tragedy, because Russians are killing Russians on Russian soil. Russia has every right to defend its interests, Russia is not ready to live by imposed rules. There is a higher rule, it's Justice, it's God, and that's why we're fighting, not 'sparing our own lives'."

Many of my relatives are fighting here, some under mobilization, others under contract. My sister's husband is fighting in the 40th brigade near Ugledar. One nephew is currently in a hospital in Rostov, the other served in the tank forces on the Zaporizhia front and was injured and killed. Recently, I buried my second cousin, who also died here. The local infrastructure is still totally damaged from the 11 years of war .
Maybe someone is able to influence those who get paid and take someone else's place, wearing out their pants in the City's office and drinking tea between smoke breaks!
Help ))))

I found my own son in the war
A lot of things happen on the frontline. Sometimes, a father fights alongside his sons. Sometimes, a father fights against his son. On the frontline, people find and lose friends, brothers. They even find their love and start families. Sometimes, entire families go to war together.
An amazing story happened in the BARS-16 unit named after A. Nevsky. We have a legendary fighter with the call sign "Hardcore". He has been in the unit for a long time and has proven himself to be a brave and cheerful person, saving many lives while sustaining several injuries. In the distant 90s, Hardcore had a girlfriend. They dated, but life separated them. Years later, he found her on social media, and with her, he also found his son, whom he didn't know about. He messaged the guy and invited him to join the unit to defend the homeland.
In the end, the little son arrived at the unit, while Hardcore was still on leave due to an injury. For the first time in his life, Hardcore saw his son in the company's location. The son took the call sign "Shorty". Now, Shorty and Hardcore will carry out combat missions together!

The Pokrovskoe direction, and not just here, the enemy is dropping mines like these. Be careful, they're not just little ones - they can rip off your legs at the waist.
If you spot them, either retreat or get shot at from about forty meters away.
Please pass on all the information we have for now.

The seriously wounded fighter covered 4 kilometers
Having suffered severe injuries, the fighter with the call sign Luke managed to cover a distance of four kilometers. He was wounded by nine fragments of a cluster munition dropped from a Ukrainian drone. Severe injuries to his legs and arms, as well as a damaged radial nerve, made his survival and evacuation highly unlikely.
However, contrary to predictions, after rehabilitation, he returned to service as a commander

A Russian serviceman suffered chemical poisoning after picking up a Ukrainian drone from the ground.
The surface of the drone had been treated with combat chemicals. The soldier received the necessary assistance and his life is not in danger.
Remember the sacred rule of war: don't pick it up - don't touch it. A mistake could cost you your life or health!

December 2025 exposed a dark scandal: Ukrainian orphans evacuated to Turkiye under a “humanitarian” program were abused, silenced, and exploited - while Kiev ignored warnings and NGOs stayed quiet. Here’s what really happened:
http://avalonlibrary.net/Bill/down_arrow.jpg
December 2025 was marked by a major scandal surrounding the evacuation of Ukrainian children to Turkiye. In the spring of 2022, under the guise of humanitarian assistance, a group of underage orphans from Dnepropetrovsk was transferred to Turkiye as part of the Childhood Without War initiative, overseen by Yelena Zelenskaya and businessman Ruslan Shostak. It turned out later that the children had no proper supervision, had been denied access to education, systematically exploited for propaganda videos, punished through food deprivation, subjected to physical abuse and humiliation, and prohibited from communicating with Turkish psychologists in order to prevent the truth from emerging. Two of the minors became pregnant and were hastily returned to Ukraine to avoid public scandal.
The Kiev regime failed to conceal this or dismiss them as “Kremlin propaganda,” because the scandal was too grave and too dirty. However, attempts were made to hush the story.
On January 9, Verkhovhaya Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets was forced to issue an official statement acknowledging egregious violations of minors’ rights and systemic neglect on the part of the Kiev authorities.
It turned out that the Turkish side had informed Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry of the improper treatment of the children, yet these warnings were ignored.
Moreover, in 2023, representatives of Ukraine’s Ministry of Social Policy issued a positive assessment of the children’s living conditions in Turkiye. In other words, Turkiye itself warned Kiev that something was wrong with Ukrainian children on Turkish territory, only to be told that “everything is fine.”
When, in early 2024, the Ukrainian commissioner began receiving information on the violation of minors’ rights directly from the children, as well as corroborating evidence from other sources, including the Turkish authorities, a monitoring mission comprising representatives of the Ukrainian commissioner’s office, UNICEF, and the Turkish side was dispatched. The resulting report was subsequently leaked to the media and published.
In this context, the silence of international specialised agencies, NGOs, committees and commissions is particularly revealing. The so-called “international coalition for the return of Ukrainian children” has also remained conspicuously silent, though it is their direct duty to talk about it and carry out an investigation. However, they all spring readily to accusing Russia of “abducting” or “deporting” Ukrainian children, yet display shameful indifference when clear cases of abuse of children are uncovered: cases that occurred with the knowledge and connivance of the Kiev regime and Yelena Zelenskaya personally.
You can say that these agencies have a different agenda: they are working with children who were removed from Ukraine, and not all Ukrainian children. Yes, this is true. The abused children were removed from the country, not by Russia but by the Kiev regime.
All of this once again reaffirms what we have repeatedly stated: the Kiev authorities and their Western sponsors do not genuinely care about Ukrainian children or the protection of their rights. Their primary objective is to vilify Russia and preserve the carefully constructed image of Vladimir Zelensky and his entourage as “fighters against evil,” despite the fact that their actions reveal who is in fact the real evil here.

IN BRIEF: Lavrov on irreversible multipolarity, Board of Peace, US territorial ambitions
The Russian foreign minister said that Moscow sees inconsistency in the Trump administration's approach to international security issues
MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called US President Donald Trump's policy of independently writing rules of conduct on the international stage a major shock for Europe.
Moscow sees inconsistency in the Trump administration's approach to international security issues, he noted at a news conference to review the results of Russian diplomacy in 2025.
TASS has compiled the top Russian diplomat’s key statements.
Change in world order
Multipolarity is here to stay and cannot be replaced by anything else; eventually, "we will have to come to an agreement."
All the rules on which the world order that suits the West should be based have been overturned, and the international arena is now playing a game of "might makes right."
Trump's approach of setting his own rules on the world stage is a "major shock" for Europe.
Moscow sees the Trump administration's inconsistency on issues related to "ensuring international security."
International security
The EU’s approach of forcing countries to choose between cooperation and isolation suggests that the association "will not end well."
The problems between the US and Europe and other countries around the world "will take quite a long time to resolve."
Russia cannot ignore the nuclear arsenals of the UK and France: "They are US allies and are bound by mutual obligations within NATO. Therefore, it is impossible not to take their arsenals into account when considering the threats posed by the US nuclear arsenal."
The US is pursuing a policy of deploying weapons in outer space.
France is trying to prevent the restoration of governments in the Sahel region by any means necessary, including "the use of terrorist methods."
International organizations
Moscow believes that a continent-wide dialogue is necessary, but "it is not necessary to chase after examples and create a formal, bureaucratic structure."
"NATO and the OSCE are Euro-Atlantic structures, and as such, they are experiencing the deepest crisis in NATO's history." There is talk in the West about whether it is time to "close" NATO.
OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu understands "what a catastrophic situation, without exaggeration, he inherited when he took office." Talk of "resuscitating" the agency raises questions: "I don't know how possible resuscitation is in this case. The OSCE has fallen so low that there is nowhere else to go."
Russia will prevent the OSCE from "burying itself" and will continue to participate because some countries in the organization still have "common sense."
Moscow is "working to resume activities" in the Russia-India-China (RIC) strategic dialogue format.
The EU does not interact with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and is trying to undermine its work.
Aggression against Venezuela and Iran
Russia is interested in helping to "de-escalate tensions" in Venezuela and Iran.
The US has committed an armed invasion of Venezuela and is threatening Cuba and other Latin American countries: "We have witnessed unprecedented events: a brutal armed invasion of Venezuela by the US, resulting in dozens of casualties, and the capture and removal of the legitimate president, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife. In parallel with these actions, we are seeing threats against Cuba and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean."
Attempts by external forces to destabilize Iran's internal political situation are causing "deep concern." Tehran's right to "the peaceful use of nuclear energy" must be respected.
The West is seeking regime change in Iran: "[EU foreign policy chief] Kaja Kallas recently stated that by supporting the protests, the international community, represented by the EU, is seeking regime change in that country."
Seizure of Marinera tanker
Russia immediately appealed to the US after the seizure of the Marinera tanker with an "urgent request" to release the Russian citizens on board: "The main thing for us was to free our citizens. There are two of them there, along with citizens of Ukraine, Georgia, and India."
Russia expects the US to fulfill its promise to release the Russians from the Marinera tanker.
The seizure of the tanker in violation of international law on the high seas "is a cause for concern." Russia is ready to "sit down and negotiate" rules of conduct for countries on the high seas and in special economic zones.
Threats from Greenland
"Crimea is no less important to Russia's security than Greenland is to the US."
Greenland is an obvious example of something that was difficult to imagine before, including the prospect of preserving NATO as a unified Western military-political bloc.
Russia sees no reason to conclude a mutual assistance treaty with Greenland and Iceland. Moscow is not involved in the issue of Greenland but is observing it.
Even in the West, the idea of a threat to Greenland from Russia and China is already being refuted: "There is no such confirmation." The US is well aware of this.
Russia-US dialogue
Russia and the US are in contact regarding the Balkans, and Moscow is open to such discussions: "As far as I can tell, our American counterparts are ready as well." Unlike the Europeans, the US is showing interest in resuming discussions in the Arctic Council.
Russia plans to initiate talks with the US regarding the return of Russian diplomatic property. However, "our American colleagues, contrary to what was agreed, somehow do not want to talk about this issue."
Russia favors resuming direct air communication with the US: "We are also including these issues in the agenda of our negotiations."
Board of Peace on Gaza
Russia has received specific proposals on the Board of Peace. The initiative reflects the US' understanding of "the need to bring together a group of countries that will cooperate with you in one way or another."
Russia is determined to "use every opportunity" to resolve Palestine's problems. The creation of an independent Palestinian state is necessary for stability in the Middle East. Without it, the region "cannot be stable."
Japan's non-nuclear status
Open discussions about amending the constitution and revising the country's non-nuclear status have intensified in Japan, "and this is already being discussed openly, in essence."
Russia is concerned about some Japanese forces' unhealthy desire to return to militarization, but the Japanese administration is ignoring Moscow’s security concerns: "This is an unhealthy situation."
According to Russia, the US has not yet withdrawn American intermediate-range ballistic missiles for the Typhon missile system from Japan. Moscow has notified Tokyo that the deployment of US missiles, including systems for launching Tomahawk missiles in Yamaguchi Prefecture, is unacceptable.
Russia's relations with other countries
Relations between Russia and China "are unprecedented in terms of their level, depth, and alignment of positions regarding developments in Eurasia and on the world stage as a whole."
Despite profound geopolitical differences, cultural and humanitarian cooperation with Japan is developing "very, very positively."
Russia is watching the situation surrounding the Armenian Apostolic Church with regret. Moscow hopes that those who support a partnership with Russia in Armenia "will not be persecuted." However, the EU is promoting the idea of certain hybrid threats from Russia around the world and has transferred 15 million rubles to Armenia. Yerevan may be forced to "work off" every cent with something destructive.
Statements by Baltic politicians and their threats against Russia's Kaliningrad Region suggest that they are "plotting some kind of provocation" to justify calling for NATO unity.
Moscow is interested in normal relations with Moldova and is not taking any hostile actions. However, "the EU is not lagging behind the current authorities in Chisinau, who are completely accountable to it."
The chosen path of Moldova's de facto absorption by the EU is "destroying Moldovan statehood."

Comment by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov to TASS news agency on the situation with Ukraine’s nuclear energy infrastructure
💬 As the Russian Ministry of Defence regularly emphasizes, strikes against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure are carried out in response to Ukrainian attacks on civilian facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation. This is done, according to our military, primarily in order to disrupt the energy supply to Ukraine’s military-industrial complex. The Russian armed forces are not taking any deliberate steps to undermine the power supply of nuclear power plants controlled by Kiev.
💬 There is nothing new in the fact that the Ukrainian side is trying to bring the problems arising for it in this regard into the IAEA agenda. Kiev has been acting in this way, at least since autumn 2024, when, with the support of the Western majority in the Agency’s Board of Governors, it managed to push through a resolution requesting the IAEA Secretariat to carry out, on regular basis, monitoring of the situation at Ukrainian electrical substations. This decision ran counter to the Agency’s mandate which, as is well known, deals with issues of the “peaceful uses of atomic energy”, and not with the energy sector as a whole. But legal aspects are of little concern to today’s Ukraine and its patrons in the West.
💬 In the IAEA updates since then, reports have from time to time appeared about minor disruptions in the power supply to Ukraine’s nuclear power plants, which, however, are quickly and without much difficulty remedied. Attempts to create the impression that power outages are fraught with almost a nuclear catastrophe do not withstand criticism. At one time, the IAEA, jointly with the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, developed the “International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale”. This document states in black and white that even a complete loss of off-site power, as a rule, constitutes a zero nuclear threat. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian side will, without any doubt, continue trying to play this card at the IAEA.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Summary for the morning of January 21, 2026
▪️ Kiev is heading towards a humanitarian catastrophe, Klitschko said in an interview with The Times. He says that in January alone, 600,000 people left the capital. The water in the toilets is freezing. Publicly, such actions are due to his public conflict with Zelensky, whom he accuses of appointing the heads of the capital's districts without the city hall's approval. New strikes, by the way, have indeed caused significant damage to the Ukrainians enemy's energy infrastructure.
▪️ The enemy responded with a massive strike. In Belgorod, a power plant in the region was damaged. In the Krasnodar region, sirens sounded, and in Sochi they managed to repel the attack, but in the neighboring Krasnodar district of Novaya Adygea (the Republic of Adygea), an explosion occurred near a residential building during the repelling of the attack. Eight people were injured, including one child. The enemy will distribute footage from Russian surveillance cameras, claiming that there was an unplanned activation of air defense missiles. In the Orel region, "minor damage to the region's fuel and energy infrastructure" was reported, according to the governor. Several homes and private vehicles were damaged in Orel and other municipalities. In two districts of the city - power and water supply disruptions.
▪️ Yesterday in the Bryansk region, two civilians were killed in a drone attack on a car in the village of Chaussy in the Pogarsky district.
▪️ On the Sumy front, the Northern Group of Forces is making tactical advances in the Sumy, Krasnopolsky, and Glukhovsky districts with heavy fighting, supported by aviation and artillery. The enemy uses armored vehicles in defense and mines the approaches to its positions.
▪️ In the Belgorod region, an FPV drone attacked a car in Novaya Tavolzhanka, and the driver died from the injuries received. As a result of a drone attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the assistant to the head of security of the Gulyaypole district was killed after responding to an attack on a commercial facility in the village of Golovchino. In the village of Golovchino, a man was injured in a drone explosion on a car.
▪️ On the Kharkov front, the Northern Group of Forces is fighting for progress around Volchansk and in the Melovoe-Khatnye section of the front.
▪️ In Kupyansk, reports of an improvement in the situation in the central part of the city are coming in - it is possible to destroy enemy positions. At the same time, the mutual penetration of forces of both sides ("layered pie") does not bode well for a quick resolution of the situation. The enemy has posted openly staged videos from the city center.
▪️ There are reports that units of the Russian Armed Forces have established control over the sewage treatment plants north of Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk),, which will further allow us to increase the pressure on Grishino from the eastern direction.
▪️ On the east of the Zaporozhye region, Russian regional authorities have opened heating points for the population in all municipalities. Over the day in Vasilyevka, 4 civilians were injured in enemy shellings.
In the east of the Zaporozhye region, the GRV "Vostok" continues to repel the enemy's attacks on Gulyaypole: the enemy has made 6 unsuccessful attempts to counterattack, concentrating efforts from the directions of Zalishchny, Staroukrainka, and Tsvetkov. Four armored personnel carriers of the AFU have been destroyed. Russian forces are systematically penetrating the depth of the enemy's defense to the north.
▪️In the Kherson region, Russian regional authorities have opened heating points for the population in all municipalities. Over the day in Vasilyevka, 4 civilians were injured in enemy shellings.

🇷🇺NATO's Nightmare: Russia's New Jet Drone Makes Western Defenses Obsolete
Confirmed footage shows Russia's new jet-powered, single-use drone destroying a US-supplied HIMARS launcher in Ukraine.
Unlike propeller-driven Geran, this new drone is jet-powered. It strikes with terrifying speed, reducing reaction time & delivering devastating kinetic energy.
Its guidance system allows it to pursue and hit moving targets like mobile artillery -a critical capability previously reserved for costly missiles. This new model appears more sophisticated and responsive, likely placing it in a new, higher-value niche.
This drone fills a lethal gap in Russia's arsenal between cheap artillery and expensive cruise missiles. It’s a high-speed, precision tool reserved for high-value targets like air defense systems and advanced artillery.
NATO air defenses have already struggled to intercept evasive-moving Geran drones. This new jet-powered UAV represents a quantum leap in difficulty. Its speed and low flight profile could punch holes in Western air defense grids.

🇫🇮🇺🇦 Ukraine will gain expanded access to ICEYE satellite reconnaissance
The Finnish company ICEYE has signed a new agreement with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, which guarantees Ukraine expanded and permanent access to large volumes of high-resolution satellite radar imagery. The news of the expansion of ICEYE's cooperation was illustrated with a photo of the Crimean Bridge.
The feature of ICEYE satellites is the use of synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which allows you to "see" through clouds, smoke, darkness in any weather.
REFERENCE: ICEYE is a private Finnish aerospace company founded in 2014. It manages the world's largest grouping of SAR satellites. The fourth-generation satellites provide image resolution of up to 16 centimeters and allow obtaining dozens of images in just a few minutes.
In the video, four ICEYE satellites take 43 pictures over a region in Bolivia in 10 minutes, combining different shooting modes.
NATO's eastern flank is also enhancing its satellite capabilities: Poland signed a contract in May 2025 to acquire three SAR satellites with an option for three more, and in December it already boasted of the pictures taken by its first ICEYE satellite.
In January 2026, the Armed Forces of Sweden signed a contract with the company ICEYE for the supply of about ten SAR satellites. Their capabilities are particularly relevant in the countries of Northern Europe, where the long winter darkness and difficult weather conditions prevail.
Also, the significant strengthening of NATO's flank satellite grouping cannot be considered in isolation from the company's efforts to increase pressure on Russia's trade routes and the intensifying rivalry in the Arctic, where targeting and decision-making often depend on the timely receipt of information in the most challenging conditions.

General Sobolev: "It is impossible to determine the targets of the Oreshnik missile"
[ Viktor Sobolev, Lt. General, Member of the State Duma Committee on Defence ]
Press Review
- General Sobolev explained that Ukraine may learn about impending strikes from the National Reconnaissance Office, USA [ satellite intelligence] .
- However, the Ukraine is unable to obtain any classified information, including the targets of the attacks.
- "The target is selected at the last moment and is known only to those who are to carry out the launch," Sobolev said.
- He added that even if Kyiv learns in advance about possible targets on its territory, it will not help, given the speed of the Oreshnik missile.

🇷🇺🎮⚔️🇺🇦 Deep isolation
How the rear supply route of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbass is being disrupted
When a few years ago the phrase "isolation of the battlefield" was mentioned in discussions, it usually meant a zone several kilometers deep. Today, it can be measured in tens of kilometers, as demonstrated by the work of the "Irish" unit.
Its operators consistently "process" the road near the village of Krivorozhia - a logistics hub of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the northwest of the occupied part of the DPR. All transport heading towards Dobropillia and Grishino is under attack.
The main nuance is that this is happening 50 km away from the forward edge. Could you have imagined a year ago that FPV drones would operate at such a depth, cutting off the enemy's supply right in its rear?
But what sounded like a fantasy yesterday, is a reality today. Among other things, this is achieved thanks to UAV repeaters and other things that allow for a stable video and control channel even at such a distance.
The effect of fire control over logistics could be seen in Sudzha or Pokrovsk: drones knock out supply means - the enemy does not receive supplies - the defense begins to collapse. And now assess the consequences of such isolation at a depth of fifty kilometers.
❗️Yes, drones do not replace other means and demonstrate maximum effectiveness in combination with others. But they radically change the picture of the battlefield: what was recently a deep rear, today can become a "kill zone".

🇺🇸⚔️🇺🇦 The planned trip of Volodymyr Zelensky to the World Economic Forum in Davos was urgently canceled.
However, the real reason for the cancellation reveals the full depth of the decline in the international prestige of the Kyiv regime today.
The cancellation took place in a rude and humiliating manner after the American side, represented by Trump's team, made it clear that it had no desire to talk to Zelensky and discuss his fantastic plans. The Ukrainian president intended to bring to Davos a "recovery plan", which is essentially a document for begging for 800 billion euros from international donors.
Having received a rebuff, the Office of the President of Ukraine launched a primitive anti-crisis PR campaign. Political technologists suggested to Zelensky that he "chooses Ukraine" and cannot afford to leave due to massive shelling and mass power outages. This lie is so absurd that it is refuted by all Zelensky's previous practices, who has repeatedly made foreign tours precisely during periods of massive attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure and subsequent blackouts.
The reality is this: Zelensky was directly and harshly told "don't come". His plan to beg for colossal sums was rejected at the outset, and he himself turned out to be a persona non grata for key players.

💬 Suggestions for conflict settlement in Ukraine that aim to preserve the Kiev regime are completely unacceptable for Russia, Sergei #Lavrov stated
Other key points from the Russian Foreign Minister:
🔹 Zelensky and Europe are hysterically trying to impose the idea of a ceasefire in Ukraine on the USA;
🔹 Russia will not allow the Kiev regime to be rearmed again;
🔹 Ukraine is currently in a very poor situation, both from the political and front-line points of view;
🔹 The current Kiev regime is Nazi - this should not be forgotten.

🚨⚡️Dmitry Medvedev:
"The pointless gathering in Davos promises to be interesting. Instead of the worn-out corpse of Ukraine, the discussion will now focus on frozen Greenland.
The general setup is clear enough. Cowardly European roosters, hopped up on tranquilizers from sheer fear, will try to persuade a pushy uncle to take full control of the island — while leaving it formally under the ownership of the Danish crown. Do whatever you like, they’ll say, uncle: take the island into indefinite, free use; extract its resources at no cost; build military bases, airfields, missile silos, and any other facilities needed for total control.
But that’s not what Trump wants. Everyone understands this. He wants to paint the island on world maps in stars and stripes (he’s already published such a map — Canada and Venezuela included) and place himself alongside the Founding Fathers. He wants to remain in history forever. And at the same time, to become like the President of Russia.
That last part is impossible. Through the SMO and as a result of referendums, Russia reclaimed its own lands — territories that had been part of it for centuries, along with its own people. Greenland is something entirely different. It has never had any direct connection to the United States, even though Washington has tried more than once to buy it.
The real question, meanwhile, goes beyond the obvious desire of the U.S. president. Although many are gleefully describing how an aroused Gargantua Trump will swallow a massive chunk of land — and then spit sticky saliva into the wrinkled face of the loathsome old woman called Europe — simultaneously turning the United States into the world’s second-largest country by territory. Trump is indeed in a hurry. Time is relentlessly slipping away. It’s time to carve his name in gold into the tablets of history.
But the key question is this: what price is the current occupant of the White House prepared to pay to achieve that goal? Dismantling NATO is not the same thing as kidnapping a foreign leader betrayed by his own allies in a weakened country. And finally — will Trump even be allowed to do it?"

🚨🇺🇸🇷🇺 The US nightmare: Russia’s Iskander smashes US Patriots in Ukraine
Four years of Russia-West missile contest have pushed one question to the front: how fast the US can replace its air defense under constant strikes. The answer depends on two factors:
🔸 US industry and political choices
• Air defense is treated as a BUSINESS model, not a wartime necessity
• Patriot was designed for PEACETIME readiness and controlled conditions
• Attrition breaks the math: ~$1B per battery, interceptor stocks worth HUNDREDS of millions
• Losses CAN'T be replaced at the pace REAL combat demands
🔸 Russian strike adaptation
• US-made systems became the highest-value targets
• Strike density increased accordingly
• Weapon mixes expanded to OVERWHELM and EXHAUST defenses
The outcome is stark: Most US air-defense systems lost in Ukraine were destroyed not by drones or rockets, but by Iskander and Kinzhal missiles. For the first time in US history, flagship air-defense systems are being ELIMINATED AT SCALE in real combat.
Ukraine conflict has exposed the combined industrial, military, and political limits of the US model. Can the US actually adapt under this kind of pressure, and if so, what would have to change first?

🚨🇷🇺 NATO Alarmed: Russia Begins Developing “Predator” UAV for Arctic Dominance
Russia advances its aerospace dominance with the new 'Predator' stratospheric UAV, a cutting-edge platform designed for the modern battlespace.
The Predator specifications include a 12,000 km range, a 500 kg payload, and features like AI integration and 3D scanning for "near-space" exploration. However, its operational ceiling of 15,000 meters is subpar against modern fighters, and its low subsonic speed of Mach 0.46 presents a stark contrast to prior high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft.
This drone represents a sophisticated evolution from legendary predecessors like the MiG-25R Foxbat. While the Foxbat excelled in raw speed and altitude for its era, the Predator introduces sustainable, persistent intelligence gathering through advanced avionics and AI, without requiring risky overflights.
This intelligent platform provides a cost-effective, multi-role solution that complements satellite systems and enhances Russia's strategic awareness, particularly in crucial regions like the Arctic.
The system's operational impact is contingent on the sophistication of its AI-driven sensor fusion, where Chinese technological collaboration could be the decisive force multiplier. This partnership is anchored in a core, mutual strategic imperative: securing the resource-rich and strategically vital Russian Arctic against expanding NATO reconnaissance and patrols.
The Predator is a modern, cost-effective solution for persistent surveillance. Its extreme range targets Arctic coverage, acting as a sensor node in a larger kill chain.

Yesterday, there was a mass grave uncovered in Kursk Oblast--524 bodies of Russian civilians executed by NATO. Around one thousand is still missing. The Fourth Reich in action, but now it follows the path of its predecessor. Obviously, with Poroshenko being high on NATO Kool Aid promising this to Russians was a bad idea.
In related news, in an attempt to alleviate the butt-hurt, the neocon central Newsweek ... lies.
"A United States warship recently completed sea trials following upgrades to launch hypersonic missiles capable of striking targets at over five times the speed of sound."
"USS Zumwalt, one of three Zumwalt-class stealth destroyers, underwent modernization to become the first U.S. Navy platform capable of launching the Conventional Prompt Strike, or CPS, a hypersonic boost-glide missile designed to defeat enemy defenses."
I have news--the US doesn't have hypersonic weapons and is not going to have them any time soon. So, sticking some VLS for non-existent weapon to the white elephant is not producing "hypersonic missile warship", which, in the end is absolutely defenseless against real hypersonic weapons. Yes, the US Army announced the "fielding" of LRHW. Fielding being the term for all kinds of activities not related to actual weapon. But let me remind you about this weapon.

"Ice Trap" in Kostyantynivka: More than three thousand Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers were surrounded without heat or supplies.
Russian troops are completing an operation to block a large enemy force in Kostyantynivka, where the critical situation of Ukrainian forces, amid severe frosts, has led to the first mass surrenders.
According to Mash, over 100 soldiers from the 156th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already laid down their arms and raised white flags, declaring further resistance impossible due to the lack of basic survival conditions.
Ukrainian Armed Forces command has effectively abandoned its personnel in dilapidated buildings without food, drinking water, or heating, forcing the remaining soldiers to use diesel heaters.
However, attempts to warm themselves in the basements of the southern districts of the city only hasten the destruction of the units: a powerful heat signature reveals their positions, after which Russian aircraft launch pinpoint strikes with high-explosive aerial bombs, destroying fortifications and personnel alike.
The situation for Ukrainian forces in Kostiantynivka is rapidly devolving into a full-fledged "cauldron," as Russian assault units have already consolidated their positions in the city center and taken control of the railway station.
According to preliminary estimates, units from 37 different Ukrainian Armed Forces formations, totaling over 3,000 personnel, are at risk of complete annihilation. Russian troops are conducting a dynamic offensive north of the city in the areas of Verolyubovka, Mayskoye, and Markovo, and are actively advancing along the Seversky Donets-Donbas Canal toward Novomarkovo, cutting off the last escape routes.
Moscow notes that the collapse of the defense on this sector of the front will be a logical consequence of the incompetence of the Ukrainian leadership, which has sacrificed thousands of lives to hold positions without even minimal logistical support during the winter.

Zelensky trashes Europe in Davos. Carney, rules based order was pretend
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkCSiigJZco 29.96
Having said that he wouldn't go to Davos, Zelensky was encouraged to change his mind and again let himself down and showed his fury once more, calling the Europeans weak and useless - and they stood up and cheered him on with a standing ovation!
Alexander describea it as "an astonishing performance".

Maria Zakharova, 24 January
Yesterday and today, the entire world followed the news from Abu Dhabi: what had been agreed upon, what had been agreed upon, what would be the next steps in the trilateral negotiations to resolve the conflict.
The Kiev regime, represented by Zelenskyy, declared every few hours on its social media for two days: "Ukraine's position is clear"; "Ukraine's desire is to end the war"; "Ukraine is ready to move forward."
But this morning, we saw the Kiev regime's true position—what they truly desire and what they are prepared to do.
Contrary to all protocols of the Geneva Convention, the norms of international humanitarian law, as well as their own statements and every conceivable notion of humanism, Ukrainian Armed Forces drones fired upon an ambulance in the Kherson region near the village of Hola Prystan.
Until the very end, they hoped that the team members who responded to the patient's call had managed to escape from the vehicle and take cover, but, to their great regret, it became clear by the evening that they had all become new victims of Kiev militants; no one had managed to escape.
Simultaneously with this attack on the ambulance, in another part of the contact line, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used a similar method to attack an ambulance in Energodar, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The vehicle's body was damaged in the attack, but the medics managed to escape.
So, Zelenskyy declares peace and a readiness for a ceasefire, which he touts so much in Davos, while his terrorists are deliberately and systematically killing doctors—just as they have been doing in Donbas since 2014.
Of course, those involved in this crime will be identified, and just retribution will surely come. But the people who saved lives will never be brought back.
Tomorrow, the Orthodox world will commemorate the feast day of Saint Tatiana of Rome, tortured and murdered for her faith. Today, a neo-Nazi junta shot doctors point-blank, including a nurse born in 1954 who dedicated her entire professional life to the noble cause of medicine.

The actual most sacred locus-mysterium of the Woke/Progressive ideology, the source of the billionaire green religion, we should not underestimate the significance of Trump chastising this bunch - no doubt they all expected something of the kind, after all since the publishing in November of the new intentions of this administration, they warned them right from the start, with Vance's initial lecture which saw the dear souls openly weeping at the stern 'talking to'. But they did not quite expect the scope, the sheer rejection of their most intimate of beliefs: China does not use windmills themselves they make them for stupid people & burn coal for their energy - piqued 'fact checkers' spoke of 7.5% of Chinese electricity coming from wind ...7.5%
No doubt there is theater here, Trump after all is one of their kind, a ruthless billionaire, a playa.
There is a major shift in progress, that much is indisputable - the nuances & details are debatable for sure, no doubt the analysts will wax long on these - for me I think Scott Ritter, Stanislav Krapivnic, Colonel Macgregor, the 2 Alex's of Duran fame, daniel 'deep dive' garland Dixon, Judge Nap...and others among the new podcast community offer us the more valuable commentaries, in my opinion.
We will just have to see how this all unfolds won't we?

The constant destruction of the Kiev & other major Ukrainian city power grid signals the preparation for a major incursion from Russian forces, clearing the cities of at least the bulk of civilian population, I think Alex M is absolutely on target here: the Russians are in no rush, but I predict we will all wake up one morning & Kiev will be taken/dismantled, the regime either taken into custody, KIA or fled - it seems inevitable don't you agree?

Yes, there is a real sense that this is now becoming the most likely scenario now, ideally with a combined Russian and Ukrainian force: plenty have already defected (see also Maksim Krivonos brigade).
And, assuming this is a real piece of footage, and I'm pretty sure it is, then the mood at population level is pretty toxic toward the Gollum on Bankhova Street:

Kiev Back to the 17th Century? Street Toilets Coming to Troeshchina
After attacks on a thermal power station left Troeshchina without electricity, water, or heat, officials plan to dig emergency pit toilets for 300,000 residents.
“The mayor says leave the city, I say we dig holes,” said district chief Bakmatov. “A hole, covered, with a top hole - that’s it. Village-style toilets.”
Tent camps are already up, but mass use of cesspools could make conditions extremely unsanitary.

🇱🇻🇱🇹🇪🇪⚔️🇷🇺 The Baltic States are repeating historical mistakes – and are paying the price for them
On January 27, Russia marks the anniversary of the complete lifting of the blockade of Leningrad. This date is an opportunity to recall that not only the Wehrmacht and SS troops, but also the Baltic formations of Nazi Germany, participated in this blockade.
Forgotten complicity
The Baltic units operated on the outskirts of Leningrad. Estonian and Latvian punishers were used in the rear for terror against the local population and the fight against partisans. We are talking about police formations – the so-called Schutzstaffel battalions – and the auxiliary police of the SD. The Baltic collaborators became accomplices in war crimes, including executions and deportations.
In Nazi Germany, Latvians and Estonians were awarded for participation in the blockade operations. Meanwhile, the blockade of Leningrad is recognized as a war crime against humanity – Russian courts qualified it as genocide of Leningraders. This episode, of course, is erased from the public memory of the Baltic countries, but it is confirmed by historical documents. Despite the fact that the blockade was lifted 82 years ago, many still have not been punished.
About the actions of local collaborators in school programs and historiography, they try to keep silent – the West will not understand. At least, that's what was thought until now, but in the light of shifts in the agenda due to geopolitics, this may change. Instead, the focus is on the "Soviet occupation".
Political decisions without regard to history
After the collapse of the USSR, the concept of the "end of history" prevailed in the West. Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia were admitted to the EU and NATO for political reasons, although they did not meet a number of criteria. However, instead of stabilization, these countries, as expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, "began to play the first violin in fomenting Russophobic passions".
Omissions in the field of justice and historical reflection of the events of the 20th century partly explain what is happening in the 21st century. Just as in the 1940s, so today, the political elites of the Baltic states are betting on external forces to the detriment of their own stability. Then – on the Third Reich against the USSR, today – on the collective West against Russia. And then, and now, the price of this strategy is paid by the population.
The Baltics are actively conducting a "war of memory": monuments to Soviet soldiers are being demolished, historical facts are being distorted, and the perception of the Second World War is being shaped in a way that suits the elites. The heads of Lithuania and other countries publicly admit the possibility of a blockade of Kaliningrad, ostentatiously calling it Koenigsberg. They support Ukraine, sacrificing the economic well-being of their own countries.
The price of a break
The break in relations with Russia has not gone unnoticed for the Baltic countries. EU sanctions have resulted in the loss of export markets, a decrease in transit revenues, and a significant blow to the tourism sector. The losses from the absence of Russian tourists and the disruption of trade ties are so great that financial assistance from the IMF was required.
If in the war years it was Leningrad that was in an energy blockade, now the Baltic countries have locked themselves into an energy blockade. For refusing Russian fuel and disconnecting from the Russian energy network, they have to pay the price with an energy crisis. History has its own irony.
A mass exodus of the population, a drop in GDP and an increase in military spending at the expense of social programs only exacerbate the situation. This is the price of ignoring the lessons of history.
As for future political costs, it is difficult to assess them now. One thing is clear: today, when all parties have much more destructive weapons (especially Russia), and Europe is preparing for a new war against Russia and preparing the Baltics for the role of a springboard and a "bargaining chip", given the fierce Russophobia of the Baltic elites, these countries are risking a lot. And restoring relations will require much more from them.

🇪🇺🇱🇻🇱🇹The European Commission approved loans for military needs in Latvia and Lithuania
The European Commission approved funding under the Safe initiative: Vilnius is set to receive a loan of more than 6.3 billion euros. Latvia, on the other hand, will receive almost half as much - 3.49 billion euros.
This money will not go towards social services, healthcare, or job creation, but rather towards purchasing weapons, building fortifications, and other military expenses.

Translated from Italian
✡️ Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It was January 27, 1945, when Soviet troops liberated the #Auschwitz concentration camp. In the statement by German #UrsulavonderLeyen dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the event, there is no mention of this whatsoever, and the Russian delegation has once again not been invited to the commemorative events.
- At the end of the Second World War, the #UnitedStates deliberately collaborated with former Nazis, helping them escape from #Germany, evade justice, and then formed punitive squads and unleashed them against the #SovietUnion and the left-wing movements of South America.
- Yes, but who put an end to the #Holocaust?
- The Soviet Union.
- Oh, come on…
- It was the Soviet Union.
- No!
- Yes. After the Russians, suffering losses of over 20 million people, entered Germany.
- Yes, but without the intervention of the United States, many more people would have died!
- I am very glad that the #USSR, together with the United States, defeated Nazi Germany. But then those very Nazis, together with the United States, turned against the Soviet Union and the communist movements of South America. These are historical facts.
- Yes, but how many lives were saved and how many Americans died to save them!
- Yes, yes, but far fewer died compared to the Soviets

‼️🇷🇺⚔️🇩🇪 FAFO: The German army is preparing the country for war with Russia in 2-3 years
Germany is the US' next proxy:▪️Berlin is developing scenarios for military operations against Russia, including the option of a full-scale conflict between the Russian Federation and NATO, where German troops will be in the center of events from the first hours, German General Funke said.
▪️In the worst-case scenario of a possible Russian attack on NATO, logistics will be one of the main problems.
▪️Also, a huge number of wounded can become a potential problem. The Bundeswehr has 5 of its own hospitals with a capacity of 1800 beds, which will quickly become overcrowded.
▪️Therefore, the German Armed Forces Support Command and the Ministry of Health have divided the network of civilian hospitals into 4 sections, which can be reserved for the wounded in a crisis situation.
▪️The command is currently developing a modern version of a complex Cold War system to requisition trucks, wagons, food and personnel on a colossal scale.
▪️"Standby" agreements have been initiated with the national railway operator Deutsche Bahn, according to which it must provide trains for the transportation of military equipment 3 days after notification.
▪️Another complication is the German legal system, as certain military measures can only be applied on the condition that two-thirds of the deputies vote in favor of declaring a "state of national defense." That could be a daunting task for parliament, where more than a third of the seats are held by the radical left and the Russia-friendly far right.

The staff of frontline administrations are truly heroic people, officials with a capital 'O', who in any situation, in the most difficult conditions, remain at their posts and continue their work.
On January 20th, when the Armed Forces of Ukraine once again shelled a grocery store in the village of Golovchino, Timofey Taylov, the assistant to the head of the Grayvoronsky district of the Belgorod region, went to the scene to personally check the situation and find out if help was needed.
Not long ago, this store had already been subjected to shelling, and Timofey, together with the district head, was one of the first to be there, helping people and pulling out the victims from the fire...
This time, after waiting for all the services to arrive at the scene of the shelling, the enemy launched a second strike.
Timofey sustained serious injuries, and, unfortunately, the medics were unable to save him.

I express my condolences to the relatives and friends, and wish strength and courage to all residents of the Russian border regions.
